I am kinda new to the HTC world, i have an Xperia S, which is rather easy to downgrade in contrast to HTC one. After upgrading my HTC One X to 4.2.2 my battery is draining very much, it is nearly unusable. So i wanted to if it is possible to downgrade without opening bootloader or S-OFF or anything.
The answer is simple - not possible.
Because HTC One X has S-On, you can't downgrade. And until now there is no safe nor official method to S-Off it.

only way is unlocking bootloader

Please bare with me and help me out to downgrade the same. Please be simple in using terms, as I am very less experienced in using Android (hardly couple of months).

Do not flash anything from this forum or follow any guides in this forum, this is for the one x only.
You need to find the forum specific to the one x+ or you will have problems

Hi all,
sorry for my lack of knowledge, I'm a brand new HTC One X owner. I'd like to have the very standard software (ICS in this case) without the branding of T-Mobile. I've bought my phone in Poland (Europe Version).
Any step-by-step tutorials in here? I surely don't want to brick my new phone
not 100% sure on this but think only one way to debrand that is to unlock bootloader and root then install custom rom could be wrong tho

Well, I've got no problem with unlocking the bootloader etc. but I would like to have the normal ICS with HTC's Sense on the phone rather than some cyanogenmod or something along those lines. If anyone can help me out with the needed files and a step-by-step how-to (I'm not dumb when technology is involved, but I have absolutely no contact with the moding scene of Smartphones).

I think ARHD is meant to be pretty close to the standard sense experience. Cyanogen is a good release though, but maybe wait until its more stable on one x?

While i might instal this rom one day, I'd like to give the stock version a try. I don't want all the bull**** from t-mobile though The bootanimation alone is kinda ruining the experience for me

ARHD is a stock Rom tweaked to make it even better. you will find it much better, that is the only way to remove it, or rooting and flashing another boot animation
Easiest way I found was to unlock bootloader, root then delete all the carrier bloat you don't want and then flash a new bootanimation

Since you still opt for ICS the ARHD is the best alternative choice! Just search the thread on the XDA Developer you'll find it.
I have a T-Mob as well but flashed on CM10 for JellyBean and so far works great!
Hi,
I bought my HTC One X few months ago. And I didn't receive an update yet. When I was waiting for 4.1 JB update I see that my version is very old and I cannot even make a software update check. I don't have that menu in about section.
This my first post so I can't send screanshots but menu looks like that ABOUT>Software Information>
android version 4.0.3
HTC Sense version 4.0
Software Number 1.29.401.7 (Unlocked with HTCDev)
I searched the forum and can not find a solution for this please help.
Thanks
if you dont have the option it means you have a custom rom installed
make a backup of your phone
flash 1.29.401.7 ruu.
EDIT: and dont ever post questions again outside the questions forum

There may not be any updates since then. Jellybean is only just being officially released and isn't even released in most places.

Your phone should be on custom ROM as it do not owned a uodate check button.
You need to determine where your phone origin from by checking CID. Grab cid getter from play store or via fastboot fastboot getvar cid.
Then re-lock bootloader and flash the corresponding RUU to return to stock.
Kindly search and read some tutorials to learn before asking.
Am I right in saying that you bought your One X second hand, as obviously your bootloader has been unlocked via HTCDev
And searching under Android Development brings you right to this collection of all info that one might need:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1832891
Jelly Been Android 4.1 is only available for certain Hboot versions
You cand find yours by power down your device, wait a few seconds, then press Power and Vol- together and keep holding until you get to the bootloader screen.
From there you can select the recovery and see if that is installed, if not or you don't have the latest recovery installed follow this :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1592355
Obviously you are already unlocked so you can follow with installing your fastboot folder as described in the last thread and then install Clockworkmod 5.8.4.0 which is the latest...then do a nandroid back up of your current ROM and follow the guides to re-lock your One X, install the stock recovery for your current ROM, then run the apropriate RUU of which after you have the latest stock ROM for your fone and carrier.
BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING MAKE SURE YOUR One X IS FULLY CHARGED
I don't know how to unlock again as you won't have the initial Unlock Token mail from HTCDev...so maybe it is better to just stay with stock. So read read read and understand before you jump in! Have fun
And before byuing a second hand device next time make sure it runs all stock stuff, and if not, that you get also all documentation related to to the device you plan to purchase.

Guys I own a HTC One V for past 1 year. now since the warranty is over I am planning to root the phone and thinking of installing custom ROMs
The only issue is that I am completely new in this rooting/custom rom business. In other words I am complete noob.
Please make things simple for me and help me step by step so that I can root my phone.
After rooting please guide me in same simple manner how can I install custom ROMs on my One V?
Please give link of latest and supported custom ROM for One V? Which version is currently available for this phone? 4.2 or 4.3? Can I by any chance get 4.4 on this device?
Please guide!

I've wanted to say that HTC (as far as I know) is the only smartphones provider that let users unlock bootloader and root devices with step by step guide trough their official site. You have to google "HTC One V root" and search for htc.com site
I'm wondering why they won't sell unlocked and rooted devices
Hello there XDA Developers forum.
I got a HTC One M8 on contract with Three (UK) and was immediately disappointed with HTC Sense, and so, followed a YouTube guide to convert my standard HTC One M8 into a Google Play Edition HTC One M8. This guide included S-Off, and allows over the air updates. Also, the Google Play Edition ROM that the guide recommended I flash to my phone is not rooted, so the end result that I have is pretty much an exact replica of a Google Play Edition HTC One M8.
I am certain the over the air updates work, because before I "converted" my phone it was on 4.4.3, and after it was completed, a few weeks later I was promoted with an Android notification to upgrade to 4.4.4, which just worked without any problems. On the notification it even said "4.4.4 for your HTC One M8 Google Play Edition" despite my phone not actually being a "real" Google Play Edition model.
My question is, will the process be the same when Android L is released? IE, When Android L is released, will my phone get a notification like before and just be able to update like normal? Or since it's a pretty big update, will I need to flash a new ROM onto my phone? I'm hoping the over the air updates will take care of it again, but hoping someone could provide me with some info.
Thank you very much in advance everybody.
Brad

you'll be prompted, and depending on your setup will determine if you should follow through or not. (stock recovery, untouched sys apps, etc)

I would not follow any YouTube guide, but the RUU guide on this forums. Don't have the link at hand though, as I'm not at my PC at the moment. Just search for it on the forums.
Following a video you'll never collect the proper knowledge of what you are doing and thus most of the time don't know how to solve a problem if one occurs.
