[Q] T-Mo/AT&T unlock - Verizon Droid Incredible 2

Is there a way to make a rooted and SIM-unlocked DInc2 usable on AT&T and T-Mo networks in the US? Any sort of flashable upgrade to any internal components, hacked radio or whatnot that would achieve that purpose?

Search the forum. There you will find the out that this can be done. As well as the fact you shouldn't post questions in the dev section.

Also, xtc clip or call vzw and ask for an unlock code.

I have searched and I couldn't find much on this topic either. Granted I did it using tapatalk which leaves a bit to be desired in the search department. My point is that it might be more helpful overall to just answer the question rather than refuse simply because someone missed a thread and can't manage to find it using search for some reason.

I understand that, but it wouldn't be entirely uncool to answer the question along with any chastising someone might feel is necessary. or at least help someone in the right direction, which doesn't include the entirely unhelpful "search" comment all too common to forums with regulars.

If it is, I can't find it.
I have re-posted the question in the General forum, but all I got there so far is more of the same arrogant ignorance that some of the replies demonstrated here.
I believe it is perfectly clear from my original post that the phone is _already_ SIM unlocked and rooted.
Let's move further discussion to the General forum to avoid moderators' wrath.

If I'm not mistaken its a global phone. However the GSM frequency used abroad is different than in the states. Therefore I don't think it's possible.

It works with ATT and TMo. If you are talking about 3G on them, then that's a no. Hardware limitation.

[Q] Clarification on "locked" of "Unlocked"

First off. I'm a noob. I am not a complete noob, but i do have lots of questions.
I was searching for how to unlock a "Photon 4G" from Sprint or an "HTC Evo 4G" from Sprint and ran across this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1536161&highlight=carrier
Now, in the title of that threat it sais "Unlocked".
I've read and it looks like a normal ROM, so i'm thinking maybe i just don't know the dev "Jargon" and it means something completely different than allowing the phone to use a different carrier. Any help on clarifying this for me would be awesome.
Oh, and what exactly is "Boot Loader Unlock" ??

What? If it was "unlocked" we'd be able to roam on att
But op a bootloader unlock is so you can start flashing roms. I think what you're looking for is "sim unlock". Its usually just a code you gotta put in and then you can use your phone on any carrier, as long as its a world phone

How is it inappropriate? Nowhere in Frost's reply does it get perverse, or "out of hand" I don't understand what the two of you meant by "Respect" that's wrong usage. Perhaps have some "sympathy" fits the bill but respect? Dude, this OP is in the real world, not Elementary School. I'm glad the two of you helped him out, as in the end, getting answers is what he was looking for, but feed one man a fish, he'll be fed for a day, teach a man how to fish, and he'll live for the rest of his life. Don't forget (Americans often do) that there's also Rogers, Bell, and Telus, not to mention a few more in Canada.
Rogers, Bell and Telus use the AT&T I747. I'm not sure about Virgin, Mobilicity, etc.
Peter
Addendum: I really should say that Rogers, Bell and Telus use the I747, which AT&T also uses. I really don't like saying it's an AT&T I747, because it's not.
Personally, I will try and use [I747] on all my posts.

XDA is about hacking devices, not discussing carriers. Don't forget that.
Go to a carrier-related forum if you want that.
I, for one, see this as a good change. Speaking as an engineer/developer.
Already we have 2 Off-Topic threads discussing this change. Don't complain about off-topic threads when you post in them.

Not really a good change, a step in the right direction, yes. But I for one only want to see Sprint related general/off topic posts when I come into the SGS3 general forum. That's why I ask for the tags. I mean that is a system in its self that needs to be used here ( I would love to see that happen). I'm just saying that makes it so much easier when scanning, and when you don't want to have to subscribe to all the Sprint related topics just to keep up with what your trying to focus on is ridiculous if you ask me.

Okay, so other than:

3. *****ing about bundled apps.
4. *****ing about insurance/TEP.
What else possibly belongs in the General section that's Sprint-specific?

