It seems like there are a dozen new Android phones and tablets coming out every week from unknown manufactures. Most of these are cheap Chinese devices, but they're not all junk, and smaller manufacturers from other countries get thrown into the mix as well. Right now, any discussion of these devices ends up in the Android General forums for lack of a better home. This makes these forums quite crowded with orphaned-device-specific posts, and useful general posts hard to find.
I suggest an new forum section for off-brand or generic devices. This section should have four sub-forums: phone general, tablet general, phone development, and tablet development. This would give these low-volume devices a home and declutter Android General significantly. It may even cut down on the requests for dedicated forums for obscure devices.
Not a bad idea actually. I like it, though not sure what the admin will think. I've suggested your idea to them and linked here, so we'll see what they say
Yea, I'm going to go ahead and throw my support behind this as well. Considering there's a new Android device released every week, it seems prudent to give those few users a spot to call there own.
I also support this, especially since I'm unable to afford larger-brand products, so I own a Coby MID1125 Kyros tablet and would love for there to be space specifically for it.

Just to clarify, it would be a space for your Coby and other low-volume devices as well. It should be easier for you to find coby-specific posts there though.
Nice idea. If there were any type of voting going on then I'd be raising my hand straight away. This would surely benefit both the users without specific forums and the general lurkers, like myself.

Support cost-effective products
This is a great idea, many "off-brand" or "cost-effective" device development ends up in the Android OS fora scattered randomly.
this would be a great organizational addition for future posts and back-cleaning other forums.
XDA has always been a developers forum. We add devices depending on the amount of development and how good the device is. We don't support Chinese knock devices at all as they are not official devices with official firmware versions. Half the time a Chinese knock off will state it has certain hardware and it really doesn't. Remember only recently have we even added non HTC devices.
Well the admin thought this was a good idea and will be implemented in a day or so
So I have been checking the web constantly for the Ion release date. Though I have yet to find something concrete, something caught my eye yesterday. I did a google search for Xperia Ion and when the description came up for Sony's website, it said "Coming in June only from AT&T." Well I did the same search this morning so I could take a screen shot of what I saw and now the description says, "Coming Soon only from AT&T." I bet what I saw was accidentally put in the meta description then taken down. Hope this is correct. I'm due for upgrade in June and I really want the Ion. The One X is my second choice, but I really want that HDMI out!
Hope someone here has some inside information.
I figured out if you continuously hit refresh, the ad description updates. Here's the screenshot.

S3 CPU and Gingerbread? No thanks. Sony should at least have had an.S4 to appeal better vs phones like the One X and SGS3. Average consumer will prolly be swayed my the mp count but still, it should have been better overall

I disagree, partially. I really wished Sony would learn from previous experience and wouldn't be late to the quadcore party or at least come up with a 2012 SoC during 2012, but in the other hand some people will prefer the design and camera over other ubiquitous phones by other manufacturers.
Glad to see someone out there cares about this phone. I honestly expect the 4.0 update to be ready within a month of the release of the phone. I can't stand touchwiz or sense. I'm using a captivate atm. I immediately flashed a rom to get rid of touchwiz. I however have my x10 running wolf breaks tweaked stock 2.3 rom because I actually like the Sony UI. Besides, no phone on the market will have a camera comparable to the ion. 1.5ghz dual core seems like plenty of fire power for me. My captivate is smooth with ICS and a single core, don't see how the Sony won't do just as well, especially after the ICS update. The One X is my backup plan, but I really want that ION!

I wouldn't recommend HTC, their build quality and service are not comparable to Samsung, Apple or Sony.
Sammy always has the hottest hardware but their phones look plasticky and Touchwiz is not my taste. Matter of personal choices.
I'm currently using the Arc with ICS update.
Wow. That phone almost makes me want to go back to AT&T. GBs not that big of a deal, hopefully devs will jump on that phone pretty quickly and get some custom ROMs going...

