problem when flashing and with calendar - Kindle Fire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
I changed a few ROMs this past week because no calendar would work. I always did a system wipe, cache and dalvik wipe also. but every time I flash a ROM and reboot I would get the message the X number of apps are being optimized. I went back and deleted my titanium backup and still got the same message. if I install gapps package a get an even bigger number of apps optimizing on startup. I also can't get Google calendar to sync with my Google account. it says that I don't have a calendar and the same goes for any other calendar app - but I do have a calendar and I can access it on the browser.
how can I resolve these issues and start with a fresh install? I think that will fix the calendar issue also.

[Q] com.htc.bg and bgp FC(facebook is not the problem)

Yesterday when i had updated my rom, i turned my phone on, the problem already started 1st thing that showed up was saying that i have to force close com.htc.bg and immediatley after com.htc.bgp:S, i'm not able to go in weather and in the settings(accounts&sync) i can't enter facebook to delete it. It give me a FC message and goes back to the homescreen, even while playing games this happens? Any solution without a full wipe, have a lot of apps, it takes years to backup and restore... only if i have to i will..
any help?
BTW: rom is InsterCoin v33, v32 had no problems
Wipe dalvik cache (and reflash the rom whiteout wipe). Might help.

[Q] Reboot on unlock after receiving texts.

Hi All,
I have a droid incredible that I was running CM7 on. At some point the phone started rebooting randomly when I pressed the unlock button. This happened a few times a day and I eventually realized that these reboots were only happening when I unlocked the phone after receiving a text.
This didn't happen on all texts, but maybe half or so. I've done the following to try to remedy the problem, but it is still occurring:
- wiped cache/dalvik cache.
- methodically removed app by app, cleared app data.
- removed all phone/rom backups.
- wiped data/factory reset of CM7.
- installed latest MIUI rom.
- wiped data/factory reset of MIUI.
I am currently running a wiped MIUI rom with only the apps that came preloaded on the rom. I feel like I've tried everything and can't figure this out!
Anyone have any thoughts on this? Thanks so much for your help!
It's still happening on MIUI or only on the CM7? Was it a Nightly?
Is messages cache full, or nearly so?
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA Premium App
Bull_Moose, I have been using the latest CM7 RC1... never used a nightly. The ROM worked fine for a while and then a few months ago started rebooting after receiving texts. I switched over to MIUI, hoping it would solve my issues...but it didn't.
smtom, Is there a messages cache that can be cleared specifically? I've never seen it. I'm assuming, though, that since I've done several complete wipes of the phone that all caches would have been cleared anyways...
The sheer number of messages, over time, will yield the dreaded low on space notice. This is rendered moot by either backup of messages somewhere using something like SMS Backup +, or deleting threads, and storing your multimedia message attachments to sd or elsewhere. Couple questions : are you restoring messages across or between ROM's? What messaging application are you using?

Hi smtom,
Sorry for the delay. So, I do regularly use SMS Backup and Restore to archive my messages into separate files so that I can occasionally delete all message threads and clear up space.
When I have wiped or switched roms in the past I have always done clean installs, which should clear all message memory, right? I am currently just using whatever SMS app comes preinstalled on MIUI.
My problem with the phone restarting has continued despite all of this... but I wonder if using a 3rd party messaging app could make a difference. Hmmmm.
Ray
RayLJill, have you figured anything out since switching to a 3rd party app? My friend's incredible is getting the random reboots, new sms text messages or not. He is on most current CM7 Nightly after I did a complete wipe/factory reset/format all memory and clean install (he was having this issue on CM7 nighties before i did the clean install, still didn't help i guess)

[Q] In need of help

I have T-mobile G-2/ Rooted and running CyangenMod-7.0.2 vision (side note: I had someone root the phone for me I have very limited technical skills and reading these threads for me me is like reading greek.....back to my issue) as with all androids phone a g-mail account is required long story short I had a stalker and deleted my g-mail account replaced it with another. The new account will not sync my contacts or calender. I've looked everywhere and tried asking google for help> my only option it seems is to reset my phone back to factory setting. I'm also having a problem with short battery life, the battery never charges to 100% Ive installed juice defender, should I replace the battery? I don't want to lose my root and I don't know how to root it again on my own. If any one can help me it would be appreciated
Grimm
factory reset wont loose root
are there multiple gmail accounts on your phone? if you log on to new gmail account from computer can you see your contacts? in phone under accounts and sync is contacts box checked? you can try to reset batt stats first to see if batt life improves
I don't have multiple g-mail account The 1st was deleted the 2nd is the current one using on my G-2 I still get prompted to sign into 1st even tho it doesn't exists. I've tried sync for the 2nd account it doesn't work. when I log into my new g-mail account I only see recently added contacts
I will try batt reset
just save all you have on phone. do a nandroid backup via recovery to be safe.
go into recovery and try just wiping cache and dalvik cache, boot backinto phone and see if you can log in and sync
if you cant factory reset and start fresh.

