Voicemail code (Boost Mobile)? - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just flashed a custom ROM to my phone for the first time. It took a little figuring out, as it was my first time flashing, but it works! And, I'm over my fear factor, so I'll probably try some other ones and not afraid to tweak anymore.
So, the only thing I'm really having trouble with now is setting up my Voicemail. I'm on the Boost Mobile network, and I presume there is a short code that we are supposed to dial to get into Voicemail or something like that, and I presume this changes depending on the carrier.
I thought we just dialed "1" from the dialpad to access and setup, but I just get a recording that says "The number you are accessing is invalid, please hang up and try again." That was what I saw under Boost's instructions online.
http://www.boostmobile.com/shop/phones/mobile-guides/htc-one-sv/Content/20130109_HTC_One_SV_Boost_User_Guide_WWE/Set%20Up%20Voicemail.htm
But, even beyond that, I'd like to set up Visual Voicemail... So, not sure if this is where I'll need an app or something.
If anyone has any hints or can point me in the right direction, that would be great!

Okay, I just flashed to a new ROM and everything is working well, but still looking to figure out how to properly set up my Voicemail on the Boost Mobile network....
And, I'd like to use a visual voicemail service. If there's any quick links or videos on how I can easily set this up on my Android phone, please pass along!!!
Thanks.

Can't get migrated xv6800 back onto Verizon network

What started out as an effort to get my migrated XV6800 to operate on Verizon's data network has taken a nasty turn for the worse... Here is the long, sordid story, and I would really appreciate help in getting this device back onto the Verizon network.
This was originally a Qwest phone. I unlocked it and flashed it with a Verizon ROM, the file name is _Verizon XV6800_RUU_TITAN_VZW_WWE_3.57.605.1_RS_TITAN_3.37. 75_OM_VZW_ShipFULL. After I did that the customization routines did not run. Frankly, I don't know if they were supposed to or not, but they didn't.
I couldn't get the phone to connect to the Verizon network, even on *228. Eventually I applied a PRL and then I was able to connect to *228, and option #3 got the phone onto the voice network. I used it as my cell phone for two weeks with no issues on the voice network. Still, I wasn't able to get data working.
These are the things I tried while troubleshooting the data issue:
* Loaded the carrier cab from DCD
* Forced a CDMA only connection to download new keys
* Loaded the newest Verizon ROMs I found while at their website (this is the first time I saw customization routines)
* Told Verizon to switch me from pay as you go data to unlimited data (though it looks like they never turned this on)
* Tried activating my PDA with a different Verizon number, and then re-activating it with my original Verizon number
* Did a hard reset
It's those last two steps that screwed me. After I swapped the number off the phone I wasn't able to get it back. I could get to option #3, but it wouldn't let me activate the phone. Their tech support is no help and they are shocked when they look back at my account history and see that I was able to use *228 to get this phone on their network two weeks ago.
I then did a hard reset and got myself all the way back to the point where I was before I manually put the PRL in place. When I dial *228 I get the following: "Your account is not authorized to make calls to this phone number. I you would like to have additional capabilities added to your account please call customer service. Message 4, swich 691". I'm guessing that installing a PRL on the phone will now let me use option #3, because that's what made it work last time. However, I'm looking for instructions since I messed up somewhere in the process last time.
I just tried the following, but I get a recording saying they are unable to activate my phone at this time and then it tried to connect me to a person.
1. Install PRL
2. Install carrier cab
3. Install MMS cab
4. Run *228, #3
I know the person is just going to tell me that they can't help because their system doesn't recognize the ESN.
So what's the verdict, can I expect to get this phone back onto the voice network, will it ever work on the data network? Any help that anyone can offer in resolving this would be greatly appreciated.
Wrong forum? Should this have gone into upgrades?
moved thread by request of OP as Q&A forum did not provide answers nor does the OP expect it to.
Best regards,
Flar
Since being able to dial *228, have you called customer service to pull a new key for your device? When I upgraded a xv6800 rom I was not able to dial *228 until I did that. It was a bit of work getting it to pull the new key, but they did it. They first walked me through a manual registration process, then I think they tried to push it through and that worked.
Is your phone a Verizon phone? The pickle I'm in is that mine is not. When they ask me for the ESN they say it's unrecognized and that's pretty much it. They say they can't help me get it on the network because it's not a Verizon phone.

