Hi! I'm not OP, but I would also like to root my M8 so please don't mind me intruding..
I have a T-Mobile M8 on Android M (6.0), sense 7.
Is there a root available for it?
Thanks

I bought my device in germant back in the day, so i think it's European version unlocked. I add below the screen shots of the "about" section of the settings, doesn't tell me a lot

[Q] Back to the "old" Lock Screen

Hi @ all,
first you must excuse me, I'm a absolut newbie at this forum.
I used the search function but can'nt find any answer for my
request:
Yesterday I got a update for my Wildfire S from HTC.
2.3.3 was the old version - now it is 2.3.5
With the update my phone got a new lockscreen, like Sense 3.0.
But don't want to use this - it's horrible for me.
Could anyone here explain to me (step by step), how to get back the
"old" lockscreen (with the sliding control)
My phone owns the original HTC software - I don't know anything
about rooting or someting else.
Thank you in advance for your help.
You can't do that, only way would be downgrading to 2.3.3, but dunno if thats even possible.
You can also look in the market for lockscreen replacement apps to find one you like. This will be the easiest method since all other methods need root access.

I don't like this new lock screen too, but I guess I'll get used to.

Thank you - I tried a lot of lockscreen replacment alternates from the
market before I posted this - They are all only a compromise.
If it is possible I'm looking for a way to get back the original.
If I have to root my phone, I'll do it. But someone must give me a
step by step explanation.
If you are S-OFF you can try HTC Super Tool v2. Otherwise you can't root.

There are no technical problems - the "old" lockscreen is better to use.
(And... Yes, it's not my style)

Thx for your suggestion. But I didn't have success
Did anyone have another solution for my problem?
WidgetLocker from market. That has an option and you don't need to downgrade either.

[Q] Custom ROM thats as close to an OFFICIAL DeBranded as possible ??

Hi guys, I have an HTC One X thru 3 Mobile UK, and yes, its FULL of bloatware and apps I do not want or need. So, my question is, if I unlock via HTCdev, I will NOT be able to flash the OFFICIAL Generic HTC ROM (DeBranded), is this right ?? Also, if I cant, what custom ROM can I use that IS AS NEAR to the official ROM as possible ?
Many Thanks in Advance for your kind suggestions.

ARHD is almost official ROM, but most of bloatware is gone and its tweaked for performance

agreed with Putti..ARHD is the one for you mate
Yeah definitely ARHD. I'm running the new v6 release on my previously-branded 3UK handset and its fantastic. Add the menu button change and its spot on.

Is it not possible to "Custom" the stock ROM so that it will flash and it has NOTHING removed or NOTHING changed (ie Vanilla)

Getting rid of branding

Hi all,
sorry for my lack of knowledge, I'm a brand new HTC One X owner. I'd like to have the very standard software (ICS in this case) without the branding of T-Mobile. I've bought my phone in Poland (Europe Version).
Any step-by-step tutorials in here? I surely don't want to brick my new phone
not 100% sure on this but think only one way to debrand that is to unlock bootloader and root then install custom rom could be wrong tho

Well, I've got no problem with unlocking the bootloader etc. but I would like to have the normal ICS with HTC's Sense on the phone rather than some cyanogenmod or something along those lines. If anyone can help me out with the needed files and a step-by-step how-to (I'm not dumb when technology is involved, but I have absolutely no contact with the moding scene of Smartphones).

I think ARHD is meant to be pretty close to the standard sense experience. Cyanogen is a good release though, but maybe wait until its more stable on one x?

While i might instal this rom one day, I'd like to give the stock version a try. I don't want all the bull**** from t-mobile though The bootanimation alone is kinda ruining the experience for me

ARHD is a stock Rom tweaked to make it even better. you will find it much better, that is the only way to remove it, or rooting and flashing another boot animation
Easiest way I found was to unlock bootloader, root then delete all the carrier bloat you don't want and then flash a new bootanimation

Since you still opt for ICS the ARHD is the best alternative choice! Just search the thread on the XDA Developer you'll find it.
I have a T-Mob as well but flashed on CM10 for JellyBean and so far works great!

Not sure what you mean about having in app purchases?
Try this video, took me 10 seconds to find using the search function. It contains all the info you need on rooting your phone.
You should really use the search function though as there are MANY threads on rooting the One X.
Posts like these usually get deleted or closed down.

Better to have too much info than not enough though.
Just take your time and research before you attempt it. You'll find it easy after the first time. Have fun!
I had followed this thread when I first rooted my HOX.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2069904
It's pretty simple once you have read it twice!
Its very easy:
1-first you should unlock your device using htc dev.
2-installing a custom recovery. (cwm is a good choice)
3-installing superuser zip from recovery.

Question about my HTC One M8 and Android L

Hello there XDA Developers forum.
I got a HTC One M8 on contract with Three (UK) and was immediately disappointed with HTC Sense, and so, followed a YouTube guide to convert my standard HTC One M8 into a Google Play Edition HTC One M8. This guide included S-Off, and allows over the air updates. Also, the Google Play Edition ROM that the guide recommended I flash to my phone is not rooted, so the end result that I have is pretty much an exact replica of a Google Play Edition HTC One M8.
I am certain the over the air updates work, because before I "converted" my phone it was on 4.4.3, and after it was completed, a few weeks later I was promoted with an Android notification to upgrade to 4.4.4, which just worked without any problems. On the notification it even said "4.4.4 for your HTC One M8 Google Play Edition" despite my phone not actually being a "real" Google Play Edition model.
My question is, will the process be the same when Android L is released? IE, When Android L is released, will my phone get a notification like before and just be able to update like normal? Or since it's a pretty big update, will I need to flash a new ROM onto my phone? I'm hoping the over the air updates will take care of it again, but hoping someone could provide me with some info.
Thank you very much in advance everybody.

Brilliant, thank you. Do you know if i will be prompted to install the update or will I have to do it manually?
Really appreciate your help.

you'll be prompted, and depending on your setup will determine if you should follow through or not. (stock recovery, untouched sys apps, etc)
@marshedpotato - please could you provide a link to the YouTube guide you followed for conversion? Thanks.

I would not follow any YouTube guide, but the RUU guide on this forums. Don't have the link at hand though, as I'm not at my PC at the moment. Just search for it on the forums.
Following a video you'll never collect the proper knowledge of what you are doing and thus most of the time don't know how to solve a problem if one occurs.