I have ROM Manager installed on my phone can I use that to back everything up?
Sent from my HTC G-2 using XDA
titamiumbackup for apps and such
sms bckup + for call logs and sms
some launchers allow you to back up home screens
but the crucial thing is boot into recovery and do a nandroid backup
this will make an exact copy of your nand flash and revert it just the way it is
in case something went wrong, always do this if you change roms as well
Thanks for all your help, everything was understanderble, even for me I've followed your advice step by step....like I said I'm technically challenged and It took me all weekend to try this
I backed everything up both nandroid and titanium did the phone reset. the only thing is when I do the restore the old g-mail account is still there, I've wiped the devlic and the cache it's still there
Any thoughts
dont use the nandroid to restore, this is just in case other problems arise later. wipe all again and if you need some parts restore those from titanium or sms backup or what ever you feel you need. if your phone dosent have a whole lot of settings tweaked to your desire or a whole lot of apps then just start fresh. i flash a lot of roms and rarley do i use these restore features and when i do its usualy just certain data and not the apps. i spend a good hour or more tweaking and setting up my phone the way i like it after i flash a new rom. if you dont tweak much, just start fresh

Thank you for your patients I have 1 more question
Once I wipe everything & do factory reset will titanium remember my phone when I reinstall it
Sent from my HTC G-2 using XDA
titanium will store the info on your sdcard. you would then download titanium from the market and go into and choose a full batch restore or pick and choose what you want restored.

well as you said that you deleted your old account you will not be able to get your previous contacts. My suggestion is to see if you can restore your old acount(via pc) and then open gmail > contacts > more > export. Export them as a google csv and save on your desktop. later login into our new gmail account > contacts > more > import. now select your previously saved csv file and import. This should help you get all your contacts into google which can be synched to your phone using your new account.
PS: If google doesn't give you a method to restore your deleted account then what i said above is of no use. You should then follow demkantor's suggestions.

the time
Ok so I made time this weekend to sit down and go thru the process of restoring my phone and thank for all the great advice. After a few tries, a few wipes and reboots I finally got my G-2 working how I wanted. Thank you for all your help

Do apps sync when flashing a new ROM?

Might sound like a stupid question. I just unlocked, rooted, and flashed Jelly Belly, and was wondering if there was a quick way to recover your apps. The only way I've known is to login to play.google.com and send all the apps I want manually through the web interface. Is it possible to have your apps auto sync once you login to your Google account for the first time upon setup? Maybe some other way. It just pains me to manually have to go to the Google Play Store web interface from my computer and send each app one at a time to my phone. Thanks guys.
during the time when you set it up and logged into google it should of asked you to restore apps if it didnt well then your going to have to do them one by one unless of course you had titanium backup or something
I think while I was still on stock ICS and did a full wipe for a new kernel when I rebooted all my apps started downloading instantly as soon as I signed into Google. Since then thought that hasn't happened. I just go to the play store and look at my app purchase history and download the ones I had. Would like to know how to set up the auto feature, I think it might have to do with the Currents folder I have that is being backed up to Google now.

Yeah, that's the issue I'm having. I know a friend of mine doesn't have this issue. Everytime he flashes a new ROM his apps are restored automatically. On the other hand, when I sign into my Google account for the first time, my apps aren't synced and downloaded automatically. Everything else is, like contacts, etc get restored, but not apps for some reason. Any idea why my Google account isn't syncing my apps?
Just backup user apps and data through adb or a toolkit and restore when done. I've flashed all of the stock update leaks using this method, up and running in no time with everything back to normal. Don't backup system apps and data unless are reflashing the same ROM.

Can Titanium Backup do this?

4.4.2 - data being reset on boot

n the last week or two I've noticed (on a few different KK roms, both CM and AOSP based) that on upon boot, default app selections (default launcher, browser, calendar, etc) are not being remembered. Most effects are minor, just re-selecting the preferred app along the way, but some apps actually seem to reset to factory on boot. Example: I decided to try the Minuum keyboard trial, and it makes me re-sign the UELA again after each boot. Cyanogen based roms pop up the CM account sign in dialog on each boot, and sometimes give an error that say there's a problem with the UID on the device and I need to wipe /data.
Anyways, question basically is it anyone else is running into this, or is it just me? Does it sound like something in the roms, or could it be something corrupt on the device?
Any thoughts appreciated.

Think I got myself sorted. Do you restore data using Rom Toolbox or TB? (I use Toolbox) Seems like it was restoring accounts & phone data for me. Clean flashed rom & gapps (threw in an internal SD wipe first for good measure, but probably not necessary), restored apps & data, but skipped restoring accounts & phone data, manually added my google & other accounts. Haven't had any other troubles since. Don't know if this will work for you, but maybe worth a shot.
Delete rant.
