Hi,
The screen of my AT&T LG E970 cracked. I can't find the replacement anywhere...
But I can find the replacement for others Optimus G, like:
LS970
E975
F180
Do you think they will work / fit?
Any help would be appreciated.
I think they are same. I just bought one ls970 screen and replaced on my E971 Rogers phone. Working well, no problem at all.

Thanks for your reply!!
I need to confirm the E971 uses the same assembly as the E970.
Anywhere I look it seems the E970 uses a complete different assembly. For instance check www.etradesupply.com, prices are different between E970 and E971, also if you check the LS970 with the E971 they also have different pricing! but you just confirmed they are the same...
Where did you bought the replacement?

Ok, it seems that the AT&T E970 is different in size and shape to the rest of the Optimus G (E971, E975, LS970, etc.)
That's probably the reason why the E971 LCD assembly will never fit on the E970, too bad!
"At 130.8 x 71.6 x 8.4 mm the AT&T branded Optimus G is slightly shorter and thinner, as well as significantly wider than its Sprint relative, which measures 131.9 x 68.9 x 8.5 mm. The two devices sport different measures
The Sprint version of the smartphone wins the weight battle with its 144.9 grams. Its AT&T sibling tips the scale at 147.1 grams."

folks this is important and could save you your phone
there is a visual similarity between the Nitro HD P930 and a very similar looking phone, the Optimus LTE LU-6200.
there have been some questions in the forum over cross compatibility on the software. currently it isn't.
if you flash the wrong software to the wrong phone this could result in a brick.
please be aware and pick the right software?
regards
Chris
Thanks for your warning.
But i guess the P930 is the canadian Bell version, i have this ROM version from day one on my korean LU6200 device and it works.
I dont flash a Nitro HD ROM to my phone, because it could be a big problem (brick).
LU6200
SU640
Nitro HD (AT&T)
P930 (Bell)
Thats the devices i know at this time.
Someone figured out how to 'hack' the SU-640 GB ROM and port it to the LU-6200. Guess what, they are both Asian SKU's. We are referring to the ICS development ROM that was leaked in Asia a week or so ago. As of right now, no one has figured out a way to get it onto a North American P930. Until that time comes, don't assume that it will work.

Hi Chris, thank you for the warning to all the users, but if I may suggest, can you also sticky this warning in the General area, since most of the discussions seems to take place there.

Canadian Optimus LTE (BELL P930) has the same name as Optimus LTE (korean version) and yet hardware is the same as NitroHD
It is similar to the SU-640, not the LU-6200.
In canada its a P935
sent from LG OPTIMUS LTE using Tapatalk
ummmm actually in Canada its a " Bell Optimus LTE P930 " to be exact..
i would know as im holding mine in my hand to confirm this
From what I am hearing there are two versions of the same phone in canada depending on the carrier...I think bell is the p930 similar to the nitro hd and the su640
I think that another carrier came out with the p935 which is the same phone essentially...but stuff enough might be different to make it not compatible with what those of us with p930's have.
interesting cuz i thought this was the only one of its kind
but hey... all i know is LG has some nice hardware in this lil package, and id love to see some CM lovin for us.. otherwise, my plans to swap over to a galaxy nexus will still take place, that is once i can afford it... this damn LG sucked out $630 before tax's as i bought it outright then another $30 for unlocking
TELUS has the P935, while Bell has the P930. They are both related to the AT&T Nitro HD but with a slightly different baseband. The LU-6200 is a different animal all together. Different bootloader, different ROM, different baseband.
Does the AT&T version have any model number to go along with it or is it just known as Nitro HD? all the other ones have some tag along

The AT&T LG Nitro HD has the model number P930
the vs920.... verizon lg spectrum.. has different partitions.. and it can be bricked by flashing any other rom.. from what ive read on other forums..
And to top that off, the VS930 is coming to verizon soon.
how about the Japanese version LG Optimus LTE l01d is this model compatible with Nitro HD roms?

No.
Are the Nitro HD P936 roms/kernels/recoveries compatible with the Optimus True HD P936?
Um...
I'm confused out the ying yang. I have the Bell LG Optimus 4G LTE, and under my battery it says P930.
Do I flash Nitro HD P930 ROMs, or LG SU640 ROMs?
Thanks.
I want to upgrade from my S2 to a new phone. I love the Nexus4, BUT, has no SD slot, and you can not even order one.
So, I was thinking on the Optimus G. Now, my question for all of you with the handset is, would you still buy it today?
One important thing for me is "hackability", meaning, I want to run clear/custom roms on it, as I do not like bloatware.
In that regard, the S2 is wonderful, and we already have JB 4.2.1 running very smoothly.
Why I'm interested on the Optimus G? As far as I understand is VERY similar to the Nexus 4, and so I assume it would be easy to have roms ported from it.
So, what are your thoughts?
As for today, thats the best phone on market, but its mid of January already, so a new/better models will come out really soon.
Thanks Tim4, for your response.
Lets forget that a new one would probably come out soon, would you still buy it considering all the I said, specially the hackability request?
Tough to say as there is currently development towards more solid bootloader and rooting options but who knows how it will all pan out. Same goes with roms, there is not a lot yet so who knows.
I am rooted and have frozen/uninstalled the apps that I don't want on the device so for me this is good enough. The phone itself is fantastic and I'm very pleased with it, even without JB. But yes, news phones like s4 and xperia z will give the g a run for it if not beat it outright, but regardless of that this phone is a beast.

