Antivirus is actually not need in these type of device, but if you really want it i would recommend you the avast antivirus, as it has got a very cool anti-theft...if you have got anymore question feel free to drop it in my threads=> link below!

I used Avast during several months and I received no warning. I think that it could be nice if u go to dangerous website thanks to the firewall (root needed).

You can install Avast Anti-theft and then delete Avast Antivirus - no need to have both if you don't want to.
I was wonderin' ...do we really need an antivirus for our devices?

Malware checking at best. I'm not sure how those heuristics would work if it passes app store scrutiny.

Well if there are AntiViruses around I would think that viruses do exist for Android phones .

It really is a non issue. Can you cite any viruses that have been released and affected phones?
Just check the permissions of apps and don't install fishy ones without doing a little research first.
I have Lookout on my phone. I guess its doing its job but there haven't been any viruses. The other reason I have it is if you lose your phone there is a phone locator feature using the Evo's gps.

Just give it time. It's a big untapped market out there.
I use AVG both on my phone, and my computer. On my Linux boxes I use ClamAV.
Do I Evan need one ?
I read at Sprint users forum & some said its just taking memory & not doing much .
Is it true ?

They all said pretty much the same thing " watch out for what you install " check remissions that's all .
True ?

linux is completely open-source with a MASSIVE community of support. there's no reason for there not to be virii floating around for linux and possibly even android.
Seems like all AVs do is check permission for ones that shouldn't be there.

I found them useless since it's never cleaned an "infected" file, just told me about them.

Just me..but why worry about viruses when one could have "root" and get your whole phone and all of the data and connection permissions on it to everything you connect to "in the cloud" and elsewhere.
A simple rogue app would do this and never be considered it a virus.. all you have to do is install it and give it su and it does it all. This isnt a windozes environment...we want it all.."root"...viruses are child play for windoze. my opinion.
Air push it's able to take whatever they want from out phone because they are interfered to Android sdk. We need to oblivify their techniques.

Airpush should be illegal. At the very least have some way to opt out. Reverse engineering it would be the best way for the community to handle it.

Two questions, but one of them is answered by google.
1. What is air push?
2. Does OP even know what a SDK is?

I am not sure understanding how would new sdk change existing apps.
If you are concerned about ads and push services you can block internet for offending apps using for example DroidWall (firewall) or block permission with another apps.
It helps a lot extending battery life as well cleaning the screen from ads.
Well it would be better if we can eliminate all the airpush's abilities without all the apps with just Androids OS integrated techniques to have a better Android experience, not to block air push, that sounds so simple and degrading to the controversy of the topic. An arrangement made for the OS to incorporate certain logic in finding application which are oblivious to recreation.

Why are you all being so difficult???? Why hasn't anyone thought of this yet? All he is saying is he thinks air push's abilities should be stopped/removed just like carrier i.q. was. Instead of using an app to tell you which apps are using air push abilities why can't we just stop it from the get go. I clucked the link for the opt out app and it says device not compatible.

It did and that might actually be possible but there are good uses of air push though. The os itself doesn't have any air push ads and those are usually created by installing sketchy apps. People shouldn't install sketchy apps. Its how you prevent getting viruses in windows . There are air push apps that tell you which apps are abusing it
Like the spoof information on our phones to route back straight to air push email address for their own information case. Why take it, when we can handle it back to them?

Another topic of the same kind. Anyways as usual have to reply to it.
First of all, android doesnt have viruses as far as i know. There are 1 or 2 reported but are completely harmless. Yeah, malwares are there.
Prevention from malwares can be- you should know what you are downloading and from where. Use apps like pdroid/lbe security and droidwall to limit the access of app. This is the best thing you should do to prevent something called malwares. AND BTW, ONCE AGAIN I AM TELLING, ANTIVRUS ISNT NEEDED ON ANDROID, IT SLOWS OUR SYSTEM LIKE HELL :/

As for a serious reply I would recommend Avast.
I didn`t really care for the antivirus, but for the anti-theft options. AV seemed to do it`s job, but I didn`t encounter any viruses.

oh, I know at least of two that aren't harmless: the flash-once-a-day-virus and the try-out-highly-experimental-stuff-trojan
But you won't need any antivirus software to avoid them - just stay away from xda

Since you know what you're doing and you have in mind that nowadays nothing is 100% secure even with antivirus
Avast antivirus looks good, especially for the Anti-theft part. I hope it tackles known malware though.

I too was unsure about this app, it seemed obvious but I thought perhaps with no verification on device perhaps I could download my thd games. I think its fair to ask what this market does in a more specific sense but if your assuming free apps then we should have fun with you

hello everyone
ı have got one question and ı need to ask
ı installed avast antivirus into my galaxy w and avast is installed for 6 months but avast never found virus or something like that so far
moreover this app is eating 10-15 mb from my ram
do you think this app is really necessary or not? and does this app work perfectly?
so should ı remove avast or not?
ım waiting your answers
best regards
I personally had times when I used it for a few months and when I didn't, I have AVG installed on my phone right now but not used, it's greenified so it doesn't take up my ram but it's there just in case. It has never detected a virus when I was using it. I don't exactly know the answer though, doesn't seem needed if you stick to play store apps and not download any suspicious content, otherwise I would leave it installed just in case.
By the way, please use the Q&A section next time you have a question
