Hi everyone !
I have a problem, i have a tab pro 10.1 (sm t520) and my battery life is not so good, i have already calibrate it but the problem persist. The problem is that I want to send my tab to samsung but my knox is tripped Will Samsung won't to repair my tab because the knox is 0x1 ? Maybe if I unroot and flash a stock firmware there will be no problem ?
Thanks for your answer and sorry for my english.
Don't worry about knox. It has nothing to do with your hardware warranty. Knox is a security feature for corporate environments.

So even after knox is tripped, Samsung still honors the warranty?
Yes, there are multiple threads for several samsung devices that confirm this.

So, custom recovery and firmware do not void the warrenty? How can i verify?

I have read numerous postings on Reddit that if Knox is tripped, Samsung will not honor any portion of your warranty.

But it doesn't sound like his battery is obviously defective. Custom software could easily be to blame, or at least I'd be concerned that's what samsung would say. But I guess worst case they send it back and work t repair.
Flashing back to stock via Odin should be done to confirm if the problem persists.

Ok thanks for your answers, I will flash the stock rom

Kevin P: Hi, thank you for reaching out to Samsung technical support. How may I assist you?
Antonio: Hey there, I recently bought a Samsung galaxy tab pro 8.4 and it developed some issue that caused random reboots so I restored factory state with your kies program
Antonio: Now the Knox services won't work
Antonio: I googled it and found out my know warranty was tripped... Does this mean my warranty is void?
Kevin P: I see that you have sent me quite a bit of information. I’d be happy to go through it and assist you better.
Antonio: Thank you
Kevin P: You are welcome.
Kevin P: Could you provide me with the complete model number of the tablet?
Kevin P: You can find it on the rear panel of the tablet. Usually model number starts with GT, SM, SGH, SCH.
Kevin P: You can also find the model number, go to Home>> Apps>> Settings>> About Device.
Antonio: SM-T320
Kevin P: Thank you for providing the model number.
Kevin P: I see that resetting the tab does not void the warranty.
Kevin P: Removing the battery, physical, accidental, liquid damage will void the warranty.
Antonio: So what does this mean now that my Knox warranty has been tripped to 0x1? Knox will no longer work, and my local best buy employee where I bought the phone said it May void the warranty
Antonio: *Tablet not phone*
Kevin P: Does the app came pre installed with the tab?
Antonio: Yes. I can't delete it. It is a system app
Kevin P: I would like to confirm that you have rooted the tab?
Antonio: Rooted? I have not rooted to my knowledge... Does using Samsung kies root the device
Antonio: ?
Kevin P: Thank you for confirming.
Kevin P: Not worry. I see that this is not a problem. You tab will be covered under warranty for service.
Antonio: Thank you, If the random reboots persist I may have to return.
I may have told a white lie or two (my tab is still bone stock, No issues yet) but I wanted to get some info.
It appears to me that if you can flash back to unrooted stock, and your knox flag is 0x1, your warranty will still be safe (USA at least). Just say something like this^^
SM-T320 - Bone Stock (for now)
VS980 - Xdabbeb 1.2.1
Grouper - SlimKat F2FS
TF300T - CROMBi-kk
YP-G1 - CM11/Impulse

Ok pretty cool ^^ if Samsung do that in USA they do that too in France
This does not apply to France which is part of Europe and consumers are protected by law that it would be Samsung job to prove that the hardware can be damaged by software change.
Which would mean that the hardware is severely flawed...
Imagine the top news headlines "Samsung tablets can be physically damaged by a malware“

It cannot void your hardware warranty unless they can prove that the hardware defect is due to flashing the recovery or rom.
And anyway did Samsung say that tripping Knox bit will void the hardware warranty? Don't think so. Software only.
Also the 6 month rule is good to know

Hello. I got my note2 a few weeks back and now I'm noticing that the screen has two Black lines when late in the night and lighting is low. It's really annoying so I called Samsung Greece and they told me that If I went there they would fix it for me in about an hour depending on if they have the needed parts. (Does Samsung check for custom ROMs and stuff like that when sending a phone to service? Because if they don't i won't have to backup and restore and all that)So, how can I go completely back to stock 4.1.2 with stock bootloader and how can I restore all my apps and ROM when they return my phone? How can i reset the flash counter and basically remove anything that may disable my warranty?
I'm running
*DN3 4.3 3.2 ROM
*MJ5 BL
*TWRP 2.3.6.1
If you need any more info tell me. Thanks in advance for your help.

If you have bought your device less then 6 months ago then you are under legal warranty which guarantees the repair of hardware issues if you are not responsible for that issue, no matter if you are rooted or run a custom rom. If you don't believe me, ask a lawyer nearby! (Afaik only in the European Union!)
Otherwise you can restore by flashing firmware but pay attention that you don't flash the BL, reset counter with "triangle away" buyable in the playstore and unroot the device. Good luck!

