[Q] Static black and white noise on screen when phone boots. - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey,
I was just sitting at the computer and I look at my phone. All of a sudden it shows the bootscreen("Samsung Galaxy Note II N7100" etc).
I felt like... huh that's weird, well maybe something went wrong with Vodafone(They had problems with phones rebooting when getting the network settings for their National Alert system). After having the screen stuck at boot for like 30 seconds I took a closer look. That's when I really freaked out. All of a sudden all kinds of pixels slowly started getting all kinds of red, blue or green colors. Fast I turned off the phone(Power button didn't work even if I held it for 8 seconds). So I took out the battery. Now every time I boot my phone it gives the following screen:
Image can be found at:

Does anyone have any idea what this could be and would it be possible for me to fix it?
If not I will of course send it to Samsung.
Thanks,
Martin

Did you manage to find a fix i just ran int the same problem

[Q] White screen

So I got my Desire Z on Friday and have been LOVING it over the weekend. I got home from work today pressed the power button and the screen just faded into complete white (took about a second to go from off to faded totally to white). I took the battery out, put it back and turned the phone on. Exactly the same from boot. It seems to boot up the phone just with the screen not working. After a couple of minutes the leds flash as would be expected. Opening the keyboard clearly changes things, its clear the screen is trying to rotate. I phoned carphone warehouse and they told me to go to store with it.
Any ideas before I take it back tomorrow?

Google "white screen of death" -- this can affect different phones from several manufacturers, it seems.
One victim said he took out the battery for 12 hours then got it to boot
Thanks, I had a google around, it doesn't quite look like what a lot of people describe, I had a Powerbook G4 on which the logic board died a while back, it looks exactly like that did once it stopped working.
Even so I've removed my battery and I'll leave it until lunch tomorrow before I pop it back in.
Well I took it into store, they replaced the phone without any issue, hurrah back to a working phone. Lost all my Angry Birds and OpenSudoku progress though, booo.
2 Weeks later and my display is dead again (this was a totally new unit, it wasn't repaired). I'm sure I'm not doing anything out of the ordinary with it. Going to lose my save games again

What the...
Something else to consider -- I once lost a phone due to a bad car charger -- it was a cheap one that didn't have proper circuit protection, apparently.
In my case it just killed the phone -- no white screen or anything. I just plugged it in, then it was dead.
I also killed the screen digitizer on another phone due to static electricity -- went down a slide with my son with the phone in the pocket -- touched a metal pole and ZAP.
arabic support for desire z
my desire z is operating on 2.3.3 . build number 2.42.405.4.
emails i receive in arabic are not connected.
pls advice how to correct for this.
tq.

Random restarting and freezing [PICS ADDED]

Hi all, just want to describe some problems I've been having over the last week or so.
Basically, my Orbit suddenly developed the habit of randomly freezing and displaying wierd patterns on the screen and requiring a soft reset and also just randomly restarting.
I first noticed this about a week ago, the phone did fall out onto the driveway a few days ago but it wasn't nothing it hasn't been through before and the screen is FINE, no dead pixels nothing. This is the ROM I had on it when it first started happening: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=912989
My initial thought that it was something do with something installed on it, perhaps a software issue so I did a hard reset but same problems. I changed the ROM a few times but same problems. It's getting to the point where I have to look to buy a new phone.
It's quite difficult to describe what happens when the device freezes. I will try and get a picture or video but it's at random . The best way I can describe it is that it the device freezes, a section of the screen goes black slowly before the remaining section fades to black completely sometimes showing white lines. Moreoever, when I say the screen goes black, I don't mean that it goes off, the screen remains on but black.
Perhaps it is a hardware issue with a loose/faulty connection somewhere? My first thought was that it could be down to the screen connection but when the phone is working, the screen is absolutely normal.
Any suggestions are welcome. Please bear in mind that I've got no trouble in opening the device if needs be (had to change the LCD screen myself, I know, I know, go me! ). Thanks in advance!
Just noticed something. I've had it lying around re-filling up the inbox from a backup but as soon as I attached the charger, the problem occured, so could it be down to something from that as a result?
I've just managed to take a few pics. Theres quite a bit of glare unfortunately however this type of pattern doesn't always occur, sometimes it's less noticable than that.

hi dude,
my first thought was battery but now thinking you might have a loose connection with the motherboard and lcd.
i would check lcd ribbon that connects to motherboard first, obviously you know exacly what i meen, if that is not the problem i would buy a new battery (charge while off, do not turn on untill fully charged new battery)
if both of these do not do the trick then i would consider buying a new device. (unless anyone else has any ideas??)
thanks

[Q]FB21 heat issue

I was wondering if this isn issue from the heat or if I need to get my phone replaced. My phone got stuck when the screen turned off. I noticed it was really hot just under the camera lens on the backside. I had to do a hard boot and when the phone came up 2 things happened. I got a message saying the sd card did not have a filesystem that could be read. I noticed that instead of a status bar across the top there were now numbers with positional coordinates(best way I know to describe it). There was also a jagged blue line on the left side of the screen. Is this a heat related issue or does my phone need to be replaced. I can get into the recovery screen and it looks normal.