Hi Orb3000, nice to see you again
You must reconsider your decission because the OP is NOT a question but a statement. The guy found an interesting slip in google advertising system which confirmed a June release date for the aforementioned phone.
Whatsmore, many recognized tech blogs acknowledged his finding and published notes about it, some even linking here to xda-devs as the source of the finding.
Just got my Xperia Ion! Here's a couple of photos next to my Xperia S, along with the Antutu benchmark!
Where did you get it from?
I'm hoping they announce it's release on AT&T very soon!
U got an S and an Ion??? SHOWOFF!!! eb

It's amazing to me how little AT&T is pushing this phone. You go to the AT&T website and you have to dig to find it (whereas the one x and the sgIII are on the front page). I understand those are higher end devices, but it seems as if AT&T doesn't really care at all about what is a pretty decent phone. Even when I walked into the AT&T store, they looked at me like I was crazy for asking for the ion (maybe they forgot how to sell anything other than iphones....)

The phone is finally visible on the site, I find it interesting..I emailed Sony about that and a few hours later the phone magically appeared!
I ordered my phone online through the website the day it was released (like you said had to dig through the search bar to find it). Unfortunately I was unable to upgrade from my end so I had to call 611.
At&t must not have told many people about its roll out because the rep who helped me had no clue that this phone existed but had no problem searching it himself and ordering it on his end. I emphasize this because he flat out told me he keeps up with all the employee updates and me asking about the phone was the first he ever heard of it.
Long story short he ordered the phone for himself and expressed my order so we both can baste in its awesomeness asap!
OK, I feel the need to publically rant about my nexus 7 (sorry, utterly useless topic)
I'm tired of acting as a beta tester when I buy consumer electronics. The problems with multitouch on my nexus 7 32gb were hiliarious for about 10 secs. I don't even want to try out the various bootloaders to try to fix it software-wize. This kind of problem should not have happened in the first place, AT ALL. How the hell do these products get quality checked before being sold, seriously ? Multitouch is THE main and basic feature of such devices, how on Earth can it not be perfect out of box ?
I was wondering by the way : has Apple ever had any problems with the multitouch on its phones ? I've actually rarely had any apple phones / tablets in my hand, but each single time, the touch response was way better than any android device out there. How come ? (please don't tell me : "ok f* off and go apple already", it's an open question, I'm curious).
Also, this tablet being my first experience in the tablet world, Google clearly hasn't made up its mind if it's to be considered as a tablet or as a biggish phone. Gmail, for one, in portrait looks as stupid as Tapatalk 4 with its massive side menu you can't ever swipe away. I want a damn TABLET experience.
So the nexus 7 is going back to the shop, and I'll wait for some other device, which may be a long time, as I cannot imagine buying anything else than nexus (Can't bare manufacturer devices that already aren't supported anymore after being on the market for >4months).
I sicked of being played around, and tired of all this nonsense. :/
Cheers. have a wonderful weekend. (and "Bon courage !" to all of you nexus7 users, I'm out)

What's your point ? Nexus devices are supposed to be an especially reliable plateform for Android app programmers, not a vast google beta program for it's own developers !! (I'm talking about the basic hardware features here, not advanced / beta features in google apps)
OP, i'd say... who cares? You said yourself its stupid thread so why do you bother to start it anyway?

Developer devices don't have to be stable, they are a baseline to work with, no one have any guarantees that they would be consumer level qualify or stable, buying a Nexus device means you are part time beta testing

The nexus 7 is sold in all consumer electronic stores, as is any Samsung, Sony,... products. Clearly it's not "beta hardware" anymore...

Seriously? They sold a bunch of devices and all "buyers" should be developers only? If I buy a device then the basic features must work. Nothing more nothing less, also if I am a developer the device must work.

I'd even say, a developer would require EXTRA STABLE hardware in order to program without having hardware bugs mixing with his own apps' bugs...
when you first discovered the issue did you try to return it? Have you read about the issue before purchasing it?
why not get an apple device, just curious.
I completely agree with you with all these problems with the Nexus 7, but for its price and speed compared to the iPad mini, I'll stick with my Nexus 7 since the problems are bearable for me.
While I agree with the OP in principle, almost everything in the computing industry is that way any more. There is such pressure to get new hardware/software out the door, that all vendors are putting stuff out before it is truly ready. I don't think Google is any more guilty of this than any other technology vendor. I've seen stuff a LOT more screwed up than the N7.
IMO there is an 80-90% chance most, if not all, of your touch issues can be resolved in 10 minutes using this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2428133
Of course you won't have the pleasure of ranting.
Your choice.
That is why I always wait at least a month before I buy something. That ways I can see if there is any problems with the first run. With the New Nexus 7 I new there was going to be issues with multi touch and I haven't had any problems with it yet. The only problem I have had so far is the keyboard sometimes freezes while I type. Not a big deal to me. No matter what electronic device you buy, there will always be something that will go wrong with it. I'm loving the New Nexus 7 so far. Just sad to see someone get discouraged over something that could be fixed by software. Enjoy your next tablet that you get.

