Is there a way to make a rooted and SIM-unlocked DInc2 usable on AT&T and T-Mo networks in the US? Any sort of flashable upgrade to any internal components, hacked radio or whatnot that would achieve that purpose?
Search the forum. There you will find the out that this can be done. As well as the fact you shouldn't post questions in the dev section.

I have searched and I couldn't find much on this topic either. Granted I did it using tapatalk which leaves a bit to be desired in the search department. My point is that it might be more helpful overall to just answer the question rather than refuse simply because someone missed a thread and can't manage to find it using search for some reason.

If it is, I can't find it.
I have re-posted the question in the General forum, but all I got there so far is more of the same arrogant ignorance that some of the replies demonstrated here.
I believe it is perfectly clear from my original post that the phone is _already_ SIM unlocked and rooted.
Let's move further discussion to the General forum to avoid moderators' wrath.
If I'm not mistaken its a global phone. However the GSM frequency used abroad is different than in the states. Therefore I don't think it's possible.

More and more custom mods on this site are moving to another forum, and posts in forum sections seems to point away from xda forum when you click download?
Is it really getting so bad for xda forum, that developers starts to link outside this forum?
Seems the rules around this forum are getting to strict.
Anyone else noticed?
Only ones ive ever seen linking to a different forum are villain roms,

Problem is...No other community would have such a large fan base, XDA has well over 400K users I'm assuming, finding another development site like this would be hard. XDA has been around for some time, and many are using this place to share their work and work with others. If Devs leave perm, they won't have as much of an impact IMHO.
It is better as a developer for your portfolio to link your work from your own site. just because a developer links to his own site does not mean they are leaving this wonderful site. XDA in my opinion is far better than Microsofts apphub forums any day plus most are nice here compared to other sites.

Most are nice... But its been getting worse. Back when winmo ruled xda, I never saw near the amount of flaming or just terrible conduct in general. Thus this new "iron fist" method by the mods.

Ok, I just noticed a desire rom and i remember several roms from acer and asus being on other sites as well.
maybe just team specific, but it seems a little strange that i find it here, and then in some cases i need to register to download from another site. could also just be a way to pull some members to their site.
The only devs that leave are the ones that aren't getting their own way, and leave in the huff because they think they are entitled to more. No one forces them to leave.
There are still a huge number of devs still producing great work on xda
The developers have two options:
Either post their developments in this forum
Or host their developments on their personal dedicated website.
Most of the developers follow both the routes. I doubt if there's any other option, that can get them an instant large user-base.
a very good example is CyanogenMod
he has his own website/forum, yet his ROMs are everywhere
so it's not strange to see ROMs here linked out to their own download places
as there are Thousand if not Million of fans for any given ROM
some DEV can afford their own website, some other cannot, and they will just host it where they feel more comfortable with as simple as that
I'm guessing having your own website helps with getting ad revenue and such? But in order to get traffic, you really have to be on XDA.
A lot of devs are leaving due to issues with users, other devs, and the mods. The mods don't always make the best decisions and don't care to explain their actions. The users always ask for things that annoy the devs. The devs argue about who kang'd what, stole code here, etc. It's pretty childish conduct for a forum made by adults.

It's more or less model/dev/team specific.
XDA is more or less an American site and so phones used widely in US have active development in XDA.
I have an LG GT540 Optimus. Most of the ROMs/Guides/Apps for this phone on XDA come from and are linked to Russian forums. This is due to the reason that active developers for this phone come from Russia and don't care about English much.
Plus, most downloads are linked to file distributions networks since XDA has an upper 8MB file size limits.

http://www.engadget.com/2012/10/26/dmca-update-makes-new-phone-unlocking-illegal/
And so it passed that Congress didst layeth its blessing on the jailbreaking and rooting of all manner of devices; the hacking community saw the miracle and rejoiced. But that amendment to the DMCA two years ago was just a temporary exemption and the Electronic Frontier Foundation has been vigorously lobbying to get it reinstated. The Library of Congress has now done just that through a new three year extension, but with some serious caveats: After 90 days, unlocking of new phones will be verboten and all tablet mods will still be illegal. This differs from the 2010 decision which did allow unlocking, because the Librarian decided that a recent copyright ruling means fair use rules no longer apply to a handset's OS. It also said the exception isn't needed anymore because carrier rules regarding unlocking are now more liberal -- although the lawmaker may be confounding chicken with egg by that reasoning.