Tho we wouldn't have to if we had separate forums. I know in the past there were several that would cross platforms from international version to US versions and that was great, but I think it's a bit confusing to do it like this and if you're going to label every thread with a carrier anyway, why not just have it's own forum??
It is what it is I guess.
Hey the other day I seen this phone at a Sprint store, some girl offered me a favor for a look at my SGS3 PB 32gb Sprint version, I said I didn't have it yet, but soon I will be able to flash it for that favor you offered

Did the link get edited? Because I just followed it and it's clearly a full breakdown of the phone the OP is referring to, including its model number. Not sure what you're seeing.
What I read was related to batteries. Either way, what's the point of it? It may or may not be what the device is, but is unrelated anyways. OP was asking about where to find a case. Its not our job to figure out what phone it is. OP has been given many ways to figure that out.

No, the OP asked us how to find out what MODEL the phone is so they can find a case. Re-read their post. It's not our "job" to do anything. We're here to be helpful. Someone above posted a link confirming what model it was, and was therefore helpful. Mis-reading both the OP's post and the link and complaining that we don't need to help isn't.

Ok, let's put it this way, if the OP can't use 2 perfectly viable options to check the model number of the phone, he is SOL on my book. There is a sticker behind the battery as I stated before. And IF that is gone he can easily go into the phone settings to get it. If that isn't available then there is no point in even posting to find out the model because the phone would obviously be broken. I understand that we are a community for sharing and helping. But we only help when a user has exhausted all means of doing it themselves and failed. He obviously hasn't checked out at least one of those options. Also, OP has failed to follow XDA rules here. This is not the correct forum for that device. If there is no such forum for that device, the question belongs in the General Q/A section of the forums and not in the E4GT section. I did read the OP but really just forgot what it entirely was about, but again, we are not here to spoon feed people.

So I'm on bs sprint and still have a little over a year for my contract to be up so if all's well I will be flashing me and my gfs phones to another carrier and buying out of our cantract since we're basically paying 200 dollars for the same service. I'm wondering if anybody is willing to help me out with the flashing process (this will be my 1st time) by directing me to the best carrier to flash to how toos and so fourth. I'm currently rooted and my gf isn't but I can have that done in minutes when it's time. I'm hoping to go to virgin boost or cricket if anyone knows anything about flashing to any of these carriers. Actually edfunkycold has been extremely helpful. No I'm not trying to be confrontational. My apologizes in advance if that's the way it sounds. The threads that edfunkycold pointed you to have the information necessary to complete what you want to do. There is going to be quite a bit of reading, and research involved. Especially as this is your first time. The best advice I can give you is read, read, and read some more. If you have any questions search the thread that pertains to what you are trying to accomplish. If you still cannot find the answer post up in that thread. Someone is usually around to help, in almost every thread. BTW, yes I do know how hard it is to search for answers to questions sometimes . Even though I've been around for a while, I still use the search function quite a bit. Sometimes more than I'd like to admit.

I honestly agree with u 100% edfunkycold cnexus and whiplash are always 1st on the scene when I need help. I just always see people saying to search. I always search b4 I post a thread and I only post a thread to get as much help as possible. There is no real filters on here and u could be stuck on the same thread for days b4 finding what u need. I also feel like posting new threads helps other noobs find things easier than finding something that was posted a year ago. I honestly meant no disrespect to anybody on these forums especially the people that's always helping and if any was taken i apologize

No offense taken at all. But read what you wrote. You feel that by starting a new thread it helps new noobs find it. You don't think that adds to the already hundreds of threads which exist, many of them repeated questions on the same topic? Now that is going g to make it even more difficult for a new person to find the thread with the correct information.
Keep in mind the longer threads with more activity are usually the ones with all the right answers. Some reading and searching will be necessary. Within the thread itself you can search that specific thread to get the information you need and the results come back in order from newest post to oldest post.
I search every day, I search mostly for people that are looking for answers. Keep in mind I do it all from my phone mobile so I only use the app.
Food for thought.

Yes I understand that but thanks to people like u and the others I mentioned links are posted to those threads right on the pages we often look for. Even tho there are repeat questions not everyone has the same desire there fore when the links a provided we get helped as much as we can by this. Maybe this explains it or maybe it doesn't but it shows we have a high regard for this Site instead of going to another forum or Google searching our issues (which most leads back to here). This is a good Site and everyone is loved here especially by us noobs. I'm not sure if u seen it but a while ago I wrote a thank you post cause what u guys do here is awesome and if it wasn't for u guys my phone would be plain old vanilla my mind bored and a bunch of noobs lost hopelessly. Maybe if we can get some filters on here maybe for dates or key words or different updates there wouldn't be soo many repeat threads. U said yourself u search using your phone (as do I 99% of the time) how long does it take u to usually find a thread you've never seen on a topic u barely have any info about?

