It was a bit frustated when waiting for major update from LG for our lovely G Pro. Although using stock rom is enough, but we need more to optimise the device.
I have been using some kitkat custom roms and decided to use one of the for day to day use. My impression so far is that I wil not go back to stock unless big problem happen to my phone (i.e. when I need to go to service center ?).
So, currently I just waiting for nightly updates or other kitkat new custom rom coming ☺
How about you, guys?

I got an update notification on my stock rooted phone this morning... Still nervous about installing it.
I like AOSP roms, but I find they favor having the latest android base over working out all of the bugs. Which in turn means extra features, but lack stability. I usually find the best Roms for a phone (AOSP or stock mod) match the android base of the stock.

There are not too much options for Korean Variant F240x so unless there comes some stable custom rom had to stick with the stock.
I'm using CM 11 as it has DSP working and most custom ROMs do not.
I still wish LG would release an update for us.
The only problem I have with the ASOP and CM based roms is stability. Some have good battery life, some are feature packed, some have working navigation, some have a hard time locking or issues with sound.
I have yet to find one that just works in all aspects. That's what keeps me going back to stock. Even the G2 V5 had issues for me with signal reception (yes I flashed my modem again) and wifi transfer speeds. The only one that has it all working perfectly is the stock 4.1.2.
I wish we had more customization on that base E980 stock rom kernel tweaks and things like that, but I understand the allure of 4.4 roms versus spending dev time on an outdated build. For me though, having a phone that works consistently is more important. That's not to say there is anything wrong with the ASOP and CM roms, I just haven't found one that just works. Especially when it comes to GPS.
I see that there is the 4.2.2 update from China and I hope a Dev or 2 takes a look at that, or the new Gx that is very similar to the G Pro in hardware. Hopefully there is an option to port that to our G Pro. We'll see. For now, I still enjoy my G Pro and really have no desire to purchase anything else on the market right now.

I got a CWM bootloop......
Oh yeah, another thing I got last time was even I have unrooted (and rooted) stock rom, I could not get OTA update, while my friend got that.
So, still keep using the custom rom which has less bug.

Yep. If you are rooted and have CWM or TWRP recovery installed and you attempt to update you will get stuck in a recovery boot loop. If you are stock, non-rooted, and you install the AT&T update you will NOT be able to root - the update blocks rooting. IMHO there is nothing of value in the AT&T update. Wherever you are, stay there.

is it an auto update? I'm on slimbean 4.3. is there a thread about this to disable anything to avoid the update coming through?
I have been running the cm nightlys now for several days it has proven quite stable does a great job multitasking and running game apps. for battery life i downloaded no-frills cpu control and set the cpu to interactive. also has an option to apply on boot so when rebooting the phone it does not return to on demand. Getting 8 to 12 hrs battery life (6 with heavy gaming) and battery recharges in 2 to 4 hrs depending on which charger i use stock or aftermarket. I am very happy with cm11 at this point and been getting daily updates adding features and fixing issues. I also have run the halo harmony rom which works very well but battery life is short 4 to 6 hours heavy gaming have drained battery in 3hrs but halo interface is nice. As far as stock lg filled this thing with way to much bloat ware and even with it all disabled phone is still slower then what it is capable of being. I love they way this device runs on kit kat and will continue to run the cm nightys until they release a stable.
---------- Post added at 12:58 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:50 AM ----------
You should also know no matter which Kit Kat rom you are running you will need to do this from your dialer go to setting and select vibrate on call waiting. None of the roms have a working call waiting ringer yet but the vibrate function does work but must be selected manually after installing rom.
I have been plagued with the muffled in-call mic problem on any AOSP/CM based ROM. That has been the driving factor for staying on stock-based.

I just also realised that what you mentioned is true. What happened to me is not all calling, but some were not a problem. I think an AOSP based rom has better in-call mic than CM, CMIIW.

