there is so much about this thread that confuses me.
I have not heard of a third Nexiii model. Samsung/Google pretty much confirmed it would only be one GSM (AT&T + TMO included) for the world and one LTE/CDMA model for Verizon.
Also, how would the LTE version be thinner and shorter than the GSM version, considering the massive LTE radio inside it (and increased storage..?).
Lastly, The thread said it was posted 6 hours after the current time. .but I got that cleared up after I logged in .. was quite a mindf*** at first lol.

well the specs for the 2 CDMA phones are from GSM arena
WIKI has the unlocked Samsung Galaxy Nexus I9250 GSM specs
Samsung themselves said at the ICS event in Hong Kong that the GSM version was going to be slightly thinner. So the specs you're finding can't be correct.
Edit: I'll just leave this here. http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/19/samsung-the-lte-version-of-the-galaxy-nexus-will-be-a-little/
Logically, the GSM version has to be thinner than the LTE.

I don't know how you got from gsmarena that there are three Galaxy Nexus models. gsmarena clearly tells you there are two, the GSM/HSPA+ model, and the I515 model that's specific to Verizon's CDMA/LTE network.
The GSM/HSPA+ model has a 1750mAh battery, weighs 135g, and has dimensions 135.5 x 67.9 x 8.9 mm.
The CDMA/LTE model is rumored to have a 1850mAh battery, is rumored to weigh 141g, and is rumored to have dimensions 135.5mm x 67.9mm x 9.34mm.

Read the descriptions of both phones their are 2 different descriptions on the 2 phones
1- Galaxy Nexus I515
2- Galaxy Nexus
OK I made a mistake it shows it's a GSM there but when I was reading the dimensions I didn't look at the GSM only LTE on both phones and they both show the same size on both phones, I wasn't looking for any CDMA or GSM only dimensions

I corrected it my my previous post because I was looking at dimensions and not looking for networks it would be on, and I seen LTE on both and just took it for granted it was another CDMA phone out there but my only interest was dimensions
Anyway they have to have that wrong because of the 2 phones hardware

OK, so if the math is right the GSM is 0.35 of an inch
and the CDMA would be 0.37 of an inch
So the SCH-I515 CDMA verizon version case's should fit if all hardware line up correctly !

Perhaps, if the rumored dimensions of the CDMA version are correct. However, that's unconfirmed at this point, it's only been reported on several Chinese websites, nowhere else.
The only way that I could see a third model is if it incorporates both HSPA+ and LTE together and launch on AT&T's new network. Of course, that means that it will probably be released much later to fully utilize AT&T's 4G network...
Just wanted to let everyone know that Bell is stating their LG Optimus LTE is actually the LG P930 Nitro HD (as per the box and the internal OS). Seems to be a bit of confusion on the 'Net. Anyone able to figure this out? Comparison??? Bell vs. AT&T
Doesn't seem to be any sort of a huge difference? Seems basically the same to me other than a few things.
Confusion?
The Optimus LTE is heavier, lacks the extra 2 GB ram, adds the 1700MHz spectrum so it is compatible with WIND, comes with only an 8GB TF SDHC card, no fm radio. some are big differences i would think?
if you go LG.com, it listed Optimus LTE p930 same as Nitro p930.
specs?
If you look, the P930 has different specs than the LTE specs listed all over the 'Net. hence why i started this [Q] to clear up the 2 models conflicting with what Bell is sending out to customers vs. AT&T's Nitro HD P930.
My original [Q] is still unanswered: Bell is handing out the Optimus LTE 4G with boxes and firmware showing it is a P930, yet the specs for the P930 are different from what they are handing out. Which is the right P930??? Bell's or AT&T's?
There ARE differences. see my previous post for them.

Sorry little off topic what the hell happened to your phones lol. some are kia and others exploded.
BOOM?!
Little off topic is true. maybe he's had bad luck or bad units or the zerglings got him?
Going off topic/the record, I have had the worse luck when it comes to phone this year.
-Atrix sorta burst into a tiny flame while charging
- 1st BB drowned, 2nd had faulty keys and the 3rd one permanently froze
- Whatever bugs/defects that were reported with the Sensation, happened to me
- The Torch and Bold basically died and wouldnt charge or turn on.
Thankfully, I have the PEP plan from Best Buy <3. Technically saved me over $3000 haha

Wow, that's interesting. I knew they had differences in software but I didn't think they had some differences in hardware too, considering that they call the Optimus LTE a Nitro HD. Does my Nitro HD have a radio/FM antenna? How does one go about using it?

