Hi, i've got some questions about e975.
1. I an looking for a kernel with oc option.
2. And would be good if this one or anything could minimize throttling issue. If not, i would only want to know how to fix throttling.
3. How big is the difference beetween 4.2 and 4.3 roms in performance.
4. Is 4.3 roms drains battery faster?
5. Does 4.3 roms has an effect on throttling and overheating?

1. Why do you need oc ?i said it many times, doing oc on this cpu is like adding 10 bhp to a 600bhp engine. The improvements are almost 0. If you want to score big in tests, you are in the wrong forum.
2. No throttle or overheating. Besides,if you want oc,won't that be another heating source?so,you must make up your mind.what do you really want?oc or a cool cpu?
3. If you mean by performance benchmark results, again, you are in the wrong forum.
4. Depends. You do realise both 4.2 and 4.3 are UNOFFICIAL builds,so the drain, compared to stock is a litle higher. This is also relative to every phone/user. If you have 2-3 email accounts, with push notifications, use 3g/4g connection 24/7 on a weak signal area, gps on,autosync on,not to mention what apps/services are runing in the background....well...buy yourself a mini nuclear plant.you will need it.again,non-sense question. We don't know how you use your phone...
5. Don't know what phone you have, but,at least on mine and my friends phone, throttle and overheat are urban myths. Amd most of us are power users, not newbies regarding smartphones. The phone behaves as it should, even on stock.no abnormal, paranormal activity with the cpu,as we constantly monitor it. Same with heating. The g is one cool device.

* 1.You're right, there's no serious reason to oc Optimus G, i had an old routing from single core snapdragons (there overclocking from 1ghz to 1,4ghz gave an pretty big effect in apps).
* 2.Ok, if my phone will have 1,5 ghz if there will be a necessity (gaming) i don't have to oc it. (My problem is that I am poweruser too (i have e975 not so long) and i have a cm 10.1 based rom, but i still have overheating and throttling issues, (that is cpu slows down to 1,1ghz so i've got non-smooth gaming). After about 15 minutes G gets insanely hot. I heard about the same problem in Nexus 4, but in that case there were sth like a patch, which reduces heating effect.
* 3.I mean performance in demanding games (like Asphalt 8 etc.)
* 5.I've got a E-975 (European Version of Optimus G).
1 have the e975 since march. never encountered the slightest issue in games. and i play alot of games(rr3,asphalt series, modern combat series, nova series, shadowgun, galaxy on fire, you name it). you do realise G is top hardware, right? And the asphalt series is not so demanding. It's working fluid on my gf's arc s.
about the throttle,if you are a power user, you know this is a rare thing, and it happens if you make a dirty flash. when you do the things by the book, the phone flies. same with the heating. my old s2 was hotter than the g when i play games.again, measured with proffesional tool, not by hand.sometimes the s2 was over 57 degrees.with e975, after playing modern combat 4 for about 40 minutes, it never got over 50. not to mention i'm using a silicon case.

I never do dirty flash, I always do a full wipe (because i flash a new version of rom when the changes are major).
LOL, so you said that asphalt series are not so demanding? Asphalt 8 Airborne: doesn't even work perfectly fluid even on Medium quality, on High i have very unstable framerate (12-28 fps). I thought that temp nearly 48 Celsius degrees is very high, I afraid that my screen will broke because of temperature.
Is your Optimus G is underclocked to 1,1 ghz? If not , does it works always on 1,5ghz when it's necesary?
EDIT:
Whoa! I've flashed 4.3 rom (Mokee OS), and now Asphalt 8 works fluid on high,no framerate decreasing, i was playing for 10 minutes and phone isn't so hot. It's on a kernel attached to rom.
Guys, the G has cpu temperature sensor? Sell mine and forget to look at it. You can check with android Tuner, on cpu tab. Pay attention, I'm not talking about battery temperature.

Hello everyone.
I am looking for a relative best rom and kernel combination for daily use which focus on heating and battery life.
I’ve tried AOKP38 with franco185 and did't change the setting of CPU model. The temperature raised to almost 50 degree. I only open the instrgram and twitter for 10min.
I also tried the slim4.0. The heating is much better than B38 with franco. But battery life seems not good.
Wound you mind recommending the best rom and kernel combination you have ever used?
Thanks! Sorry for my bad English.
I too will like to know. I will be watching this thread very closely.
After browsing through many threads where talk regarding heating issues take place, I'd say underclocking are undervolting are your best bet.
If you don't play any 3D games or do anything that requires some real juice from your CPU, I'd say you'd be fine with underclocking to like 1036 MHz and maybe do some slight undervolting.
If you only want do to the underclocking part, and if you got heating issues with Franco, then try Morfic's trinity kernel.