@Androidwizzard thanks a lot for your reply. I bought this phone no more than 1 month. I'm from Greece. So I can just take my phone there(service) and not worry about being rooted and running a custom ROM at all? Because if that's the case that's some great news. And no I'm not responsible for the issue, I heard this is a common problem with Super amoled screens but can't really remember how the problem is called. Anyway thanks a lot and waiting for your reply patiently.

You have the right to get it repaired either by your trader or by samsung, just ask a pal, who studies or has studied law in your country. You can also use google to find it. I have only studied your ancient language, so I can't do it for you. It IS European law in the Union. Best wishes from our law firm in Austria :fingers-crossed:

You are talking about your country, but we are in Europe, where law is different and we need no warranty from Samsung. Within six months the trader has to repair hidden hardware issues, no matter how many times a rom is flashed or knox flag has turned to x1. In English both is called warranty and we are talking about warranty origin in European law. A customer secure regulation.

You can restore to original but it is not necessary to get the repair.
Just bought the SM-P600 and found out that there is no root that will NOT trip KNOX.
I mainly need root for the following:
1). Add more app in Multi-view
2). Froze Samsung apps
PS: reason I am afraid with KNOX tripping is because if I need warranty work, Samsung may reject my tablet. Samsung repair center seems to be strict - I had Note 1 bought from UK seller. Phone went bad, asked Samsung UK if I can send it for warranty work, I"ll pay the S/H both way. Nope - Samsung said UK devices must be used in UK. The moment I took it out of the country and use it there, warranty voided. Imagine if Samsung USA see KNOX bit...
You know what? Your a smarter man than me, I actually knoxed mine but after today I am not that fussed if my warranty is gone. If I need to claim warranty at any point in the future I will simply fry the mainboard before I send it, either by bridging a car battery across the mainboard or by stripping the the board out and zapping in the microwave for a few seconds.
If the board is totally inoperable they will have replace it, whether or not knox is enabled is irrelevant you can't void what you can't see? Just got to be smart about it and leave no evidence of tampering.
The tear down isn't to hard to be honest, but you can avoid it certainly try and do so, I believe that Towelroot won't knox the unit but certainly do research before hand.

Can't Samsung deny the warranty if you burn the motherboard under the "User abuse" clause? [emoji12] Just kidding.... It's a hit or miss when it come to Samsung warranty, I suppose.
I almost got burned, as mentioned above. Had Amazon did not have a great return policy, I'd have a $600 door step.

Truth be said unless you leave visible marks it's hard for them to deny it, I should do a test run in a microwave with dud boards I have at work, at least that way we can determine if that leaves marks hahahaha:laugh:

Yeah, unfortunately, there is no root w/o KNOX tripping for the Wifi version. I'd have bought the LTE version, if it is not too expensive ($699 versus $459).
Hi all,
I've had a bit of experience in rooting and flashing, back on my old Nexus 4. Haven't done it in awhile due to my Nexus 5 stock being bloody perfect in my opinion.
I'm going to get a Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5, and I've heard about all the bloatware. Obviously I would like to remove this crap if possible, but I was wondering about warranty issues. Is it now possible to restore the tablet back to a state that the warranty provider will not be able to tell it's been rooted/flashed (and voided warranty)?
Cheers.
Nope. Once knox has been tripped, you cant get back warrenty. There isnt even a root method that doesnt void knox either. What I do is wait like month or two before rooting to see if there are any faulty parts. Then i root and void warrenty.

I just got my tablet back from Samsung. My screen stopped working so I went back to the store and they sent it back to Samsung.
I was a little bit freaking out, because it was rooted and then some. (had scratches on the side/cover, I've taken the cover of it once)
Now, 2 weeks later, I just retrieved it.
Tablet is fixed/replaced. Warranty was NOT voided.
And it looks like they really fixed it instead of just refurbishing/replacing. They replaced the hardware (broken mainboard, usbport, cables), de-rooted it and patched it up back to normal factory state.
I even got the stock recovery mode from Samsung on it, which they used to patch it up.
And the bootloader says KNOX WARRANTY VOID: 0.
I've looked in to this and found that Samsung is 'okay' with you rooting your device. Your warranty does NOT get voided if you root it!
If it breaks down due to software or hardware failure that is not of your own doing (i.e. not having it dropped/submerged, you get the point), Samsung will cover the first 'repair' you sent in.
Atleast here, in the Netherlands.
Just thought you guys should know this, as everybody is 'tripping their knox' and worrying about warranty.
In the EU there is a law saying that you are allowed to jailbreak electronics you own without losing warranty. So unless it is brokenot because of negligence including bricking,, they should fix it.

