Hi All,
My diamond screen suddenly stopped responding. The screen calibration is also not working. I tried a hard reset and after that, it stopped at the screen 'Tap the screen to setup your windows phone'. I am not even able to do that. Any help is appreciable. Thanks in advance.

Try re-flashing a rom, or maybe your touch screen (digitizer) needs replacing, if you do this yourself i would recommend buying the digitizer and lcd together as one, it will make a whole lot easier trust me lol. The lcd screen is easy to break.
Had this problem, too, but since I couldn't get back to stock SPL at that time I put my Diamond into a shelf for about 2 days.
When I then tried to get back to stock SPL the screen suddenly responded again.
So, try to take off the battery for a long time (more than a day) and hope it recovers.
Didn't have the problem again.

I had a similar problem solved with changing the touch screen since the phone was under warranty I have to revert to the stock SPL and stock ROM before I gave it for service. If your phone is not under warranty you can buy the touch screen from ebay.com with a manual and all required instruments for replacing the same.
This happened to me because I was talking to someone over an hour in a humid place which caused sweat to get into the phone through the speakers.

Solution
Okay, I've just had this problem with an HTC Touch, and I think this works with any HTC that has a "digitizer" rather than an all-in-one touchscreen (I think newer phones have digitisers).
I'm not sure if this will always work, but I've just done it - sometimes the inactive touch screen is "broken" because the layers are stuck together (so the phone can't tell where the touch is, hence unresponsive). With mine, I looked at the screen side on and could see a kind of "oily" patch in the light.
The solution is to get masking/gaffa tape - the very sticky brown one. Stick it down on the screen/digitizer and then keep pulling it off - this pulls the layers from each other. I kept repeating this lots before it worked - and in the end I pulled the top layer completely off (I think you should pull from the top of the phone, as the layers need to be attached at the bottom of the screen/digitizer). Once it pulled away, I gently lay it back down (after panicking!!) and hey presto it started working again.
Good luck!

