it'll most likely be a refurbished one. any warranty replacements are always refurbished phones so this case shouldn't be any different.
You won't know the difference both are new.

They can send you a new or refurbished depending on your luck. Of all my experience I have only heard, with own ears (and they kept their promise), Google, say that they only replace their warranty claims with new devices.
Well my girl ended up recieving a brand new replacement in sealed box with all accessories, which I thought was cool. Thank you guys for the replies and im thinking all replacements are new or refurbished according to reason for claim.
Every refurbished replacement I have gotten so far (all android phone historically) have come with a defect and I call Asurion and then they overnight a brand new one.
Sorry if I should have started a new thread, but it is insurance related.
My wife dropped her phone and cracked the screen.
It's an s3.
We pay the $7 or so per month for insurance, but they want a $150 deductible.
Is this how it works?
And if I'm paying a deductible, I want a brand new phone, not a refurbished old one.
Thanks.

I just read in a thread on the S3 page that asurion is replacing broken S3s with new LTE S3s due to stock issues. Make sure you don't put the sim card in an old phone before you call and make the claim, they will switch the insurance to that phone. If you already have put the sim in the broken phone and run it that way for a day or two. Asurion can tell.
Check the last posts of the linked thread. Some of the thread is sketchy but some of it is able to be used legitimately.

OK! So I bended down to pick up my headphones from the floor and my phone was in my shirt pocket. So as I tried to grab it I could reach the headphones so I bended again and while I got the headphones my phone fall off my pocket... it was like 3 feet or less and now I'm screw... I'm paying the Verizon supreme guarantee (the one that costs like 7$) and I don't know how much I need o replace it or at least for them to fix the screen
I need help!

Wait so your screen broke? Well I think so, just pay Verizon the deductible and they will send you a new phone, that's why you have insurance.
insurance deductible is $50
In 5 lines you dont described what exactly was broken in your phone. Not the best way to get help.
Yes! It broke! The right down area of the phone... is it really 50$?? So I only pay that and I get a new one?

Don't worry about getting a refurb, I have gotten a ton of them from Verizon and never had a problem with any of them. If you do have a problem I believe Verizon swaps them out without much of a fight.

So a little more than two weeks after I bought my Galaxy Nexus (Sprint), it had a rather unpleasant meeting with concrete. The screen is so cracked, Charlie Sheen is impressed.
Right now they're on back-order with Asurion, so it could be up to two weeks before they ship my replacement. Not sure about the VZW Gnex.

How is it a rip-off? For $100 they're sending me a replacement. It would have easily cost a lot more than that to get the screen replaced, and the retail price of the phone is $550.

Actually, that's rather fortuitous for you. Asurion typically does not keep new phones on hand and stocks up on refurbs. What your current situation means is that you'll likely receive a new replacement. "up to two weeks" is their standard disclaimer, but you'll probably be without for just a few days while they acquire a new handset from Sprint and then shop it to you after they receive it. Same thing happened to me in January with the VZW GN.

