I want to change the background color of the settings menu from my SGS. It's black now (in every theme, stock or custom).
Anyone know which png file I have to change? Or is this a color described in a color XML file?
I hope someone can help
Kind regards,Vintiem
Really nobody know's? (maybe the reason that also every custom made theme has that standard black background).
Someone knows where I possibly can find my answer?
Kind regards,
Vintiem

Take a look inside settings.apk - I believe there's a bg file in there (haven't tried changing it)...
Edit: Now I can't find it. Hmmm, sure I saw it somewhere...
When there's no png for background it can be .xml related.
You need to decompile Settings.apk to edit .xml-files...
what's the best xml editor?
No one knows which xml doc I have to take to change the background colors?

use adw launcher ex
I have ADW launcher ex. But you can change just a few things instead of what I excepted. it's not crap but absolute not what it says: change almost everything!!
So I think I have to live with that ugly black background because no one can tell me how to change it.

Okay, I've just ported over a few themes to the ultimate droid 2.1.0 and in the transition, my menus font is white on a white backgroud. I cannot see the font unless I use the trackball and highlight it. Would anybody be willing to show me what files to change that or even better help me by changing them for me? I am not a themer by any means and am just looking for a little help thanks.

Nobody knows how to do this? I am going crazy trying to figure this out. Thanks
It's in the colors.xml I think .
It may be in values folder.
Once you decompile the
framework.apk
Not at a computer or I could give you a better idea.

I'm running the new Urban theme that was just updated for Ultimate droid 2.1.0....It happens on any program i run when i hit menu to bring up menu options, the font is white on a white backgroud.... Just need to change either the font to black by default or background to default
halfway there
Ok, I've extracted the framework-res file to my PC... I located the colors folder and now i'm in need of help on how to edit the file to make the font black instead of white... What program do i use to edit the file, and how do i repack the framework-res to insert back to the phone? Any help
menu_background.9.png and the image right next to it meed to be themes, they control the background when you hit soft menu button.

Cheers, exactly what I was looking for while themeing my SGS
Does anyone know what XML is responsible for the pop-up menu text color?
See screenshot.
I'm pretty confident it is in framework-res.apk, beyond that I am not sure.
+1 to this

In all honesty, I don't think you answered his question...but good try (I think). He's referring to the XML file within that APK you mentioned that is responsible for the text colors in the homescreen menu options.
I still have to practice how to swap icons. I just want to change the spinning icon...
You're right, I am pretty confident that I didn't answer his question. The only reason to believe that the xml is in framework-res.apk is the fact that the icons and menu_background are also in framework-res.apk. I have found that although the icons are there, doesn't necessarily mean that the layout/colors/etc. are controlled by that apk.
For example, if you open com.htc.resources.apk you will find a ton of icons associated with the HTC Sense Dialer, but the color & layout are stored in phone.apk and HtcDialer.apk separately. I say all that to say this, I am pretty confident that you are looking for /res/values/styles.xml or maybe /res/values-hdpi/styles.xml in a decompiled framework-res.apk but 1) can't be sure that this is the correct xml to edit or 2) that the text color is even an xml edit.
So again, +1 to wanting to know how the text color is changed.
Nobody knows? All these theme experts and nobody helps....
Awesome!
I'm looking for the png or xml that controls the white background for this menu. Found the icons that are in the menu but not the background itself
Thanks for the help guys. They are pngs in the framefork-res.apk= drawable-hdpi= and they are menu_submenu_background.9, menu_background_fill_parent_width.9 and menu_background.9
But now i have a new problem. Does anyone know how to change the text color? I need it either white or even red.
The menu background color will be located in an xml file in the /system/framework/framework-res.apk
Not sure the file but it will be controlled by a theme xml
That is a png it is most likely in a sub folder you have to look just because menus are in drawable-hdpi doesn't mean that the menu base is ill try and find it and edit post when I do
Edit its in drawable-hdpi search menu its there you have to really look though
Are you sure that you didnt just find the .9.pngs? i am pretty sure the color itself is controlled by the XMLs as well though wouldnt bet my life on it.

If you get the chance or someone finds out for sure please let us know.

Bump..... Anyone know the answer on how to change the color of the text in the menu

Text color is def in xml files. Also as a warning make sure you are correctly modifing the .9 files if you treat them like plain. Png files you will likely have problems down the road.

Yup yup looked in pretty much every Xml in htc.resources.apk and framework-res.apk and i'm starting to think that i'm looking in the wrong place. Maybe it's in a .jar?
I already got the .9 pngs made up and they are about 90% transparent. That is why i need to change the text color cuz u cant really see it now.
Hi.
I've been playing around with my phone for a while now. I used UOT Kitchen to get transparent notification bar.
But what I'm really interested in is a transparent app drawer. I have gone through all the .png's in systemUI, framework-res, twframework-res, touchwiz30launcher and i did not see a single .png that the system would use as a app drawer background.
And as far as i understood the transparency is enabled in those .xml files.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1255155 - this is what I'm talking about.
I'd be glad if anyone would tell me what lines/files i have to add and where.
And if anyone bothers to help me, I will most definitely make a guide how to do this
And also, is there a way to change the background color in menus with font color ( cuz i've seen ROM's with white background and grey font)
Peace
PS! I didn't know whether I should post this in General or here, but as it is theme related I believe it belongs here.

Search. You will definitely find in one of the threads in the Themes and Apps forum itself.
And, Please ask QUESTIONS in Q & A forum.
Tip - If you search, you can find a MOD by bala_gamer.
That will change your background to blue.
A simple editing in the file can change the background to your desired shade/color.
Try framework-res.apk/red/values/bools.XML
I'm certain there's a "is white" type setting in there

supreethms is right, but to make it a bit easier the mod is called "touch-wiz glass: and as he mentioned it's pretty much what you're looking for.
