hello everyone
ı have got one question and ı need to ask
ı installed avast antivirus into my galaxy w and avast is installed for 6 months but avast never found virus or something like that so far
moreover this app is eating 10-15 mb from my ram
do you think this app is really necessary or not? and does this app work perfectly?
so should ı remove avast or not?
ım waiting your answers
best regards
I personally had times when I used it for a few months and when I didn't, I have AVG installed on my phone right now but not used, it's greenified so it doesn't take up my ram but it's there just in case. It has never detected a virus when I was using it. I don't exactly know the answer though, doesn't seem needed if you stick to play store apps and not download any suspicious content, otherwise I would leave it installed just in case.
By the way, please use the Q&A section next time you have a question

Wrong section as Yeti said.
My set up was... and still is in my new phone... that I didn't use any antivirus.
I felt there was no point in there being any.
Im just used kaspersky for a while but now im not using because its not required (only waste of ram i think )

i dont use any anti virus
@sir mordred
i think antivirus apps are not doing so much!
because of that its not necessary
NO NEED FOR ANTIVIRUS AT ALL! TRUST ME. WASTE OF RAM!

Well if there are AntiViruses around I would think that viruses do exist for Android phones .

It really is a non issue. Can you cite any viruses that have been released and affected phones?
Just check the permissions of apps and don't install fishy ones without doing a little research first.
I have Lookout on my phone. I guess its doing its job but there haven't been any viruses. The other reason I have it is if you lose your phone there is a phone locator feature using the Evo's gps.

Just give it time. It's a big untapped market out there.
I use AVG both on my phone, and my computer. On my Linux boxes I use ClamAV.
Do I Evan need one ?
I read at Sprint users forum & some said its just taking memory & not doing much .
Is it true ?

They all said pretty much the same thing " watch out for what you install " check remissions that's all .
True ?

linux is completely open-source with a MASSIVE community of support. there's no reason for there not to be virii floating around for linux and possibly even android.
Seems like all AVs do is check permission for ones that shouldn't be there.

I found them useless since it's never cleaned an "infected" file, just told me about them.

Just me..but why worry about viruses when one could have "root" and get your whole phone and all of the data and connection permissions on it to everything you connect to "in the cloud" and elsewhere.
A simple rogue app would do this and never be considered it a virus.. all you have to do is install it and give it su and it does it all. This isnt a windozes environment...we want it all.."root"...viruses are child play for windoze. my opinion.

Another topic of the same kind. Anyways as usual have to reply to it.
First of all, android doesnt have viruses as far as i know. There are 1 or 2 reported but are completely harmless. Yeah, malwares are there.
Prevention from malwares can be- you should know what you are downloading and from where. Use apps like pdroid/lbe security and droidwall to limit the access of app. This is the best thing you should do to prevent something called malwares. AND BTW, ONCE AGAIN I AM TELLING, ANTIVRUS ISNT NEEDED ON ANDROID, IT SLOWS OUR SYSTEM LIKE HELL :/

As for a serious reply I would recommend Avast.
I didn`t really care for the antivirus, but for the anti-theft options. AV seemed to do it`s job, but I didn`t encounter any viruses.

oh, I know at least of two that aren't harmless: the flash-once-a-day-virus and the try-out-highly-experimental-stuff-trojan
But you won't need any antivirus software to avoid them - just stay away from xda

I always knew that antivirus for android [linux] is not necessary
Since you know what you're doing and you have in mind that nowadays nothing is 100% secure even with antivirus
Avast antivirus looks good, especially for the Anti-theft part. I hope it tackles known malware though.
Ok tnks for the report bro .

HI guys,
since agot my beast sgn2 areally always face a battery drainin' wakelock called battery monitor and screwed to get rid or just even reduce its waketime so any suggestions???
thanx in advance
Most likely its one of the Battery widgets you are using which is causing the lock to read the battery info very aggressively.
Best is to 'Disable' such apps/widgets from Applications menu and see which one is causing it

i saw ur post in the BBS topic and u have many wakelocks beside battery monitor and i asked the dev before u did and he told me that he need a dump file to identify the cause of this wakelock
concernin' ur post u've maps wakelocks and bad network coverage causin' alot of these wakelocks .....
thanx bro for ur interaction
Hmm. I need to upload a damn dump then.
And bad coverage? No. You can see the network signal bar is green always, don't have a bad coverage over here. Maybe FD causing something! And that Map wakelock is due to location history was enabled, maybe!
i also feel this weeklock is itself generated by BBS. nothing to worry

Malware checking at best. I'm not sure how those heuristics would work if it passes app store scrutiny.

Never use antivirus, make phones lag and eat battery.
hey guys , my phone is currently running latest ditto note 3 rom, but its a bit laggy , and if i don't restart the phone these little lags becomes more and more till i force to reboot the phone ! i was reading phantom's thread they say its too fast and too stable and too much battery life , i wanna know if its true ? phantom is a better rom than DN3?

Because you're lazy and like most n00bs you want spoon feeding which is also not allowed.
What is best/smooth for me wont necessarily be smooth for you. "Best" is also subjective so all you're going to get is mixed opinions which makes the whole idea of topic useless which and just clutters up place if people are allowed to ask such a topic each time they want to flash their phone which is why these topics are not allowed on XDA.
If you want to find out which is best for you, try them and find out!