It has to do something with Samsung. Depends on each thing that happens to your tablet. I think they only fix it once when Knox is tripped.
Europe has stronger consumer protection laws. I would not count on it in the U.S.
Yeah as I said, in the UK/EU yes. No idea about elsewhere. It is nothing to do with one fix if tripped its to do with consumer law.
Hey all,
Quick question. So apparently I have a bad BT module in my Note 10.1 2014 because it can't stay connected to my BT Logitech K810 (as others have suggested in this forum). It has a 2 year John Lewis warranty and they want to send it away on my behalf.
But, they won't see that I've tripped knox in the shop so no doubt they will send it away.
What's likely to happen and what are the potential (worst case) ramifications of letting them do this? ie if they send it, Samsung return it and say "no", can JL charge me for carriage and labour fees incurred by Samsung? Or are they just likely to sort it? Does anyone have any experience, because right now I wish I hadn't tripped KNOX
Cheers
J
flash it back to stock, don't say anything.
Many UK people have tripped knox and still got their tablets repaired.
Cool I will have a bash then. Still - anyone know about what happens financially if they send it back claiming Knox to be tripped? Will I get charged? Or would they have to implicitly inform me before hand if that was the case?
I have not heard of a single case where a tripped knox and Samsung have not repaired it. Plus it be sorted via John Lewis as well, they wouldn't have a clue anyway.

There is no law like that, dont confuse people. Its up to the repair center to let you use your warranty or not. Long story short, Knox DOES void your warranty and there is absolutely nothing you can do to reset the counter. It could only happen with the Note 3 for a short time, no idea if it still works.
it is effect about warranty?

It actually depends on the repair store and not where you live. I live in Greece and the guy at the repair shop would not fix my phone. Still, many people from Greece have reported success with knox tripped to 1.

Yes that also is a factor. But in the EU rooting, flashing etc can never void your consumer rights. On top of that Samsung made a public statement in the Netherlands that rooting, flashing etc will never void warranty.

False. The Directive 1999/44/CE is about rooting/flashing and not tripping Knox. It doesnt matter how you tripped Knox, if the counter is set to 1 your warranty is voided. I never said that rooting/flashing voids the warranty but having the Knox counter set to 1 DOES void your warranty EVERYWHERE in the world. Period. Again its up to the repair center.

You couldn't be more wrong. Like I said: Samsung made a public statement in the Netherlands that tripping Knox will NEVER void your warranty. In the rest of the EU maybe it does void your warranty, maybe it doesn't. But it will never void your consumer rights if you trip it. Thus the store you bought it from still has to fix it.
what trips knox? root...
if you are in EU and some service tells you knox is related to warranty, you can sue them and the case is already won as it was sentenced by the greatest court in Strasburg.
If they tell you the opposite, they just want to make you a suck3r.
no one wants to repair sth for free

. They don't care how you tripped Knox. Rooting is not the only way to trip Knox.
Like I said, no repairs for users with Knox tripped.

Anyway, of course there's that EU regulation (1999/44/CE) that is generally interpreted so that rooting/flashing may not break hardware warranty. As I've said again and again, this may be true, and you may be legally entitled to free repairs but this doesn't necessarily mean they'll actually repair your device.
Warranty needs to be provided by the seller, not by the manufacturer. The shop will usually depend on the manufacturer's warranty, though that's really none of your business or concern - your deal is with the seller. The shop will send you (or your device) to a service center, which may not be OEM operated or owned (but licensed instead) and are furthermore under no obligation whatsoever to repair your device if they don't want to. And if their instructions say to not repair in case X, then they will not, as the OEM will not reimburse them for the parts.
The shop will just tell you that the OEM says your breakage isn't covered by the warranty, and that will be that. You will have to slap said shop around a bit with EU regulations, and possibly take them to court before they will repair/replace your device. Even if you take them to court, and if you win (I've not seen or heard from such a case winning yet), you'd just be hurting the shop, it has no effect on the OEM, and you've probably spent a lot more time and money than you would've just buying a new device.

I am 100% correct and like I said already, its up to the repair center to fix your device or not.

The links from samsungknox tell nothing about warranty or not. They only talk about Knox.
Here is a dutch link. You can use google translate.
http://tweakers.net/nieuws/90256/sa...foons-standaard-onder-garantie-repareren.html
Even if you brick your phone they will fix it.
So stop saying that it will void your warranty. It will possible only void warranty in SOME countries, but definitely not all.

hi all,
FYI:
I have just talked on the phone with official samsung service department about my knox warranty void indicator ( 0x1 ) which changed when my phone was rooted. i asked them both if it is possible this indicator to be change and if they could restore it initial state ( 0x0 )...They told me that when there is any change either in flash counter or knox indicator then my phone warranty be off.In addition, they told me that they are not able to fix it and in these cases, the only way is to change the mainboard!!

KNOX Counter and Warranty?
You should have a good idea of the relationship between these two when you see the sign, KNOX WARRANTY VOID: 0×0. That means, yes, your warranty will be voided immediately when the Knox Counter is flagged/tripped.
Usually, there are two factors to take into consideration when it comes to warranty claims. One is ROOT status. The other is this KNOX Counter/Binary Counter.
As to the ROOT status, as long as you remove your root in a traceless manner, it wouldn't be a problem.
As to KNOX counter, once it is flagged/tripped (as in "KNOX WARRANTY VOID: 0×1"), you lose your warranty immediately. And more, any benefit this KNOX Tech provides you is compromised and no longer available.