Thanks for this update.
I was searching high and low to see if the phone mic issue had been resolved. Many others have experienced it but nobody ever followed up.
This was the one issue that was holding this phone back (no matter what ROM). I'm told that the mic volume is useable - with a little bit of cutting in and out. Not 100% perfect yet, but useable.
Well, I already knew the device likely wasn't going to be getting an upgrade. I bought it as a temporary device. I bought a Note III last week, and am in the process of selling my G Pro.
I do miss some features from it, mostly the 5x5 home screen grid and the actually usable universal remote app built-in, but the S-Pen features outweigh them.

I had to use LG FlashTools after a freegee fiasco switching from TWRP to CWM, and ended up on stock 10k. Completely stock, no custom recovery, just 4.1.2 and rooted. If you attempt to install the update already rooted WITHOUT a custom recovery it just gives some message about root detected and reboots back normally.

When is somebody going to make a custom rom for this thing
Ever since Josh beach left us I have seen only modified stock, I prefer a rom like kit Kat killer, is anyone working on something like this ?
Cyanogen Mod 12.0 is almost ready. That's a great custom ROM.

I dont think there is a real understanding here, either a rom is stock modified (no matter how modified) or aosp based. aosp is currently being worked on so all there is stock based.

I am kind of in the same boat
Master Zen and Freeza are the other two note users here that I really followed through the Note 2/3
Freeza was a lifesaver for extracting basebands and posting them Day 1 as well as custom kernels and Zen made really good work of stock roms with simple themes.
The note 2 had instant support from the community
The Note 3 took a few months to get going..
Note 4 is at a much slower pace.. but it may have to do with the release schedule and peoples upgrades/contracts.
I actually made my own version of the stock rom.but its still slow
I ported all of my apps and took some tweaks from my note 2 and note 3 and moved them over to the Note 4 with Titanium
Wanam Xposed really has everything I needed for interface adjustments.. I run my phone at 320 pixel density ( as opposed to stock 480)
so its visually pleasing but I have so many apps i moved over Im not sure if the issues im having now are related to one of those tweaks or the phone itself.
This thing is just a lagfest... the keyboard - you hit the back button and you dont know if it accepted the command.. and you end up erasing half a paragraph, Something in touchwiz is also causing an issue with the app window and switching between apps
Ive done all the silly tweaks like window animation, gutted Svoice ( which will cause popup issues with the camera when you try to take a selfie since it loads svoice for listening to verbal commands...
Im ready to jump to CM12 honestly..
Note 3- camera a little better- performance great
Note 4- camera finally good- Performance.. OK despite being spec'd much higher..
Its sad.. but hang in there more options will be around soon- Nobody wants to dump 100s of hours into building the perfect rom on a platform that is at the end of its cycle- When android 5.0/ 5.01 official comes out from Samsung you will see a LOT MORE activity because thats what everyone is waiting for to start building on to be honest. ( And CM is nice, but we always lose features and almost every time theres either an issue with the camera or lockscreen, or texting/mms)
Wait another 2 months, or take your chances with some of the ports and new guys roms.. Anything at this point is better than the stock heap of garbage samsung touchwiz is at its current state

Either you can use Titanium backup or you can use a few different roms available that come pre-debloated!
So I would like to retract my issues with performance and lag.
I was not aware that Xposed had an issue that caused lag spikes.
Learned when I went to look for new roms- so now i notice a huge difference.. phone is much faster now.

I agree with you on this. But even with the lack of custom roms, I really have no complaints with a custom stock rom because the phone is great right out of the box. So until 5.0 comes out I really don't see investing a lot of time and effort into making a radical custom rom with 4.4.4. and then having to turn around and start all over again when 5.0 finally releases. With this said, this is the first phone that I really don't feel the need for a wildly custom rom that "adds features". Other than performance/battery tweaks, I'm perfectly fine with it the way it is. Maybe this is because I've been messing with this stuff for so long and seen so many custom roms/projects over the years with several different devices, that I finally feel content with a device without feeling the need for a custom rom. Going with an AOSP/CM based rom pretty much cripples all of the built in TW features and that's the whole point of buying a Galaxy device with a Spen and all of it's features. Let's just see what happens when 5.0 comes out.

