[REQ] Transparent SmartNotice Weather Widget - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all. When I had my LG G2, someone modded the homescreen weather widget to be transparent. I searched the threads and haven't seen anything mentioned for the G3, but I've seen a ton of other mods. So I was wondering if anyone here is working on this mod? Or I wanted to put in a request for someone who has the knowledge of how to make it transparent, to make one, if possible. I'm trying to stick with the LG launcher and I think a transparent SmartNotice weather widget would give it a much cleaner look. Thanks in advance. Btw, I have the Verizon variant. I don't know if it would only be needed for this phone or if an universal one could be made for all variants. If there are any files needed from the Verizon variant, then let me know. I'll pull and upload them if pointed in the right direction.
Edit: All credit goes to @KiakSvk for getting this solved for me. All of the work was done and created by him. I just modified some of his .pngs for my own liking on my own personal device, but he found the files and did all of the leg work, so make sure to hit his "Thanks" button if you plan on using his stuff. You can see a pic of his setup here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=54907737&postcount=16. If you want to get the files he uploaded and change your SmartNotice to look like his, then you can find his post with the download files and instructions here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=54929497&postcount=25. The pic below is my final setup after modifying some of the files he uploaded.

I know it's not quite the same but if you use zooper there is a lg widget for that. Can't remember if there is a transparent one in the pack but if not would be easy enough to make transparent.

Is this the one?

Saw Zooper in the Play Store but its not transparent. But your pic in the 2nd post is exactly what I'm looking for. That one is for the G2 correct?

Where can I get this?

What are you looking for? I'm looking for a transparent weather widget with Smart Notice transparent and functional also. (That hasn't been done yet.) But if you're looking for a transparent weather widget similar to the one on the G2, then like the poster mentioned above, you can download Zooper from the market (you will have to buy the pro version), then you can download a G3 weather widget theme to go with it. They have a few transparent widgets like the one posted above.

It's gotta be possible to make the LG weather widget transparent, even the smart notice one. Anyone good with decompiling and editing apks? I can do it but I really don't like to.

The picture is the zooper one and I made it transparent, there is a semi transparent one in the pack and I just played with it.

Thanks for the recommendation, but I've purchased some great weather widgets over the years. I just want the stock weather widget transparent so that I can continue to use the smart card feature. I messaged the guy who made the transparent G2 widget, but he hasn't responded back yet.

No worries, let us know if you get a result

any progress? i mean if anyone made it? that would be great
sent from me. :]

Would be great to have the stock weather widget transparent. I'm aslo have been looking for this.

No. Unfortunately, the guy that I messaged who made the LG G2 weather widget transparent, never messaged me back. I actually was going to put a $10 bounty on this. Not much, but hopefully something will entice somebody to work on this.
Edit: I just edited my topic and post to let everyone know that I'm looking for the SmartNotice weather widget to be transparent and not the regular weather widget. If anyone wanted the regular weather widget transparent, then Zooper widget from the market has one that looks identical toLG's widget.

done
Themed and working smart notice widget.
It is also possible to make it transparent, but you will need some skills.

If you decompile the app, there are edits you can make to the files in the folders such as layers, xml, etc. Its just a matter of finding the right file.

There are a couple of LG Home themes that make the stock weather and smart notice transparent. Search for the Tahiti (blue, white, and pink) themes. I don't remember where I downloaded them but they do theme the weather and smart notices.

Dunno if it works for you guys but maybe it's worth a shot?

[Q] Help modding Smooth Calender Widget

I was wondering if anyone could take the slick smoked glass background from the apk I posted and modify the newest version of smooth calender widget with it. The new version has a much nicer calender icon (Attached Below). The old version on the apk has an icon that looks kind of tacky. I've looked but I cannot seem to figure out how to modify this particular app.
Thanks in advance for anyone that can give a hand.
Wow, with all the amazing themers on this site nobody can give me any pointers or help me mod one simple app?
Maybe wait a bit more than 4 hours before you get discouraged.

4hrs? I think you missread the post times, This was posted a day ago. There have been over 50 views already. I'm not trying to be rude, nor am I expecting somebody to have to do it for me. I merely asked if someone with more expertise than me could either mod it or at least help me to do it. With over 50 views you would think someone would have said it can't be done or at least pointed me in the right direction.
I'm not sure if the newest version has added functionality etc. that you would also want, but if alll you want to do is change the icon you should be able to use APK Edit (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=890876) to update the older version with the newer icon. Hope this helps

smooth calender is a widget, I know how to change icons, this widget does not have a drawable-hdpi folder like most of the others. I'm looking to change the background of the most recent smooth calender widget from the matted black to the smooth smoked glass that is in the apk I provided in the OP, I just don't know how to do it on this particular app.
If that is not possible, I would like the icon I provided to replace the on that is in my provided apk, only problem is I don't think that would work because smooth calender changes the date each day on the icon.
Is there anyone that can at least give me some pointers?

bump...maybe move or copy to general theming forum? The background files for the widget are written xml
i would love to have that tooooo
+1 My attempts to edit the xml and recompile have been futile. I have edited other widgets without issue, so something is up with this one - or it would have been made transparent by now. Surely others are taking advantage of the free cloud space and would like a widget that isn't so ugly.