Let's be honest here, you can always find a flaw in each phone/tablet out in the market. Everything comes down to your personal preference and your ability to accept certain flaws. Even ipads/iphones have their own set of issues. It may not be multi touch issues but there are some other issues.
Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.
/waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.
I dont have any issues. None that you describe. Then again, I'm not an end user. Which you sound like. Nothing wrong with that. But you bought something for power users and devs. Not Gramma's and Hippsters..
I change the things out with other things that give me issues or that I don't like and I have full control of the tablet. Something you'll harldy get elsewhere.
But thats not what you want. You want rock stable. So buy an Apple. (which has its own issues, But thats not where I am going) or a windows slate...Muahahahahahahahahahaha....Sorry, there really is no place to go that doesn't have some kind of issue. Maybe Buy a chalk board. Those haven't had many issues in like 100+ years.
I love how everyone has their own way of fighting with OP. He wasn't trying to engage a fight simply saying that the Nexus had too many problems for his liking. I was very very close to leaving as well myself. If there was any comparable alternative I would have been gone long ago.
Why do you guys make excuses for Google? Nexus is for developers only? LOL guess u think this site is developers only too. Sure, stuff happens when your factory is in China... But this is excessive..
There needs to be accountability and quick corrective action (Google has taken some action, but not enough yet.) if we sit here and accept whatever garbage is fed to us, we will always be fed garbage simply because they can.

Yeah, maybe a mod thinks this site is only for developers... But I would like to see the reaction on the site owners face if you told him they have banned all non developers. Ad revenue instantly = 0
Historically the site was started for developers maybe but now I guarantee 90% of site content cannot be considered development. Unless you consider a million replies asking where to download Gapp zip for paranoid android development....
Stuff like the OP doesn't belong Development forum, but can you blame the guy for posting here? I went through 20 Nexus only to find out that it was a firmware issue. Google messed up royally...
Crowd funded ROM development...
Now here is a thought.. Sure I am not the first one, but here is a suggestion and description of what I believe to be a brilliant idea.
I have bought quite a few Chinese devises for me and my family, and it has been a little hit and miss when it comes to usability on some of these devises. I have always gone for what I believed at the time to be best value for money products considering whom to buy to and what it is going to be used for.
The thing is if you do a lot of research and end up buying a phone with brilliant hardware but a ****ty Chinese ROM your in trouble. Sometimes you get lucky and find a third party custom ROM and if you are REALLY lucky there will be a ”latest and greatest” CM or Paranoid ROM available and then you are really flying. Most of the Chinese devises I have bought have actually been OK in assembly quality but all of them have been pretty useless as daily phones / tablets with the OEM software filled with Chinese bloat-ware and worse.
Recently I bought my own personal Tablet ( previously bought some for my kids) and I bought the ONDA V975M which have absolutely brilliant specifications but a useless and stuttering / freezing ROM. I have searched the web only to find several Fora all hunting for the same thing. I found Russian,French,Dutch speaking Fora as well with the same questions.... Where to Root and where to obtain better ROM's.....
To me we all need a kind of crowd-funded way of requesting new ROM's. My thought goes towards the APP selling market where somebody have a idea for an APP but no programming skills and then post the idea on sites like Sellandapp.com or Fundedapps.com. This is how I think it should work:
If I want a ROM for a device I would go to this new ”Request a ROM-Site” and request a ROM, I will have to give as many details as possible on the hardware, and then I would commit myself to a certain amount of my choice (any amount can start the request) if others is willing to commit to pay for the ROM they submit a commitment form on the site. The commitment will have to be binding. If enough people is doing this the money goes up to a sum that might attract a developer whom will take the task at hand. When a developer commits to develop a ROM the Money is ”frozen” to him for a period of time (2 weeks / a month?) and when he submits the ROM he will be paid a third of the sum in the ”pot” for that request. After a month he will get another third but only if there has not been more than 20% complaints on his ROM (will encourage him/her to correct bugs) and again if there is less than 10-15% complaints after 2 month he will be paid the rest.
If there is too many bugs in the initial ROM and they are NOT corrected the now reduced ”pot” can go to a new developer whom might easily correct the first one?
All ROM's have to be open source naturally. The developer has to accept that the work he does is paid for and there is NO royalties after...
I am present a member in 3 Android Fora and I constantly see the same names popping up, so I am sure there is a lot like me who is in several different Fora, it would be great if there would be some administrators who could put this idea into the right place and maybe duplicate it to others. My point is that in this matter there is only an advantage to spread the message as far as possible, over as many Fora as possible.
I would prefer this to become a non-profit site with reference to ALL the different Fora out there but if somebody wants to make this into a business I am OK with this, I hope if they become successful they will remember me and pay a small contribution towards the idea.
I can be found on XDA and Slatedroid as user-name: Robert_it
There will always be a risk of some low life with a shattered moral trying to steal the ”pot” but if we keep it simple and trust each other I believe this would work.
I do not have the skills nor the time to start this project but I would like to start this by offering my idea's and I would be the first to commit to $15-$20 for a smooth performance ROM for the before mentioned ONDA tablet...
If I am not violating the forum rules I would like this post to be Sticky in the right place and to be copy/pasted into as many Fora in as many languages as possible. Anybody out there up for a task like this?
Here is a little side-note: I did for some time ago try to get some info of a Chinese vendor only to be turned down, I see again and again people / developers requesting software / drivers for devices, the Chinese have a culture where they steal with arms and legs from everybody and yet there are scared for anybody gaining access to there already poor software. Just imagine if a Chinese company took the chance and released ALL drivers and hardware specifications to the gurus at CyanogenMod and asked for help to create a fully working multilingual ROM for a top but cheap device?? Now would the risk of another Chinese factory copying this device be bigger than the hype, rave and huge sales-numbers such a device would create... Think about it, if we could buy a $250 Octa-core high resolution, dual sim phone with all the latest hardware AND get CyanogenMod 11 on it as well??
And YES I know the quality is not the same as a true branded phone, my Nexus-5 is lovely but I use more that one phone on a daily basis and having a “cheap” powerhouse is fun and some of these Chinese phones is actually not bad at all...
Hope I have not offended anybody or broken any forum rules, I will post this both on SlateDroid and XDA as this is where I can, again feel free to copy and paste into other Fora.
Robert