Optimus LTE and LG Nitro is the same phone! both phone listed as P930 on lg.com !
optimus lacks the extra 2gb ram? on my nitro, it listed Internal storage available space 1.53GB. i not even sure nitro has 4gb to begin with.
so nitro has fm radio? the nitro never comes with headset (att is getting cheap! haha) and there is no FM app preinstalled on Nitro!
Bell vs AT&T
Check out GSMArena. They have both phones listed and they are different. One is manufactured for Bell Canada and one is manufactured for AT&T. "They are different". The AT&T model has a radio with RDS the Bell one has no radio.. The AT&T model has only the one "LTE 700" frequency. the Bell has 700 and 1700. AT&T has 4 gig but Bell only 2 gig. Bell Canada LTE is rated at 75 Mbps, AT&T 21 max. There may be other differences. Check the site for yourself and see.
I am still debating which new phone to purchase and leaning to the LG. My current phone does not have the worlds greatest battery life so not getting a full day out of the LT is not a major concern. And talking for three hours,I don't think so.

just cus it' on gsmarena, it must be accurate?
att version maxed out at 21mb? is there such a thing as LTE maxed out 21mb? haha
21mb is hspa+
I just did a speedtests on nitro and get 27mb!
not exactly reliable sources...
If your phone doesn't say "AT&T" above the screen, then you're getting the Optimus LTE. Only AT&T has the Nitro HD (name wise), and unless they're gonna bother switching out the glass/digitizer, you didn't get the nitro hd.
New Thread for Optimus LTE??
So based on each carriers website, and the manufacturer admitting they are different models, would it be out of line to start a separate thread for the LTE P930 vs. the Nitro P930 and set the naming convention to differentiate between the two models and XDA support?
Can a Mod give their input on this please??? I am just trying to clarify this before this thread gets bloated with unnecessary posts that will eventually lead to confusion and eventually blurs the line between the two models and set up some sort of clarity for future posts and support...

dude, it doesn't even matter. The Nexus S had i9023, i9020t, and i9020A and they coexist fine. The difference in radio(freq) just means you can't put out roms that changes the baseband.
don't you mean the fact the Optimus LTE has only 2GB of internal memory vs. 4GB of internal memory on the Nitro is also a large difference as well as the lack of the dual LTE frequencies vs the Nitro? or do we need to go further into the other hardware differences (ie: screens etc?)
I want to upgrade from my S2 to a new phone. I love the Nexus4, BUT, has no SD slot, and you can not even order one.
So, I was thinking on the Optimus G. Now, my question for all of you with the handset is, would you still buy it today?
One important thing for me is "hackability", meaning, I want to run clear/custom roms on it, as I do not like bloatware.
In that regard, the S2 is wonderful, and we already have JB 4.2.1 running very smoothly.
Why I'm interested on the Optimus G? As far as I understand is VERY similar to the Nexus 4, and so I assume it would be easy to have roms ported from it.
So, what are your thoughts?
As for today, thats the best phone on market, but its mid of January already, so a new/better models will come out really soon.
Thanks Tim4, for your response.
Lets forget that a new one would probably come out soon, would you still buy it considering all the I said, specially the hackability request?
Tough to say as there is currently development towards more solid bootloader and rooting options but who knows how it will all pan out. Same goes with roms, there is not a lot yet so who knows.
I am rooted and have frozen/uninstalled the apps that I don't want on the device so for me this is good enough. The phone itself is fantastic and I'm very pleased with it, even without JB. But yes, news phones like s4 and xperia z will give the g a run for it if not beat it outright, but regardless of that this phone is a beast.

Well, to put you in context, I went and bought a Razr MAXX. In brief, very poor roms support, so I sold it after 2 days.
There are too many versions for Optimus G, US has E970, Canadian has 971,973, Korean has their version, also the international version E975 might gonna come out soon. ROM development might takes longer I think. At least we gotta wait until LG release the 4.1.2 JB in order to have more JB ROMs
About the phone. I had the S II too, I loved it. I think Optimus G has even better design, and of course more powerful.
Running great on CM10.1, I believe it will be even better when LG comes out the JB source.
So, if you likes the phone, how it looks, then go for it.

I want the AT&T version E970, cause it is compatible with my country 3G bands, unless all have the same bands, or are quad band or something, or unless there is a problem with the E970 one.
You coming from the S2, do you think his battery last longer? How much longer? I'm asking cause I realized that the battery is non removable, and I'm always about 2 to 4 hours short on the S2.
Thanks!
The E973 already has a near perfect CyanogenMod 10.1 port, AOKP 4.2.1 build and of course an unlocked boot loader and can be rooted. So I'm pretty happy with this, especially since the big two are already on board. Team Nocturnal is also working on this phone.

Compare to S II, the battery on Optimus G (E971) is a lot longer. For S II, I used to bring 2 extra batteries with me just in case, but now with OG I don't need to bring my extreme battery.
I would say around 30-40% more.

