Hi guys,
I just bought a buzz wildfire and it has a broken screen so i can`t see anything on it. After struggleing to install android screen cast to see my beautiful wildfire in action, i saw that it is sim locked.:crying: I have searched a lot on posts too see if i can unlock it without code and i didn`t quite got it. I think sim lock has something to do with s-off and s-on....?!
My question is: If i root it and install another ROM on it, not the stock ROM, does it disable my sim lock?:fingers-crossed:
I want to learn about it as much as i can till i can get a new display so i don`t brick the phone.
Thx in advance and sorry if i have repeted this question.
HAPPY BUZZING!!!!

Hi welcome to the buzz forums
Firstly, the SIM lock/screen lock is registered to the Rom. And a factory reset from bootloader, or recovery will remove it. At the cost of information stored on the phone. So flashing a new Rom will be enough.
Secondly in order to s-off you will need to find out what hboot version you have. This may be tough since you cannot see. Boot the phone into hboot mode with volume down and power after a battery pull. Then plug it into your computer via usb. Hit the power button and your windows pc should find the phone and Install new drivers. Once you have set up an adb/fastboot folder (Google it) issue the command fastboot getvar all.
Hopefully this will tell you your hboot version. If it's 1.01.0001 then use revolutionary to s-off and then flash all the roms you like

Now, did you mean a SIM card lock, or a network lock stopping you using the phone on other networks?

ah. That is a network lock. good news is that you can s-off with revolutionary but it wont remove the network lock. you will still need a unlock code or the use of an xtc clip. some guys here have good luck on ebay with codes and stuff. but if you can get access to an xtc clip you will gain s-off and network unlock. but they are harder to come by :/

What did you actually do @ htcdev? Your bootloader is not updated to the unlockable one, so nothings actually been done yet..
Edit: yours is a vodafone phone, so there should be an updated hboot for it, so should not need a goldcard.

You need to update the hboot first, it is on HTCdev, you need to update before the token command will work...

Hi,
Thanks for your reply.
I have tried a few unbranded RRU Roms and get the 313 Error. so I am still looking for now. Perhaps I should contact HTC as they have linked me to a ROM before maybe as a last resort.
Edit:
I found and tried a T-Mobile UK Rom that I found, unfortunately this dud not work due to the difference in the updated bootloader.
Perhaps I can unlock the bootloader and flash customer recovery then Rom.
I feel a bit of a new boy in the android forums as my background is Windows Mobile.
So thanks in advance for any solutions and suggestions.

If you have another HTC device, you can create a goldcard and then flash an unbranded RUU. But you need a working phone for the goldcard creation.

Nope, you can not create a goldcard with the HTC ONE. You need external sdcard to do that. Have you factory reseted the phone?

Yes, I have tried clearing factory resetting and other methods like pushing img files and various RUUs - I see others are having similar issues with phone stuck at boot image.
I am not that familiar with the android market of handsets as I have been supporting windows mobile to long.
I think I am running out of options.
I can get my hands on another HTC from a friend if you point me in the right direction I would be appreciative of any assistance

I considered doing that as a last resort... So I did l via htcdev, I flashed a recovery and a Super Su. Booted into clockwork and flashed a rom. Rebooted via clockwork recovery but no phone vibrates 7 times...so I think its bricked.
Perhaps it had an intermittent hardware issue.
THanks for your help though.

That sounds like a bad emmc chip...so you will need a motherboard replacement.
I would guess perhaps the phone already had a hardware fault like overheating. Looks like I need to purchase a New phone for her.
Interesting to read on this forum so many having a similar initial problem.

This is your problem .. your device is Htc One M7 not M8.
Anything for M8 will not work on M7.
It's best to ask in M7 forum .. maybe they have RUU to fix your device.
Check - https://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one
Add : you cab try to unlock bootloader again, if successful then install twrp for M7, it should boot. If unable to unlock bootloader you need RUU to fix it.