There is.. many roms that have xposed built in will advertise "Xposed-proof" or "Xposed bug fixed"
I had no idea what they were talking about at first until i realized there was an issue with it causing lag with one of the versions

Great post, I have same sentiments and feedback.. I went back to Nexus 6 but still have hope for the Note 4. COME ON SAMSUNG!! Release the lollipop update already!!
More than the lagginess of the rom even on debloated rom (compared to nexus 6) my main gripe/thing I cant stand at all is the lack of dark themes.
Not sure how you all could be so excited about lollipop when Xposed won't work on it...

Old post... yes, but in case any others stumble upon this while looking up stuff for their note 4's... xposed works fine with Lollipop Android. I run my Sprint Note 4 with the Note5 hybrid ROM with the Xposed Framework version 86.0 (custom build by wanam / 20160709) and have no issues.
I've had an e980 for about a year now and it's been one of my favorite devices ever. Given that I paid well under $300 for an unblemished unlocked unit I can't really see the point of replacing it yet. I think it's a better value than even the One Plus One, given that equally pristine units of the e980 are currently going for $200 on eBay.
But to convince myself not to waste money I've been stopping into various carrier stores and comparing my e980 to the LG G3, Note 4 and Nexus 6, which are the only phones I'd consider buying. It's amazing how much brighter and whiter the e980 screen is compared to the G3 and Note 4. For the reading I do on the e980 (and I read on it a lot) the higher resolution offers no benefits and overall the screens are unimpressive when compared side by side. The only screen I thought was comparable, and not necessarily better, was that of the Nexus 6. But there were more similarities in quality than differences and I found the Nexus to be too big and too expensive to consider.
So I'll be sticking with my OGP for the foreseeable future and I just wanted to encourage those of you who have one to think twice about replacing it and those of you who are considering buying one to go ahead and get it. It's a great phone.
second that

Thanks for the recommendation. After going through a bit of a horror story with a z3 that cracked, got replaced, then cracked AND bent, I was looking for a replacement phone that wouldnt break my bank even further. I bought an Xperia T2 Ultra from best buy, but it was VERY unimpressive, in specs, and screen res/quality. I was planning to return it tomorrow, but didnt have a phone that really spoke to me that was in my budget. I read your review after finding a local store offering the E980 brand new, unlocked for 169 dollars. Went to the store checked it out, Its a great phone, and I walked out of the store with it for 185 including the taxes. Crappy t2 ultra is being boxed up as we speak, and I'll have lollipop on the 980 by the end of the night.

Glad I could help. That's a very good price for a new phone. I paid about $270 shipped about a year ago and considered it a good price.
Rooting the phone running Jelly Bean (which is probably what you have now) is a snap with Towelroot and Freegee (available from the Playstore). KitKat is available for the phone but of course if you take an OTA update when your phone is rooted you'll bootloop. I actually upgraded from the TOT file available here and then restored my apps and data from a Titanium backup.
However unlocking the bootloader once the phone has KitKat is not straightforward. You can root with Towelroot but Freegee no longer works to unlock the bootloader so you can install a customer recovery. You need to install GPRO_Recovery_6.0.4.4.apk (search for it here) which *does* unlock the bootloader and install a recovery. For some reason once you've done that you can then run Freegee and download either CWM or TWRP from within the app.
One more point: after you've done all this you need to freeze or delete "software update.apk" because AT&T will try to push a small unessential update that if taken while you have root will cause a boot loop.
I am running LG Stock on the phone over T-Mobile, with the AT&T apps uninstalled and Nova Launcher. I get 4GLTE everywhere it's available. I'm quite happy not to be running a custom ROM. While I usually install Cyanogen it doesn't work on this device over T-Mobile. There are problems with voice calls.