Well, to put you in context, I went and bought a Razr MAXX. In brief, very poor roms support, so I sold it after 2 days.
There are too many versions for Optimus G, US has E970, Canadian has 971,973, Korean has their version, also the international version E975 might gonna come out soon. ROM development might takes longer I think. At least we gotta wait until LG release the 4.1.2 JB in order to have more JB ROMs
About the phone. I had the S II too, I loved it. I think Optimus G has even better design, and of course more powerful.
Running great on CM10.1, I believe it will be even better when LG comes out the JB source.
So, if you likes the phone, how it looks, then go for it.

I want the AT&T version E970, cause it is compatible with my country 3G bands, unless all have the same bands, or are quad band or something, or unless there is a problem with the E970 one.
You coming from the S2, do you think his battery last longer? How much longer? I'm asking cause I realized that the battery is non removable, and I'm always about 2 to 4 hours short on the S2.
Thanks!
The E973 already has a near perfect CyanogenMod 10.1 port, AOKP 4.2.1 build and of course an unlocked boot loader and can be rooted. So I'm pretty happy with this, especially since the big two are already on board. Team Nocturnal is also working on this phone.

Compare to S II, the battery on Optimus G (E971) is a lot longer. For S II, I used to bring 2 extra batteries with me just in case, but now with OG I don't need to bring my extreme battery.
I would say around 30-40% more.
On both stock and CM10.1

USA/Korea/Canada/Japan and may be AUS the only countries optimus g available in.
Btw some guy asked LG about the international version, and he was told it definitely will out in Q1

Well, I'm mostly interested on the E970 or E971 versions, as the 3G is compatible with my country, the E973 is not. How is the root/roms/etc on those?
By the way, this table is correct?
LG Optimus G E970
2G Network GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
3G Network HSDPA 850 / 1900 / 2100
4G Network LTE 700 MHz Class 17 / 1700 / 2100
LG Optimus G E971 (Rogers)
2G Network GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
3G Network HSDPA 850 / 1900 / 2100
4G Network LTE 700 / 2600
LG Optimus G E973 / LG F180
2G Network GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
3G Network HSDPA 900 / 2100
4G Network LTE ???

What would be the advantage of the international version?
The advantage is more users will use optimus g = more developers will appear here = more custom roms will be available
Make the move bro! I went from the S2 to the AT&T Optimus G, originally i was going to upgrade to the overrated S3 or wait on the S4(but found out rumors saying screen size is 4.99inch which is too big and rocking Exynos Octa Core which i doubt we'd need and delay of how long USA would get a version) But a nice rep from AT&T store recommended the OG, and i have to say is i am blown away with the looks and performance of the device. The only deal breaker is the lack of accessories like an OEM car dock and non-removable but sooner or later everyone will transistion to non removable battery. Yes the LGOG is lacking ROM Dev, but i know that this is a fairly new device, give it a couple weeks to a few months and development will go crazy!
I never looked back, yes the S2 was a slamming device even up to now, but i needed to update and the OG is good enough rocking the first Quad Core CPU with LTE bands
This phone is simply amazing. Screen is beautiful, absolutely no lags on heavy multitasking, good battery, lte.. Even on mostly stock rom, simply the best phone to get into my hands. The screen, man.. The screen And the fluidity.. - - It is a joy to use, still looks like a (sexy, classy, sleek) phone compared to the galaxy note 2's size, exemple.
Did I mention the amazing screen, and the fluidity of animations + browsing?

I like the phone very much, but the lack of root/roms makes me very nervous
I just bought 2 today. They are buy one get one free at sprint.
I'm guessing the pro is coming very soon.
I see on the At&t forum that they have a working hack to transform the Optimus G into the Nexus 4. Will it work on Canadian devices? (E971 Included)
i think it will not work.
maybe its not a good solution to convert it.
you can hard brick your phone.
They convert cause after that they can run nexus 4 roms. That is stupid cause all they need is to flash RPM/TZ from nexus 4 and they can boot nexus 4 kernel. This said, if you don't know what you are doing, don't do it. Also, converting our phone is stupid cause we can natively (supposing you didn't make the OTA) run nexus 4 kernel. There is things that doesnt work, but we have the source, that's basically how we got CM working on that phone. I'd recommand to not flash nexus 4 kernel unless you have modified the updater script. Most of the flash by partition number and not by partition name, resulting in flashing boot.img into the rpm partition of our phone. This is a permanent brick.
Would like some more feedback please. I read somewhere that there is no difference between the E971 and E970, can anyone confirm this?

Can't say for sure. However you can flash E973, E975, E977 and F180 roms on the E971 via kdz without issues. You can't do so on the E970. Someone in the AT&T section could probably explain what the difference is better. The Canadian models are 99% identical to international versions except for the fact that we have 8mp camera and they have 13mp.