185 seems to have quite a few problems (see Franco's thread). I jumped ship onto the 181 kernel - wireless tethering (encrypted) works, the GPU is fast enough, and it doesn't seem to overheat. I don't use the kernel for benchmarking (although..... ) but rather, to improve the GPU performance.
And I'm on stock ICS, not AOKP.

I only pay the Temple run sometimes. Does this game require a high CPU?
And how about the battery life on your nexus? The screen on time? 2H?

How about the battery life on stock ICS?
I changed the franco nightly to milestone4 and now heating is gone, even play Modern Combat 3 us no problem. AOKP with milestone 4 is best for me bro! ;-)

I've been underclocked to 1036MHz for a while now and I've never had and problems running any games. NOVA 3 and similar games runs great. The only issues I've had are when I get a call or SMS. Then my phone starts to lag, but eventually picks itself back up.
Every device is different. What works great for someone probably won't work great for you. You have to try them all to see what suites your phone the best.
There are already many threads discussing this, please use an already established thread instead of creating a new one.

Hi
Hope you are all doing well. I am coming from Optimus 3D and I was moving to S3 until I saw this device. In my country it is only available used (Korean F180 versions ~300$). I have read lots of posts and reviews and I was confused due to heating issue. Firstly is this even a issue, if yes how to check if it exist in the mobile. The sellers here have Gs in factory reset condition and not allowing me to install any game or benchmark(kind of selling in as in condition) I do realize that the mobile was constantly changing brightness even when I was just scrolling and checking camera etc(unable to brighten...). Cut short what do I need to check in approx 1/2 an hour. Thanks for your time
When I first got the phone and was running stock, unrooted, I would get the "unable to brighten due to temperature" message pretty often, but it never caused any problems other than a minor annoyance. Since rooting & running custom ROMs I've always had the screen at maximum brightness, and while it does get warm after heavy use, I've never had any problems with it.

Check this out. On the Korean phone it may be different, but I bet the same menus exist somewhere.
I'm guessing that since you live outside of America that you have the E975 model. The screen dimming and processor throttling is done to avoid overheating. You can disable it without any problems.Go to the dialer and enter 3845#*975# . It will take you to the hidden menu. Scroll all the way down to "Thermal Daemon Mitigation Off". It should be set to off by default. Switch it to on. This will stop the processor throttling and screen dimming.
thanks guys I bought it
If u set ur kernel tweaks on trickster mod then u will never get any over heating... Maybe a little warm but not overheat. When I first bought this phone I was experiencing bad overheating and that was every time I use the phone. Then I downloaded trickster mod and set the I/o scheduler and gov etc... And I never experienced overheating and my battery life went threw the roof!! And custom kernels help a lot as well.

Hello everyone! I am very, very happy because i bought a Nexus 7 2013 a week ago. That same night I got home from the shop I knew it was getting root permissions. So i did the rooting method with WugFreshes toolkit and it worked like a dream I must admit. TWRP and Superuser installed in a flash.
After root permissions the fun started - Custom Rom's, Mods, Tweaks you name it. I am currently using Stock Kitkat 4.4 ROM with many tweaks:
PureGraphic HD
PurePeformances
AwesomeBeats
PureAudio
I have the Franco Kernel and it's great. I have had no issues what so ever so far. It's smooth, fast and responsive. Games run extraordinary fast, I can amp up the graphics without to much frame drops, this includes games like GTA SA, GTA VC, Modern Combat 4 and N64/PS1 Emulators (and yes i own the roms :highfive. Back to the Kernel. All Wireless adapters are working (bluetooth, wifi, nfc etc), and wifi seems faster. Battery doesn't drain very fast at all, even with intensive load. But here is where my question actually is ...
I do understand that this question has been answered somewhere else in the Nexus 7 2013 forum, however can someone tell me my question in more detail? Thanks. :good:
Q. My question is, between what cpu temperatures is safe for my nexus 7 2013 to play intensive games at (etc emualtors, gta series, MC4)? What temperatures should i be alerted at. I am currently running GTA Sandreas and emulators at around 50-65 Degrese celcius (yes that's right celcius us auzzies use the metric system :silly: . )
Also if i overclocked it to 1.7GHZ then what would a stable temp be while idling and heavy load? (thanks!)
(last minute edit... Also what CPU is really used in this? People say it's an undercloked s4 pro or something? So if overcloked back to 1.7GHZ it'll be fine? Right?...)
Other information consist of:
.All the mods i said i have, stated earlier
.Franco Kernal
.Wireless devices faster tweaks
.Use 4x MSSA
.Warn at 65 Degrees Celcius
.Other small mods i can not think of...
.Stock GPU & CPU clock speeds
If anyone can ask my question A.S.A.P it would be greatly appreciated, i am currently new to XDA but not the the Android OS. And to all of you whom think Android is a terrible OS go get one of the most biggest fails since Apple Newton the iPad.
P.S The XDA forums is great, and everyone on here deserves a good old beer. If this thread violates any T&C please go right ahead and delete it. Thanks so much,

