Remotely control camera? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note 3

Is there a device a can get to snap a picture remotely? I'm trying to use my phone to take a picture of my family for our Christmas card. My Note 3 camera is actually better than my old point and shoot, so I'd like to use it. I'm hoping there is some way I can press the button on my bluetooth headset to snap the picture instead of having to touch the phone screen.
I could connect a tv to the phone and mirror the screen so I can see what the picture will look like before snapping it, right?

Why not use the timer
NOTE 3

Turn on voice command and you can say shoot, cheese, and like 2 other words and it'll take a pic for you. I tried it last night since I got this thing yesterday and it works great

The smartq zwatch had this feature along with many other cool features. It's only $99 and is a fully featured smart watch. You should really check it out in the Other Watches forum.

SONY's Smart watch review with Xperia Ion.

so i decided y not buy the smart watch since i already have the headset pro to see how this comes in handy.
So first of the smart watch and head set pro do the same sh*t, only difference besides there looks is the watch has more apps.
Now even thou they do mostly the same thing. The watch does work good in most part's. Easily with phone outta sight ,you can check your message ,fb,tw,Google ect and even check weather and answer calls. Control music and volume. I find all of this to work out pretty well when all 3 devices are snyc, phone, watch, headset.
The bad and good.
The watch when not in use goes into sleep mode ,so in order to see the time you gotta double tab screen. But you can switch options to different watch looks to keep the screen on according to movement . Thats kool and all but can kill battery life quick. I have no problem tapping lol.
one Down Fall i notice .
Even thou i can read txt message, set up a reply option or call, i wish i can actually type and reply from the damn watch itself
Good example, Google maps for the watch is one of the best application on here, keyboard pops up, easy to use. Type in any location from the watch easy have a gps on my hand only if it talked. So they could have easily done this for texting.
Using all 3 device in public like on bus or at work, works out very well for me. Only time you gotta pull ur phone is when its time to reply to a text and its so anyyoing knowing this watch can do so much more.
Well am not done with this review ill be back with more so i hope this helps out anyone even if your not interested. It's always good to have information Laying around in case lol.
IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, LET ME KNOW.

Read a lot of reviews online about this and decided NOT to buy it. Horrible screen, clumsy to use, etc.

Ditto. Not because of quality, but function versus dollars. However I know there's 3rd party mods/apps for the watch, I'd like to hear more on those in execution.
Maybe Spectre can chime in too with his review.

I really like the smart watch. I've used it numerous times to change ring volume to vibrate or silent, view text and emails without pulling my phone out. Its nice to be able to see whether an email it txt is important and needs a reply right away or not without getting your phone out.
Honestly you don't really think you would use it that much until you actually have it. My biggest complaint is that the watch screen isn't bright enough when in direct sunlight.
The google maps app is awesome. I haven't used a lot of the other third party apps.
I don't have a problem with how the phone functions as far as having to double tap the screen or push the side button to turn the screen on. Swiping is easy. The apps could use some more function like replies and stuff but honestly that's not really the idea behind it. Its quick access to view emails, txt, Facebook, twitter and other things without having to use the phone in hand and it does that real well.

I have one, and I find it to be very useful. My watch was a present. I thought it was going to be a useless gimmick, but now I can barely live without it.
On the way to work (on the bus), I usually have music playing. I can leave my phone in my pocket, and switch tracks easily. At home I often connect my phone to a dock for playing music. Again, I use my watch as a remote.
I prefer to have my phone on silent/vibrate, but I have missed calls because I do not always notice the vibration. With my watch, the watch vibrates on a call! I never miss calls now.
Having email alerts and SMS alerts is pretty handy. I have wired up my home alarm system to my home network - it sends emails when my alarm goes off. These come straight through to my watch now.
The screen is very good indoors. Outside, it is pretty hard to read in direct sunlight, and not great (but usable) in shade.
The UI is pretty poorly thought out. A back button would make life much easier. To go "back" on the watch, you need to do a pinch gesture. This is pretty hard on a tiny screen. A hardware back button could easily be located on the left side of the watch.
One puzzling thing is that the API does not allow 3rd party developers to add new watch faces. I would have thought this would be a big selling point. Writing a watch face as a complete 3rd party app does not work as well, as it tends to chew more battery and doesn't integrate with the other apps properly.
The connection to the charger is stupid, whoever thought of it should be ashamed. It is very finicky. I've found the best way to deal with it, is to wrap a rubber band around the watch and cable - otherwise it may stop charging (it sucks to have it go flat 30 minutes after getting to work).
The bluetooth connection uses v2, not v3 - so it uses more battery than it needs to. Having the watch at a distance from the phone will cause it to go through batteries a lot faster.
The watch itself is relatively tough, but the clip is not. I actually broke one of the little clips that hold the watch to the watch strap. Luckily for me, the guys at Sony Central in Brisbane had a watch that had a broken screen - so they helped me to transfer the clip from that watch onto mine (the alternative was to wait for 4 weeks for a warranty repair).
On the whole, I like the watch! It's not perfect, but it is very usable.
The good
Music control
Alerts
Vibrate on call
The bad
Clip is fragile
Charging connection sucks
Cannot add 3rd party watch faces
Screen sucks in sunlight

What would you like to see on the Note 3?

