nexus models, LTE-7000, LTE, GSM - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

they all must be the same size and probably have the same hardware buttons in the same spots.
But the SG2 was different where as the mic was slightly off compared between the to phones unlocked and AT&T
Anyone know for sure because I'm trying to get a case and screen protector
or do we have to wait and see ?

there is so much about this thread that confuses me.
I have not heard of a third Nexiii model. Samsung/Google pretty much confirmed it would only be one GSM (AT&T + TMO included) for the world and one LTE/CDMA model for Verizon.
Also, how would the LTE version be thinner and shorter than the GSM version, considering the massive LTE radio inside it (and increased storage..?).
Lastly, The thread said it was posted 6 hours after the current time. .but I got that cleared up after I logged in .. was quite a mindf*** at first lol.

well the specs for the 2 CDMA phones are from GSM arena
WIKI has the unlocked Samsung Galaxy Nexus I9250 GSM specs

Samsung themselves said at the ICS event in Hong Kong that the GSM version was going to be slightly thinner. So the specs you're finding can't be correct.
Edit: I'll just leave this here. http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/19/samsung-the-lte-version-of-the-galaxy-nexus-will-be-a-little/

Logically, the GSM version has to be thinner than the LTE.

I don't know how you got from gsmarena that there are three Galaxy Nexus models. gsmarena clearly tells you there are two, the GSM/HSPA+ model, and the I515 model that's specific to Verizon's CDMA/LTE network.
The GSM/HSPA+ model has a 1750mAh battery, weighs 135g, and has dimensions 135.5 x 67.9 x 8.9 mm.
The CDMA/LTE model is rumored to have a 1850mAh battery, is rumored to weigh 141g, and is rumored to have dimensions 135.5mm x 67.9mm x 9.34mm.

Read the descriptions of both phones their are 2 different descriptions on the 2 phones
1- Galaxy Nexus I515

OK I made a mistake it shows it's a GSM there but when I was reading the dimensions I didn't look at the GSM only LTE on both phones and they both show the same size on both phones, I wasn't looking for any CDMA or GSM only dimensions

I corrected it my my previous post because I was looking at dimensions and not looking for networks it would be on, and I seen LTE on both and just took it for granted it was another CDMA phone out there but my only interest was dimensions
Anyway they have to have that wrong because of the 2 phones hardware

OK, so if the math is right the GSM is 0.35 of an inch
and the CDMA would be 0.37 of an inch
So the SCH-I515 CDMA verizon version case's should fit if all hardware line up correctly !

Perhaps, if the rumored dimensions of the CDMA version are correct. However, that's unconfirmed at this point, it's only been reported on several Chinese websites, nowhere else.

The only way that I could see a third model is if it incorporates both HSPA+ and LTE together and launch on AT&T's new network. Of course, that means that it will probably be released much later to fully utilize AT&T's 4G network...

[Info] Cheaper, better Galaxy Nexus for AT&T and T-Mobile

For those people on US GSM carriers (AT&T and T-Mobile) who can't or don't want to switch to Verizon and are waiting for or interested in a Galaxy Nexus cheaper, better than an imported GN, read on.
This purpose of this thread is to compile some data for turning a Verizon Galaxy Nexus into a working phone for GSM carriers. This thread will be updated often. The Verizon GN might turn out to be cheaper and better than importing a $700 phone if we turn a Verizon GN (dual CDMA/LTE) into a phone for GSM with some hacking and tinkering.
Think about it. So far, the main differences between the international and Verizon GN are:
International Galaxy Nexus
GSM/HSPA+
16GB storage
1750 mHz battery
slightly thinner than Verizon GN
$700 (imported, unlocked)
Verizon Galaxy Nexus
CDMA/LTE
32GB storage
1850 mHz battery
slightly bulkier than GSM GN
$199 (2-year contract, data, rumored)
Overall, the Verizon GN appeals more because of the bigger storage (which is better because of the lack of SD card or USB mass storage support), 1850 mHz battery (more juice), and LTE (which you can always turn off by rooting if you don't like the battery drain).
Ultimately, if we can early terminate the Verizon contract and fully unlock the Verizon GN with some hacking and tinkering, we may be able to get a cheaper, better, fully functional 32GB, LTE supporting Galaxy Nexus for the people on GSM carriers.
All we need to confirm is if the Verizon Galaxy Nexus has the hardware that can support the GSM bands. Google and Samsung have said that all Galaxy Nexus variants are penta-band (which might mean support for GSM in the Verizon GN).
Questions that are already answered:
1. Does the Verizon Galaxy Nexus have a SIM-card slot?
Yes, it does. See here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iPzoSgTYxc4
The regular SIM can be resized and works in a micro SIM slot. See here:
http://www.engadget.com/2010/07/09/how-to-resize-your-sim-and-drink-the-sweet-nectar-of-mobile-fre/
Questions that need answering:
1. Can you use a GSM sim card in a Verizon GN (dual CDMA/LTE)?

I'm not sure that the Verizon variant of the Galaxy Nexus even has a sim-card slot. It's my understanding that CDMA phones usually do not. It wouldn't make any sense for Verizon to put one in their phones.
Sim card slot is present. See here:

It has a SIM card for the LTE radio. It has NO GSM radio, it has a CDMA radio (it's not a "worldphone" containing a GSM AND a CDMA radio). It won't operate on a GSM network without a GSM radio.
At best you'll be able to get AT&T's LTE service in the 5 cities that it's live in. I don't know off hand if AT&T does voice over LTE. If they don't you won't get any voice service even in LTE areas.

