I got my wife one of these to replace her Motorola Defy.. She has a few questions I couldn't really answer...
1) She seems to be having problems with signal and therefore internet connectivity. All our other 6 devices wireless fine. It's running 4.04 Android Custom ROM. I read recently 4.04 users were reporting issues with the signal strength and wondering if I should change back to 4.03?
2) She says whites are not really white and when I compare to the Defy it would appear she is right.
3) She says the text doesn't look as sharp or crisp and again I am inclined to agree. I am not sure if this is a Pixel Density issue or a setting we can change.
4) Battery life is shocking. I'd say she is lucky to get 8 hours if she talks on the phone for perhaps 45 minutes a day. I am interested to know what a reasonable baseline expectation is.. Right now she is barely touching it.
5) Are the Nexus and Nexus S supported in the same forums and take the same ROMS?

I think some users have found setting the Min CPU frequency to 729 instead of 384 helps to alleviate the signal drop issue. I have not experienced it myself. It might help if you report what rom/kernel you are using.
I personally get excellent battery life. Try enabling auto brightness and disabling auto-sync on data heavy applications such as some news readers or facebook. You can install CPUSpy and BetterBatteryStats to get an idea if your phone is properly going into deep sleep when idle and if not, what is preventing it from doing so.
Nexus S roms are NOT compatible with the Galaxy Nexus.

Hello there xda. I bought my first SGH-i747m(Canada Bell version) and it had a pretty serious heat problem when I did use my cellphone doing anything for more than 5 minutes. After 15 minutes it usually bothers me too much so I just stop using my device.
I didn't try anything to fix it yet other than using a JB rom(ParanoidAndroid) on both my first device, and now my second device. They both do the absolute same thing. The bottom half gets really hot while the top half stays really cool.
Is that a common thing? If so, is there any fixes? It's really horrible to use a half hot/cold device, even worse than using a fully hot device.

I had issues with overheating too.
Now they are all gone.

It gets hot at the bottom because that's where the CPU and all that good stuff are, and that good stuff gets hot. Mine doesn't get crazy hot down there but it is definitely warmer down there then the top, that much is normal. Yours may be to hot down there however... Idk. But I've seen others with this issue cool the phone down with custom kernels. I've also seen people say custom kernels make there phone hotter.. Try it out.

I'm on custom JB, so there' no "powersave".
I guess I'll try different kernels etc. I'm quite close to actually selling the device, overheating is one of my pet peeves.

Like the gentleman a few posts up said. Depending on how you use it. The phone will get warm.
It should never be actually hot, to the point where it will harm you if you pick it up.

try going back to stock, all of a sudden the phone doesnt get as hot.
or try underclocking your kernel on custom. AOKP and CM both have an out of the box clock of 1.8 Ghz.
tune it down to 1.3 or 1.1. issue gone.

I feel like I shouldn't be complaining, and that it's not "overheating" but it's getting warm. I'm used to my SGS1 which runs ice cold whatever I do.
I just underclocked it, but I don't even feel the difference. I'm now running the new ParanoidAndroid with the custom kernel recommended in here. It has all the tweaking tools necessary.
Happened even on stock ROM
Mine runs a bit warm too. It is warm to the point where is gets uncomfortable to keep in my pocket at times and as far as I know it is doing "nothing". It will be fine, then I check an email or G+ notification then it goes crazy.
One commenter suggested going back to stock but mine has been doing the same thing since then, it just seem a bit more regular for the last few days. I am now in KyanROM 1.3. I am going to give that po.wer save thing a shot over the next day or so and let you guys know how that goes.
Use setcpu load up the setcpu widget and tell up what tempature your phone is

I notcied it is overheating when it's on LTE and the battery drain fast. I turned LTE off and I am using 4g or wifi and i don't have this problem
I noticed my phone started connecting to LTE since this week too but my overheating problem started long before that. What I noticed though is that the battery also started to drain a lot faster when it started. For the battery drain, I am thinking it is either that LTE thing or a rouge app trying access my GPS a lot since the icon keeps popping up more and more in the notification bar "searching". For now I have disabled LTE and GPS until I have time to investigate them.
By the way, I tried using PowerSave, as someone suggested to help with the overheating, but it screwed up how some of my emails are displayed so I turned it off.