If your on the XDA app you can click on more in the upper right hand corner then the search button to search in general View attachment 2180302
If you want to search a specific thread on the xda app you need to be in the thread then click settings then click Web view to take you to a browser then use the search function View attachment 2180309
I would recommend the Tapatalk app which is much much better and you can search in general or within a specific thread right from the app. You can search by key words and also by specific username as well. View attachment 2180312View attachment 2180313

Can online help? Please and thanks

If you go Boost or Virgin you will need a donor phone,If you go Cricket you will not as they allow flashed phones on their system.Crickets service is OK but with a flashed phone you will always be 3G no 4G. The S3 is a fairly easy phone to flash you can do it with QPST. Or since you are in louisville the corporate stores can flash it for you pretty cheap.

Yes it's about 50 to 100 dollars tho I think. But I'd rather learn it myself and hustle their customers instead of them hustling me lol. I'd be fine with 3g that's all I get with sprint anyway. Can u explain the qpst thing? I've seen it b4 but don't quite understand it

Use this guide only instead of using DFS use QPST http://www.cricketusers.com/cdma-sa...galaxy-s3-cricket-talk-text-mms-internet.html you could use DFS as well I just prefer QPST and a note if you use QPST write two profiles enable both of them and just make one active seems to work better that way.

Install GPE over LG software

Is it possible if I bought the stock LG V500, to root and install GPE V510?

Come on guys..if you dont want to add anything just dont comment and ignore it..
am a developer as well and still sometimes after extensive searches things are no clear..
no need of being a smart ****
From what I read till now on this forum, there are big diferences on how v500 is partitioned and how is v510 partitioned. So the answer is no you not could install GPE rom on v500. Until now...only option fot kitkat is custom roms

Nice spamming 2 posts to tell the OP not to spam. Wouldn't answering the question be easier and less spamming?

Look up the definition of spam.
The op is the one not using proper etiquette and breaking forum rules.

Being polite and considerate doesn't cost you anything. Having new people turned away by comments such as yours does not promote the good will of xda, and gives a sense that it is forbidden to ask any questions at all.
Simply stating an answer to the question with a sidenote that there is another place to ask such questions would be prefered.
And, It IS ambiguous as to whether or not it is possible to convert the system.
While there are numerous threads here talking about it and stating such, you would not want to simply download some rom based on the wishes of others to make it happen before it's time. For somebody new, the threads that have such discussion may very well look like they have it converted and ready to go, where others state the opposite.

Isn't this section called "q and a HELP and troubleshooting"? I am posting my legitimate question in the proper section because of how vague the other posts have been. Those who aren't willing to help, why post? Is it really ruining your day to glance over a question? Instead you waste your precious time trying to beat your chest on the internet. Thanks have been given to those who were helpful. I appreciate you clearing up the issue.

I have a LG V500 as well(coming from Nexus 10) and after looking at all(well most) of the threads, it is not clear which for me
means the answer is NO(or we would have had a definitive guide to do that ).
For now, I am looking for the most stable custom rom with least issues. CM or Mahdi atm
Mahdi works great and has a lot of options.
If you have AOSP you have CyanogenMod, CarbonROM, AOKP, ParanoidAndroid, SlimROM.. all of which have every feature of AOSP + the same looks as AOSP + extras.
GPE is cool if you're not a rooting custom ROM kind of person in which case you should have just purchased a GPE G-Pad to have stock AOSP

It's not even worth it anymore, dude. Members of XDA have huge ego and pride issues and it doesn't seem like it's going away any time soon.
I agree, there is no reason for the hostility. Politely answer the question and let him/her know to search next time. One more thread asking the same question isn't going to break the internet but people don't understand that.. they'd rather be know-it-all assholes.
Honestly, you are better off getting v500 And installing custom kit Kat. This way you can switch back to lg if you prefer it.

Best advise, gives you more options. As it is the v500 gets more support. I wish the device was more popular but I'm still grateful for what we have.