Thanks for the heads up. I was actually going through the process trying to figure out why FreeGee wasnt working, lol.
I first tried the MIUI rom (MIUI is a soft spot for me) but hung up on a bootloop, so scratched that. CM12, as you said, is borked. I just rolled back to CM11 and sailing is smooth. Hopefully the release of LG Lollipop turns into a less buggy CM12 to upgrade to in a few months.

Actually I never attempted to install CM12. Apart from the problems I had with CM11 I don't install nightlies.
So CM11 voice calls are working for you on T-Mobile? I use the T-Mobile MVNO Ptel and people I called could not hear me. This is a documented problem here with the AT&T e980 and the suggested "fix" did not help, so I've always used a modified stock.
Did you do anything other than root, run gpro recovery and then flash CM11? The recovery used should not matter.

CM11 LTE/Voice/SMS is working fine for me. I'm on full blown T-Mobile (Houston area), and Im using the latest snapshot M12 http://get.cm/get/le5, dated 11-15-2014. voice and data are fine, but it seems my battery life is crap ATM. I'll ride with it for a day or two and see if it improves.
From stock rom (4.4.2), I did this
1. Root via towelroot
2. Run gpro recovery, didnt reboot to recovery, straight back to stock OS
3. Run FreeGee to install TWRP
4. Reboot to TWRP, factory reset, install CM11 and Gapps
5. Success
I'm going to try MIUI again after this trial period, to see if TWRP makes a difference over the CWM bundled with GproRecovery. I know hypothetically the recovery SHOULDNT matter, but using the using the recovery directly after installing and running Gprorecovery, I couldnt successfully install ANYTHING, including the CM11 rom I'm currently using. Only after installing TWRP via FreeGee was I able to successfully install and reboot. Each time before I keep getting Status 7 error. Then I would delete the asserts and process would still be aborted.
-----------------
Update, scratch that. M12 does not have working blueooth. Dealbreaker for me. trying out Resurrection Rom next.

I just want to inform you about the script that fixes the t-mobile 's voice issue on cm11(don't think it works on the 12) incase you haven't heard of it. Just do a search in xda 's optimus g pro section and you should find it. Also, for those of you that still want to use cm11 like me, because the lollipop rom has as many holes as a piece of Swiss cheese. There is a newer version of cm11 by a person I think his name is Steve Lovejoy. This version i is call cm11 justlovejoy. You can find the info in the ogp's Android development section, just look for the posting under justlovejoy. Compare to the snap12 version, this one has better stability and better battery life, which I can personally atest to. With the snap12 version and other Rom, my device's battery will not charge it self while the screen is on, the battery drains faster than it's being charged. But now with the justlovejoy, my device is being charged as I'm writing this post. BTW, besides the script that fixes the voice problem, when you're using the custom rom on this Phone, you also need to change two values with the build proper editor, if you're experience problems such as talking on the Phone, and the person you're talking to can't heard you or barely; also the sound to issues with using the earphone, Bluetooth and regular.

Update, scratch that. M12 does not have working blueooth. Dealbreaker for me. trying out Resurrection Rom next.

If you're just trying out the custom kk rom, be sure to try the bliss-stalk and pac - man. I was using both of those for a while, and the customizations were awesome with those two, but had to stay with CM11 justlovejoy now because of the battery.

I did use BlissPop for a little bit, everything was working great, Right now Im using Beanstalk, running well and decent battery life. I will probably try PAC-man later on in the week. I will say though, running CM11 variant with a good Lollipop theme has sated much of my "gotta have it" itch for CM12.

I'll second that. Running the newest 3.2 version and it's smooth as butter.
just wondering if anyone still uses KK on the tab or have you moved up to LP 5.0 or 5.1 ...

