[Q] HTC One X Repairer Required - HTC One X

Hi,
I have a One X which discharged to nothing a few weeks ago last Saturday night/Sunday morning as I was in hospital and my wife was using it to call people.
I had a similar problem in June, once dead it won't take any charge, it won't power up normally and it won't boot up either with the volume down being pressed at the same time.
Nothing lights or flashes, even after 24 hours on charge.
In June I sent it to O2 and it came back fixed, but I've had a conversation today to say the warranty is voided as I've rooted it.
It's been checked by a local repairer and I'm told it's not a battery or charging issue.
Can anyone recommend somebody who does full repairs rather than the usual local screen replacement etc.
Cheers
Darren:crying:

Unfortunately, when I plug it into my PC I get nothing. I cannot access the boot folders or anything.

[Q] Help MY DInc is dead!!!

I went to bed last night with my phone being at 30% battery charge so i plugged it in over night then i woke up around 2am tried checking for the time but my (rooted)Incredible was completely dead so i pulled the battery out and put it back in and nothing no light showing that my phone is charging no nothing i try to get into recovery but nothing... I called Verizon and told them about the issue at first they said that it could be the battery but then they said that it could be moisture so they said that my phone is still under warranty and that they could send me a new one if i want but i told them to hold on on that. What should i do? if i send my phone back for a replacement will they notice that my phone is rooted if it doesnt turn on at all?
I used to work at VZW - usually phones that don't power on aren't given a second look. Sometimes if the store had a flashing machine we would try that but... I doubt the tech would notice the "S-OFF". If you are sending it in to do the exchange I wouldn't see a problem.

Thanks for the quick reply. When i called this morning the tech told me that all the data including pics and vids could not be recovered is that a sign that they cant even get into the phone?
Thank you for your input but I just realized that the battery was the problem. Thank you again.

[Q] HTC Desire won't boot or charge

Hi! My first post here and, sadly, not a pleasant one for me.
Today I, while charging my rooted Desire (Ginger Villain 2.8, if that matters), launched an app and it crashed (black screen but with status bar still showing). Since none of the buttons were responding, I took out the battery and then put it back in and tried to boot it. I went as far as the GingerVillain logo screen but then stopped the process. Since I was impatient (and dumb...), I pulled the battery out again. On the next boot process it halted at the white HTC screen. But now on the 3rd try it refuses to boot at all. No response what so ever when I press the Power button. Charge LED doesn't light up if I connect the USB cable.
What could I have messed up? Any solutions? I sure hope I haven't bricked it or something... Any help is appreciated!
Can you access hboot or fastboot? If yes, use the last one flash ruu. If not, use the search. There is a thread with nearly the same problem like yours and when I remember correctly, it got solved.
Power + Volume down doesn't work.
The other thread that seemed to be about this problem also involved some physical damage. My phone hasn't been dropped or soaked though.
I will try to get a hold of a charged battery and see what happens. Don't know why would it crash and burn like this considering that I wasn't installing anything. :/
Also some people suggested a while ago, to take out the battery and leave the phone alone for a few minutes, then try to boot again.

Had it sitting for approx. 4h with the battery removed. Put it back in and still no response what so ever. Power button doesn't do anything nor does plugging in a charger. Wasn't able to put in a charged battery because no one I know has this phone.
Not happy about this. And I'm pretty sure the tech support will just end up blaming the root...
Well, try to hold down the power button for at least 30 seconds while the battery is off. It works with notebooks. Other than that, no idea.
i guess mobo is dead, with roor you loose your warranty as well, so if mobo is realy dead you need to buy new phone, or try look on Ebay, but first sent it to htc just for diagnostic, we need to know what realy happend to your phone and after that look for advice

eehh..no.... if the motherboard is dead - so is the root, they won't know, so you still have your warranty.
My phone also randomly died on me once, it was rooted and S-OFF'd, sent it to htc and they repaired it for me. Don't worry about it just send it off. If it's dead it's dead.
in that case you are right, if mobo is realy dead so the root is dead too, yeah
sent it to htc and you will see
Heh encouraging replies.
Anyway, I don't have an official subsidiary of HTC in my country so I'll just bring it to the shop I bought it from. Not sure if they do diagnostics and repairs themselves or just forward it to HTC.
Since I've never gave a phone for repairs, what are your suggestions regarding the SD card? I assume it's fine if I just remove it and bring in just the phone itself. Most of my apps are installed on the card, but I guess I can kiss them goodbye at this point, right?

no, all HTC as that you give them is your phone and your battery. No SIM card, no SD, no charger/ cables. Just the phone itself.
they dont need your sdcard, you should give them just phone, battery and thats all, everything else leave home, i just sent my phone with battery to repair, simple
Bumping this thread in case somebody finds it and wants to know the outcome. I gave the phone for repairs and the conclusion was a broken motherboard which they simply replaced.
I have to admit, I was ready to buy a new phone and now that I have my old one back, it's a kinda weird feeling. I definitely do want to upgrade to Galaxy S II but it's still bloody expensive. I guess I'll just wait till the end of my warranty (April next year) for even better phones to hit the market and upgrade then...