[Q] Transparent app drawer background?

The black background of HTC's Sense looks really lo-tech to me, like they're not even trying to make it look decent. In my opinion, they could have at least given it a gradient layer.
Anywho, is there a way to get a transparent app drawer background without changing launchers? I've really grown to like Sense GUI and all it's useful little widgets
If this isn't possible, can the app drawer background at least be changed to a custom image of some sort? Or as a more general question, can the drawer be altered in any other way, shape, or form, besides the column/row number?

you can change your theme, by using uot kitchen, just change the part you like , in your case transparency under options...
here is a link : http://uot.dakra.lt/
I don't know. I've used UOT Kitchen before, but I've never come across any such option. Would you, or anyone else, mind telling me which tab to look under?
Tried it in my rom, but it didnt work.
You need to decompile rosie.apk and change colors in xml files.
Custom images not possible.
Google it on xda forum.

Oh, well. I guess I can live with a black app drawer then I'd have tried doing that, but since a more experienced person couldn't do it, I don't see why I should bother with it.
@b02
You misunderstood, I meant the app drawer, not the pull-down status bar, but thanks for the reply =]

thank you.
i like the one in here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21115614&postcount=1 it's just that it's 4x5.
i cannot post to that thread...low post count.
thanks!
You could go launcher ex it has that option to change the app drawer background
If you use Go Launcher, you lose the Sense widgets which is considered by many to be one of Sense's biggest features... And the OP mentioned that he liked the widgets.
And this thread was ages old!
App Drawer and Dock
Has anybody got a zip that will make the app drawer and dock transparent. I'm running sense and no ROM.

[APP] Clean Clock Widget

I like seeing living things in my homescreen, and I was looking for a clock widget that had the seconds in it and couldn't find one that I really really like, that's why I developed this clock widget, It is simple, clean and beautiful, please give it a try and leave me some feedback right here.

Thanks.
Pretty nice but I don't like the font. Would be so much better with just regular Roboto or some other thin font.

You ever tried Minimalistic Text app-widget?
this app shows the time in text, the user-interface of all the settings is not pretty, but the widget shows a nice clock as text.
I installed your app, And i understand what you mean, just a plain simple clock as widget would be nice.
So when i wanted to use your clock i could not find it anywhere between the widgets in the menu?
Teoctist
If you could make the days more visible? Like putting in bottom and havin it full name?
Nice work
Downloading.

It should be in the widgets menu, sometimes when I install widgets that happens to me too, I believe that android takes some minutes to refresh the widgets in the widgets menu.

Modding the Sense 5 Weather Clock Background?

Hello everyone,
I'm trying to modify the background of the sense 5 weather clock (the one that flips with the weather juuuust below it) not to make it transparent like everybody else is doing. I'm trying to theme it to go with a modified app drawer image and navigation bar image. The problem is I don't know which files to edit in order to do that. Could anyone here give me some advice or pointers?
Yes I have searched for a guide or tut to do it but all I find is people supplying one they made or pointing at a thread that has them already made. I would like to do this myself though.
Thanks in advance for any help
Have you heard of sense 5 toolbox? You can set transparency of many items...

Where is that image? I took a look inside of the prism apk but found nothing by that name.
But for everyone else reading, I'm not looking for transparency, I'm trying to overlay another image over, thus changing how the panel looks.

Are you talking about the panel where the weather condition is ?
That is common_panel.9.png in com.htc.resources.apk/res/drawable-xhdpi
Changing this will affect the widgets background too
Thats the one!!!

YES THAT'S THE ONE!
Just in case I added a screenshot, I circled the panel jsu so that everyone knows what I'm talking about. I found that common_panel.9.png but it's basically just a circle?
What I want to do is make that panel look like the navbar you see in the image I attached, if it's just a circle then it might not work or be possible.
Nobody have any ideas?
Does nobody here have any ideas on how to achieve this?

In both Sense 5 and Sense 5.5, the png is indeed found in the resources apk. It is the common_panel.9.png and it can be themed but only basically. The best you can do with it is make it with a border either transparent or semi. However, depending on how skilled you are with editing xml, you could put a custom PNG in the drawable folder and edit the layouts to navigate to that specific image. That way your newly themed image will be used and not the common_panel.9.png. If you look at my theming thread from Sense 5.5, you'll see what I mean.