I don't own tab but personally I think lollipop is a failed OS. Too bad for battery life although overall performance is better.
Back to kitkat N9005 Tweaked3.95 + LK3.17
My T800 ran for 260 days on kitkat without needing to be rebooted or tuned off even once now that is stability and i used it every day, when i did turn it off it was just to recalibrate the battery.
Too many reported problems with lollipop from less battery life, to lines on the screen, touchscreen problem, flash led problems, too much white in the stock apps and setting menu, stupid on an oled display.
I rooted my T800 and fixed the microsd problem, added AC3 support to the stock video player so why do i need kitkat, not saying i will not upgrade in the future to android m.
John.
I'm in the process of downgrade right now!
Ye i just flashed lollipop rom yesterday and now im rolling back to kk, i dont know if samsung is just trolling or what. you get a tiny status bar & notif panel then a blown up recent app manager, wtf? Plus no official xposed, and everything is just white & sky blue :/
A lot of people on SamMobile are saying that lollipop is a wasted update as it offers nothing new, and introduces a load of problems, also they are not happy at the way Samsung releases the updates.
http://www.sammobile.com/2015/06/16/samsungs-software-update-policy-is-seriously-messed-up/
John.
For now, I believe they'll keep releasing 5.0 for older devices, and 5.1 for new ones.
Older models will always be one step behind, it's called marketing and forcing "impatient customers" to upgrade their device.
Although I notice these T700 and T800 5.0 versions keep getting patched with new updates and more stability, I believe we'll only get 5.1 when Android M is released for newer devices.
Then after 1, 2, or 3 years from release date and depending on each device, they are forgotten by the manufacturer and software updates are stopped, hoping you'll buy again a newer model, regardless of your device purchase date and condition.
And this in a way, explains why the XDA community is strong.
I finished downgrading. Tablet runs smoother, I can change many things in Xposed and generally, it just works.
Yeah, I choked on the lollipop, but i loved the chocolaty goodness of kitkat, stay on kitkat and don't be a sucker.

In my opinion, I'm on LP because I find it much smoother than KK.
The newer kernel and drivers on lollipop are the main reasons for better performance, which is easily seen in Antutu scores.
The only advantages I find in KK is that it's less buggy and ram leak is better.
When you say performance are you talking about gaming? , if so a lot of people don't game or only use simple games that don't require a great deal of system performance.
I don't game, and i have not seen any laginess on kitkat, i had it running 260 days without any problems i did not reset or shut-down a single time.

With LP you do need to reboot now and then due to ram leak problem.
Let's say LP is faster than KK at the beginning and after a few days it crawls due to ram leak, until you reboot and it's pristine again for the next days.
To be honest, while my initial reactions to Lollipop on both my TAB S and my Nexus 5 was less than favorable, after finding the right alternate ROMs I am very happy. Great performance (I don't game), great battery life, theming that allows me to black out the white menus and I'm very happy on both my devices. Would I be happy on stock? I don't know, and I understand not everyone wants to flash alternate ROMs. What I do think is that Lollipop takes a while to settle in and make sure you don't have an app that is incompatible (Samsung messed with ART). If you dive into it for only a couple of days, and you are really used to KitKat, of course you will want to go back. After using Lollipop for a while now, I would never go back.
Just my opinion. Not trying to sell anything to folks who disagree.
It`s great if you can tune lollipop the way you want, but most people cannot do this, and get stuck on a buggy stock rom until the next official update, which might never arrive, thank-you Samsung.

Tend to agree. At first I wasn't keen on lollipop, but after using for a while and a little tweaking its running just fine. Dont know what this ram leak thing is all about as I've seen nothing of it. I would have thought, whatever that was, almost all manufacturers would have patched it by now including Samsung.

I have lolipop on three devices Nexus 5&10 (5.1.1) and a Tab S 10.5 (5.0.2). Right from the beginning both tablets have been rock solid with a small but noticable bump in speed. On the other hand my Nexus 5 lost its rock solid kitkat stability and no matter what I do, short of re-flashing Kitkat, I cannot seem to fix it.

