Hi, my phone has been working great ever since I got it in September...
Then today something terrible happened, I was taking a photo and suddenly a weird black bar appeared in the middle of the screen, and everything was frozen... and then after 10 seconds the screen went totally black, except for a few glowing pixels.
So now hours later the screen has still refused to come back on, of course I've removed the battery etc. and the phone is still working fine, I can call it, I hear when I receive messages, it's just the screen stays black permanently, actually if I leave the screen on for a while then the whole thing glows in a crazy way. So I guess I'm going to have to send it in for a warranty repair.
And so I'm trying to get all my files off the device before I send it in, in case it comes back erased.
I've connected by USB and I've got almost all my files, the only thing left is the screen grabs that I took using the stylus, the ones that it takes when you hold down the stylus button then draw the 'lasso' around something.
I can't figure out where those screen grabs are located! I tried searching the device for all .jpg files but they're not there, it must be another extension - I've also searched for .png and .bmp without any luck. I know the screen grabs must be a regular image format, not a custom format like the S Note files, because the screen grabs appear in QuickPic.
Can somebody please check and tell me the exact location where the screen grabs are stored? Thanks!
It should be under
Sdcard/pictures/screenshots/
Filename by default yyyy-mm-dd-time. Png

ok so i searched on the sites for a fading to a white screen problem but it looks like its related to the dpad... my phone was really low on battery last night it kept beeping continuously... so by the time i got to plug it in the screen started to fade to white... now the screen has vslight vertical lines and every time i shut off the phone with the power button and turn it on it comes normal but as soon as u touch the screen it fades to white!!! was this caused by the low battery. i fully charged it but still have the same prob. i tried clearing my storage and that didn't help..what do i do?
white screen
you will need to replace the board for the dpad.
ok thanks. is this the same issue that others are having as well? the wierd thing is half the time it works the other half it doesnt...
I had a similar problem. I had pressed the power button to check the time and screen was white! SR rebooted and after the first splash screen the screen faded to white. I finally founded a product called Pocket Controller http://www.soti.net/ (trial ver works fine) that allowed me to see my phone on my computer. I was then able to backup my data to the storage card. I reflashed the phone and it’s worked fine afterwards.
yeah man thats what happened to me exactly... im reflashing the official wm6 rom now... ill post what happens... thanks

damn it didnt work with me my screen still goes in and out when it chooses to. and it is my dpad b/c it stops working when the screen is gonna go..
Hi,
Try tightening the screw behind the red hang up button on the dpad. There is a component behind there which causes this problem. If tightening doesn't work try loosening. It's all to do with the pressure on the chip. Very odd problem.
Also try squeezing the bottom right hand corner of the phone and SR.
Bonkers solution for a bonkers problem but it certainly fixed one of mine.
Good luck!
yes, the screw tightening/unloosing thing works for me. same thing happened when i dropped my unit. i even completely dismantled it (managed to fix the microsd card spring). something loose with the connections.
niec guys thanks... i will try the tightening and loosening the screw... i tried holding down the bottom right and SR didn't work but thanks anway... i guess i have to buy a screw driver to open this thing up... god i remember when i had to take apart my mpx 220 im getting flashbacks!!!
Had exactly the same problem but mine was due to an phone shop employee dropping it. It would do exactly the same as yours. Sometimes it would work fine and once when I reflashed it the problem went away for a few days but if came back.
I used to control it using Soti pocket controller but them migrated to Net Support as that allowed me to control over wifi. In the end had to get it replaced.
I got my hermes from my friend, (HTC X01HT), she didnt want it because she dropped it and the ringer didnt work. it had only gotten unplugged, so i opened it, plugged it in, and had an awesome phone.
I dont think this is normal, but from the time she gave it to me, the screen made an awful highpitched ringing noise, (very uni-directional, it was weird).
Anyways...
now, the screen is just white. for a little while i could get the screen back, just by opening and closing the slider and hitting the power button a couple times.
Sometimes the today would display, then it would jarble up a little bit then fade to white, but i cant even get it to do that anymore.
Anyone else seen this issue? i'd hate to get rid of a perfectly awesome phone.
Thanks!
(also, if someone could post a picture of the device locked screen, where you have to enter a PIN to use the phone, that would be great, im trying to get into the phone with activesync, but its locked, and i dont know where to push the buttons.)
thanks!

