is the cm9 buggy ?
what are the non working things in cm9 of p930 ?
thanks...
CM9 works very well. I will never revert to the stock rom. As of today, the only bug that is an issue to me is that Google play store loses connection for some reason, but it reconnects after a few seconds. Also, the compass on the phone is faulty, probably due to hardware issues...
Also, lg and att are releasing "official" ics for the phone sometime over the summer.

so are there any camcorder or video playback issues or any other issue than you mentioned ?
It's 2012, get the HD phone! CM9 and Nitro HD = Amazing. I don't have any issues with CM9. Only thing that needs to be improved is battery life. Waiting on custom kernals for that..

btw how much is the battery life on cm9 ?
Direct comparison by specs:
http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=4302&idPhone2=4329
Going Nitro:
+ Bigger battery
+ Higher screen rez
+ Faster CPU (1.2GHz vs. 1.5GHz)
+ Higher color density (256k vs. 16mil colors)
+ Gyro
Issues with CM9 (from my own use):
* Bugged 1080p video capture (720p works fine)
* Frequent app quits (Only on initial start, if the app runs, it runs fine)
* High battery drain (But it's getting better and better with just about every nightly)
* Some radio (4G/LTE/Wifi) instabilities (they are few and fleeting)
To specifically address what you're considering:
hardware (mainly for gaming and videos)
It's dual-core 1.5GHz with a 1280x720 (16mil) screen. You'll be playing the lovely HD games and the HD videos will look ridiculously good...The Vivid is non-HD and only 256k colors
custom roms (ics mainly )
If CM9 is your ROM flavor of choice, then Nitro has it covered...If you're looking for a bigger "pond" to fish from then the Nitro custom ROM Dev community is going to be smaller and therefore less options.
battery life
Let's be honest, the battery life of the Nitro is straight up sub-par. Attribute this to the high-rez screen and LTE radio. Debloating and using tools like SetCPU are musts for this phone.
build quality
I had the Nexus One previously and I bought the Moto RAZR for my Wife...In comparison I consider the Nitro to be at the same level in terms of fit and finish.

thanks for the clear explanation sir !!
you cleared everything !
if you are not too much worry about battery, go for Nitro.
even you can buy after market extra long life battery.
other then this, Nitro stands out ... especially stunning IPS true HD screen.
sorry to piggyback this thread, but I'm in the same boat as the OP. I'm going to purchase a LG Nitro, but before I do, I want to know if I should perform the carrier unlock first, or should I root and install a custom rom first and then perform the carrier unlock. I read in an older thread about having to re-enter the code after flashing the the flashband or something along those lines.
@adca14,
I performed a carrier unlock on stock rom and have flashed almost every rom there is for this phone (except CM9 slim and AOKP). I've never had to re-enter my unlock code and I've even upgraded to the latest AT&T baseband in that small 20mb update. You have nothing to lose by carrier unlocking on the stock rom immediately when you get the phone. In fact, I don't even know if you can get into the unlock menu on CM9.
So far, I just got the nitro HD. My father has a vivid, and now honestly regrets replacing his old iPhone 3GS with it. Don't get the Vivid. Battery life is barely half a day with only one email account (just leaving it alone will drain the battery down by night). Device is searing hot on its metal back and ICS update has borked most of the HTC widgets, among other items (small consolation is chrome beta now has desktop view mode).
While I don't expect the battery life on my Nitro to be any better, at least it has a nice 720p IPS panel (good for Kindle).

Well on stock rom you don't really need more battery compare to cm9 that is very power hungry. If bigger battery last only one year for 15$ on ebay, why i would not take that benefit...
I bought this game recently on sale and installed on my brand-new Nexus 7 (32GB with 3G). However, graphics seems blurred - like it was set for low quality, or prepared to run on lower resolution. That's strange, because all menus and main menu are normal. The problem is that there is no graphics settings in NFS. Is there any possibility of changing graphics to sharp? I'm running CyanogenMod 10.1 nightlies. On my Galaxy S3 (CyanogenMod 10) everything is OK - smooth with sharp edges.
Was thinking about purchasing it today but I'm not if this a reoccurring problem for people. Has this happened to anyone else?