I know the Note 3 won't come out till mid to late next year. What improvement or features would you like to see? Let me start.
1.8-2.0 ghz quad core processor, 3500+ mah battery, 5.5" screen is big enough, output projector, 3gb ram, 3-5mp front camera, better camera lens, android 4.2-5.0, 1080p display, super loud speaker with no distortion.
Sent from my SGH-T889 using xda premium
Teleportation, Invisibility cloaking and time traveling features.
but seriously, the Note 2 just got here and I am finding cool new features that I love. I would want more s-pen capability, more multi tasking features, of course latest version of Android, Screen recording as shown on the ad, maybe a better design of the phone. So far I love the phone and spend more time on it than on a computer.
What I would like to see from the Note 3? Since the Note 2 just came out I couldn't say off hand. The one thing I would love to see from Samsung is a product delivered to every market with the same features.
Wireless charging through all models for starters. As for the rest it would depend on what is out for the tech behind the third. I do think it is already big enough, so lets hope they don't try to push the size up anymore.
Bluetooth headset S pen which charges when put back into the slot.
1080P display
Keep everything the same relative to other future devices.
Increase the screen to make it king of the hill.
-In cell
-Response time
-ppi
-etc...
- Six-Core Processor
- 4 GB RAM
- 1080HD Screen
- MAKING UPDATES AVAILABLE RIGHT AWAY! NO BLOATWARE.
Also a 6" screen.
Sent from my SGH-T889 using xda premium
"50" inch projector
I think the screen shouldnt get much bigger, maybe they could take out a bit from the size and top bezel, but I already accidentally hit onscreen buttons when trying to hit back or menu. That or maybe just go to virtual keys and keep the phone the same size but almost all screen. It's hard to say though.
1080 screen because why not? Also I would like the multitasking to go up, primarily maybe have a dock mode that pretty much turns the phone into a chrome book, so then something like the laptop dock would make more sense. That way I could bring around a really light laptop (as it would pretty much be a keyboard, screen, battery, and connector) that I could hook my phone up to and get a 1080 display that's 12+", and I also wouldn't have to worry about which files were located where (minus google drive, which I mostly use, so it's not a big deal really).
Umm, increased battery life, and increased internal memory. Pretty much, let me replace my work laptop, even if I still need a gaming laptop for some windows only games. Also maybe something that would let me run desktop linux software... but that again is up to google more than samsung really.
Every Note 3 released with the same hardware features.
Every Note 3 with wireless charging.
5.75 to 6" screen.
The option to show signal strength in dbm on the notification bar, this is incredibly useful when using the phone as a wireless hot spot.
Cleary it will be slightly better than the S4 but I love it thus far . IF we make it passed 12/21/12 I wont upgrade unti the Note 4

Lolll most of the people complained about the note2s price and all of you are describing a handset that would easily cost almost a grand. Doubt it will happen anytime soon loll
Sent from my SGH-T889 using xda app-developers app
1080 Res would be nice. Bigger battery. Remove the home and touch buttons and add buttons like the Nexus devices. Wireless charging out the box. Some extra buttons on the s pen to launch apps or quicker access to gestures. I would like to see Touchwiz taking advantage of the larger screen. Still running a 4 x 4 grid on a 5.5 screen makes no sense. Official desk and car docks that support cases and have wireless charging ability. More crafty and cleaver official accessories.
I would like to see dual micro sdcard slot. Our phones are becoming our laptops. Slap in two 64gb cards or by than, when the normal is 128gb. Having two 128gb cards would be outstanding.

That does remind me though. Something hardware related and something not. Hardware related, perhaps an eraser on the s-pen you get with the device. Secondly, more software support for creative/drawing-type apps, but that will come in time with more adoption of s-pen devices.
Vanilla android
Sent from my SGH-T889 using Tapatalk 2
1080P is necessary - I can see the pixels when I remove my glasses. Also virtual function keys coz pushing home with the s-pen is interrupting. Can't think anymore, vanilla android or no bloatware is contradicting the company's business strategy so not realistic

[Q] Lost S-Pen: any way to know the time it happened?