Well i have install several ROMS wich as HO!NO! full throtlle, Cyanogenmod 9 an 10 stables and Nigthly edition, JellyBam and others that i not even remember and all of them always in some point they just reboots and im really hate it. I use wakelocks app and it works for a few days but eventually it reboot and he battery drain really fast, 8hours in EDGE and just a little chatting on whatsapp and a few calls.
i always wipe system, datvilks etc, im kind of new on this stuuuf but i think im doing it correctly.
Im starting to think that maybe its a hadware problem. Onces i ask some crappy tech gay in a store and he told me that i should buy another battery i dont know why, i thought that he just want to sell me the battery but i dont know.
Can anyone help me or recomend a ROM or something?
I just want a ROM that doesnt reboot and good battery life and i can do normal stuff. i dont care about overclocking or anything like that,

I would install a stock rom, either stock AT&T gingerbread or ICS for the Nitro and see if it still reboots. If it does, I think you have a hardware problem.

This will make sure you are 100% stock. Then if you are still having issues you know that it is a hardware problem. Just make sure you do a full wipe after install.

Sparcots miui ics port is the only rom that has zero bugs, black screens, or reboots for me. I've tried everything else.

Another potential issue is your SD Card.
I've also noticed lately that my Nitro sometimes randomly reboots. I run with the CM10 Nightlies. The other day, after installing a new nightly, it was really bad, almost constantly rebooting. I took out the battery, removed the SD card and let it sit for awhile (like 1/2 hour or so). Then I put everything back together, reinstalled the nightly and it's MUCH MORE stable now (still randomly reboots, but the instances are much less).
Give that a try and see if it helps at all.

how it can be solved? Help please!
My solution has been to just stick with Gingerbread.. No rebooting, good battery life even with the stock battery, runs all the apps I need.
I do miss ics/jellybean, but I rather have a stable phone with great battery life than a pretty, unstable bleeding edge phone.
If anyone wants to build an awesome gingerbread/ics hybrid.. Then I am down. Lol.

two P930s (NItro HD), one with hardware issues
I have two P930s. One of them is much more sensitive to ROM settings and I find I need to limit the CPU to 1200 Mhz or so to prevent random reboots.
The other one works well at full 1500 Mhz speed. This particular model seems to have inconsistent hardware build quality. It makes me reluctant to try any other LG devices (a relative has an LG dishwasher that has also been troublesome, with random shutdowns and error codes).

1 - bad sd card
2 - bad flash
3 - unstable recovery .
for me , i have noticed the same , and found it fixed once i upgraded my recovery

I'm going to try Kernel Tuner and up the voltage a little and see if the phone is more stable. wistlo mentioned limiting the CPU to 1200 Mhz and I think he may be on the right track. If the processor cannot handle being clocked to 1500, which is stock, then a common method (at least with PC's) is to either lower the Mhz or increase the voltage. Or both.
I just tried this a few minutes ago and I'll report back later.

My phone was still unstable. I decided to try a stock Gingerbread ROM and it seems to run very, very well.

Yeah, i remember downgrading to GB to root, didn't use it muchzbut it never once rebooted.
Bought mine last week on ebay brand new (packages sealed and everything), i let it fully charged and started using it.
Came with stock ICS and has been constantly rebooting for the past week.
If i didn't live overseas and didn't have to pay so much money to clear through customs here i would have returned it, but i'm stuck with it and searching for help.
Funny thing is i've gamed on it for hours straight and stability tests for more than 2 hrs and it never rebooted. Then i'll whip out the keyboard to type a message or install an app on play store...or simple web browsing and BAM!....reboots
I've changed to 3 SD Cards even tried without it, still reboots.
All wireless signals off, reboot.
Different ROMS/Kernels, factory reset/wipe, Battery cover off, diff. governors I/Os, Underclocks & Overvolts, tried it all....except going back to GB.
It kind of irks me to know that i came from a GB phone to upgrade to a "new" phone that can only run on GB stable.
It always crashes during some really "stressLESS" stuff, lol. CPU scaling problem maybe?
Also, with no SD Card installed and on boot i get a "SD Card damaged. Try Reformatting" error. Is it normal to get this error with no SD installed?