What kernel are you running?
Try metalice A25 with the GPU clock at 666. Should fix it.

I'm not having any issues. I've heard people having issues with non-stock kernels with this game. That may be your problem.
I didn't install any custom kernel, it's running on CM one (screenshot attached). I prefer original CM kernel to custom ones. I'll try tweaking settings in performance tab.
EDIT: Nothing interesting in performance settings.
Yea I remember reading it has something g to do with the higher CPU max on custom kernels that makes the graphics like that.. I've only been able to have it right on bone stock from google even on stock cm I had the issue

But in CM kernel doesn't have overclocked frequencies, max one is 1300. What's more, cars in garage and before race are showed in full quality, nice and with sharp edges. After starting the race graphic becomes blurry.
No problems for me, it's always ran smooth. Running PA2.50 w/ franco.Kernel r25. No overclocked CPU or GPU

AFAIK, there is no franco kernel for 3G version and I doubt that version for non-cellular Nexus works with cellular one. Anyone knows what can be done to increase quality without changing ROM (CM 10.1) and kernel?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk HD
I downloaded it the other day but I've yet to play the game on mine. I use AOKP with the stock kernel, so hopefully I don't have these problems.
I just hate how it uses 2GB of space when the description only says it needs 550MB!
Hi everyone! happy LGOG user here
Just trying to take a look if we have the same benchmark scores, I own the asian version which is E975, I know that there are E970, E973 etc. :cyclops:
Mine is:
Antutu = 5170
Average frames per second = 21.1
Best frames per second = 34.2
Quadrant = 7425
Do we have same score?
Video I did from my benchmark test http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NJnNXLlBbuk
Lol,why would want to compare?benchmarks are irrelevant.you may have a phone with off the chart results in benchmarks, but moving like crap on daily basics or you can have a phone running smooth,no hickups, freezes with low scores in syntethic tests.
Anyway,your scores are veeeeery low.
With stock,i get 22-24k in antutu,12-14k in quadrant and 60fps on nenamark2.
Sent from LG E975 pwd by CM 10.1
I get 11609 in 3dmark, 20893 in Antutu and 2264 in geekbench
my auntutu
Auntutu score is 21949
Guys how did you get that scores?
My score is 18 k in Antutu with stock rom.
17,5-18k in antutu :/
Stock rom will get you no more that 18k, smoocha kernel + rootbox + right governor will get you up to 22-23к.

Hi, i've got some questions about e975.
1. I an looking for a kernel with oc option.
2. And would be good if this one or anything could minimize throttling issue. If not, i would only want to know how to fix throttling.
3. How big is the difference beetween 4.2 and 4.3 roms in performance.
4. Is 4.3 roms drains battery faster?
5. Does 4.3 roms has an effect on throttling and overheating?

1. Why do you need oc ?i said it many times, doing oc on this cpu is like adding 10 bhp to a 600bhp engine. The improvements are almost 0. If you want to score big in tests, you are in the wrong forum.
2. No throttle or overheating. Besides,if you want oc,won't that be another heating source?so,you must make up your mind.what do you really want?oc or a cool cpu?
3. If you mean by performance benchmark results, again, you are in the wrong forum.
4. Depends. You do realise both 4.2 and 4.3 are UNOFFICIAL builds,so the drain, compared to stock is a litle higher. This is also relative to every phone/user. If you have 2-3 email accounts, with push notifications, use 3g/4g connection 24/7 on a weak signal area, gps on,autosync on,not to mention what apps/services are runing in the background....well...buy yourself a mini nuclear plant.you will need it.again,non-sense question. We don't know how you use your phone...
5. Don't know what phone you have, but,at least on mine and my friends phone, throttle and overheat are urban myths. Amd most of us are power users, not newbies regarding smartphones. The phone behaves as it should, even on stock.no abnormal, paranormal activity with the cpu,as we constantly monitor it. Same with heating. The g is one cool device.

