Hi,
I bought my HTC One X few months ago. And I didn't receive an update yet. When I was waiting for 4.1 JB update I see that my version is very old and I cannot even make a software update check. I don't have that menu in about section.
This my first post so I can't send screanshots but menu looks like that ABOUT>Software Information>
android version 4.0.3
HTC Sense version 4.0
Software Number 1.29.401.7 (Unlocked with HTCDev)
I searched the forum and can not find a solution for this please help.
Thanks
if you dont have the option it means you have a custom rom installed
make a backup of your phone
flash 1.29.401.7 ruu.
EDIT: and dont ever post questions again outside the questions forum

There may not be any updates since then. Jellybean is only just being officially released and isn't even released in most places.

Your phone should be on custom ROM as it do not owned a uodate check button.
You need to determine where your phone origin from by checking CID. Grab cid getter from play store or via fastboot fastboot getvar cid.
Then re-lock bootloader and flash the corresponding RUU to return to stock.
Kindly search and read some tutorials to learn before asking.
Am I right in saying that you bought your One X second hand, as obviously your bootloader has been unlocked via HTCDev
And searching under Android Development brings you right to this collection of all info that one might need:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1832891
Jelly Been Android 4.1 is only available for certain Hboot versions
You cand find yours by power down your device, wait a few seconds, then press Power and Vol- together and keep holding until you get to the bootloader screen.
From there you can select the recovery and see if that is installed, if not or you don't have the latest recovery installed follow this :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1592355
Obviously you are already unlocked so you can follow with installing your fastboot folder as described in the last thread and then install Clockworkmod 5.8.4.0 which is the latest...then do a nandroid back up of your current ROM and follow the guides to re-lock your One X, install the stock recovery for your current ROM, then run the apropriate RUU of which after you have the latest stock ROM for your fone and carrier.
BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING MAKE SURE YOUR One X IS FULLY CHARGED
I don't know how to unlock again as you won't have the initial Unlock Token mail from HTCDev...so maybe it is better to just stay with stock. So read read read and understand before you jump in! Have fun
And before byuing a second hand device next time make sure it runs all stock stuff, and if not, that you get also all documentation related to to the device you plan to purchase.

S-On is a security feuture that HTC implemented to allow people to find their lost or stolen phone online. It is S-on by default and they(the awesome people on xda) are still working on a s-off solution.
You can still flash roms with S-on but you need your bootloader unlocked(Every One X has a locked bootloader). There is a noob friendly guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1592355 on how to do so.
The best rom will depend on your own taste. The sense roms are the least buggy and because they have source code for that. Roms like Charmelean, Leedroid, ARHD and so on. You'll see they are sense roms.
On your nr.5, everything you need to know is on the link 2 paragraphs up.
Hope you manage and wellcome to xda and one X, you'll love it here.

Dude!!! S-off or s-on has absolutely nothing to do with finding your phone! Stop bsing. It's a security feature that HTC implemented to lock certain parts of the system. If you have s-off it means full root.

Hi,
I bought an HTC One X from Telecom NZ earlier this week.
I checked my phones CID, and it is TELNZ001. Is this CID compatible with JB ROM's?
Nope. Sorry
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
You will have to wait for Telecom to release their branded version. They have most likely received the base from HTC and will release it when it's ready. You could of course root the phone, so once HTC release the software for unbranded versions sometime later this month, the chefs on here should have a compatible build up within hours! That's what I'm waiting for, even though my phone is unbranded, the CID is HTC_044 which is currently not compatible with the test release!
Considering there is a LIST OF CIDs in the OP of every Sense JB ROM it's not hard to work out for yourself that a branded handset isn't compatible. Seriously, why can't people just READ rather than go straight for the download links...

But I don't get why the sales guy that sold me the phone (who also bought his HTC One X from the store I got mine from) was able to root his One X, and run the CM10 daily ROM's.
Is it possible that he has an older version One X with a different CID?

No, he unlocked his bootloader, rooted his phone and flashed CM10. It's not too hard, there's good guides on the internet (Google it) and if you need any further help you can PM me if you want.
Just FYI: CM10 is NOT a Sense based JB ROM or even close. It is however a Jellybean (4.1.2) based ROM

Sorry, probably poor use of terminology on my behalf...that's what I want to do, unlock, root, and flash a custom ROM.
What is the relevance of the CID then to flashing a custom ROM?

The CID part only comes in if you want to flash a JB Sense custom ROM. This is because you need to update your HBOOT with a signed (official HTC) zip that checks for your CID, and if it is not on the list it will simply not flash. The HBOOT update is needed for compatability with the new kernel I believe

It doesn't matter what cid you have to use a custom/cm10 Rom, the reason you need a matching cid for the jb/sense roms is you need to update your hboot to run them and the hboot needs a matching cid to flash

You technically can flash ARHD, but no versions higher than 9.7.2 no (9.7.2 is the latest ICS based ARHD)

You can flash ARHD or any other rom which is not a Jellybean based sense rom. The CID is only relevant to change the hboot in order to successfully flash a JB sense rom.
Thanks all for clarifying things for me.
Can anyone let me know when the One X on Telecom NZ upgrades to Jelly Bean?
I really don't want to reinstall to stock rom just to check whether it's upgraded then to find out it's not and have to revert back to present rom.
Or tell me a way to check, emailing Telecom seems to be of no use.
Thanks
I got a private message from member kskendsup saying that Telecom NZ has released the Jelly Bean update for the One X.
Can anyone else confirm this is true?
I have confirmed with HTC and with telecom also that 4.1.1 is indeed out..but there is some prob from their side and they are not accepting it...I am thrashing them as i write this reply...bcoz i called up HTC NZ and they took my IMEI and told me that i was scheduled for an update sometime at the starting of dec...so our CIDs are indeed JB but something wrong with telecom i guess...I have received mail from them and I will include that in my next post here..!!