My screen cracked today after it dropped from my pants. I got it around 2 months ago, so does it still have warranty? I have the premium protection handset bundle on T-Mobile, so what would I do to get a new phone? And my phone is rooted...does that change anything?
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
i would run triangle away first, then i would unroot my phone and finally i would reinstall tmobile's 4.0.4 firmware using odin
Would I get a new phone for free or no? And where can I get this app? Thank you so much guys.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
If you have the Premium Handset Protection you would have to use it and pay the $130 deductible. Warranty is for problems not inflicted by you. Like if GPS stops working for no reason.
So would I get a new one in the store? Or would I have too ship it. And is it mandatory too triangle away and unroot? I'm running cm10 if it helps.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
Although its unlikely they will care if its rooted/rommed, I would bring it back to stock as a small insurance against them being nasty about it. Go to www.phoneclaim.com/t-mobile or call 1-866-268-7221 to make the claim with Asurion, the insurance company.
Just bring it in to a T-MO store and ask for a replacement. First call them over the phone and tell them that your screen is cracked. They will set you up with a replacement.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T989 using xda premium
My premium protection package is through Asurion - the contracted company T-Mobile uses (at least I think it still is). They don't care if you're rooted. They make darn sure it's not a warranty-able software thing.
After I had paid for a 21 months of coverage, they still wanted me to put $130(us) into buying a replacement Vibrant... last May. I I found a few on Ebay for about $140. There's no harm, OK, maybe 20 minutes, in filing a claim to find out what they'll do. They won't send you anything until they receive the broken phone. I have a feeling they won't just send you a free, brand new replacement for nothing.
You may want to compare your "deductible" to what it might cost to get a new digitizer (and screen) to either put in yourself, or to have someone do it for you. I haven't tried anyone else, but PPCTechs has been fine for me, though they don't do everything.
I plan on dropping my coverage about a year into it. I'm also looking into a smaller deductible on my homeowners' insurance.
(I might also recommend putting a rubber bumper on it next time. Aluminum and hard plastic are great, but nothing takes a hit like a substance that bounces.)
What do you mean "still" ? I've paid my auto insurance long enough to buy my car twice and I "still" have to pay a deductible if I wreck. That's how insurance works, fun right?
A lot of these questions need to be answered by tmo. Did you try them before posting? You're going to have to go through the process eventually.
Not yet....I'm gonna check tommorow....so basically I gotta pay $130....that sucks...because I had 70 left over and was about to purchase a nexus 7....in your guys opinion, should I purchase the nexus 7 now and get a new gs3 next month? Everything works quite fine, there's just a crack in the screen.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
I bought a N7 2 weeks ago. I liked it but most of them have there glass lifting on the left side. Mine did and so did the replacement I got. So I brought it back. If you do get one look for one with a serial number that starts with C9O. C8O and under are more prone to this.
With the premium protection package they will replace it in-store with a brand new unit. Be sure to run Triangle Away and Odin the phone back to stock before you bring it in.
So it is free and I don't have to pay a deductible?

I think several people have told you that you will have to pay a deductable. It will be $130 even with premium handset protection. Hopefully that makes it clear to you.
Thank you, everyone. So I'll just triangle away, unroot, and than revert to stock 4.0.4? Does that sound about right?
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
Triangle away, factory reset, odin back to stock, which will remove root anyways.
Yes revert to stock before doing anything in terms of replacing it, Then i would call a t-mobile store first and see if they will replace it in store for the deductible, With Premium handset protection some stores will replace it right away others will tell you to file a claim and mail it in, it all depends on the store. No matter how you replace it you will be subject to the 130 deductible and a 5 processing fee on your bill. If you file a claim through asurion and do so before 8:30pm eastern they will ship it that day and its usually a one day ship. Also you only get two claims within a 12 month period. So be sure to get a good case moving forward.
Best of luck.

I would recommend to switch to your carriers warranty or any insurance that covers stolen/lost. I had Bestbuy's warranty and they do not cover stolen phones, at the time I had bought a brand new iPhone 4 and it was stolen after a week of having it. Bestbuy told me I was SOL...
Does Squaretrade cover stolen phones?
It does not cover lost or stolen. It covers damage or problems after the manufacturers warranty is over. I bought this through Amazon this week for 99 for my Galaxy Note 2. I usually do not buy warranties but received a $100 Amazon gift card for a work contest. So I decided to get the 2 year accident warranty. Nice thing is it can be transferred with the phone!

Available in Canada?
As I was getting out of the car the other day, my phone slipped out of my pocket and hit the concrete, shattering the screen. It's obviously still usable, but annoying. It's a Note 1. I have the AT&T insurance and since I wasn't available for an upgrade for a while, I figured I would just pay the $200 and get a replacement Note.
As I was filling out the form, it verified that I had a Note 1. As I continued to go through the form, it said that I wouldn't be getting a replacement Note 1, but a Note 2. I was pleasantly surprised by this. My question is, to any who have gotten a phone replaced from AT&T, do they tend to send a new phone or a refurbished phone?

Well, I got my replacement from Asurion. Weather it's a refurb or not, I'm not sure, but it looks pristine to me. I just wish they would have given me the opportunity out pick which color phone I wanted. I like the gray, or what ever it's called, but I've had white phones for as long as I can remember.
