Modding the Sense 5 Weather Clock Background? - HTC One X

Hello everyone,
I'm trying to modify the background of the sense 5 weather clock (the one that flips with the weather juuuust below it) not to make it transparent like everybody else is doing. I'm trying to theme it to go with a modified app drawer image and navigation bar image. The problem is I don't know which files to edit in order to do that. Could anyone here give me some advice or pointers?
Yes I have searched for a guide or tut to do it but all I find is people supplying one they made or pointing at a thread that has them already made. I would like to do this myself though.
Thanks in advance for any help

Have you heard of sense 5 toolbox? You can set transparency of many items...

Where is that image?

Where is that image? I took a look inside of the prism apk but found nothing by that name.
But for everyone else reading, I'm not looking for transparency, I'm trying to overlay another image over, thus changing how the panel looks.

Are you talking about the panel where the weather condition is ?
That is common_panel.9.png in com.htc.resources.apk/res/drawable-xhdpi
Changing this will affect the widgets background too

Thats the one!!!

YES THAT'S THE ONE!
Just in case I added a screenshot, I circled the panel jsu so that everyone knows what I'm talking about. I found that common_panel.9.png but it's basically just a circle?
What I want to do is make that panel look like the navbar you see in the image I attached, if it's just a circle then it might not work or be possible.

Nobody have any ideas?
Does nobody here have any ideas on how to achieve this?

In both Sense 5 and Sense 5.5, the png is indeed found in the resources apk. It is the common_panel.9.png and it can be themed but only basically. The best you can do with it is make it with a border either transparent or semi. However, depending on how skilled you are with editing xml, you could put a custom PNG in the drawable folder and edit the layouts to navigate to that specific image. That way your newly themed image will be used and not the common_panel.9.png. If you look at my theming thread from Sense 5.5, you'll see what I mean.

Which files needed for app-bar

Hi.
I'm going to mod my stock ROM to be as i want, but i need to know which image files i need to edit for making a custom Application-Bar, you know the one to pull up and down on homescreen.
Anyone knows?
status_bar_close_on.9.png is the bar that is dragged down and the permanent one at the top is statusbar_background.png
Already got that one modded with the hero status bar.
Its the one at the bottom with the apps i want to change. Got any idea what these files are called?

I've only done this with cyanogen so not sure whether this is same for all but here goes:
Launcher.apk\res\drawable-port\ic_tray_collape.png
Launcher.apk\res\drawable-port\ic_tray_expand.png
Launcher.apk\res\drawable-port\tray_handle_pressed.png
Launcher.apk\res\drawable-port\tray_handle_selected.png
and the background for the Launcher menu:
Launcher.apk\res\drawable\pattern_carbon_fiber_dark.png
if we change the bar to darker colour, surely it will be impossible to read the clock. Could someone confirm?
Thanks

With a little more modding you can change the text color.
Changing the clock colour is a pain as it is in services.jar rather than the framework-res.apk, if anyone has steps to edit the services.jar do let me know
check out the dream section- there is a thread there about how to do it. Not easy.

[Q] setting background color, how to change?

I want to change the background color of the settings menu from my SGS. It's black now (in every theme, stock or custom).
Anyone know which png file I have to change? Or is this a color described in a color XML file?
I hope someone can help
Kind regards,Vintiem
Really nobody know's? (maybe the reason that also every custom made theme has that standard black background).
Someone knows where I possibly can find my answer?
Kind regards,
Vintiem

Take a look inside settings.apk - I believe there's a bg file in there (haven't tried changing it)...
Edit: Now I can't find it. Hmmm, sure I saw it somewhere...
When there's no png for background it can be .xml related.
You need to decompile Settings.apk to edit .xml-files...
what's the best xml editor?
No one knows which xml doc I have to take to change the background colors?

use adw launcher ex
I have ADW launcher ex. But you can change just a few things instead of what I excepted. it's not crap but absolute not what it says: change almost everything!!
So I think I have to live with that ugly black background because no one can tell me how to change it.

[Q] Transparent app drawer background?

The black background of HTC's Sense looks really lo-tech to me, like they're not even trying to make it look decent. In my opinion, they could have at least given it a gradient layer.
Anywho, is there a way to get a transparent app drawer background without changing launchers? I've really grown to like Sense GUI and all it's useful little widgets
If this isn't possible, can the app drawer background at least be changed to a custom image of some sort? Or as a more general question, can the drawer be altered in any other way, shape, or form, besides the column/row number?

you can change your theme, by using uot kitchen, just change the part you like , in your case transparency under options...
here is a link : http://uot.dakra.lt/
I don't know. I've used UOT Kitchen before, but I've never come across any such option. Would you, or anyone else, mind telling me which tab to look under?
Tried it in my rom, but it didnt work.
You need to decompile rosie.apk and change colors in xml files.
Custom images not possible.
Google it on xda forum.