Putting the phone in the fridge makes screen work!
I know this is an old thread but why does putting the phone in the fridge for a few minutes make the touch screen work? Even if I put it out of a moving car and it cools down, then it works for a bit.
Anyone know why this is and how I can fix the phone permanently?
Last night I was out and during the night I pulled my desire z out of my pocket to find that the screen was dead, the soft touch buttons were still lit up and working but no display. I pulled the battery and tried to reboot and no luck, you can hear it booting and even unlock/receive calls and txts etc once it has booted up just the screen stays blank the whole time so have to do everything on feel.
Essentially does this just mean my screen has a hardware fault? is it worth trying to fix? I assume the only option would be to purchase a replacement screen and dissemble and reassemble it?
(warranty is not worth it as I live in New Zealand and would have to send my phone back to the UK where I bought it from, also I have dropped it quite a few times so probably voided anyway...)
Thanks in advance for any input
Does it never display anything? So not even a flash during boot or something?
Because then it is probably a hardware problem.
Since the soft touch buttons do still work I think there might be a little crack or something in the flat cable that connects the bottom half with the top.
Maybe you could check whether you can see if the cable is broken or not?
The best thing to do then is to look for a replacement and try to fix it yourself or bring it to a shop where they can do it for you.
No it never displays anything, completely dead the whole time. The touch input is still working though as I answered a phone call this morning on it by making the usual gesture just without being able to see anything. Doesnt seem to be anything wrong with the cable itself as far as I can see. Yea might have to get someone to have a look at it.
My phone is acting the same. I dropped my phone in the pond before, but pulled battery out on time and had it in rice for a day. My phone was still working for about two weeks after that incident. I dropped it and had one little crack at the top of the screen and about a week after that it died when I had a water balloon fight with the phone in my pocket. D;
Do any of you know if the replacement lcd screen/digitizer for the Desire Z would work for the G2?
I had the same thing happening to my G2 screen, only it was intermittently working for a little while, then just completely died and wouldn't work. It was doing this crazy flickering thing then the back light wouldn't go on at all. If I held the phone at a certain angle in the sun, I could see that the pixels were indeed working on the display, but there was no backlight to make them normally visible.
So I purchased a replacement screen from ebay and carefully followed the directions on a youtube video for a G2 take apart. Its not a hard task to take apart and get down to the screen itself. It was rather easy. After putting it back together the screen still didn't work! Sounds work, i can also receive calls etc. But the screen still doesn't work!
Is there any way that this could be a software issue?
Oh and PS, I believe the LCD replacement would work for both the desire Z and the G2. They are identical phones after all right? I'd say its a safe bet. The screen I bought was only 35 bucks. Didn't think that was a bad deal.
Another dead screen or something else?
Few days ago my phone fell of the couch onto a rug - no big deal, so far it has survived much worse, but when I picked it up, the colors were all messed up - overly green and red. Tried restarting - no luck. Everything worked fine, except the colors, but then the screen turned of completely. I could hear notifications, phonecalls, but the screen was dead. After some tapping on the screen, it turned on again - with ****ed up colors. Then started flickering and was gone again. Few more times I could turn it on by tapping before it was dead for good.
Figured, after all these drops it survived, maybe the screen connector is a bit loose. I mean, I could sometime get a contact when tapping it, so I dissasambled it completely, secured all the connection, put it all back tougether and fired up - same thing: dead screen, phone working.
Has anyone had such problem before? Is it screen that is dead, or connector or... I have no clue... I would like try to fix it on my own, with some replacement parts I could get on ebay - but, what gave?
Hi,
i appoligize in advance if this has been asked before, but as search is down i cant see if its been asked.
ok so heres the problem
a friend of mine dropped her wildfire s (it is completly std, on t-mobile in the uk), so being the nice guy i am and knowing a bit about mobiles, i said id take a look, and try to fix it. i looked at several guides, all std stuff. so i ordered the replacement digitizer, and got round to fitting it, before i finished i checked for any bits that i mite have forgotten. all there. clipped it back together and powered it on.
nothing, no light from the lcd, no light from anything, it did vibrate though, so i know it turned on.
so i took it apart again, checked and rechecked all connections, all seemed fine, i did notice there was no white cover on the lcd ribbon connector, there never was as i didnt have to remove one. i checked the ribbon itself and it looked alittle cracked, so i ordered a lcd, this is now fitted, battery is charged, and im still getting nothing from the lcd, i do however have an orange flashing light in the right speaker grill.
so here is where i need help,
how do i go about getting the thing to work, i dont wanna have to buy her a new phone, as i was only doing this as a favour, but i feel responsible for it.