Robert

I think this is a really interesting idea and it could be something XDA could create. A few questions:
1. How much funding is enough to convince a developer to make a ROM for a given device? Is it $200? $1000? Also, you have to consider that the developer would need to purchase the tablet.
2. How would we avoid there being a big number of tablets that don't get enough funding to attract a developer? There are dozens and dozens of devices that you mean (great hardware, but terrible software), and it wouldn't be ideal if there were 2, 3, or 4 devices that have ample funding, but 25 devices that have just $20 committed.

Well i liked this Idea moreover i am very familiar with chinese Phones as myself i own 2 Karbonn Phones which are rebranded Chinese phones and i have developed lots of ROMs for them i can certainly make ROMs on requests in mass only if i get enough money to get that device
But i will be free only after my exams i.e. after march then i can be a part of this idea

Well most of the Chinese devices have mediatek chipset and they don't release kernel sources for their devices and I make custom ROMs from stock ROM only and try to add as much features as possible with stability and better battery backup
Moreover I can easily port most famous ROMs like MIUI , LewaOS etc

Sounds great. Count me in with 10 EUR.
And...I guess what you'd need is the AMlogic source code for the CPU right? The link above?
BTW has anyone asked for support from Christian Troy? Just wanna know before I write him a PM, because I don't want to annoy him.

True, it's just sad that everyone keep begging xiaomi for Android 10 update, seriously.
They should have appreciated on what xiaomi offers with this phone at this kind of price like good display, build quality and superior cameras! You are getting what you payed for.
I mean... if they, or you, really love Android 10 flavouring their A3, just grab a big selection of Android 10 custom ROM from our community, its way simpler than keep doing that. I know they may have bugs but they like Android 10 because of these... Dark mode, gesture navigation, privacy control, etc.
Now if they, or you decide to keep on begging xiaomi for Android 10 update, by all means go ahead! But this won't speed up their (xiaomi dev) development. Simple common sense, isn't it?
I strongly disagree with you, how does Xiaomi have enough resources to build MIUI 11? In fact Xiaomi has also released MIUI11 based Android 10 updates, if they have enough resources for them then they definitely work on Android One phones too.
Another thing: The reason Android One phones are supposed to get updates faster is manufacturers don't need to modify the OS much as compared to their own flavour (MIUI).
If they don't have enough resources they should not produce a Android One phone at first place. The MI A3 community is not being impatient, the update is quite late already, clearly there is no benefit of this phone having Android One program.

