[Q] Help.Galaxy Gio don't receive sms - Samsung Galaxy Gio GT-S5660

Hi @ all.
I'm a newbie and I hope to find a solution for my problem.
let me explain it:I've got a Galaxy Gio,rooted, with a CM 7.2 based Rom.
Sometimes I can't receive any messages from my contacts though I can still send!
I've found a way to fix it putting the sim card from the galaxy to my old phone (nokia 2330),switching it on and waiting for the incoming messages (the same that don't come on the smartphone) and then putting the sim card back on Samsung. (I might consider it as a reset)
It's not a convenient and practical solution,so I would like to know if someone either's got my same problems and if there's a way to fix in a more comfortable way!
Thank you
Solpic

try rebooting, and did you search this cuz im pretty sure that others have had this problem too
also double check cdma vs gsm
I have this same problem. I can get calls, but they can't hear me.
Sent from my MSM using XDA App
yeah I rebooted several times, but still no luck. Yes, I carefully went through numerous posts, but still no luck. Thanks for the quick response. Any additional advice, let me know.

in order for your mic to work in calls you have to push vol up or vol down once in-call, i know its a pain in the ass but its what we got right now
that is commonly talked about in the main sticky thread
Known issue. Several fixes are listed. Some say messing with volume makes it work, others say flipping speakerphone on/off fixes it. Let us know.
Either way, the call voicemail in WinMo while booting Android trick always fixes this. We're working on something more permanent, but this only seems to affect GSM devices for whatever reason.

you may have to delete your data.img and start over
and did you format your sd card before putting android on it? i havent heard of this problem specifically but i know that a used sd card has caused problems
thanks guys. I will perform the formatting and then give it a shot. Let's see
any luck with reformating the card? i get the same problem. I can make calls, i get email, people can text me, but when people call me it goes straight to voicemail. i dont think this is the same problem others are talking about with the mic or speakers working during incoming calls. i cant find answers to our problem.
I had this problem two days ago. Deleting data.img worked for me. If you do that, just make sure to back up anything you don't want to lose before you do so.

there are different issues with it now as opposed to back then though generally each case has a different fix
I have the same issue. I can call, texting, and internet all work just fine. I do not receive calls. When someone calls me, it rings on their end and just goes to voicemail. My phone's, sleep indicator goes from green to orange, but no ring.
I have done a clean install, formatted sd, even did a clean install of windows mobile. It used to work fine with the older kernel, pre-10/30. Went back to them but still having the issue.
this is simple enough, our android port isnt 100% it wont be for a while, and calling wont be right for a while either, the easiest thing to do is to just avoid calls in android
when we can flash android to our phone through an nbh, that is when there will be no problems with calls
Try this:
I have had this receive calls bug myself. It is back and forth between kernel changes. I have had it when it seemed no one had this problem. Alls I can say is try this:
1. Reformat sd card using HP format tool, which can easily be found on google or searching this forum.
2. Use the rar from the website instead of the install cab. Extract it's contents to your sd card, then delete your data.img file. Use the kernel from 11/03 from the following site, http://glemsom.users.anapnea.net/android2/htc-msm-linux/
3. Now boot up XDAndroid for your 1st time. It will make a new data.img file for you. This 1st boot take about 5 minutes since it is making a new data.img file for you. Once it boots, call a friend and tell them to call you right back. You might even wanna try this in WinMo once 1st just to assure that Droid is getting everything it needs to set itself up.
Once you do this you should be golden. I have tried all kinds of stuff, but this is what worked for me. If it still doesn't fix the prob try the newest kernel from 11/11. I haven't tried it, but it may or may not work for you. Give it a shot. The whole process shouldn't take more than 20 min or so, assuming you don't have to copy a bunch of stuff from your sd card before you flash it.
Good luck, post if this fixes your problem.

I hope you have your personal info backed up. If the device no longer recognizes your PIN, the only recourse is to hard reset. This is a problem of WM. It's not common, but it does happen more often than it should. If you can, I would recommend using a different lock screen, like S2U2. That way, if it ever "forgets" your PIN, there's still a way around it.
Well most of the stuff is on the memory card, but I only updated about 60 names into my contacts list hours before and I didn't get a chance to back those up!!!
Incidentally, Vodafone told me to go into any store and ask them for a new SIM card to see if this would fix it. Will this method actually work?

No. The Vodafone rep probably thought you meant a SIM PIN lock. It is possible to require a PIN for sending calls. If that is your problem, then a new SIM will fix it. If it is the device PIN that lets you into the phone, then a hard reset is your only recourse, unfortunately. Once you get it back up and running, I'd still suggest using S2U2 to avoid this problem again. The only reason to use the WM PIN lock is if your Exchange account requires it.