Unresponsive phone - Dead?

Bit of a strange one.....
Phone was fine last night, replied to a text, checked my phone 10 minutes later and its not working, doesn't seem to be responding to the power button so was a little confused, no captive feedback, no lights or sounds. Battery was showing 62% prior.
It hasn't worked since.
Tried:
- Holding down the power to restart the phone.
- Holding down power and vol - to get into the bootloader
- Charged it for 10 hours (doesn't even indicate the LED)
- Tried connecting to a PC (and PC doesn't recognise it at all - again no LED)
The phone is an international one x. It is rooted and has been fine since August on root. Wasn't being used excessively or any stress that you would expect to cause a failure. Wasn't dropped or anything.
I'm stumped, had a search on here and can't find anything. So before i put an insurance claim in, does anyone have any suggestions? Battery failure? Motherboard failure?
Cheers

Phone is stuck in apx mode or something, you'll have to send it back for repair. I just did it 2 days ago, It's really worring because I'm seeing a lot of these cases but nobody has reported back to say what htc has done about it. I hope I don't get charged for it.

Is that likely to be software related? As Im giving a HTC rep a hard time on the Chat and he has stipulated the following (which i am tasking him about as i believe he is in accurate)
'Should our engineers find any physical damage, wear and tear, illegal software, illegal repair attempts or your warranty has expired, the repair will be chargeable and we will send you a quote via email.'
Well that covers every single warranty claim does it not?

How do i know its 100% dead, can they do anything i can't? Also they can tell from my IMEI its rooted and will blame that as a way to avoid a warranty claim.

Mine wasn't non existent to my pc. When I connected it via usb my pc made a sound but not like the normal one and then windows said it couldn't install the drivers. So each time I connected it a strange exclamation mark was showing where normally it would show usb connected.
There is no wear and tear and not opened it but if they mean illegal software as in custom rom then I'm F***ed. So I'm not sure how they'll respond. Got a msg from three uk today saying they've received my device and are assessing it now. So that was two days of sending it in, not bad.
Think I might open a thread when I get it back letting everyone know the final outcome since I haven't seen anyone reporting on what similar experience they've had.

Again HTC has no chance in hell to know whatever happened to your phone ,they will change the motherboard ,end of story, please send it to HTC ,call them ,tell them phone is not respoding to anything, don't mention root or anything like that, they will arange pick-up ,HTC one x still has 16 months warranty, send it don't be a chicken

I never upgraded to JB so that debunks that myth, H3G_001 cid. I started experiencing massive lock-ups and force closures before it stopped responding (apx-mode). I have sent it in for repair now.

right then~ even i faced lot off errors just before it went dead....unfortunately i thought it to be a rom issue, but learnt my fate a few hours later !
Don't believe mine was an APX issue. Didnt get the 'APX Scfreen' that many describe or any kind of recognition from a PC either on the PC or the phone.
Phone was collected 2 hours ago. Will advise when i hear from them. If not i will put an insurance claim in through my phone insurance.

I have same problem with my One X. Phone is now in service and I wait to see what will be with my phone. I also have many problems with some apps, IGO stop to work, Google maps also and when I try to open quadrant standard my phone turn off display and died :crying: .
I am from Europa (Serbia) I bought brand new phone from a guy who brought it from Singapore (don´t have warranty). Phone is CID - 044 and Asia_WWE. My friend have phone service and yesterday he try everything and nothing, today will try with something what he called "BOX"
This is getting scary because the exact same thing is happening to many of us now and around the same time. I accepted a quote from three uk yesterday of £76 to repair it. The three service centre chap said due to illegal software they were not able to flash it. I am very saddened that I won't be able to flash from now on.

But they knew I'd put illegal software on it. I'm sure they just connected it to their pc got a nod from htc and that sorted that problem out. 76 quid please for looking at it.

[Q] phone dead htc one x

i am currnetly using an htc one x, which i havent rooted or flashed yet, 2 days ago the phone just got hung, without me doin anything, i just turned on the phone and it was just........stuck.......then it switched off by itself and switched on again, it went to the htc logo, then switched off again, the same cycle repeated 4-5 times. The battery had abt 76% charge left. Then all of a sudden, it just refused to turn on. I couldnt charge it, the device manager couldnt detect it, and i tried nearly every possible combination of the volume-power buttons, still nothing. I saw somewhere that if u just charge for 1-2 days it'll turn on again, but still no luck.......no response from the comp wen i plug it in.......still running the stock os.........pls help, i have almost lost faith in technology

Dude, it seems that your battery is flat. I'd suggest charging the phone via a power outlet and not the PC usb. Once you connect the phone to the power outlet you should get a red charging led..
After it's fully recharged, try rebooting..if still the same problem, get into the bootloader and do a factory reset...if still the issue persists, go back to the retailer where you bought this from and get a replacement...