Looks like the screen is unplugged, really. Maybe you need to disassemble further, like http://www.pdacenter.ru/razborka/razbor_hermes/ shows?
keep in mind, it worked fine for almost three weeks before the screen issue started... but i will try that when i get my hands on a small flathead again.
There's a whitescreen & D-Pad failure issue that can be caused by many things, including DROPPING the phone.
I wrote a guide about it which seems to be quite successful for many people.

so after trying a hard-reset, (which somehow displayed on teh screen), and clicking no, i was able to get the screen back... only this time with the moved screen problem, wrapping around at the top about 1mm.... and the buttons didnt work.
i tried your guide, but now im stuck at the white screen again... :/

I JUST got my LG G2 from sprint less than 4 hours ago and as soon as i got home i rooted it using ioroot25 that i found somewhere online (if its important i can dig up the link but figure its probably irrelevant) and installed TWRP recovery, made a backup, not a single issue, then all of a sudden half hour later i pick it up and turn it on and the screen is mostly white with yellow lines (that move/respond to touch and whats supposed to be going on on the screen) and it will not show any sort of picture just kinda yellow fuzz lines...it looks just like some phones ive seen with cracked/ faulty LCDs but if i hold the power button and up or down to hard reset it, the LCD starts working again upon boot, and continues to work untill the LCD turns off for the first time after booting and i try to wake the phone again, every time i turn the screen on when its on it goes back to fuzzy lines with no way to make it start working other than restarting the phone with the buttons on the back.
anybody ever seen anything like this before? it cant be a broken or cracked lcd cuz when it first boots it shows a crystal clear screen and everything works fine untill the first time the screen turns off...im guessing i am more than likely going to end up making a trip back out to the sprint store tomorrow for a manufacturer defect replacement? any insight into this strange problem would be greatly appreciated!

Faced similar problem with LS980
I am also facing similar problem with LS980.
Only additional mistake i have made is -
I have installed TWRP recovery for D802 instead of LS980(Seller labeled it as D802). After reboot into recovery mode, My lcd showing only lines.
Any suggestion/help ?
Hi,
I installed the cyanogenmod 11 nightly like a week ago on my galaxy note 2 and all was running perfectly until this morning.
When I woke up this morning the phone screen was black. The phone is actually working, I can hear emails notifications, phone ringing etc.
The buttons light up when i press them. When I connect it to the PC I can browse the phone contents etc. All seems to function except the screen.
The battery is charged. I tried to remove the battery for a long time and try again but still nothing.
I can't get into recovery or download mode as the screen is blank (sometimes there is a like a weird area at the top where there are like different colored pixels present). I know people will say the screen might be damaged but last night before I went to bed it was all fine, the phone was placed on the table, and this morning when I picked it up screen is blank.
I want to flash back the stock firmware. However I can't get into download mode in order to use Odin. Is there any other way to get into download mode or hardware reset the phone?
Any suggestions are welcomed.
EDIT: The touch screen also seems to work when I touch it as I can for example call numbers for which I had speeddial scortcuts but it is still completely blank.
I think this is hardware issue. You must replace the screen

Yeah I think so too. I've sent it to Samsung.
It was rooted and had cyanogenmode so probably I have no warranty
However I managed to install stock ROM so hopefully they won't (can't) notice.
Hi. Here is a tip that may help anyone to get photos off an unresponsive and dead looking LGG3. I tried and failed to boot the phone using all ways that others have tried so after connected it to a Macbook I managed to get all photos and videos off!
Here's how: take SIM out, leave battery in, switch phone on and while the led flashes blue/green (the screen is still black), log on the LG, connect to the Mac, the app Photos opens, recognises the phone and begins reading memory. (the screen remains black throughout)
Now copy them: > Import all new photos (keep scrolling down the list as it may time out if you leave it),
Now copy them to a folder: >file >export >export unmodified (keeps the metadata). The files end up in date folders.
The phone can now get fixed as it doesn't matter if the memory get wiped in the process.
I hope that this helps someone and it may work with other phones, so give it a try if all else fails.