My guess, no more "how to unlock" threads if we want to avoid a DMCA complaint. Forums for tablets on this site will stick to talk about stock and stock only.

this makes no sense, regardless if they mean carrier unlocking or rooting. a phone, for the last majority of users is subsidized by the carrier, a tablet isn't. why would you have more freedoms with a phone which is partially paid for by the carrier than a tablet which is paid for solely by the consumer?
and where is the line drawn between the two types of device?

Im not against the rules or anything else Im sure they are helpful for the bigger picture.:cyclops: I am however stating its ironic that he did better with there stuff than they did. IMO when a dev does that its usually buggy or simply not as good , his roms were always up to date and he had stuff out much quicker than others.
At the end of the day everyone here is modding someone elses work to begin with so getting banned for using a modification to an open source or Samsung based software is just weird to me.
Isnt that why theres two dev forums to begin with ?
Just so that we are all clear on this subject. He is not Banned.
Like someone above said, he still has a ROM in one of the Note sections (can't remember if NI or NII atm). I am one of the Mods over those sections as well so I have seen his threads and activity.
Now I don't know what exactly went down and why the thread was locked and even if I did, I'm not sure I can speak freely. I was called away on a family emergency that weekend and when I got back it was locked and the other thread about this was in full swing. Seems like you're arguing semantics. Only thing I see wrong is not giving credit. (ill surrender the end point that it's xdas way of managing things and that's fine.)
However you and everyone else are working off Google and to a lesser extent Samsungs work to begin with he only borrowed what you tweaked in someone else's code to begin with ;don't know why devs feel they should have special treatment. Having followed android *devs* since the early G1 days I find the current state rather egotistical and counter productive at times.
Again I say... I understand about not giving credit but alluding to him being a thief is ironic considering what is actually being done.
You say I have no idea, that's fine perhaps I don't . But proclaiming thievery with exclamation points doesn't exactly educate or inform anyone of anything let alone show that I'm in the dark on the matter.

Credit is the least he can ask. Do you know or even have an idea how long it takes to make a rom? De compiling recompiling apks tweaking smali. **** I tried to theme a couple pngs and 15 toggles and it took me a couple days just reading to figure out what to do! They have to edit a lot of files. It's long tedious work and they do it all for free!!
Regardless if it was based off Google code. They edited and made it unique. It is now theirs. For example for school you have to write a paper about Lincoln. You research about Lincoln and final write your paper. What your saying is that the paper you wrote is not yours because you pretty much just reworded facts you read online. (provided you didn't copy paste) the paper is now your own paper that you can claim rights too.

The application for RD covers more than "Did you release anything?" It also asks how you will help the community in general. Only XDA can sell the work developers contribute here. It's a lot like a university saying they own the rights to your projects. I don't think either side is right, but you know what you're signing up for.

But surely there've been Portal Posts promoting paid apps made by members of this place, that XDA does not profit from? Besides, XDA can't possibly sell an Android ROM, right? I'd like to get the full story on this; I don't like the sound of it at all. What the heck happened that could possibly justify their abuse if it isn't your reason?

They do have an area for announcing paid software, but that's the only place it's permitted.
XDA doesn't sell ROMs directly, just advertising and stuff like that.
There could be 1000 reasons, but they're really between the dev and XDA. Only one side of the story is given by a blog post and most people aren't going to admit they were wrong and then ask for donations.

Well known Recognised Developer team that works on 4.4 for Xperia 2011 devices(including xplay), has built their own 4.4.2 firmware. They offer an early access version to people who donate $5 on their website. After 1 month, it all becomes free to the public. Apparently XDA didn't like that, and revoked their recognised developer status and deleted the thread. The development team is asking us to PM the forum administrators and show our disagreement on the matter.
Also, achtojan hasn't posted anything in the past 3 days on xda since this happened, can't blame him.

So basically they should have just made the mandatory donate version on their personal website, then when it goes free they could have posted it on xda and still accept donations. The rules aren't very well laid out concerning this. It certainly doesn't justify revoking their RD status.

They didn't technically break rule number 8. The development team isn't saying "donate now and in a month you will receive it". They're saying donate now and receive it immediately, or wait and get it for free. Or is that still not allowed? I've seen many paid services on XDA, I guess the teams main mistake was posting it on XDA instead of just their website.

The problem is, that all of they're firmware can only be obtained for a fee. That is against the rules. If they posted a link to a donate and free version then it would be fine, but everything they linked to is for money. Not OK.
That makes sense. If that's really the case, I'm on XDA's side.