[Q] Problems after upgrading to Gingerbread

Hey guys
I am really desperate and would do whatever it takes to sort out those issues or at least some of them!
My DHD was 2.2 and then the upgrade for 2.3 was available, the official one, so I downloaded it and upgraded my phone. It's not rooted, nor do I know what that is. Yes, I'm really that clueless when it comes to android devices. So anyway, after the upgrade, I encountered a problem where the phone cannot differentiate between two similar numbers and would receive phone calls and messages from both contacts as if they were from one person. The phone keeps asking me if I want to link the two numbers and I always say no, yet this didn't solve it. I tried deleting them and saving them again, but no luck! so I asked around and someone suggested that I format the device and and delete the names and save them again.
I did that and it just caused me more problems!! -_- The battery does not last longer than 9 hours with regular use and 12 hours with no use at all (when I'm sleeping), before the format it lasted for more than 21 hours with regular use and more than an entire day when I'm not using it that much. another problem is that now, the wifi signal is much worse than it used to be! You will ask, are there any applications running in the background? no there aren't! I changed the settings to the way it used to be before formatting the device.
Guys, if anyone can help me, it's going to be you!! Please help me This is really driving me crazy!!
and one last thing, I have a lot of numbers that are exactly the same except for one digit difference! more than 10 and those numbers are for people that I contact a lot, so you can see how this is such a pain in the butt!
I would really appreciate it if someone would give me a suggestion or a solution!! Thank you so much in advance!!

Can't send SMS and Calls after 4.3 update

I saw a topic almost the same as mine but I don't really understand what they're all saying as I am an Android Noob.. I think my case is different because I upgraded my phone without using the leaked one..
I just upgraded my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 to 4.3 last Tuesday, 12/24/13 and today, I noticed that I can't send and receive SMS and Calls on my phone. I don't know if the problem is my phone or my sim card. I tried restarting the phone and reinserting the sim. I almost tried everything. I can't try a new sim because I have no extra micro sim in my house.
When I send a text, it says "currently unable to send your message. it will be sent when the service becomes available" then it goes on a message loop. When I try to call someone, it says "Not registered on network". The signal bar is full though.
Is there a way to solve this issue without having to root my phone? I still have it on warranty and I can't really follow complicated instructions since I'm new to Android.
if there is really no way of solving this issue, then i'll go to the SSC. however, i really want to fix this alone cause' i'm pretty sure that they'll wipe off everything from my phone. if wiping every off of my phone will solve the issue, than i guess i'll just have to give it to SSC.
Thank you.

[Q] Disconnected because service is unavailable

Hoping someone can provide some direction. First and foremost I am not a HTC savvy so although there are a few threads here about the same issue none of them relate to me as I have not rooted the phone nor flashed to custom ROMs or anything to that nature. I am simple user of the phone... Now.. to the topic.. so I bought this phone for my brother in law last year as a birthday present, and at the time I had a working phone so I didnt put my mind too much to it.. but I did liked the phone very much. Two months ago, I decided to purchase one of these, so I bougtht an HTC ONE X Phone S720e Android 32GB 8MP 3G WiFi GPS Bluetooth Unlocked White. I don´t recall what versión of Android it carried at the time but looking at the specs it should had come with Android 4.0.3. After loading it up, transfering my files on to it and loading some basic apps, whatsapp, email, Skype... it off coursed asked for a software update two times which I went ahead and did. The last one it installed added Android 4.2.2 and HTC Sense 5. It was working fine, layout changed considerably... now after doing another of the updates to applications and software, specifically the transfer files update it suddenly quit recognizing data services completely. I though it might be something with the micro sim, so I tried testing a couple of others, it didnt make a difference so I decided to back up my contacts and information I had on the phone and did a Factory reset. It wipped it clean but issue remains the sames, it is unable to even recognize the sim card is missing and when I go into settings I see the message Disconnected because service is unavailable.
Reading online, saw a few folks stating that this situation was related to software updates.. so I was wondering if I could get some help on how to get this fixed. Not sure what to do, downgrade to 4.0.3 or how could I get it resolved so appreciate some direction here.
If you go to settings - about - phone identity, does it still shows the imei ? Seen many people here having their imei gone from their phone and becomes an iPod since we can't write it back. Tho you are on stock, so better send it for repair.

It shows up as unknown actually... is this a software related issue then? Im concerned about the other phone going through the same situation... should no updates be installed to it then? That makes it fairly useless and might prefer to send it back and try to get a refund instead.
same problem for me, still wait for fix
