Hello,
Just wondering if anyone else has had same problem i'm having right now. When opening Mail(not gmail) i get the following message:
the application Mail(proces com.htc.android.mail) has suddenly stopped. Please try again.
I keep on trying but get same message every time. Restarting phone does not help. Don't want to do a hard reset because then i will lose data/apps...... Anyone know a sollution? I've deinstalled any apps that i installed between when Mail was and was'nt working. I have a stock DHD(dutch). Not rooted yet
My native language is dutch so the "error" message might be different on WWE phones. Sorry for any mistakes in the message.
Happy new year

I dont have a different radio installed, everything is Stock from HTC. Tryed to set up account again (and deleting old stuff) but get different error. Getting frustrated. Thinking of doing a hard reset. Any backup programs i should install before reset?
Just a thought, have you tried settings, applications, manage applications, mail, clear data and clear cache? I had a similar problem with gmail app and that cured it.

Preacher65, thanks for the tip. But that did not solve the problem. When i add an exchange account(because with previous procedure the account has been deleted) i can complete every step except the last one. Then i get a error saying something like setup was not succesfull, try again later.
I can see the sync item appearing in the taskbar though? I'm out of ideas?

Sorry it didn't work. I don't use Exchange on this phone so out of ideas, really.
To answer your earlier question, though, you can use apps like Titanium Backup or MyBackup Pro to backup any non-stock apps and data to your SD card, then if you wipe you can restore them quite easily and quickly.
Or if you have Auto-sync on, and "Backup my settings" and "Automatically Restore" ticked in the Settings/Privacy option, Android will re-download all your Market apps automatically. It saves your settings to your Google account and uses that data to restore your apps after a wipe. I think it restores app data too, not sure though as I only used it once - I use Titanium now as it's much quicker.
Hope that helps.

Is there any app, which can backup my contacts along with the joined contacts information without rooting the phone?
I have many contacts which i have joined with FB, Twitter etc., and I don't want the re-merge all of them again after flasing my phone or deleting the People app cache.
My phone is not rooted and It is stock 4.0.4 yakju build.
I found out some Threads about It, but It is not suitable because I don't have a rooted phone to use Titanium Backup. Besides, I have already tried to use Go Contacts, and also to export my contacts as CVS, but none of those solutions worked.
Please, Is there any app to backup all merged contacts without rooting the phone?Or is it possible to backup and restore my contacts with ABD without rooting the phone?
I appreciate any help you can give me
i used this one you can try it https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.mots.haxsync&feature=nav_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDNd

Hello,
thanks for helping.
The suggested app only syncs FB contacts with the phone contacts, It doesn't backup any merged contacts. If you manually merge your contacts, You will lost all the merged contacts when you flash your phone or clean People app data.
I am searching for app to backup all merged contacts without rooting the phone. Does someone know an app ou ADB command to do it?
thanks in advance
anyone?any clue?
i too would like to know this. anyone? my phone is rooted
This problem is in Android since version 1.x
You can't sync those things back from the phone to Google Contacts. Only what you edit or put into Google Contacts on the desktop or Web interface sticks and gets synced back into the phone.
I had the prob before on my HTC Legend and Samsung G5 and still on the Galaxy Nexus.
There are countless threads across all device forums and Google Bug Reports about it and different implementations for all phones and skins (sense, tw, blur).
Only solution is to edit Google Contacts directly and use it as the Master, phone will always be the slave.

Might sound like a stupid question. I just unlocked, rooted, and flashed Jelly Belly, and was wondering if there was a quick way to recover your apps. The only way I've known is to login to play.google.com and send all the apps I want manually through the web interface. Is it possible to have your apps auto sync once you login to your Google account for the first time upon setup? Maybe some other way. It just pains me to manually have to go to the Google Play Store web interface from my computer and send each app one at a time to my phone. Thanks guys.
during the time when you set it up and logged into google it should of asked you to restore apps if it didnt well then your going to have to do them one by one unless of course you had titanium backup or something
I think while I was still on stock ICS and did a full wipe for a new kernel when I rebooted all my apps started downloading instantly as soon as I signed into Google. Since then thought that hasn't happened. I just go to the play store and look at my app purchase history and download the ones I had. Would like to know how to set up the auto feature, I think it might have to do with the Currents folder I have that is being backed up to Google now.

