Question about cracked screen/glass

My friend dropped his SGS3 a while ago and the screen cracked from one of the top corners. Now I know if it's just the glass, the repair cost isn't really high. But how do you know if it's just the outer glass that's cracked or the actual screen as well? If the screen still works (responds to touch) etc, does it mean its just the outer glass?

Click to collapse
If everything else works fine (touch, colors, no leak and such) then chances are the it's only the outer glass. Although, opening it would confirm it.

Weird thing i notice about the camera lens

I have an s4 it feel like there is tape around the ring of the camera lens but not covering the center of the lens... my question is it on your guys s4 also i can rub my finger over the camera and hear like a tape noise. I tired to take it off but no luck and i dont want to scratch the lens ???? so does any one else notice this? i can try and take a pic to show you guys. The only reason i notice was because little bit of dust or dirt got on it so its little bit noticeable
Ps kinda looks like a little screen protector/ glass protection for the central lens
Yup its kinda of a protector for the lense.. i took it right off and no scratches.

If you keep it on, eventually, crap gets under it and it gets annoying.

Posted a picture of this weeks ago, yes it is a sticker that covers the lens. Havent taken mine off, it doesnt effect the battery and it protects the lens

It scatters a bit of light so images are slightly worse.
Not usually a problem and if you want to remove it, use a piece of clear tape (scotch tape isn't sticky enough)

[Q] Home button replacement

Got my hands on a S3 with a broken screen and a really scratched up home button, and I'd like to replace both I've done a glass replacement, and I noticed the actual home button was held in with some rubbery clips. I wasn't sure if the home button was attached to some sort of flex cable,
so I decided to leave it alone instead of taking the risk.
So can the home button be replaced without the flex cable?
Thank you!

Broken LCD or Digitizer?

Hey guys,
I tried searching through the forum but has not found any solutions to my specific case. I dropped my phone earlier today and it resulted in no physical damage on the screen but the touch screen does not respond and shows up fragmented/ or remain blank. So I have a few questions:
1. Is the LCD broken or the digitizer? and to replace it which one could I buy and has anyone attempted it? could one of you send me a link to what should be bought?
2. the phone is one month old, could I claim warranty on it as the screen is in perfect condition and no physical damage at all on the body aside from a few light scratches.
3. If all else fail what way do I have of wiping the phone clean? (it is stock rooted)
Thanks!!!