No brother, users are NOT getting what they paid for. Faster updates was one of the main selling point of this Phone, clearly Xiaomi has no interest in their Android One devices, their priority has always been phones with MIUI. And yes, NOT everyone has enough technical knowledge to flash custom roms.

They surely don't have as much income from Android One opposed to MIUI, which is their brand. Of course they are not working as hard on it and the teams working on MIUI are definitely bigger. The number of phones that got Q is really handful compared to Xiaomi's lineup and those that did got an update, cost a lot more than this device. THAT is whole point.

Well, I'm not sure about mid-range devices which have received Android 10 update, but If you go to Android One's website, their title says "Secure, up-to-date and easy to use", but unfortunately our devices have been outdated for quite a while now. Simple.
But yes, we can't do anything but to wait.

Outdated? We have patch from 5th December and we're in the middle of January. Sounds pretty up-to- date to me. Don't confuse the latest Android version with the latest security patch - Android One is primarily about monthly security updates. 2 Android version upgrades are a nice bonus, but with no guaranteed time frame when is it going to be received.

Xiaomi never said it will release faster update, they just said Android One provides a simple, clean UI, providing 2 yrs of software update and 3 yrs of security update only.
If they had no interest on A series phone then why they joined Android One program and manufacturing a widely successful Mi A1 in the first place? They put priority to MIUI phones because MIUI has ads in it, Xiaomi makes money from them, whereas Android One, Xiaomi didn't make any money at all. Then why they keep making Android One phones? Just because users love clean Android, that is something you can't beat with.

Spolier: this is a rant about the community and their impatience.
Ever since I bought the device 3 months ago, I immediately started searching for ROMs and Telegram groups, etc. And all the time I was seeing people spamming threads, groups and even official Xiaomi Twitter page with questions about the update and such. Some also contacted the customer support and asked them about the update, although the customer support doesn't have any idea about it. And I saw a tweet from Mi India that the update will come mid February. Most replies to that were like: "**** you xiaomi, I will never buy your phone again, you disappointed your customers....".
First of all, it was never said on the Android One page nor the Mi A3 page that the updates will be immediate.
Secondly, building and polishing an Android update to maybe millions of devices costs money and time. I'm not saying that we will get a bug free update, but something probably close to. You can't expect from a company that releases new phones every month with minimal profit margins to push updates so fast. Some flagships still didn't get the update, but their price was 2 or 3 times bigger. You get what you pay for. Appreciate that you have a really nice phone for nothing basically.
Lastly, that behavior is cancerous. Being angry at a company for not fullfiling all of your expectations is your problem. Rather than spamming groups and whatnot, spend some time finding phones that suit you better or find devs that you can donate to. Send them a dollar or two so that they can pay their building servers and drink coffee while removing bugs with no logs.

For your opinion must waiting on september.few days befor release android 11.
This is not android one my friend is meizu rom.
The most of miui took android 10 and xiaomi forget the vanila android.
This is the truth.
Is the last time buy xiaomi smartphone.never i will buy again this brand.
I have delete until now 3 brands.
Apple motorola xiaomi.
This phone has easy to unlock the boot loader and a bunch of custom ROMs. Go over to the other forums for other phones. It's crickets on the dev side.
Clean Android: good. If mi 9 had it I would jump on one. A month or two delay over the life of the phone is not a huge deal.
I have used 2 Android One phones recently. And they were soo cheap phones. Now I have the Mi A3 and this phone is more expensive than the others. (In Android One category)
And these phones updated very fast. Beta tests begin 1 week after the beta release for Pixel phones. So Android One program means an early update to me. If the update will be late why did I bought this phone?
But there is a point to mention. Another android one phone that I have purchased at the same time with A3, didn't receive Android 10 eighter. There could be a problem with the Google maybe?
i agree with you friend but please explain why A2 got update before A3?
---------- Post added at 11:27 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:21 AM ----------
And in your first point there was a promise, refer to mannu jain tweet. What is the meaning of "One of the first few device" if 2 year old nokia phone got an update, and Samsung cheap phone also received it and motorola too. Then what is the meaning of that tweet, please explain it too sir.