Sounds like you fudged it up.
Sent from my Super Sexy Epic touch.
The strange thing is that is has been fine since yesterday. Didn't install anything new.
I'd probably flash the rom again with a full wipe, if it proceeds to get hotter or act strange then flash another rom with a clean install. If you have the issue with every rom, most likely it's hardware not software. (Also try new kernels, and modems)
all the fb roms ive ran so far seemed to get hot as well

What modem are you running with that ROM?
i can feel a slight vibration on the phone when the camera is on, goes away when i turn it off. i felt the same vibration while i was downloading something from the market. when the download finished, i still had the icon indicating that i was in the middle of a download and the phone started getting hot after like 5 or 6 minutes. rebooted the phone and everything went back to normal.
im on fb21 goodness kernal/modem.

[Q] Screen Replacement Green Tint

I just replaced my screen and digitizer, fairly simple and straight forward.
On bottling up the first time with the new screen the phone powered up and was green. Looked like night vision. I powered it down, opened it back up hoping I goofed a connection. There are only two connections to make so I undid and redid. Fired back up the phone and it booted almost normal, it started green but then faded back to normal. On any subsequent display off and back on it will start green and then go normal. The longer the display is off the Longer it takes fr the green to fade away.
So my question is, did I get a bad replacement or did I good something up? I waited 3 weeks for this to come from China and at $150 I don't want to just run out and get another one.
Thoughts?

I have had the exact same thing happening to me. I have tried basically everything on the software side, going back and forth between rom/radio/kernel/bootloader with no luck. Tested the screen with a color tuner and it appears that there are no RED as of the RGB. So i have concluded this to be a faulty screen.
I am planning on doing a second screen replacement, so just hold on and i will post you with an update of how it went. Ordered the screen today, so guessing it will arrive in two weeks time.

The thing with mine is that it turns to normal after 30-40 seconds, as if it has to warm up.

Did you get this green color after a screen replacement? In my case it was a bad screen, so a new replacement did the trick.

Part of Note 10+ Screen Goes Black

This problem just started today, I've done nothing with settings, have not installed any apps recently, did not drop it, expose it to water, or anything that could possibly cause damage. What's happening is that basically about 1 inch-1 inch 1/8 of the bottom of the screen turns black, and at almost random, sometimes it could go a minute and half or so, sometimes 30 seconds, sometimes within 5 or less seconds. The strangest part? The part that goes black still operates fine to touch, so if an icon or letter of the keyboard, or whatever, is located in that area, it can still be selected/operates. Taking a screenshot to try to show it is worthless since it'll show the screen as just fine, so I attached a picture and a video of the problem from an old phone of mine. The blacked out are will go right back to normal if you turn the screen off, wait a second, and turn it back on. Also, if the blacked out area is there, it'll go away after about a half a second when the screen dims right before the screen inactivity turns the screen off. I've only had this phone for a couple months, I got it back on December 7th 2019.
I learned something else. If I manually lower the brightness to a particularly low level, the black goes away, so it seems to in some strange way be related to the phones brightness level (I use auto brightness), this also might explain why the black comes at differing intervals, as my brightness is adjusting constantly to my surroundings, the time before it comes is either shortened or lengthend based on the brightness.
It doesn't seem that strange that the touch still works in that area as the digitiser and the display are two different things. I would factory reset (because Samsung will make you do this anyway) and if still an issue, take it directly to Samsung, that does not look good.

I was just thinking I might have to do factory reset, if that doesn't work, and it needs repair/replacement, do I go to an authorized Samsung repair place (I know I have one within about a couple miles of my house), it's
obviously well within warranty, or take it to At&t store as I do have that AT&T Protect Advantage coverage for my phone?

Did the factory reset, turned out to be a waste of time. That black bar was showing immediately, right at the setup screen. So I guess it's safe to say that it's a hardware issue, defective whatever. Funny story is that when I bought this phone, my att store only had two of them left, one was immediately defective, it wouldnt get past the main logo screen, and now I got this one and it became defective within just a couple months, got to love it.

Just left AT&T store where I initially purchased the phone. They're shipping out a brand new note 10+ to me today and I'll get it tomorrow ?
Glad to hear! That definitely sounded like faulty hardware. Funny you saw two failures, I guess it will happen with such complex devices.
Note 10 plus screen goes black
Hi i thought i was crazy until i saw your thread. The same thing is happening to me but it does not go continuously so id see two red squares first theyre really small and they appear anywhere on the screen then if try to screenshot them they show upblack in the screenshots instead of red . I just need to know if anyone found a solution yet because my phone came with the warranty booklet but it wasnt filled out.

You just need the proof of purchase, or, if you got it on contract, the contract itself will suffice
