Hi.
I'm going to mod my stock ROM to be as i want, but i need to know which image files i need to edit for making a custom Application-Bar, you know the one to pull up and down on homescreen.
Anyone knows?
status_bar_close_on.9.png is the bar that is dragged down and the permanent one at the top is statusbar_background.png
Already got that one modded with the hero status bar.
Its the one at the bottom with the apps i want to change. Got any idea what these files are called?

I've only done this with cyanogen so not sure whether this is same for all but here goes:
Launcher.apk\res\drawable-port\ic_tray_collape.png
Launcher.apk\res\drawable-port\ic_tray_expand.png
Launcher.apk\res\drawable-port\tray_handle_pressed.png
Launcher.apk\res\drawable-port\tray_handle_selected.png
and the background for the Launcher menu:
Launcher.apk\res\drawable\pattern_carbon_fiber_dark.png
if we change the bar to darker colour, surely it will be impossible to read the clock. Could someone confirm?
Thanks

With a little more modding you can change the text color.
Changing the clock colour is a pain as it is in services.jar rather than the framework-res.apk, if anyone has steps to edit the services.jar do let me know
check out the dream section- there is a thread there about how to do it. Not easy.

Has everyone ever thought about porting the default/stock android notification bar, with all its icons and such and its greyish color?? The same I can see in the android emulator on my computer to be clear...I think it's really good!
Is it difficult to port it?
no wouldnt be to hard you would have to replace the icons from galaxy framework-res.apk with the ones from stock one
Looking for this but can't find it anywhere
I made stock like notification bar a while ago, but I haven't had time to finish it. The only thing that was left was changing the text colour on the notification bar / pull down.
EDIT: I've attached the file. If anyone wants to take up the project, they can. Replace the framework-res file with the one attached. Will not work via update.zip as I haven't set it up to be flashed. It's for XXJPO.
Ok so I've managed to edit a few of my apks on my phone to something that I like better and that's been easy because i knew the files I needed to edit would be in the apk itself. With me so far?
So now I want to edit some files on the ROM I'm using, but this is where it gets tricky, because I dont know if I need to edit the framework, SystemUI, or Roise, etc.... to get what I want.
So... here is my question: Attached is an image of my menu that pops up when I git my Meny button on my Evo. You'll notice my icons are pulled from another Rosie.apk which I replaced with my current Rosie.apk. I had to pull edit and push this mod because flashing it was not compatible with my current ROM. So now, that i have the icons I want, I want to make the background of this menu (and possible others) black transparent and the text white. I know this can be done because I've seen it and would like to know which files need to be edited.
Does anyone know that could toss me a bone??
I've also posted this on Android Central, but no one seems to know there...
for the menu background color it should be either menu_background or menu_background_fill_parent_width both in framework-res.
For the text color i dont know but poke around the .xmls in framework or ask here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=468254&page=283

Can one of you guru's give a noob a hand and tell me what i'm doing wrong.
no matter what i do i can't seem to theme the status bar.
I've created a new statusbar_background.9.png (yes i know .9.pngs are odd)
but i can't seem to actually make the phone take the change.
everything else i try and change shows up with no problem.
i've tried everything i could think of but am sure i'm missing something.
this file (attached) seems to do what i want if i drop it in framework-res on my old phone. or systemui on my tablet.
there is a statusbar_background.9.png in systemui but ????
but on the touch even if i edit the .xml and call it as drawable both as a .9 and a normal .png and i can't seem to make the touch like the change. i don't get a FC i just see the standard black bar. if i just delete the png i do get a fc though so...
I've even tried with a solid red bar just to see if it was the transparency but no go.
is it calling a different statusbar_background from somewhere i just can't find?
Many thanks to the person who tells me how im an idiot