Assuming you are asking about my Tab S experience, I used the guide in this forum to root without tripping Knox. I had to downgrade to stock Kitkat then root then upgrade to stock Lollipop. As soon as you downgrade using Odin you must do a factory reset in stock recovery, so yes I reset and always after the firmware change. In fact I've done the whole process several times as I've tried theming and every time I changed framework-res.apk it borked the UI and I need to do the whole process again.
At this time I've sworn off changing framework-res.apk. It is not a total write off as Flashfire back ups recover everything like a nadroid backup. Its weakness is that if you cannot start the app you can not do a restore. All that due to not wanting to loose my warranty on a two month old device so cannot flash a custom recovery like TWRP.
I did successfully flash from Lollipop B0E2 to B0E3 (boot, recover, system images) using Flashfire. That upgrade did not require a factory reset. In fact my user data, apps, root (SuperSU) and settings remained intact. All I need to do was re-flash any SuperSU policies I had previously installed along with any apps I installed in /system such as Viper4Android.
Specifically the upgrade and resulting experience was almost identical to upgrading Lollipop on my Nexus devices (5.0 through to 5.1.1), which is very easy and never required a factory reset. Although I usually clear the cache/dalvik just to be safe.
For those of you who will unlock the bootloader & root your brand new 5X. Which rom & kernel combination are you hoping to flash (either based on previous experience or from what you have heard) ?

Am i the only person that stopped rooting and flashing roms when they got their n5? I used every top of the line Android phone on T-Mobile, was a flash addict. Got my n5, it was perfect, and people were talking about how rooting the n5's were showing slower data speeds. I didn't want to chance slower speeds and vanilla Android runs too good to play with. Missed the addons from other roms but it wasn't worth it me.

On my moto G 2014 I unlocked and rooted but didn't flash (rom scene isn't close as good as nexus I think) only used stock. Only rooted to use adaway and cf lumen. I wish we can root our phones without unlocking bootloader.

I am going to be unrooted and completely stock, like you. Marshmallow added in features that makes custom ROMs less of an appeal to me. I would like Android Pay to work
From what I can see Nexuses have no real need to have a custom rom installed (compared to other smartphones). Also Android Pay will not work if rooted.
Would people agree ?

I agree. I used to just like flashing roms to see new things, but man, when a phone works as good as an n5 right out of the box, its hard to want to mess with that.

Same here... plus I have some root apps I can't live without. I don't really care about custom roms on the Nexus, but like you I won't be able to stop myself, I'm sure. I'd like for Android Pay to work though, but not necessary.

What are the benefits of Android Pay ?
Being in Canada and not being eligible for Android pay there is no adverse affect of rooting. Ideally would be running stock + xposed/gravitybox but one can only speculate when that will be available on 6.0. Until then something ASOP or stock based that includes extended reboot menu, circle battery mod, multiwindow, and additional quick setting toggles

You can pay with your phone at 23% of the stores in America lol lol. Which it's pointless. Now if you had Samsung pay that would be a different story, but you don't so let the rooting begin

You can be embarrassed holding up the checkout line trying to use Android Pay while your pay card rests in your back pocket. The only use I ever see for this stuff is if you actually forget your card. Then it's great to be able to pay with a phone. And at a drive-thru or restaurant, they take your card.
Cataclysm ROM -PERIOD!
Hands down smoothest ROM I have ever used on any Nexus phone, including stock Google. It is a little different but has everything I could ever want. The battery life is amazing. I've tried others, but have stayed with Cataclysm with my N5 2013.