Yep mine is a verizon phone. I am wondering if this is a new implementation, because I have flashed several roms before and never had to call them to get my phone activated until about a month ago. When you dial *228 does it allow you to do a phone programing, I think it is option 1?
No. 1, 2, & 3 all fail. I just called tech support again, hoping getting a new A key would resolve this. He told me he couldn't give me an A key unless the phone's ESN was in the system and the only way to get it in there is through *228, #3... Kind of a Catch 22.
His last suggestion was that I activate a different PDA on my number and see if maybe the computer is choking because my current phone isn't a PDA, and this one is. Kind of sounds like clutching at straws, but he said at this point I've done all that can be done, short of that.
I find really odd, and extremely frustrating, that I can't find anyone else who has been through this with a non-Verizon phone.

stupid ? Verizon activation

Just finished playing with my new 6900 and want to activate it (GPS seems to be working even with the cdma antenna off). I don't know if it's because I'm not in my home area or because they are onto the custom rom but activation fails by *228,2 *228,1 *228,3 (followed by *228,1) and even by typing the esn into the website. This is a brand new unactivated phone. The fail message says to call customer service. Are they going to realize it's a custom rom?

Nah, just tell em you recently flashed the 6.1 ROM update, or you Master Reset the phone and even after *228 you can't get the phone to authenticate calls. They will re-establish it in the system and you'll be good to go.

Gave them a call. The woman I spoke to had me dial ##778 which didn't work (because of nfsfans's dialer app that came with his 6.5 package, I guess).
Any thoughts?

Try ##778# that should do it. Or you can go in to your file explorer and under the windows folder run the EPST.ink

I should have updated the thread... I figured out the ##778# thing this morning but then the password was not 000000 so I had to run getspc.exe to retrieve it. Now, they've gone through the manual set up and, with them doing a couple things on their end, I'm HALFWAY (maybe 1/3) there:
(1) the phone dials but thinks it's roaming (and this mght have something to do with *228 not working...)
(2) Data connection does not work. I recall seeing how to fix this (it is missing some password info or something) and am looking for the thread now... (if someone knows where it is I'd be much obliged) .
I've made 3-4 calls to verizon now, each but the last ending suddenly when they suggested I do a hard reset.
Truthfully, I swear there's some issue with my account that requires voodoo everytime I need to activate a phone. This was my first custom rom but on two different numbers with a handful of pda phones, I can't remember the last time an activation was smoothly. A phone on my other line was roaming mysteriously for a while too and only remedied when I activated a new one.
Thanks all!

[Q] Changed Phone #, now can't dial out

So I had my Evo 4g rooted with Unrevoked3, had some nice ROMs and all that fun bling stuff for a few months without a hitch. Yesterday I had my number changed, didn't bother returning to stock or anything. I couldn't dial out or send texts (but could send texts) but had access to the mobile network. So I unrooted, returned to stock (no OTA cuz I intend to root it again), ran through Sprint's activation again and still exact same issue.
I get this message when I attempt dialing out and also when I dial my new number from a diff line: "We could not complete your call. Please try again." Google voice works fine though - but again, so does the mobile network.
Sprint customer service is no help - and right now the Sprint store is closed, so here I be. Any help would be appreciated.
it sounds like the number is not configured correctly on sprint's end. taking it into the store may be the only way to get it fixed. or go onto the sprint website n try

This, or call *2.
Problem solved! Turns out it was my Google Voice number integrated with my old Sprint number that was creating conflicts with my phone being able to use the new Sprint number. Talk about a whack attack. I spoke with five diff techs trying to figure this one out.
Man, I did all that unrooting and resetting for nothin! Except, of course, for other Google Voice subscribers to learn from my experience...

Having a problem programming my phone.

I went through the process of changing my number through Verizon's website, and I am having problems programming my phone. I did *228 and hit 1 to reprogram and everything went fine. "Programming... SPL Unlocked" with the background music, then the automated voice telling me to please wait while my phone is being programmed.. then 5 seconds or so later my phone makes this stuttering noise like the phone is lagging and then it just shuts off and restarts.
I am not able to to program the phone successfully and I have no idea what it could be. My phone is unlocked and rooted with the Virtuous Affinity ROM.
If anyone could help me out I would really appreciate it. My phone is useless and I need it to function asap. The only thing I could think to do next is a hard reset, but I don't know what kind of implications that would have or if it's even necessary.
Thanks.

