Hi,
My phone cannot turn on anymore and i got it more than a year from Bell Canada. I went to a place who can repair the phone and found out the motherboard was burn because of some water around the usb port. (Not sure why...because no water go in that i can aware of)
But they cannot fix the motherboard for me and i would like to know anybody know how much samsung will charge for the whole repair?
If expensive, i think i will go to get a new phone instead.
Thank you

Hi there, I recently had an accident with my Nexus and damaged it's screen. I did find the phone to be working for the next few days even though there is no display. Since I got the phone off amazon (I'm in India), I sent it to Singapore through a friend for fixing a new screen. However, they are now telling me that my motherboard has been completely damaged and it needs fixing as well. I do not believe that because I have seen the phone function for few days after the accident. I heard phones calls and vibrations for texts.
How do I now figure out if he is indeed telling the truth about my motherboard? Is there any do-it-yourself method to it? My friend, who has my phone, did try switching it on after putting it on charge and said that there was no response from the phone. Does this confirm my motherboard's damage?
Well today i came to home as usually and i started to charge my gnex with the default charger. After 5mins i came back to my room and i noticed the smell of smoke, i looked up at the gnex and the mini-usb was ultra hot and i couldnt touch it and the gnex was ruined i couldnt turn it on and it didnt charge. Well i took it to warranty and they said that they will fix it in 1-2 weeks. Well my problem is that the phone was unlocked and i had custom rom on it. Earlier 2011 i got Huawei u8800 and got some display issues and it did go to warranty without problem. What do you think?
Odd that it ruined the entire phone. This happened to me 2 weeks ago and I literally just replaced the USB port myself, cost $10 on amazon. I don't doubt your statement, I just find it odd as the USB port is part of the daughter board, separate for the main motherboard. You can see on my bad daughter board the only thing that fried was the port it self, it didn't spred to any where else in the phone.
Hope Samsung takes care of it for you though! Good luck.
good luck, most of the time they dont really care for a device this old, it has been discontinued afterall so i am sure samsung wont have many parts in stock anymore.
but yeah like i said, most of the time they dont really look, so if your luck is good and didnt run into one of those guy whos very anal and serious about their job, you should be fine lol.
Well im afraid of the bill that may come to me, it can cost really over 100 euros if they have to order parts from somewhere else you know... well i really hope that the asshole worker doesnt fix my device...
Hello all, I have a friend who's wife's note 2 has have had rough life. Cracked screen cause of drops, minimal H2o damage, but despite all the miss-fortune her phone still works. It still makes and receives phone calls and texts, camera works, but the only problem now is that when connected to the charger a prompt comes up reading that the Battery is disconnected. We have swapped out each others batteries to see if that was the problem and it was not. Also this is a brand new battery my friend has just purchased. We did a factory reset thinking it might be a software issue, but to no avail. Any one else heard or seen this problem any where else? He is taking it into sprint today but that might be costly...sooo any ideas guys? Thank you.

I have. Sounds like the port is going out or the usb cable is going bad. Swap out the cable first. Also look inside the port. Do you see any of the legs sticking up or anything.

Yes I tried my usb today and no I could not see any prongs sticking up or anything. it looked like mine when I compared.

Well the only thing left I can think of is corrosion on the port. If sprint says there is water damage and refuses to replace unless you go to asurion, you should just buy a new port and solder it on yourself. Unless you dont have access to a soldering gun. Then idk.

Well thanks for trying to help us out man. He did ask about the insurance but apparently with the note 2 it is 200.00$ to replace the phone and not the normal 100 dollar fee for a smart phone. I just don't get why(well I do, its a money thing) it has gone from 50.00 bucks with insurance to replace a phone to 100.00 to replace smart phone to 200 for the note 2. I thought we were all under the impression that the note 2 is a smart phone and not a super smart phone. fudging ridiculous yanno. I mean it is a super smart phone but they shouldn't jack up our prices for it.

Hello to anyone reading this,
This crack in the board happened after it went through the clothes washer, and it was gf's phone so i feel really horrible about it :crying:.
Anyways i have yet to even find out what this piece of the board is named. It's cracked in two places on the vertical part of the board that leads down
to where the usb connector is located (everything else appears looks ok just these two cracked pieces). I'm just looking for any help at all, hoping
someone might be able to offer any help at all, or if it's even possible to salvage. I have an uncle that is got a good amount of experience in
soldering/electrical stuff and can handle the soldering/fixing since im still a bit of a noob, but he was unsure about how to go about it since it would
require some very small wires to fix the connection traces, so if anyone can offer any advice or instruction on mending i would greatly appreciate and
can send some BTC for your help. I attached 2 images, and can supply more if you need more detail.
So far the only thing i can think of is to get a broken board and remove the part i need at the easiest location it could be re-attached... no clue if that easier area exists though..
Why not just bring the phone to some phone repair shop (or a samsung specialized one), if available in your region. They should be able to repair it (if the price is ok with you), or be able to sell you the part you need (order it).
**It looks like even some chip is chopped... at the very least, probably too much water damage on them. You don't want to do this repair by yourself (or you uncle)... there are cases of phone components getting too hot and on fire if there are faulty wires/connectors.
****Definitely a new board is required.

Yeah seems like a new board might be the only solution..
can anyone tell me what exactly would be compatible? This was a verizon note 2 sch-i605 gt-n7100 rev 1.0.
Thanks all
After all these years the charging port is acting up. I still carry Insurance on since I bought it New. Is there anyway to repair myself of should I turn it in For repair? given the age they may substitute with something else just not sure.