Well this is nothing new for Verizon users. Most people don't travel internationally often, so no big deal. Just pick up a cheap $30 prepaid cell if you go.
Why can't phones made to just work on all carriers? CDMA + GSM Penta-Band. I know some phones have CDMA and GSM (for international on Verizon)... why not just do it right and make it available globally at the same time. Then carriers can subsidy it or not... but it would reduce people from buying on a carrier's subsidy, paying an ETF, and leaving.

It is only going to work on a CDMA network and what the chart means that it is global on any international network that supports CDMA (which there are many that I cannot think of off the top of my head).

Galaxy Nexus variants

I was under the impression that there is only two versions of the galaxy nexus available: LTE and HSDPA. Telus and Rogers recently released their own devices and I was expecting to be all the same, but sources say that it's different. Telus galaxy nexus is not a penta, but quad and has the size of the nexus s.
Surely that is a typo?
Yes it is a typo
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
There are two physical variations:
HSPA/GSM Pentaband - Smaller thickness and battery (1750)
LTE/CDMA - Thicker and 1850 mah battery
There are, however, multiple different software variations. Some phones shipped with Google supported OS (yakju) and some with a Samsung variant (yakju**)
Aside from the thickness on LTE, all SGN phones are the same shape.

[Q] Global phone?

I am thinking about getting a nexus and would like a gsm phone that would work with my pre-paid t-moble and att sim. Occasionaly I do have to go to Europe and would prefere a phone that would be compatible with their radio bands as well. I found one on Amazon "Samsung Galaxy Nexus SA-I9250 Unlocked Phone--International Version" do you think this would trully be international or ?
Yes. That is GSM. GSM is global. Buy that model.
ANY i9250 is "global" because it is unlocked GSM. Just don't buy the Verizon (i515) model.
The gsm nexus truly is as global as can be. It works on all 3g networks including tmo usa and att. Its the ultimate gsm compatible phone.
Samsung Galaxy Nexus SA-I9250 I understand this phone has no SD slot. Is it actualy 16gb or 32gb? and it has no 4g radio, just 3g radios? Will most of the i515 accessories work with it?

There is no 4G LTE radio. There are EDGE/UMTS/HSPA+ radios. HSPA+ is sometimes called "4G" depending on the carrier. But it only has an HSPA+ 21mbps radio. So no matter what they call it, that's the fastest it'll go.

Screen protectors are interchangeable. Most cases fit fine too (be sure to check reviews, though). Extended batteries and covers are not interchangeable. Of course chargers are, as micro USB is a standard.

Does the Nexus HSPA require a unique case or..

Can i use any nexus case. Ordered yesterday, shipped today.
There are now 3 variants of the Galaxy Nexus. The case could be designed for one of 3 kinds: GSM i9250 | Verizon i515 | Sprint Galaxy Nexus.
You should double check with the vendor to make sure you bought the one for the GSM variant.

Sprint & Verizon are the same dimensions. A lot of Verizon cases are compatible w/ the Sprint version.
I got just a generic Galaxy Nexus case for my Sprint one, and it fits perfectly, so I would think that they're all the same. Unless you have an extended battery, but that's clearly different.

Differacne between differant models of galaxy nexus

Hi
So i am looking to buy a samsung galaxy nexus to buy a samsung glaxy nexus. I am just going to be using it has a ipod touch of sorts so it will probably never be activated. But i want the galaxy nexus becasue it gets the updates from google so freaking fast. But i have a question. Looking on ebay i see different model numbers like sch-i515, sph-i700, gt-i9250, gt-i9250m, and gt-i9020a. What is the differance between these models? Do they all get the fast and rapid updates from google...like getting jellybean days after it was announced. Do they all have the same specs?
Thanks

Which should make it clear that it works on all 200 world-wide GSM carriers. The gt-i9250m is only a marketing trick so price matching doesn't work. gt-i9020a is a Samsung device from the At&t carrier that ran Android 2.3 not sure what device.

Thanks
Honestly if your not going to activate it and use it ad a music player get a Nexus S. The audio hardware on it is worlds ahead of the crap the Galaxy Nexus has, plus you'll save some money

GT-I9250 works on UMTS900, GT-I9250M doesn't (also network infrastructure dependent, logical that the radio could be different, I'm not sure), everything else is the same. This is why we say GT-I9250 is pentaband, adding the other four: 850, 1700, 1900 and 2100.

I got the i9250m from Google Play. Does the Pentaband difference affect download speed?

What is not really correct other than "I9250" is not the complete model number? gt-i9250 is the Google GSM model as I stated in my first post. Which should make it clear that it works on all 200 world-wide GSM carriers. The gt-i9250m is only a marketing trick so price matching doesn't work. gt-i9020a is a Samsung device from the At&t carrier that ran Android 2.3 not sure what device.
Hope this is stupid proof. Sorry my first post was vague.

there's also the gt-i9250T for Australia (not sure where else), they've just come off 4.04 on some networks here i think for those sticking with OTA
GT-I9250M has UMTS900

Not accurate. As noted in several other threads here and other reliable sites see gsmarena or pdadb.net the GT-I9250M has UMTS900.

GSM Arena currently reports I9250M as NOT including HSDPA 900, whereas it reports that I9250 does. So what's the deal, does the I9250M support it or not?
When I replied to this thread months ago, on gsmarena, 9250M did not have pentaband. Show me one post where the device is connected to 900mhz freq.

I don't know for sure where he had it shipped to, but would the Google Play store have shipped I9250M models to US addresses? If so, were all the phones they shipped to US addresses I9250M, or some were I9250?
@beekay201, do you have an I9250? Would you mind looking underneath your battery for the exact model number (and part number if present) on your phone? I'm trying to figure out if there's really any difference between I9250 and I9250M, and if so, how to identify exactly what model a phone for sale is. I think a lot of people use I9250 to describe I9250M phones they're selling, and I've even heard of people getting a phone / manual set with mismatched model numbers.