@Riverdales27 He's back now ?
I'm usually stock with some kernel like franco or elemetnalx.
Also, I love GravityBox but I guess we'll have to wait a long time for that to work on M.
I'd be looking for put SlimROM on there as soon as possible, I have it all customised just the way I like it on my Nexus 5.
Hopefully none. I didn't get to play around with Marshmallow yet and I hope the new features are enough to make me stay stock. I'm a big fan of CM's Privacy Guard and I want to see how extensive the new Marshmallow one is, that and quick toggles customization. If I'm not satisfied, I'll probably flash CM 13 nightlies when they're available.
I got a killer deal on a new, still-in-the-box Z1 Compact, and I'm wondering what the best thing to do is with regard to updating to the latest build. I've heard all the horror stories about the 5.1.1 update that I'm sure will be my only "automatic" option for ever upgrading it from its default state.
I'm not all that well versed on the particulars of each version of Android, so I guess what I need to know is if this latest 5.1.1 build is universally bad for everyone with this phone. Since some have reported new batteries resolving the problem, do you think it'll work on a brand new, never-touched Z1C (I haven't even turned it on yet)?
And if you do advise against Lollipop, how screwed am I sticking with an old Android version? Are there a lot of apps that require Lollipop? Part of the killer deal was no warranty, so I've only got one shot at this.
SImply put: If someone gave you a brand new Z1C and it was a "use it or lose it" situation, what would you?
Thanks in advance.
Lucky you!
If I got a brand new Z1C I'd configure it precisely the way I've got it.
Put the latest CM 11 nightly on it (there's a guy in the CM 11 thread who regularly updates the build to include Google's latest security patches) and also the Xposed modules I'm using. It's just so well configured right now, I'm even going to put a new battery in it next week since it's still really the best phone for me.
(Will consider ditching it for the Z3C later this year though.)
Right now? You may accept the deal! If there's no warranty and want a Stock-yet-Rooted experience you could go with a Stock based ROM (you can find plenty in the forum, based on 5.1.1 or 4.4.4, I suggest you to look ad Dstriker, based on 5.1.1)! Or you could get a CM based ROM like the Resurrection. Whatever you'll decide, work from that point with Xposed modules, Root apps etc.. to enhance your experience (if that really matters to you, otherwise just stick with the stock one).
I had the same problem about a week ago.
What I did was:
*updated it to latest firmware
*rooted with King Root
*backed up TA
*unlocked bootloader
*installed [KERNEL][Z1C][5.0-5.1][F2FS] Advanced-Kernel v16.0[11/16/2015]
*converted data & cache partition to F2FS
*installed [ROM][Z1C][LP][1.216][LB/UB]DstrikerZ1 Kai ROM SP001[27-Nov][Z5 LOOKS and FEATURES]
*installed Xposed
*did factory reset, cache and dalvik cache
*installed [Z~Z5 Series][EXRxTHS]SONY DRM FUNCTION RESTORATION FOR UB DEVICE
*rebooted to os
*Profit
At the moment after three days of usage 54% battery left. And the phone is flying :good:
If battery is your #1 priority, stay with stock or stock-based KK. I don't think there's much of any issues with app compatibility. However, I also haven't experienced any of the LP 'nightmares' some have reported. I've been on LP with this phone since it came out, and the battery drain is the only considerable downside I've found, and there are some roms that offer excellent relative battery performance, (dstriker, munjeni's 270, Oregon69's MIUI port...), and with battery saving tweaks, possibly comparable to KK. I would say go with latest version and try it out.
For battery, stock KK4.4.4 is still the best. Although, I'm running 5.1.1 and actually, it still brings me through two! complete days (i'm not a gamer, so light user).
However, with LTE / 4g switched on running my LP5.1.1, battery is going down like the Titanic on the iceberg.....so I only switch on LTE when really needed.
5.1.1 is just fine, battery difference between it and KK was negligible for me and other than that it runs very well
only downside is that ugly as hell blue status bar
5.1.1 is fine for me as well, 2-3 days regularly (no gaming).
I have stock 5.1.1, Locked Bootloader, but still have root access and TWRP.
Not had any problems(Needed to modify RW on SD card) and battery seems to be good.