Yup, it seems you have faulty mainboard...get it repaired..I wouldn't suggest spending a lot of money on repairing a outdated phone. If the service center is asking for a few hundred $ then scrap it..it's not worth it as you won't get any warranties for the repairs done.....besides, HTC will be stopping support for the phone after the next update to 4.2.2 even though the rest of world is on the latest Android versions...so at best you'll have another 2 more months by when your phone will be really outdated both in terms of hardware and software....
u are better off buying Chinese rip-off phones that have equivalent configs as the One X....sorry to say this..

H815 just died - no sign of life at all

I got a text message from a friend around an hour ago. I had my phone on charge at the time and it was about 25% charged. I started typing a reply when the screen froze, went black and the boot screen came on - classic crash and reboot, right. But when the boot screen came up, it only stayed on for a couple of seconds and then went off again and the phone has been completely dead since. Well I tried holding the power button for about 30 seconds and nothing happened. So I tried Vol Up+Pwr and the phone vibrated and the boot screen appeared for a split second and went off again and the phone has been dead ever since. I've had it on charge for about 40 minutes but no joy.
This doesn't seem to be the classic bootloop issue from what I know about it. So can anyone help me out with how I could revive it?

Cheers Gloim. I'll give this a try.
An update to what has been happening - I left the phone with the battery removed overnight. I came down this morning, put the battery in and tried turning it on. The boot screen came up, along with the blue led, which is hopeful as there were no led's last night. The boot screen stayed on the screen maybe 15 seconds before the phone turned off again. I removed/replaced the battery, turned it on, same thing. So I tried booting into download mode (hold Vol UP button, insert usb cable and hold Vol Up until Firmware Update screen.), but the phone started booting up normally. A bit into the boot animation, it rebooted again. So I tried a normal bootup and it got to the lock screen, where it rebooted again after about 15 seconds again. I booted normally again, lockscreen again. This time it refused to turn on again.
So it appears all may not be lost.

I'm experiencing the exact same issue. Not the bootloop error, phone just went off and it may or may not power up. Currently it's stuck on the LG splashscreen. Not being recognised by my PC, is there no hope?

No joy at all. I do know its the very common CPU/EMMC problem as I put the phone in the freezer for 15 minutes (in a freezer bag of course) and it booted up, but froze almost immediately and turned off again.
I contacted LG who rang me the following day asking for details and the caller said it is definitely a hardware issue, and if I send proof of purchase showing it was bought from a retailer it would be repaired free of charge. I bought mine from an ebay seller, which I told him, and he said if its an ebay company and not a private sale, it was ok. But if bought from a private seller, its considered 2nd hand and warranty is void, even if it was still sealed in its box, which I think is a bit harsh. Anyway, I thought I had bought mine from a private seller, but it turns out it was an ebay shop. I forwarded the proof of purchase and seller details on Friday and I've just received a call to say they are accepting it for a repair only. Which is less than ideal but they could've just said no I suppose. So when I get it back I'll sell it and buy something with a similar spec instead. Its the best phone I've used up till now.
Ok try ILAPO fix by disabling the2 cores and your phone will be on

Was it still in warranty? Mine only came with the 12 month LG warranty. I bought it in November 2015, so it's out of warranty. I did log a repair with LG and they tried to call me but I missed the call, they sent me an SMS earlier but their offices are closed today. Wondering whether they would consider an out of warranty repair as it's 509 serial number and they were known to be faulty.

I bought mine at the end of December 2015 and I read on their website that there is a 24 month hardware only warranty on the H815. They accepted it for a repair only under warranty, so I'm pretty sure there is an extended warranty period due to these hardware problems. They have accepted that it is an inherent problem so they would be legally bound to offer some sort of extension to the original warranty.
The only problem I can see now is them seeing the bootloader is unlocked and a custom recovery installed. But there was a legal ruling made in the UK several months ago in a case taken by a Samsung customer, that unlocking and rooting a phone is not a breach of warranty where a claim is made for a totally unconnected fault, ie an inherent hardware fault. But if the phone was rooted and overclocked causing cpu or ram damage, or bricked due to flashing an unsupported rom, for example, that would be a breach of warranty. But I get the feeling they would use any excuse to get out of honouring the warranty.
I just hope I get it back soon though. I'm using my old quadcore mediatek N9500 Chinese phone in the meantime and it's driving me mad. I don't remember it being this slow and laggy when I first got it

Interesting thanks. The web site shows 12 months for me? I will definitely give them a call then and see what they say. Good luck with yours.
Just a quick update, I rang LG this afternoon. I was asked a few questions, where I'd purchased from etc., then the agent started to book the repair in. I stopped her to ask whether it would be done under warranty, and she said, yes of course, your warranty is still current. So despite their web site indicating it had a 12 month warranty, it is 2 years. What a relief!

It goes either way some claim since its hardware failure there still warantying some of them even with unlocked bl. A lot of cases after return people having to update their device id with lg to get a new unlock .bin. Which means theyre honering unlocked bls too

Mine was picked up on Wednesday last week and delivered back today. 7 day turnaround, not too bad at all. I think they put a new board in it though. It's still marshmallow but it has been returned to O2 branding and the bootloader locked. My existing unlock.bin won't work with it either.