I personally wouldn't worry about cpu temp that much. All the developers of custom kernels will set the thermal limits to whatever they think is appropriate. A much bigger concern than the cpu temp is heat being conducted to the battery. I would make a point of keeping the battery below 120F and I personally don't want to see over 110F (around 45C).

The overlay thing I was talking about earlier was the cause for that cpu temp, it used like 2 entire cores to function, without it, temps are more stable, can you believe that the tablet actually kinda burned my fingers if I pressed too hard? That's insane.
Now, I understand that the battery's temperature is something important, so you don't ruin your battery lifespan, but how come cpu temps don't matter as much as battery's does? What's the max temp for these devices?

I'm going to "guess" and say somewhere around 100C for the cpu. Just a guess. 60C for the battery would absolutely be bad news. 50C would make me nervous. Also the cpu will start to get throttled (underclocked) once it gets up to a certain temp, And once it reaches the max temp the cpu will get shut down and you will have to wait for it to cool down before it will boot back up. I would worry about the heat affecting the motherboard and the components on that before I would worry about heat damaging the cpu.

Theorically speaking, the safe working temperatures would be the where the thermal limit is which is around 105ºC.
However, it doesn't work like this because heat spreads to other components and more importantly, it spreads to the battery and we all know batteries don't like hot temperatures since it drastically reduces their life span and charge capability.
On practice, I would say keeping your CPU below 70ºC which will result in a colder battery aswell is the sweet spot.
On the Overclock matter, I have mine at 1900'ish Mhz and my GPU is at 490'ish Mhz and I haven't experienced any abnormal temperatures while runing benchmarks. Infact, the temps were kept below 50ºC which is more than fine.

I think the battery burns like hell when you're playing and charging it at the same time, am I right? I wonder, if the cpu and gpu are underload, the battery will drain quickly, does this mean that this produces more heat to the battery? How does that work.

Hello all.
I was thinking if anyone here had a problem like mine or knows what to do.
I bought a LG G4 dual sim 818p last week.
the phone is great, but it has some problem that i think is software related, and i think is governor problem.
It has the latest android version avaible, original from lg.
the thing is that in standby it is great, i get 1% drain in 24 hours...
but if i use the phone just for web browsing or facebook it heats as hell, and i lose 1% batery in 3 minutes...
no gaming, no downloading and no SIM card in it.
Just drains as hell and gets to hot just for web browsing.
I also noticed with battery gsam analyser that if i use the phone it always puts the all processors on 100% speed and for me that is the problem and it has got to be a bug on the governor settings.
any ideas?
many thanks,
what can i do?

Not having a simcard does phone scans fro network?
you could do factory reset if same flash stock firmware using LGUP.. if its marshmallow then be careful wich antirollback you 0n... also i read
LP has better battery than MM.
Hi,
many tanks for your reply.
I also did the same test with the sim cards inserted and the problem was the same.
Meanwhile I flashed the original rom version V20b (I had the V20f) and althou the problem is not gone, things have improved mery much.
I am now sure the problem is software related with the rom and the way it manages the cpu load and speed.
I am pretty much sure if developers of the original rom had more attention to cpu load vs cpu speed this phone could be awsome and have great battery life.
The thing is way does it need to have 6 cores running on full speed just for webbrowsing? It seems to me they dont know how to control the ammount of cpu cores and speed vs the load we put on it.