This definitely makes me think you've got a CPU scaling problem. If you're doing something consistent, like playing a game or stress testing...The CPU will likely stay at a single frequency...But in your case, once you start doing some other activity (which very likely caused a CPU frequency change), the reboot occurs.
Definitely try installing SetCPU and set both the minimum and maximum frequency to something midrange, like 1.2GHz. This way you're locking the phone to a single value (no scaling) and not the max frequency so you won't overload it. Then do what you usually do when it reboots and If the phone stays stable, you'll know the problem is likely an issue with CPU frequency scaling. If it still reboots, at least you've removed one possible reason from the list.

It was suggested in another thread that setting the governor to conservative 486 min 1404 max fixed the BSOD, so I tried it and haven't had a single reboot since I posted the last time. I was lucky if I got 30 min before trying it out.
I agree with you, definitely seems to be CPU scaling issue.
Conservative gradually increases the speed compared to the massive min to max spikes you'd get with ondemand.
I will try that with CM10.1 Rc2 with Wind Kernel. I got a few reboot when using my Calendar app for example, while low on battery.

Tell me, plz, how can I do that? Now I have old 5.8.0.2 recovery. But since I dumped old 8Gb Sandisk and inserted 16Gb Sandisk I now had no reboots. But I want new recovery nonetheless
I'm not exactly sure why its been overheating, I've noticed its been like this since I rooted. I've tried multiple roms, all 4.2.1 so I'm not sure if its that. Either its messing around in the camera, browsing the web, or in the system settings changing settings it usually begins to heat up.
What can I do to fix heating issue? Its usually 100+ temp.
Have you messed with CPU frequencies or voltages? If you OC, that can make your phone get hot. Or having your brightness high for a long period of time can as well. Your phone might also just not like certain kernels. Try going back to stock via Odin and see if it goes back to normal.

I haven't OC but because of the heating I've tried under clocking. The tempt stay below 100 but, the phone became sluggish. Lower the brightness does have an impact on the temp. but it only slows it down compared to when it quickly became hot using applications.
I'm not exactly sure how kernels work but would I be able to use the samsung stock kernel on my AOKP rom while still keeping the features I'm already using?
You might actually have a faulty phone. You're the third person I know with an overheating issue. But the only difference is you are rooted. everyone else is actually stock and they have just bought their phones recently. One phone was only a day or two old and the other was under 3 months old. There is a chance you may have a faulty phone. But who knows.

I'm looking to get the LG G3 heat under control. Under nominal load I'm getting in the 50'sC with a ambient temp of 76F
If I run Pokémon Go, temps get up into the 70'sC. I'd like to do something along the lines of undervolting or underclocking the phone. Problem is I'm running 30e which doesn't currently appear to have a root option.
Any suggestions for non-root underclocking? Is there a root solution for the 30e Marshmallow for the 851

Things I've found...
Running 6.0 Stock 30D root.
Most of the recommendations I'm seeing are of the common sense variety.
1: Turn down screen brightness.
2: Minimize running apps.
3: Turn off GPS/WIFI ect.
4: Stop gaming
5: Stay out of the sun
I can do 1 and 2, but the others are hard to avoid I've tried the following.
1: Under clock - Surprised no help here.
2: Reduce resolution to 1080p
Looks like the next step is to move to a new Kernel or do the hardware mod.
Hardware mod looks pretty successful, but may come at a price. Screen failure.
Does moving to a new Kernel really help? I hear some folks rave but others say it really didn't make a difference.
Considering the Phone is pretty much going to be running pretty hard.
GPS plus CPU/GPU plus data. Is this a moot effort? When I under clocked, the phone heated up more slowly, but eventually reached nearly the same temperature, maybe a 1 degree difference.