Nokia 7.1, motorola one action
It’s just a typical way of thinking of those who had very few or even no knowledge about how programming and the software development process works…
Keep dumping pressure to devs only makes things worse.
It's like torque down the wheel nuts without even using a proper torque wrench; imagine if a guy was hurrying tightening down the nuts by bare hands. The wheels nuts can be loosened up and fall off the car! How safe would that be? Same applies for software development, if they rushed for an update, it can be buggy as hell, who knows!
So “Patience” is definitely the key, I had the same experience with A2 last year, where people just kept begging for Android 9 update. Xiaomi rushed, and pushes out buggy update like battery drain, inconsistent UI, and more severe, bootloop in its Jan update. Now, A2 got android 10 update doesn't mean it is better, it can have bugs like UI, bluetooth, slow charging bugs. It's a last major software update for A2, Xiaomi can rush the update, can't they? I know in Xiaomi website it said "Android one provides up-to-date software experience", but there's the fact that nothing is absolute. The update can be delayed for whatever reason.
The A3 is a cheap, budget, yet mid-range phone and people still want to interpret it as a “flagship” phone. Although this is an Android One phone, Xiaomi still need to fix bugs and add their own custom features. That would generally take some times for the completion, that doesn’t even count for fixing various bugs. Even though Motorola, Nokia phones get Android 10, it’s just depends on certain devs. They can be more productive than us.
Even more surprising, when Xiaomi india replied a tweet at twitter saying that android 10 will arrive on mid-Feb. People are screwed... they f**k Xiaomi and said that they won’t buy their phone again. Well, I feel quite miserable on why are people so impatient and complaining so much, seriously.
That is all I want to say, and I don’t want to dump any more time in this weird tragedy. If you disagree with me, feel free to blame, swear, or report to me. But the Fact that 'the arrival of Android 10 has no exact date' is going to Never change! So please, stop complaining about the update.
Thanks Captain!

Thank you for this Post! got already tired of people complaining about a good, cheap phone whose dev's are taking care of a bug free release first instead of rushing things. The A3 is working purrrfeect for what you pay <3
From my point of view thinking of that mi A3 has some type of priority is as foolish as of believing that this extra time (Chinese New year) will mean a more polished and refined rom.
I think someone should learn what Android One means before starting to make a thread.

Thats completely untrue. Xiaomi have made alluded to faster android upgrades for their Android One phones. And sometimes even made direct statements on that issue - one statement was from Manu (India's VP) saying "Mi A3 is going to be one of the first few devices to get Android Q".
After all the hype about faster updates from their fanbase, now you've amazingly said Xiaomi never promised anything at all! How very Trumpian of you.
And now you've made some more incredible statements like Xiaomi is only producing Android one phones because they have to, not because they actually want to, and Xiaomi don't make any money at all on these phones. No facts, no figures, just an outright assertion.
Customs roms are nice but it has no bearing on this issue. These roms are generally not vetted, tested, checked to see if they are stable and free from malware.

Bro, would like to disagree with you here. If in the end we have to choose a custom rom, then why would I buy an Android One device. I could simply buy a MiUI based Xiaomi device and simply install custom rom (Probably that's what the Xiaomi wants). The other reason people prefer Android One device is to get rid of complications a custom rom develop.
Secondly, there's no hiding away from the fact that update is delayed for whatever reason may it be. Both the parties are at fault, I agree lots of people are baby shouting about Android 10 but the fact is and will be is that the update has been delayed. And for this no one is blaming developers. I always respect the developers. They work behind the scenes without getting applaused. But the anger of people is over Xiaomi not the developers. The fact is people showing here as if they care for developrs are actually diverting the company's fault to developrs. Xiaomi aren't focusing on Android One with majority of developers assigned to MiUI. And this device is not the one which has been sold less. This is one of the best selling phones. It offering a lot at this price.

Typical non-committal language - just consider how many vendors and devices are out there - if the Mi A3 gets Android 10 in March 2020, it might very well be part of the "first few devices". In short, there is no reason to assume Mr. Manu wasn't being truthful at the time of tweeting this (back in Aug 2019). That is what he was led to believe then.
Xiaomi should be a bit more open about the roadmap/update progress, to ease everyone's mind.
