[Q] Backup Merged Contacts - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Is there any app, which can backup my contacts along with the joined contacts information without rooting the phone?
I have many contacts which i have joined with FB, Twitter etc., and I don't want the re-merge all of them again after flasing my phone or deleting the People app cache.
My phone is not rooted and It is stock 4.0.4 yakju build.
I found out some Threads about It, but It is not suitable because I don't have a rooted phone to use Titanium Backup. Besides, I have already tried to use Go Contacts, and also to export my contacts as CVS, but none of those solutions worked.
Please, Is there any app to backup all merged contacts without rooting the phone?Or is it possible to backup and restore my contacts with ABD without rooting the phone?
I appreciate any help you can give me

i used this one you can try it https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.mots.haxsync&feature=nav_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDNd

Hello,
thanks for helping.
The suggested app only syncs FB contacts with the phone contacts, It doesn't backup any merged contacts. If you manually merge your contacts, You will lost all the merged contacts when you flash your phone or clean People app data.
I am searching for app to backup all merged contacts without rooting the phone. Does someone know an app ou ADB command to do it?
thanks in advance

anyone?any clue?

i too would like to know this. anyone? my phone is rooted

This problem is in Android since version 1.x
You can't sync those things back from the phone to Google Contacts. Only what you edit or put into Google Contacts on the desktop or Web interface sticks and gets synced back into the phone.
I had the prob before on my HTC Legend and Samsung G5 and still on the Galaxy Nexus.
There are countless threads across all device forums and Google Bug Reports about it and different implementations for all phones and skins (sense, tw, blur).
Only solution is to edit Google Contacts directly and use it as the Master, phone will always be the slave.

thanks bros but i edited my first post. i got my pw, but my contacts list is empty.
Did you save your contacts to Google or your phone? If phone: start telling people that you lost their numbers.
i always had it synched...anyways, before i did the update i did backup my contacts on titanium backup...if i root my phone now and download the program, would i be able to pull it off?
can i restore my epic back to the eclair firmware when i had my contacts, before updated to froyo? will it work that way?

No, you can't just restore back to Eclaire, you have to use Odin to go back. Read this to learn how to go back.
if you were rooted and have clockwork and nandroid backed up b4 updating then, u can restore data only and then u might get your contacts back, if not then i don't think u can...
Contacts.
BigBeard86,
First make sure your contacts are there in your google account on the internet. If they are not there, you may be hosed! If they are then you will be able to sync them again.
You could have been part of the problem last week when google lost many email accounts. Just a thought.
There is not a problem syncing as I am doing on my EPIC after I went from 2.1 to 2.2. Things are synced fine.
Fyi, if you had contacts in your old phone that got "ported" to your new Epic in the Sprint store or wherever you bought it, those will get deleted when you upgrade. Mine did the same thing. The reason being that they are not synced with your Google account automatically and are simply stored in your phone's memory.
Did you log into your gmail account on a computer to see if they are there?

[Help] Reflex.S 2.0.1 + Titanium Backup

Hey guys,
I never had issues with flashing before and was using Leedroid 3.0.2 since today.
I decided to try out the new Reflex.S ROM Vers. 2.0.1. cuz it has the new Sense interface and I'm really fascinated by it.
In short: I flashed it and the recommended radio afterwards. The system booted successfull and seemed to be running stable.
Now like everybody of you surely expected, I did a recover via Titanium Backup afterwards. As soon as the recover has been finished i was getting force closes of android.acore and other modules.
I reflashed 3 times and tried to find out what might be the reason for the occuring errors. I was able to make out at least that it had to do with the import of my old contact settings (I recovered the data of contacts exclusively).
I'm sure that other modules might force the same error, but the most important one for me is the one of my contacts, as u might guess.
Does anybody of u have an idea what I might do to get all of my contacts into the Reflex.S ROM?
And please dont tell me, i got to reflash to leedroid and write down all numbers by hand
I'd really appreciate any help!
Save your contacts to your Google Account and sync with Google. It should backup your contacts (you can check when you log onto Gmail but in the browser). That's what I have done so when I change rom, I just sync my contacts back an voila.
Thx for the first advice.
Afaik I'm not able to sync my contacts to my google account after they've been created as "contacts saved on the phone". I would have to add every single of them again and then change the save-destination.
Am I right? Or maybe wrong?
Yes, you would have to add them all in again as a Google contact. Yes it is a pain but once it's done it's done. You could try to export your contacts then import them back.
Does anybody have another idea how to get my adjustments of sense, including my contacts, from a titanium backup of leedroid 3.0.2 Rom into the Rom of Reflex.S without any errors?