Hi
I had this once with my wildfire as well (but not when I replaced the screen). When I drained my battery too much (don't ask) and I connected it to the power cord, the only life I got from it was the orange-blinking led. For the rest it did nothing.
The first time I just left it for a whole day on the charger. At a specific point, the led stopped blinking and I could get the device on.
The second time I rebooted the phone in the bootloader, and let it charge for, again, one day. You won't see that it is charging (i.e. you won't see the led color) and charging in bootloader goes EXTREMELY slow, but it charges nevertheless. So take your time for it, if you try this.
Good luck with it
Erwin
Hello there guys! First than anything, thanks for your time in reading this.
This is not the kind of post that "help!! asap! need help NOW!" etc.
I already replaced my wife's phone, but I'm curious what happen to the previews z5 Premium
She dropped the like in a WWF ring. The screen exploded in million pieces. Not just the digitalizer, the image on the lcd was broken too. But responsive some how to the power button and volumen (some parts on the screen shows the image). I turned the phone off, and bought the replace screen online.
I took the phone apart. I did this on a z1 and 3 times on a z2. On those cases I did an neanderthal work. careless. and in all cases works perfectly. This time I read guides and saw like 5 videos, and I did it perfectly. No broken parts, no plastics cracks, nothing, all smooth. I almost proud on what an excellent work I did (btw, some videos shows taking the whole phone appart (I follow them) but I guess its not need to take the mainboard out, and the buttons either, anyway).
I replaced the screen, connected everything, I just not put the back cover, to first test if the phone turn on.
The phone turn on, I see the LCD back light, but no image. After a couple of seconds, the backlight goes off and 5 red lights flash. and then it restart again. (It goes on a loop).
I took the battery off. I did the power+vol+, I use the internal switch to power it off, etc and keep doing the same.
I started on flashmode (it works btw) which is holding vol - a connecting to pc. (screen in this mode is off). I used flashtool and flashed the last oficial rom, first without wiping, second try I wiped ALL.
Still the phone doesn't go on.
Anyone have any idea?
I had the old scren, all braked, I connected it outside to test if the new screen its the problem. But it do the same. just backlight and 5 red blinks
May be there is something that I can still do.
In any case! thank you and have a great day!
Some kind of short is the only thing I can think of.
Hey Code! thanks for your reply. That can be a possibility. When I have more time I will take it aparta and re ensamble it, double checking. But I'm guessing something in the mainboard is broken. May be when I took the mainboard out I bend it too much. I don't know. I will post if I have any progress.
Usually, when the red light flashes and then goes to bootloop, it's a bad kernel, even though I don't really see how it could have messed up here... But I already had my kernel broken for no apparent reason, like the phone reboots itself, and gets stuck in a bootloop with red lights.
I see you changed the Rom, but did you also flash the boot.img? Maybe try another one? Or maybe I'm just really off ^^
Hey @deftoner did you managed to fix it cuz i'm facing the exact same problem as you after screen replacement.
Not yet. When I got the time, I will take it apart and re built it. Just in case that I miss something. I was thinking that may be I bend the motherboard too much when I took it out the first time. Its the only thing that I can think off. If I have any news I will post it here. Please if you can do the same
The battery on my HTC 10 was completely shot and needed to be replaced. I'm a careful person by nature and this being my first phone repair, I bought an extra screen just in case something happened getting it apart. Followed a guide by jerryrigeverything on how to take apart the phone, got the battery replaced, everything seemed to go smoothly. When I went to test the display before screwing everything together, the new screen I installed lit up, but the right half of the display only showed as a repeating segment from the middle of the screen. Thinking the connector was loose, I disconnected and reconnected the display and made sure everything was tight: same problem. I reinstalled the original display, which I made sure had worked after cutting through the adhesive before I disconnected it, and now the old display is also showing the same issue.
The touch screen on the broken side of the display still works, I'm able to type PIN numbers and whatnot even though I can't see them properly. Only thing I can think of is maybe the connection actually got some debris or something inside of it? I don't think I damaged anything, as I was super careful, but it was also my first time opening up a phone.
Sorry for the inefficiently worded post. Any help would be really appreciated.
Did you resolve this?
I have exactly the same issue you describe after my screen replacement (with two new screens) Believing the first was a dud.
I have done many screens/batteries on my m7, m8's previously never having a problem.
I'm currently back to running my M8 and miss my 10!
Anyone reading this and has any suggestions they are all welcome!!
Thank you in advance
Exactly the same issue this guy has
https://youtu.be/RpdCuMiTOn8
I'm now wondering if it is just bad aftermarket screens?
Has anyone else replaced their screen successfully, if so where did you get the screen?
Thanks Rory
I have been having the same problem. I just tested screen number 4 that has the same exact problem. Is there a specific brand that is known to test well?
I dropped my 10 in water at work...believe it was a salty water at that. It stopped working completely. I opened the phone to check the internal components for damage and I broke the LCD doing so. I replaced the battery and the screen at almost the same time. I think it may have been a week or two apart.
The battery is still working. The screen worked initially but the phone kept getting really hot and the heat kills the phone. I tried keeping it cool at all times which kept it operational. It hasn't been activated since I quickly replaced the phone with another of my lines upgrades. I went back to the phone to check it out and try using it as a replacement for my daughter but the screen no longer works.
The battery charges just fine...the led light indicates that well. I've tried reinstalling it several times with no success getting the screen working again. I tried the original screen to check and I could see light and it was responding but its not usable so I'm stuck with a phone that has a new non-working display. I think the brand was called DIYRepair or similar.
If anyone has encountered this and has advice...I'd be happy to try anything.