Make the move bro! I went from the S2 to the AT&T Optimus G, originally i was going to upgrade to the overrated S3 or wait on the S4(but found out rumors saying screen size is 4.99inch which is too big and rocking Exynos Octa Core which i doubt we'd need and delay of how long USA would get a version) But a nice rep from AT&T store recommended the OG, and i have to say is i am blown away with the looks and performance of the device. The only deal breaker is the lack of accessories like an OEM car dock and non-removable but sooner or later everyone will transistion to non removable battery. Yes the LGOG is lacking ROM Dev, but i know that this is a fairly new device, give it a couple weeks to a few months and development will go crazy!
I never looked back, yes the S2 was a slamming device even up to now, but i needed to update and the OG is good enough rocking the first Quad Core CPU with LTE bands
This phone is simply amazing. Screen is beautiful, absolutely no lags on heavy multitasking, good battery, lte.. Even on mostly stock rom, simply the best phone to get into my hands. The screen, man.. The screen And the fluidity.. - - It is a joy to use, still looks like a (sexy, classy, sleek) phone compared to the galaxy note 2's size, exemple.
Did I mention the amazing screen, and the fluidity of animations + browsing?

I need to confirm the E971 uses the same assembly as the E970.
Anywhere I look it seems the E970 uses a complete different assembly. For instance check www.etradesupply.com, prices are different between E970 and E971, also if you check the LS970 with the E971 they also have different pricing! but you just confirmed they are the same...

Ok, it seems that the AT&T E970 is different in size and shape to the rest of the Optimus G (E971, E975, LS970, etc.)
That's probably the reason why the E971 LCD assembly will never fit on the E970, too bad!
"At 130.8 x 71.6 x 8.4 mm the AT&T branded Optimus G is slightly shorter and thinner, as well as significantly wider than its Sprint relative, which measures 131.9 x 68.9 x 8.5 mm. The two devices sport different measures
The Sprint version of the smartphone wins the weight battle with its 144.9 grams. Its AT&T sibling tips the scale at 147.1 grams."
Hola folks!
After finding enough screenshots/video reviews, I am beginning to think that from a hardware perspective the S and L variants are identical (including supported bands), whereas the K is only slightly different from S/L.
Any images of the back cover off on the K models (Olleh) will show "F400 0425 K" indicating the hardware is the "K" variant. (If you watch the review video http://www.androidcentral.com/lg-g3-review, you will notice this info up at the top on the backside, right above the camera.) UPDATE: Here is another link with an image http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2014/06/lg-g3-review-a-great-phone-with-way-too-many-pixels/#image-4
On the S/L (SK Telecom, LG U+) models, they say "F400 0423 S/L" on the SK Telecom model ("S" variant), and "F400 0425 S/L" on the LG U+ model ("L" variant). You can find images of the "S" model with engadget's review (http://www.engadget.com/gallery/lg-g3-review/2676959/#!slide=2676963), and images of the "L" model with ubreakifix's F400L teardown (http://www.ubreakifix.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/ubif-g3-21.jpg).
(Thanks and kudos to the review sites and teardown site for the images.)
As an owner of the F400S, I can tell you that all 3 variants will run on AT&T LTE (as a lot of our LTE is on Band 17 - 700 MHz spectrum). I was able to load my F400S with the TOT and DLL files of all 3 variants (currently waiting on getting it back to the "S" variant once the DLL is posted), and all 3 variants will connect to AT&T with no issues (for those of you that plan on importing like I did).
So for those of you who managed to brick your new G3, as long as you can ADB into it, you can edit your build.prop file with the corresponding korean variant model info, and load any stock image. As @wolfgart has posted a great thread with the TOTs and DLLs, I recommend swinging through there for more info. If you have a K variant, load the K TOT and DLL, and you are fine.
For those of us with S/L variants--with the above info and enough tinkering in the hidden menus of all 3 variants, I can tell you that from a hardware perspective these two models are nearly identical. From a modem/supported frequencies perspective, the S and L variants support the exact same frequencies--meaning, if you bricked your S or L version, you can restore it with an S or L TOT and DLL (after editing build.prop if needed) and you will still get all of your original hardware supported bands/frequencies. This is critical for those of you using LTE Band 5 to connect to your data... (should not be the case for any US AT&T users...).
UPDATE: in the 'Android Development' section, wolfgart's thread with the TOTs and DLLs have been updated to now include the files for all 3 models. So unless you know what you are doing with a build.prop edit, probably best to stick with what came with the phones for those who are new to this stuff.
The main difference between the S/L and K phones in frequency/band support is that LTE Band 8 is supported on the K model only, whereas you will get LTE Band 5 support on the S/L models. All other bands and frequencies (WCDMA/GSM) are the same across all 3 models. All 3 also support LTE Band 17, and will connect to AT&T in the US.
Took me a while to figure this out, but I had a long weekend
Cool! nice to know, thanks for the well explained post