Even I am currently facing Battery drain Issues was thinking to switch to LP...!! But my LGUP does not detect my phone !!! (818N)
from my experience, i've already tried rolling back to a lot of different version of lollipop, v10k rooted+debloated, v10l rooted+debloated, camuix v3 (v10d base), camuix alpha test4 (v10e base), i love using xposed framework, and also i'm a user who loves installing things,it was about 400+ apps/games installed and guess what, it drains my battery 5-7% every 15 minutes without doing anything. and then i tried again using marsmallow, first, i install v20e, but i don't like the UI that much, so i flashed genisys system.img (v20c base) via download mode and disabling some bloatware via debloater. so after having v20c with genisys ui, i install every apps/games i had before 1 by 1, and now, there's about 428-433 apps/games on my phone. after day to day use, i don't really feel too much battery drain regarding a lot of apps/games i had. and also it will go overheat just when playing games or watching videos, it doesn't really overheat when browsing. and about the SOT, it can go up to 3-4 hours depending on network or gps uses, when i use my phone as turn by turn navigation, it can survive about 2.40-3.20 hours. actually, i do really miss every xposed framework i uses before, but i don't really feel so much different. because now in marsmallow, i can use my 128gb microsd as adoptable storage, a lot of CPU & GPU governor improvements, a lot of OOT improvements, a genisys theme, and by using such apps like floatify, fooview, appblock, and adguard, it just feel's like a rooted phone. and one last thing, now i can throw away any kernel or script modifier i've previously used, it was a really really hard time on optimizing this phone with that method, lolz. btw if u need some screenshot, i'll post it

Hi,
many tanks for your reply.
It seems to me they dont know how to control the ammount of cpu cores and speed vs the load we put on it.
regards,

well if you unlocked bootloader flahsing other kernels might have different governors some are foe performance some are more tame... yes i agree why use alot of cores when it can handle with one core or 2.. but thats how governors are some are in ondemand it goes from lowest cpu to highest cpu only if you open a pic.. its less lags but all that cores arent need it.. a governor like smartass v2 or intellimn will use less cores depending on what you are doing.

Tomorow I am going to sell my Asus Rog5, so now I want to buy RM6 Pro ...So question is simple are you happy with you phone?
And pros and cons pls
Hello, I know am late on this but do not sell your ROG.. RM6 have lots of software issues. the most am suffering with is they limit it from using full performance! I can't see it using 840mhz on GPU for genshin or ANY game! my friend have ROG 5 and I can see his GPU on SD888 can use full performance. Nubia's software is really not good! I regret buying it.

While I agree with RM6's software issues, I'm not so sure about your statements on their GPU performance. I own a standard ROG Phone 5 and I can confirm that GPU speed runs at max speed for the first 5 minutes of playing Genshin, but quickly slows down as the device heats up. This is even with AeroActive Cooler 5 mounted and set to max fan speed. So it's important to also determine and compare sustained GPU performance, which I believe RM6 wins here.
Phone build is good. Spec and features are good but very lacking in the software department. Bugs and errors in lots of parts of the phone. Physically feels good but software feels bad. Runs games well

I never.. like never seen the GPU runs at 840mhz, only in antutu. for genshin I see it goes up to 600mhz something when I run the game while the phone is cool, then it drops right away to 540mhz. and keeps like that or lower. and no matter how much I cool it, it never goes above that. I used their new cooler.. and I put the device in front of AC that it got so cold. yet still never gone above 540mhz.. even the CPU stuck at 2.4.. how is this not an issue? I just want to use the full performance. I had RM5 G and I used the rom they provided here to boost the GPU to 940mhz, it was doing better than this one.. I'll never buy a phone from Nubia ever again. next time I'll just get the ROG.

My GPU reaching at max frequency probably happened while I was sitting in the start screen or looking straight at the wall but now that I think about it it didn't really maintain for 5 minutes. The Adreno 660 is very power hungry and runs hot this time around for internal and external cooling to matter (hence RM6 has the edge). You can certainly use custom kernel to boost the GPU even higher but I'd worry about phones with limited cooling. Also I've yet to find ROG 5 custom kernel that boosts GPU frequency.
But really the SoC should improve on efficiency aspect as the ROG 3 did really well in peak and sustained performance. There's hope and excitement for the upcoming AMD GPU on mobile but I'm not sure if other vendors will adopt it besides Samsung.