* 1.You're right, there's no serious reason to oc Optimus G, i had an old routing from single core snapdragons (there overclocking from 1ghz to 1,4ghz gave an pretty big effect in apps).
* 2.Ok, if my phone will have 1,5 ghz if there will be a necessity (gaming) i don't have to oc it. (My problem is that I am poweruser too (i have e975 not so long) and i have a cm 10.1 based rom, but i still have overheating and throttling issues, (that is cpu slows down to 1,1ghz so i've got non-smooth gaming). After about 15 minutes G gets insanely hot. I heard about the same problem in Nexus 4, but in that case there were sth like a patch, which reduces heating effect.
* 3.I mean performance in demanding games (like Asphalt 8 etc.)
* 5.I've got a E-975 (European Version of Optimus G).
1 have the e975 since march. never encountered the slightest issue in games. and i play alot of games(rr3,asphalt series, modern combat series, nova series, shadowgun, galaxy on fire, you name it). you do realise G is top hardware, right? And the asphalt series is not so demanding. It's working fluid on my gf's arc s.
about the throttle,if you are a power user, you know this is a rare thing, and it happens if you make a dirty flash. when you do the things by the book, the phone flies. same with the heating. my old s2 was hotter than the g when i play games.again, measured with proffesional tool, not by hand.sometimes the s2 was over 57 degrees.with e975, after playing modern combat 4 for about 40 minutes, it never got over 50. not to mention i'm using a silicon case.

I never do dirty flash, I always do a full wipe (because i flash a new version of rom when the changes are major).
LOL, so you said that asphalt series are not so demanding? Asphalt 8 Airborne: doesn't even work perfectly fluid even on Medium quality, on High i have very unstable framerate (12-28 fps). I thought that temp nearly 48 Celsius degrees is very high, I afraid that my screen will broke because of temperature.
Is your Optimus G is underclocked to 1,1 ghz? If not , does it works always on 1,5ghz when it's necesary?
EDIT:
Whoa! I've flashed 4.3 rom (Mokee OS), and now Asphalt 8 works fluid on high,no framerate decreasing, i was playing for 10 minutes and phone isn't so hot. It's on a kernel attached to rom.
Guys, the G has cpu temperature sensor? Sell mine and forget to look at it. You can check with android Tuner, on cpu tab. Pay attention, I'm not talking about battery temperature.
hey guys!
after 2 years with the great lg optimus 2x i decided to buy a lg optimus g.
all i can say after 1 month of usage is, that it is a great phone with awesome battery life.
but can i make it a better phone with even better battery life?
i usually have 2,7h screen on time until the battery goes to sleep.
i underclocked it to 1 ghz with eco mode on
can i get a better battery life if i change to a custom rom like PA and kite kernel?
(PA increased the battery life of my 2x enormously)
thanks for your answers

You can't compare an optimized stock rom with a custom made out of scratch.

There are scripts available for battery but i dont think it will give a big boost to battery.. Use greenify, turn off sync, use wifi instead of 3g, lower screen timeout, lower capacitive light timeout, lower brightness etc etc etc

The best solution is to charge the phone, then turn it off and leave it like that. The battery will last for 2 weeks. Come on guys,it's a heavy duty device. It's supposed to be used. I usually get 4-5hrs of screen time, but i charge it every evening.

KitKat has greatly improved my battery life. So there's hope for custom roms.
LiquidSmooth
I have been running LiquidSmooth for E973 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2526087) since November 12. It has not had a single force close or reboot or instability in that time. I side loaded the google experience launcher and am running the new launcher on 4.3.1. This has exceptional battery life and stability, light years beyond any other custom rom for E973 (though I haven't tried Omni since 11/11).
I recommend giving LiquidSmooth a try if you are having battery issues! KitKat was killing my battery life, but I'm loving this rom.

I just checked my perf monitor, and on LiquidSmooth, which is giving me battery life as good or better than stock 4.1.2, my phone is running Deep Sleep 66% of time, 384 MHz 25% of time, 1512 MHz 5% of time, and 1026 MHz 2% of the time. I will definitely check out what you are saying the next time I flash Chad's Omni build for E973. I wonder if the kernel also has a very low clock rate when the screen is off: the Bluetooth and screen issues I had may be explained by a very low CPU speed when the screen was off (music on my bluetooth headset was very skippy, with intermittent semi-second pauses, always delays but not drops of time). Thanks for sharing the possible source of poor battery life on the Omni build.