[Q] How to Backup Gmail accounts with Titanium Backup

Has anyone been able to successfully backup gmail accounts and restore them using Titanium Backup? I have multiple accounts (work and personal) and it would be nice to be able to restore all of them without having to reenter them manually. I have tried backing up Gmail 2.3.4 and Accounts and Sync Settings 2.3.4 and upon restoring either of them my accounts are not restored....any ideas? Any help is greatly appreciated.

dont think any software does backups on user name and password for gmail unless its a nandroid. You have to find the right gapps that will restore your other stuff. Look around and check since its a nice feature to just put in your info and have all your apps and settings return. Entering your own account information is also like a security issue with google. Dont think your going to see that function with any 3rd party app... Good thought tho I guess
Thanks for the quick response. Ya, the version of GAPPS I have works great I was just hoping to have something like this. I know when I was on Windows mobile, someone wrote a program (SASHIMI) that we were able to input our email, wifi, etc accounts to be inputed when we ran the program...guess I was kinda hoping to have something to similar with Android....guess thats the downside of being a flash-aholic....lol...thanks again for your response.
The ability to backup Gmail, especially if one has several Gmail accounts, with Titanium would be very helpful in the restoration process and repair when then get corrupted.

Yea I didn't see it in the Android Market. Anyone else have any ideas as to what I can do?
Not sure but I don't think VzBackup will work on Sensation Based roms. you can restore your previous rom download contacts from verizon and then save or export them to your sd card...Newts Incredible Sensation uses the Inc2 Framework so VZBackup works with out problem. Good luck most Sense 3.0 and 2.1 rom are based from Sprint and earlier roms(before GB) were having lots of problems when they left the vzbackup software in.

VZW Backup Assistant is generally considered useless bloat and is stripped from most, if not all ROMs. Most veteran ROM flasher have supercomputer-like memories and can input their entire phone book from memory after each flash.
....na. Just kidding. We use our Google accounts. It works better too, and you can access it from any computer, edit it, and never worry about losing all your contacts if something happens to your phone. If all else fails, make a nandroid of your current ROM, wipe the phone and restore your old ROM with the phone book in it, set up a Google account to link to the phone and sync your address book to it, then wipe, restore your new ROM, and log into Google. You're entire address book will rebuilt itself, no user intervention required. If you plan on flashing different ROMs to experiment with them, it's the ONLY way to go.
You're other option is dig through the files of the old ROM for the right .apk and copy that to the new ROM. Don't ask me how though. If it were me, it would be faster to just do the flash thing.
here's a flashable version:

put it in the root of your sdcard and flash from recovery.

nandroid first just in case.....

To OP
After you flash this and if it works and you get all your contacts transfered, I would suggest you export your contacts to your SD card. It'll make a .vcf file that you can use (also save it to an online site, or email yourself the file) so in the future instead of having stuff like this that can constantly use up your connection and CPU you can just import this nifty file.
Google also syncs your contacts but I don't always trust it as sometimes it doesn't pick them all up (maybe I'm just doing something wrong)
I stick with Google sync over backup assist aswell. Although sync doesn't always import all of my contacts but majority of the time it works great

VZW Backup is useless! Just as several others have suggested, it is always best to use your Google account to store and manage your contacts. Especially when you start flashing ROMs regularly.
Just as useful as their $2.99 a month visual voicemail.

Retrieving contacts

Hi guys, I'm having a lot of trouble getting my contacts back on my new rom.
Maybe I just dont know how to sync *from* google to my phone, I have always chosen the google option when creating new contacts but have never manually done a contact sync with google. I looked around on my google account but it says I have no contacts. I have a Nandroid backup but cant read the .img files to get to the contacts. I'm currently trying nandroid browser but it keeps trying to load without actually loading it. I have a titanium backup but after re-downloading it to the new rom it doesnt have an option for recover, only backup in my contacts storage. I did a nandroid backup before flashing my new rom, but the new rom has a different kernel which wont let me recover to my old rom without flashing a compatible kernel of my old rom. It was so long ago that I dont even remember what my old rom was, but it was a sense based rom. I've tried to find a 2.2 stock kernel to see if my old rom will load with that but every download link I try is broken or the file doesnt work.
This is driving me insane, everything I try is a brick wall. If you guys have some insight that would help out a LOT.
Contrary to my name, I do have an htc evo 4g.
Any ideas? Does anyone know of a program that will read the .img files on my mac? Can I go to the sprint store to get the contacts? I think I've done that before, but I'm pretty sure they were on my phone as well....
You synced your Gmail account in accounts and sync right?
Yeah, it has the check mark next to contacts. Interesting tho, when I went to my google account nothing showed up in my contacts section... I found my old rom but the updated rom manager wont let me install it. I think they're gone. I also found another app (app extractor) and that didnt get them back either. I guess anyone worth staying in contact with will eventually call me hahaha!!
Make sure you have the right account registered and recheck the contacts sync icon just to be sure.

I am currently having the same issue. I have a rooted evo 4g and I did a factory reset and loaded the 2.3.5 rom last night. I linked up my google account with my phone and i got a lot of contacts back, but not all of them. The one's I really need (mom, wife, etc.) weren't there. I logged onto my gmail account through the pc and it had the same contacts that synced up. It was weird because whenever i manually entered a new contact, i made sure I created it with the google account and I synced the account before I wiped the phone. I gave up, and like the OP said, if they really want to talk to me they'll contact me. I would still like to retrieve my contacts though.
ok guys...ran into this with my wife. When adding contacts make sure you add them as a Google contact. Should be a drop down in the contact page...otherwise they will only be stored as "phone"contacts
Hopefully they are saved with a Nan backup. If so expect them to your computer as a csv file and import to Gmail and next time be sure you are adding a new one as a Google contact