Yeah, that's the issue I'm having. I know a friend of mine doesn't have this issue. Everytime he flashes a new ROM his apps are restored automatically. On the other hand, when I sign into my Google account for the first time, my apps aren't synced and downloaded automatically. Everything else is, like contacts, etc get restored, but not apps for some reason. Any idea why my Google account isn't syncing my apps?
Just backup user apps and data through adb or a toolkit and restore when done. I've flashed all of the stock update leaks using this method, up and running in no time with everything back to normal. Don't backup system apps and data unless are reflashing the same ROM.

Can Titanium Backup do this?
Hey guys,
I changed a few ROMs this past week because no calendar would work. I always did a system wipe, cache and dalvik wipe also. but every time I flash a ROM and reboot I would get the message the X number of apps are being optimized. I went back and deleted my titanium backup and still got the same message. if I install gapps package a get an even bigger number of apps optimizing on startup. I also can't get Google calendar to sync with my Google account. it says that I don't have a calendar and the same goes for any other calendar app - but I do have a calendar and I can access it on the browser.
how can I resolve these issues and start with a fresh install? I think that will fix the calendar issue also.

Hi,
After a factory reset to Lollipop 5.0.2, I don't seem to have the Contacts or Phone app anymore. How can I solve this?
The background story is as follows:
I recently resat my Z1 Compact and installed Lollipop 5.0.2. Earlier I had a CyanogenMod version, but it had some annoying bugs, so I decided to go back to stock Android.
I used Titanium Backup to backup apps and user data from CM. When I tried to restore these apps and userdata in Lollipop, I got error messages all the time, saying "android.process.acore", "android.process.phone", "Phone", "Top Contacts" and "Contacts" had stopped working. Trying to get rid of these error messages, I cleared the data and uninstalled some apps related to Phone and Contacts, but the error messages kept coming.
I therefore did a factory reset again. I discovered that I did not have any contacts synced on my phone, so I tried to sync them.
It turned out I couldn't find neither the Contacts app or Phone app on my phone. It is therefore impossible to enter the settings in the Contacts app to make the phone sync contacts.
I have tried searching, but I haven't found a solution.
What can I do to fix this?
Thanks in advance.

Sounds like you may have to reflash. Did you check /system/app? Are they there? If. So, you could try clicking on base.apk, and see if they reinstall, or try to get a stock apk from another user. I'm currently not on stock ROM, so I can't. I came across this thread recently, http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3/themes-apps/xperia-z3-apks-t3059426 - it's for Z3, but they might work, or maybe there's a similar thread for z1c, (I haven't seen it). Hope that helps.
Thanks for your answer.
The only relevant apps I could find in /system/app, was ContractsSIM. I'll try to find a thread with stock apps for z1c like you suggested, if not, I'll try the app from z3. If that doesn't work either, I guess I'll have to reflash again.

1. if you switch from a custom ROM back to stock always make a clean install (full wipe)
2. NEVER restore apps with Titanium Backup from CM to stock - lots of problems
Full Wipe - flash stock ROM - install all apkĀ“s new - finish
Ok, great, I'll try that. ?
By the way, I haven't been able to reboot into recovery mode. It's like that possibility doesn't exist after I flash to stock Lollipop 5.0.2. That means I haven't been able to try to install Xposed (which I don't know if would work at all, though...). Any idea why that is, and how I could fix that?

If you flashed stock ROM via Flashtool, you no longer have root or recovery, etc., unless it was a pre-rooted ftf. You'll have to reroot, and flash recovery.
Edit- don't know if you figured it out yet or not, but. I came across this today - http://forum.xda-developers.com/cro...-collection-stock-files-sony-devices-t3142349