Hi everyone.
I had my SGN2 in blocking mode since yesterday and today at lunch I noticed I didn't have my S-Pen on the phone... Now I don't know where it is!
I don't remember when was the exact last time I used it.
I have the S Pen keeper feature turned on. Is it possible to know the last time it detected the S-Pen nearby?
Also, would it be possible to reverse the S Pen keeper function? That is, to show a warning when it's nearby?
Thanks in advance.
The S-pen keeper doesn't detect when the S-pen is near the phone, it detects when the phone move without having the S-pen.
So, unfortunately your phone won't alert you when you will be close to the stylus :-\
I have no idea whether the phone has a "s-pen log", but it would be a interesting feature to add if not.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium
Hmm, is there a notification log (I'm quite new with Android)? I found some apps to have one, so maybe we don't have function natively.
I ask this because I could've cleared a bunch of notifications without noticing the S Pen warning.
I do wonder, if the S pen would drop, without knowing it?
So... is the pen that comes with SGN equal to the one in SGN2? How about the one that comes SGN10.1?

my s pen is somewhere in my room!
The strangest thing happens to me. I noticed I had lost my s pen. So I ordered a new one. But when I went to leave my bedroom this morning I got a vibration from my phone saying s pen disconnected. My phone must have reaquired the pen in the room overnight somehow...so I went back in the room and looked for it...but couldn't find it. Then I went out of the room again...and nothing happened. Is there a way of 'searching' for the pen? If not how did my phone reaquire it? And what does the pen icon in the notification area mean? (connected? Or lost?)
Hi,
I dont think your note re acquired the spen. The notification will have been when the note sensed that you were walking with the spen not attached. Prob means you had it recently tho...

If you think you used s-note with the s-pen last then check what time it saved its latest changes at and figure out where you were at that time.

[Q] Smart stay - yay or nay

so I have just recently purchased my note8 and Im still trying to get the hang of it. I notice that I frequently qet message saying that the smart stay can't detect my eyes.
I also notice that I rarely see the eye icon lights up (I assume its there to indicate that the feature is active).and one time, the screen went blank just right after the eye lit up.
maybe, speaking from my limited exp, just maybe, the smart stay works better on devices with smaller display as the variance of the eyes/ face orientation will be much smaller compared to on an 8"device.
While I understand the benefits, the question is how many of you find this feature reliable on this tablet? pls feel free to share your experience on how it performs on smaller devices.
Im thinking I might as well turn it off in exchange for some extra battery life.
thanks / Luke
Can't share any experience using this feature as turning it off was the very first thing I did after purchasing my device
I think the drain should be way too high since it uses the front camera all the time, doesn't it? Anyway, it happens maybe once a week that the display turns off when I'm actually looking at it - at most. And just before the display turning off it dims the screen, so there is still some time to react..
Gesendet von meinem GT-N5100 mit Tapatalk 2
I find it doesn't work as well in the dark as my GS3 did under earlier firmware and I do often get the icon. But smart stay does work well for me. Unless I'm laying down on my side.

Mine only checks a few seconds before the screen is set to time out. Ie. If the screen is set to stay on for 2 minutes, it will check at about 1:50 of inactivity.
I kind of like it except, as posted above, it can be a little iffy in low light.

I really think it is almost completely useless and simply a waste of battery. I've also disabled lock screen. Nobody touches this tablet but me. When I use it I want it instant on, and when I'm done I turn the screen off myself. I hate my devices trying to decide for themselves when to switch off, and first thing I always TAKE THE POWER BACK!
Thanks for the feedback everyone. l have been trying it off and on but at the end I would have to agree that it doesn't work for me. I cant say how much power saving I get by turning it off but it feels good to know that some resources are relieved for something else.
I use it on my note 2 (8 months now) and note 8.... it doesn't burn much battery.... it works better on the note 2 because your face is exactly straight on the camera... On the tablet.. Usually we hold it slightly at an angle.. So the camera sometimes misses off

After reading this topic, I charged my Note 2 and disabled this feature to try to get more bvattery life.
The difference is like night and day. The screen consumes a lot less power (according to the JB's Battery widget) and the battery lasts much longer.
i've never used this on any of my devices. i always seem to have this odd habit of turning off electronics when i'm not using them
A big NAY for me, I just haven't been able to get it to work even a single time, keep getting the "Smart stay cannot detect your Eyes" message again.
Is it that bad, even in other device like the S3 or S4? S4 has so many features(like the smart pause based on it, makes me think I can't use it properly), any tips how to better the usability(other than the usual ones given by Samsung)?

Set up for TV out? MHL?

If I want to run video from my OGP to my tv, and I don't want to do it wirelessly, what are the details in doing a MHL to HDMI? I'm pretty sure this can be done just not sure about display accuracy and bugs.

Fantastic (sarcasm). Just another reason for me to curse android all day long.
And another thing, why do 3/4 of my photos always blurry?
The iPhone 4s, a device made three years ago, hardly ever had a blurry pic.
Unfortunately, Camera has stopped.
I see you made a few post complaining about the g pro and now android.
1. I have never gotten a blury picture taken by this phone.
2. (At least not in my case) I never needed an hdmi cable for any phone i owned. I always stream wirelessly to my tv via xbox360.
Im beginning to think you may have gotten a defective device and thats why your s***t is not working like it should.
Anyways nothing agains you. Just saying.
Oh and here is a pic i took with this phone.
No blury
I get good pics with this phone, as for TV out, I use chromecast, best 35 bucks I have ever spent
I can take good pics with this phone. But not quickly. I'm not able to point and shoot.. I have to hold it real steady.
I don't want to leave android and go back to iPhone. Depressing. I like too many things about android. I guess you could say it's a love-hate relationship.