Ahh yes the dreaded 9.PNG file... it drives us themers nuts... it takes special edit which a little more than I can explain here. Search edit 9.PNG and I think you will find threads that will explain it in depth... probably not the answer you wanted but there are people on xda who have explained it much better than could...
thanks i'll give it a few more shots. but i'm fairly certain i created the .9.png correctly as it works on a couple other devices. and all my other .9 edits seem to work as intended. just was wondering if it was possible that it really wasn't the statusbar_background.9.png in systemui.apk that themed the status bar by some chance. as it seemed to FC if i had an incorrectly made png, but boots fine just with no change if i use one i'm pretty sure works.
just wish some themer had skinned the statusbar at all so i'd know it was just me being a mooley
I'm wondering the same thing, as I've changed almost everything else to MIUI style status indicators just by swapping PNG's in the drawable-hdpi folders. Crysis21 uses an HTC style status bar in his SensatioN ROM, and I've downloaded it to search the files and still can't find where the hell the change is made.
Yea just seems to want to foil my every try. It should just be the status_bar.9.png in systemui and mine seems to work on my buddies international s2 but for some reason ........ Dunno it may take me a while but ill figure it out eventually. Unless some kind soul steps in and shows us the answer

Sorry about the format, I wasn't able to upload a zip for some reason, the attached file has all of the drawable-hdpi folder changes I've made. The work isn't my own, only some of the tweaks and proper naming, its from HTC, the MIUI devs, and the brilliant minds (obviously mine excluded) on XDA.
Thanks....gonna try and learn as well. You guys are mch better than i but we all start simewhere right

Hello there,
After flashing the Nexus OSBs (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2395929) and realising I wasn't happy with the middle icon's colour,, I decided to do some research and figure out how to change the icons myselff. After some dabbling, I finally figured out how to do this and I'm happy with it.
However, the background bar for the OSBs is a greyish colour, and not black like the status bar (as you can see in the SS). I was wondering if anyone knows how I can change this? Is it a PNG in SystemUI.apk? I tried to search for it but 'm afraid I couldn't find anything.
Thanks very much
EDIT: For other people with a similar question. I've found the solution! I don't use ADB so I had to reflash the SystemUI.apk but the answer lies in editing an XML file
In SystemUI.apk /res/layout/navigation_bar.XMLyou can change "android:background="xx" to #000000 android:background="#000000"

Hello everyone,
I'm trying to modify the background of the sense 5 weather clock (the one that flips with the weather juuuust below it) not to make it transparent like everybody else is doing. I'm trying to theme it to go with a modified app drawer image and navigation bar image. The problem is I don't know which files to edit in order to do that. Could anyone here give me some advice or pointers?
Yes I have searched for a guide or tut to do it but all I find is people supplying one they made or pointing at a thread that has them already made. I would like to do this myself though.
Thanks in advance for any help
Have you heard of sense 5 toolbox? You can set transparency of many items...

Where is that image? I took a look inside of the prism apk but found nothing by that name.
But for everyone else reading, I'm not looking for transparency, I'm trying to overlay another image over, thus changing how the panel looks.

Are you talking about the panel where the weather condition is ?
That is common_panel.9.png in com.htc.resources.apk/res/drawable-xhdpi
Changing this will affect the widgets background too
Thats the one!!!

YES THAT'S THE ONE!
Just in case I added a screenshot, I circled the panel jsu so that everyone knows what I'm talking about. I found that common_panel.9.png but it's basically just a circle?
What I want to do is make that panel look like the navbar you see in the image I attached, if it's just a circle then it might not work or be possible.
Nobody have any ideas?
Does nobody here have any ideas on how to achieve this?

In both Sense 5 and Sense 5.5, the png is indeed found in the resources apk. It is the common_panel.9.png and it can be themed but only basically. The best you can do with it is make it with a border either transparent or semi. However, depending on how skilled you are with editing xml, you could put a custom PNG in the drawable folder and edit the layouts to navigate to that specific image. That way your newly themed image will be used and not the common_panel.9.png. If you look at my theming thread from Sense 5.5, you'll see what I mean.