Unfortunately, I don't connect to LTE with band 7 so I can't say much on that. However, just based on the hidden menus in both (I am using the L version on my S variant phone at the moment), they both have the same listings of 1,3,5,7 for supported bands.
LTE 700, 850, 1800, 2100, 2600 (Band 17, Band 5, Band 3, Band 1, and Band 7 respectively)
UMTS 850, 1900, 2100
GSM 800, 900, 1800, 1900
The above are the fully supported bands on the S and L variants.
The below are the fully supported bands on the K variant.
LTE 700, 900, 1800, 2100, 2600 (Band 17, Band 8, Band 3, Band 1, and Band 7 respectively)
UMTS 850, 1900, 2100
GSM 800, 900, 1800, 1900
I don't have the K variant on my device now, but I recall the only band difference is that it supports LTE band 8 (900 MHz) instead of LTE band 5 (850 MHz), but other supported bands are the same. LTE Band 5 is one of the primary bands for both SK Telecom and LG U+ (which partially explains why the two phones have nearly identical hardware, including modem support).
Hope this answers your question. As support for those frequencies are built in (and it makes sense on LG as a mass manufacturer--They can use the same modem and just rebrand it like they did in Korea for the S and L variants).
Why is the S one more expensive than the L?

That, my friend, is a question you will have to ask LG and SK Telecom. We sorta see that in the US every so often with "special editions" that aren't really that special and they will add an extra 100ish.
Off-contract, LG U+ is the most affordable right now, with SK Telecom right around $700 USD. With markup and shipping, etc. eBayers are selling it for $750-800.
Also, you have to remember the G3 is a hot commodity even in Korea right now. Had some friends who thought it was funny I got a phone overseas before they even bothered joining the bandwagon.
So though I can't say for sure why exactly it's more expensive, I can definitely say it has to do with the fact that the phone is still only 3 weeks old
And none of those 3 will work on T-Mobile LTE which needs 1700 and 2100Mhz most of time.
There are some spots with 900Mhz support though.
But as much as I want G3, I'll wait for the T-Mo version.
Yeah...I'm a proud owner of a Htc One M7...I have been thinking a lot and decided that it's time to change. I'm comparing the M8, the Z2, the G3 for a long time and finally think that this last one will be the one...unfortunately it's still very soon to easily find information regarding this phone online...
Your information helped me a lot...now I know exactly which variant to buy :fingers-crossed:...thank you guys very much

It looks like you are planning on doing the same upgrade I did. I still have my M7 as my backup , but definitely gotta say I am loving my G3.
That's amazing man...I've been a HTC fan since the Sensation...but currently I feel that they are been left behind...
I'm really sorry, but other brands are offering a lot more for the same price.
The HTC will always win in design and the quality of the phone's body, screen and, of course, sound!...but they are losing in the rest...UI, camera, battery life definitely...it's just sad
Nice to know that you're enjoying your G3...I hope I'll be as happy as you are in a few weeks...and judging by how much I've researched about it...I'm sure I'll love it!!!

From my research, none of the korean models (F400 S/K/L) support FM radio. Instead of an FM radio tuner, they are offered with Korea's DMB tuner, for korean DMB support.
I have only seen DMB function while in Korea and Japan. Anywhere else in the world, you will have to check with local providers, as some countries will charge for DMB as a service (just like satellite television).
Hope this helps

The only frequencies it can support is anything broadcasted as DMB. Certain countries offer DMB subscription services, but you will have to research if it is offered where you live.
In the US, DMB is unavailable so I just have a nice long antenna that people crack up at in the year 2014, but completely unusable where I am. I just tell them its for better service as a side joke lol

Any of them will do. I would say go for the one that gives you the best price. At this point, enough AT&T users have gotten their hands on all 3 variants. Most can get LTE through band 17 (700 MHz) which is available on all 3 phones.
Will the D855 variant (with LTE 700MHz) be able to use on AT&T (band class 17) or Verizon (band class 13)?
Or to be more specific, will the D855 cover all 700MHz US band class (12, 13, 14, and 17)?
Thanks!

You would have to check which specific band class of 700 MHz the D855 would be capable of connecting to. As I do not have the D855, and specs are varied on the internet right now, I cannot say for sure.
The FCC had ruled four separate band classes to operate on the 700 MHz spectrum in America--Band 17 700 MHz capable modems cannot connect to any of the other 700 MHz band classes and vice versa. (It was claimed that they did not want to have any network interference issues. Carriers purchased the rights to access certain chunks of the 700 MHz spectrum, and they are isolated to those carriers only.)
I am seeing 700MHz (B28) support on D855 models, but I believe that might be related to certain LTE-A rollouts in Europe (meaning it may not be able to connect to current 700 MHz bands in the US (as the US does not have LTE-A networks at the moment) and new band classes are issued for LTE-A (i.e. Band 28).

Does the antenna stand out much? Or is it hidden? Thanks