Oh, well. I guess I can live with a black app drawer then I'd have tried doing that, but since a more experienced person couldn't do it, I don't see why I should bother with it.

You misunderstood, I meant the app drawer, not the pull-down status bar, but thanks for the reply =]

thanks!
You could go launcher ex it has that option to change the app drawer background
If you use Go Launcher, you lose the Sense widgets which is considered by many to be one of Sense's biggest features... And the OP mentioned that he liked the widgets.
And this thread was ages old!
App Drawer and Dock
Has anybody got a zip that will make the app drawer and dock transparent. I'm running sense and no ROM.

[Q]Transparent App Drawer In Stock Launcher

Hi.
I've been playing around with my phone for a while now. I used UOT Kitchen to get transparent notification bar.
But what I'm really interested in is a transparent app drawer. I have gone through all the .png's in systemUI, framework-res, twframework-res, touchwiz30launcher and i did not see a single .png that the system would use as a app drawer background.
And as far as i understood the transparency is enabled in those .xml files.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1255155 - this is what I'm talking about.
I'd be glad if anyone would tell me what lines/files i have to add and where.
And if anyone bothers to help me, I will most definitely make a guide how to do this
And also, is there a way to change the background color in menus with font color ( cuz i've seen ROM's with white background and grey font)
Peace
PS! I didn't know whether I should post this in General or here, but as it is theme related I believe it belongs here.

[REQ] Transparent SmartNotice Weather Widget

Hi all. When I had my LG G2, someone modded the homescreen weather widget to be transparent. I searched the threads and haven't seen anything mentioned for the G3, but I've seen a ton of other mods. So I was wondering if anyone here is working on this mod? Or I wanted to put in a request for someone who has the knowledge of how to make it transparent, to make one, if possible. I'm trying to stick with the LG launcher and I think a transparent SmartNotice weather widget would give it a much cleaner look. Thanks in advance. Btw, I have the Verizon variant. I don't know if it would only be needed for this phone or if an universal one could be made for all variants. If there are any files needed from the Verizon variant, then let me know. I'll pull and upload them if pointed in the right direction.
Edit: All credit goes to @KiakSvk for getting this solved for me. All of the work was done and created by him. I just modified some of his .pngs for my own liking on my own personal device, but he found the files and did all of the leg work, so make sure to hit his "Thanks" button if you plan on using his stuff. You can see a pic of his setup here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=54907737&postcount=16. If you want to get the files he uploaded and change your SmartNotice to look like his, then you can find his post with the download files and instructions here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=54929497&postcount=25. The pic below is my final setup after modifying some of the files he uploaded.
I know it's not quite the same but if you use zooper there is a lg widget for that. Can't remember if there is a transparent one in the pack but if not would be easy enough to make transparent.
Is this the one?

What are you looking for? I'm looking for a transparent weather widget with Smart Notice transparent and functional also. (That hasn't been done yet.) But if you're looking for a transparent weather widget similar to the one on the G2, then like the poster mentioned above, you can download Zooper from the market (you will have to buy the pro version), then you can download a G3 weather widget theme to go with it. They have a few transparent widgets like the one posted above.
It's gotta be possible to make the LG weather widget transparent, even the smart notice one. Anyone good with decompiling and editing apks? I can do it but I really don't like to.

Thanks for the recommendation, but I've purchased some great weather widgets over the years. I just want the stock weather widget transparent so that I can continue to use the smart card feature. I messaged the guy who made the transparent G2 widget, but he hasn't responded back yet.
No worries, let us know if you get a result

No. Unfortunately, the guy that I messaged who made the LG G2 weather widget transparent, never messaged me back. I actually was going to put a $10 bounty on this. Not much, but hopefully something will entice somebody to work on this.
Edit: I just edited my topic and post to let everyone know that I'm looking for the SmartNotice weather widget to be transparent and not the regular weather widget. If anyone wanted the regular weather widget transparent, then Zooper widget from the market has one that looks identical toLG's widget.

Themed and working smart notice widget.
It is also possible to make it transparent, but you will need some skills.
If you decompile the app, there are edits you can make to the files in the folders such as layers, xml, etc. Its just a matter of finding the right file.

There are a couple of LG Home themes that make the stock weather and smart notice transparent. Search for the Tahiti (blue, white, and pink) themes. I don't remember where I downloaded them but they do theme the weather and smart notices.
Dunno if it works for you guys but maybe it's worth a shot?