Anyways here is the mail they sent me which confirms the release
Thank you for contacting Telecom.
We have released the Jelly Bean (4.1.1) Update Last week.
New software is now available for the HTC One X. The update will add Android 4.1.1.
It will provide some feature enhancements, stability to the memory, fixes to CPU hung issue, screen blinking, can't charge, power on/off, etc.
The update will be available through HTC's FOTA (Firmware Over the Air) server. As the files are generally quite large, we suggest to connect via Wi-Fi to a Broadband connection.

HTC SDK API Level 4.23
HTC Extension version: HTCExtension_403_1_GA_20

Are you rooted with s-off?
Why take the OTA and loose root only to have root it again. Why not just flash the Rom after someone posts it. It is usually up within 24hrs of initial release. That is sometimes faster then waiting for it to get pushed to your phone.

But I'm guessing when it gets released and becomes available on here, then the cid number won't matter.

You can not simply flash a JB rom, hboot has to be updated to the newer ones !
This can be done by the leaked ones which i don't prefer ! I also will wait for the official update

You can use a matching ruu. That will flash boot.img, recovery and stock rom. But since you already have stock recovery, why do you need to reflash?

You just have to flash the stock recovery that comes with your stock RUU file. Look in this thread.
Yes, you have to flash the (stock)boot.img and the (original) nandroid backup after that the (stock) recovery .... Keep the bootloader unlocked.

So if im getting this right:

2. Stock Rom = CHECK
3. Stock Recovery = I just have to flash the stock recovery though fastboot?
4. Plus do i need to un-Root it?
Thanks mate.
hi is anyone got the update for HTC__044 CID ?
Hello everyone, sorry if this has been ask before, but i really need help..i see that the update 4.2.2 has come out recently but as far as i know only in europe..so my question is, does anyone know if the update will come out soon on any part of america? Im from Venezuela and i have my HOX from movistar, and the update obviously doesn't show, not yet at least..and honestly, i dont think that update will come any time soon or ever..so i decided to update my phone like a custom rom..but the problem is that i dont know what is that CID that everyone's talking about and dont know how to know mine..if anyone can help me in any way..the only thing that i can say about my phone right know is, that the bootloader its still lock, i have no root, and offcourse no custom recovery..so, i have an stock phone, and i really want to update my phone! ..i prefer an OTA update than to flash it from recovery, but i will try everything
PS: the english, you know sorry!

Firstly you need to find out if or not your device is AT&T. If so, then unlucky, because the update (as of yet) is only out for the international Tegra 3 version.
Your CID can be found by downloading a free app from the play store. Just search 'CID checker', but at the minute they are pretty much useless to pre determine any updates.
If your device is an international version, either wait with everyone else or manually flash the odexed stock 4.2.2 version onto your phone (this only works for Tegra 3).

CID (Carrier ID) is something like product code for a certain region.
To know your CID you can try this: CID Getter
Take a look here: [Guide] -The Ultimate Stock to Custom ROM Awesomeness thread - Noob friendly
This thread will help you in understanding ROM flashing methods.
Make sure that your phone is EndeavorU not Evita
Thank you! The app says my CID is BSTAR301, do i ever get the ota update? Or the only way is to flash an stock rom?
And the other thing says if only for ICS, and i have JB, but no 4.2.2 obviously.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
No my HOX is no AT&T, and i dont thing my carrier (movistar) bought the phone from AT&T..it has to be the international versión because is a Tegra 3 ..the only thing i dont want from flashing a stock rom its Bécquer i dont want to lose my phone configurations and start all over again
Thats what i love from ota updates, you update your phone but dont lose everything and your phone stay the same but with the upgrades

Thank you very much! I wonder how I never thought of that?!?! :silly:
I happen to have their phone, imported to my country. That's why I'm asking... I figured somebody would know...
Sorry for asking, it won't happen again

I am kinda new to the HTC world, i have an Xperia S, which is rather easy to downgrade in contrast to HTC one. After upgrading my HTC One X to 4.2.2 my battery is draining very much, it is nearly unusable. So i wanted to if it is possible to downgrade without opening bootloader or S-OFF or anything.
The answer is simple - not possible.
Because HTC One X has S-On, you can't downgrade. And until now there is no safe nor official method to S-Off it.

Hi,
I am new to this HTC world and even you can say, new to Android world. I purchased HTC One X+ in india recently (so I believe it is an unlocked version, not like AT&T, verizon etc). Yesterday I got an update to Android version 4.2.2, which I did. But now want to move back to 4.1.
Please bare with me and help me out to downgrade the same. Please be simple in using terms, as I am very less experienced in using Android (hardly couple of months).
plz plz plz..... :crying:
Thanks in Advance !

Do not flash anything from this forum or follow any guides in this forum, this is for the one x only.
You need to find the forum specific to the one x+ or you will have problems
