I have looked around for a ROM for my wife's phone that does not boot;
No PM98IMG found etc...the handset sits at the operator screen
I have tried endlessly to locate the right one for this phone which is not rooted or modified in any way.
So I ask here for help.
TIA

Hi,
Thanks for your reply.
I have tried a few unbranded RRU Roms and get the 313 Error. so I am still looking for now. Perhaps I should contact HTC as they have linked me to a ROM before maybe as a last resort.
Edit:
I found and tried a T-Mobile UK Rom that I found, unfortunately this dud not work due to the difference in the updated bootloader.
Perhaps I can unlock the bootloader and flash customer recovery then Rom.
I feel a bit of a new boy in the android forums as my background is Windows Mobile.
So thanks in advance for any solutions and suggestions.

If you have another HTC device, you can create a goldcard and then flash an unbranded RUU. But you need a working phone for the goldcard creation.

Hi,
the only other HTC device I have is the HTC One which has a fixed SD card, perhaps I cannot do a gold card with this phone but am unsure.
I will look into it.

Nope, you can not create a goldcard with the HTC ONE. You need external sdcard to do that. Have you factory reseted the phone?

Yes, I have tried clearing factory resetting and other methods like pushing img files and various RUUs - I see others are having similar issues with phone stuck at boot image.
I am not that familiar with the android market of handsets as I have been supporting windows mobile to long.
I think I am running out of options.
I can get my hands on another HTC from a friend if you point me in the right direction I would be appreciative of any assistance

I considered doing that as a last resort... So I did l via htcdev, I flashed a recovery and a Super Su. Booted into clockwork and flashed a rom. Rebooted via clockwork recovery but no phone vibrates 7 times...so I think its bricked.
Perhaps it had an intermittent hardware issue.
THanks for your help though.

That sounds like a bad emmc chip...so you will need a motherboard replacement.
I would guess perhaps the phone already had a hardware fault like overheating. Looks like I need to purchase a New phone for her.
Interesting to read on this forum so many having a similar initial problem.
Your input is valued, thanks very much.

Earlier today I was trying to s-off and managed to get my phone into a boot loop instead. From what I can tell the data partition on the phone got corrupted as I could still get into recovery but could not mount data and internal storage reported a size of 0MB. I found a guide through Google titled "How to: Fix a corrupted DATA partition on the HTC One" that fixed the problem while causing others.
My phone was factory reset, not the problem, but now when I attempt to flash an updated or different rom it gives an error. For example when trying to install a newer version of Cyanogenmod it says "This package is for "m7wlv,m7vzw" devices; this is a "m7".". When I tried to flash any of the stock roms from santod's thread it also errors. I'm guessing this means that when I fixed the partition problem the fix had the wrong device id somewhere. Does anybody know how to fix this?
My phone is currently boot loader unlocked from the HTC Dev site, rooted, and running a somewhat recent Cyanogenmod nightly. I was trying to get s-off to more easily go back to stock because I was having GPS problems. If there's any additional info or screenshots that would be helpful let me know.
Thanks,
Komodo
There was only a 24hr window for this device to be unlocked via HTCdev, and that was on release day. How did you get HTCdev to unlock? Plug your phone into a PC and open cmd and type "fastboot getvar all" while in bootloader. Copy and paste the results here minus imei, and serial

I bought my phone on release day and unlocked within that 24 hour period. Here's the results of the getvar. And I just realized that I never actually upgraded the baseband/firmware before trying to installer a newer version of stock. I'm going to try that now.
Edit: Really shouldn't try looking at numbers when I first wake up.

Well, only reason it would give you an issue is if you flashed the m7ul recovery and not the m7wlv recovery. Your internal phone info is all correct. Try fastboot flashing the most recent TWRP (2.8.0.0) from it's thread.

Turns out when I downloaded TWRP 2.8.0.0 from their site I got the plain m7 version instead of the m7wlv version from the thread. Sometimes the simplest problems are the easiest to overlook. But after flashing the correct recovery and making backups, it seems to be installing roms correctly. Thanks for the help.

Why, and I mean this in a nice way, is your solution to everyone to unlock or root their phone? If the person just wants it working again then read what they're asking and advise accordingly.
To the OP, can you post the output of 'fastboot getvar all' and we can see what FW build you're on and what we can do to help, shouldn't be too hard

OK, that confirms you're on the old HBOOT (3.16.0000) and is pretty much the issue as to why it's not working as Lollipop ideally needs HBOOT 3.19.0000 to go with the new FW. Was your device a branded phone when you bought it brand new or was it a SIM-free version (e.g. was it on x.xx.401.x first)?