I have to sometimes set the CDMA Options/System select to "Home Only" other wise I get a recording telling me to enter an area code with this number.
If you can dial ##778# Send and access the menu for setting up all the data settings, you will need to call VZW from another line or a land-line.
Just be sure to have the stock software version handy to tell them "Oh here it says version 5.10.605.9".
The data settings will stick between flashing ROMs.
You might need to suggest to them to reset your "A" key (Authentication Key).
Tech support is open 24-7 so use it, They get tired of hearing me telling them what their screen shows.
If all else fails, do a nandroid and hard reset.
If your in a fringe area like I am, set the CDMA Options/System select to "Home Only" and do the *22899 send and if that doesn't fix it then get the tech rep back on the line, hop the hoops and do the ##778# Send and put in Home SID/NID and all the rest.
I usually use QPST to backup my data settings but the last time switched phones I forgot that the A Key is ESN specific, so I needed to have it reset.
Good luck..

LG LS-980 Sprint to NET10 driving me crazy!!!!!

Hello,
First, let me express my deepest thanks in advance for those of you who may be of assistance. I have visited this site many times over the years when I needed to find the answers to smartphone related issues (mostly rooting..etc). I have usually found the information that I needed via reading posts and trial and error; however, I am having a problem that I cannot find the answer to and it is frustrating the crap out of me.
So, here goes:
I bought a LG LS980 off of Ebay. It was locked to Sprint and I had a friend of mine root it (since I couldn't figure it out and it ended up being that the firmware had to be downgraded since a patch was bumped to it) and unlocked (or so i was told, but I do not know how to find out). It is currently running Cyanogenmod 12.1. I wanted to use my old phone's SIM and pop it into my new phone so that I could enjoy it (the old phone was a Nexus and ran hella slow). So, anyway.... I contacted NET10 customer support since that is my carrier and explained what I wanted to do. They let me know that as long as it is unlocked that I would be able to just swap the SIM into the new phone and should be good to go. They checked my IMEI and said that the phone was, indeed, compatible and as long as it is unlocked it should just be a matter of a simple ROM swap. Not the case. I put the SIM in and booted it up. It went from No Service to saying "Sprint" on the upper left hand corner. I try to make a call and it states that, "The code or number that I am dialing is incorrect, please try the code or number again". I looked this up on the internet and didn't find a focused answer. I talked to my friend and he stated that I may have to set up a new APN profile.
I have checked the APN settings on it and all of the APN profiles have the prefix "Verizon". I used this mini tutorial at http://forums.androidcentral.com/goo...-settings.html along with the NET10 settings to try and make a profile. Both of their workarounds don't seem to work. I can enter about half of the information and then either click BACK or SAVE and then the profile is gone. I am not sure this is the reason that my phone is not working, but I thought I would give it a try. I have also tried to use this tutorial: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2798566 as a loose guide, TWRP installed. Keep in mind that I believe that my firmware was rolled back to ZVE. and not ZVD. When I have tried to edit the build.prop values at the tutorial states it does not save. Also, there are two lines that are not even in my build.prop (ro.build.target_operator and persist.service.crash.enable). When I have tried to edit or add it adds them but does not save and definitely does not persist through reboot. I feel as if I am close to getting the phone to work, but I am unsure where to go from here. I really do NOT want to have to go back to a stock ROM and all of that because....well.... my friend did the rooting and installing of cyanogenmod and I don't want to risk undoing all of his work and having to pay $ to have it done all over again (I have rooted phones..etc, but this G2 was a MOFO because of the firmware patch for me). NET10 CS and TS was of no help and they gave me a ticket number (and to tell you the truth the are outsourced and I can't understand what their reps are saying). So, does anyone have any advice or threads that I can look at? Like I said, I feel as if it is close, but no matter what number I call it says that recording. I get no incoming calls (although it rings when listening to the incoming calling phone's speaker). I am also unable to send or receive SMS or MMS messages. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am not the most technically savvy person, but I can answer your questions to the best of my ability and I am good at following directions. (I have about 5-6 phone root/ROMS under my belt and even 2-3 SPRINT to NET10 activations, but this one is just perplexing the crap out of me) . Could it be that the phone is not unlocked???? How do I check this??? Is there a way??? When I put in the NET10 SIM it never asked me for an unlock code so I am assuming that my friend unlocked it? I have also tried "Turn the phone ON and type 2945#801# If nothing happens, type 2945#802# or 2945#*803#" and no hidden menu appears asking for an unlock code.