Its not the OS software that is being referred to here. The "firmware" (admittedly, a crappy name as "firmware" can mean a great many things really) is the hboot, radio, media, WiFi and other modules. If your firmware doesn't match the ROM, WiFi being broken is the common result.

Just get back to the stock ROM that matches your current firmware (your hboot indicates that would be Android 4.4.2) and WiFi will work again.
Restore stock ROM and stock recovery for your CID, and it should enable OTA, which yes, that will update your firmware. You'll have to work through a few OTAs, as you are now a couple versions behind.
Was it T-Mobile US or EU? If the former, the RUU is online

Its not just hboot, but all the modules in the firmware "package" that are the issue. Meaning, just updating hboot alone won't fix your WiFi issue.
Hboot is just one of the ways you can (usually) tell what firmware you are on. You can look at the radio number as well.

That's what I wanted to check. The T-Mobile US RUUs are online, EU ones are not so you'll need to restore a backup based on 1.5x - there should be one in the backups thread. What country are you in?

I'm on a mac, but I'm SURE I've managed to return to stock before without an issue - I can't find the darned threads though! (And trust me I've looked).
When I try and flash an RUU in RUU mode using fastboot flash zip I get "FAILED (remote: 32 header error)". I don't even know if I have to flash an RUU at all, I was sort of hoping there would be IMGs lying around.
I've currently got to flashing the stock firmware and recovery img, and just need the 'stock rom' I guess.
Please help :s
Stock nandroid collection is sticky at the top of the M8 General forum section; although last I've seen the 4.16.401 link was dead:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2701376
Where did you get the RUU from?
You're S-OFF .. SuperCID so really you could flash just the System ROM from any branded or unbranded manually as long as you kept to same versions... 1.10.xxx.10 (keep it simple).
Unless you're after keeping OTA or moving the handset on, you can adb/fastboot in an .img file

Thanks for the reply! I got the RUU from the same thread, with this link: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=24562
I tried to use the 3rd one down?

That should be the right one. I don't know why you are getting header error.
Did you rename the .zip file to 0P6BIMG.zip ?

Renaming a RUU zip to 0P6BIMG.zip is the only way it will be recognized and installed.
Look for a windows based pc and try with the .EXE version of the RUU. I finally solved with it..

Hi. I read up on various threads and could not find the correct tutorial or method for this?
My HTC One m8 is rooted, unlocked, S-On, and running Lollipop with a GPE ROM.
I would like to upgrade to Marshmallow.
What is the easiest method to do so? No thread I've stumbled upon appears to be what I am looking for, but then again I'm awful at this stuff and also just kind of cautious because I've run into many issues in this kind of work and I just want to make sure I am on the right path.
Thanks, everyone.

Do fastboot getvar all, and post the results here, minus your ser# and IMEI/MEID

I tried to make sense of how to go about that but I am honestly not sure at all.
What does that mean? How do I do that action? Thanks.

So download Sneaky's batch tool here
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95916177934536408
Then install it and then run htc_fastboot getvar all
Then report back

Did you root the phone yourself? If so, you should have ADB on your PC.
Plug your phone into your PC, get into ADB
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot getvar all

Download Windows, 7,8,10. Install bootcamp, install windows, reboot, setup windows, install sneaky's tool. Then pay Ed in beer.

How did you unlock your bootloader before ? You should already have fastboot.
Open terminal, type ./fastboot getvar all
If you need fastboot/adb for mac, try this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2390995

You need to have the latest firmware from OMJ here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2729173
Looking at your info looks like you have the latest Sprint firmware already so you can go ahead and flash the following

As mentioned, my phone is S-ON, and the link warns that in order to flash the latest firmware, I need to be S-OFF.
Is there another way?
If you're going to tell me I need S-OFF, I should mention I have tried, countless times and hours, to achieve S-OFF, with my friends too, and we just could not manage to get my phone to S-OFF.
So an S-ON method would be awesome.

You have the latest firmware available which according to Captain Throwback you should be able to flash his MM ROM and it should boot just fine.

Excellent. Thank you!
So, to refresh my memory:
1. Download the ROM on my Mac
2. Put my phone into bootloader and connect USB
3. Wipe everything?
4. Flash the ROM
5. Success?

Yep, but do not flash the SU in recovery if it asks if you want to. It will cause you to lose root, if the ROM you are using already has a patched kernel for root.
Hi guys,
will this method work also with build number 4.16.401.10?? My Phone is also rooted, unlocked, s-on and at time running Revolution HD 43.0.
Is it in enough to Boot in recovery (TWRP) and do a Clean install? Or will i have problems with my root Access? Thank u very much!
htc one m8 (rooted)
