I was trying to repair the broken glass on my wife's Galaxy Note 2 (the I317 version) and wound up accidentally tearing a small piece of the ribbon that is glued to the back of the lcd. ( The large, flat peice). Does anyone know where I can buy a replacement for that part? I think its part of the digitizer for the stylus but, I haven't really found anything that is the same.

Argh, cracked the screen on my 6 week old note 2. everything is shattered around the back button but it all still works fine. My galaxy s2 survived the same fall several times, stupid fat note.
I'm basically stuck with replacing the screen and the digitiser for £180 right? Any UK recommendations? I'm worried its never going to line up the same as it does now
I dropped mine and its cracked in the top right, great phone, **** glass

You can replace glass only ( 20-30$ on ebay ) . You will have too heat up the screen with hairdryer and remove peaces of cracked screen. Its a bit annoying job but nothing complicated. There is enough videos on youtube. After you carefully remove old glass from screen you can apply new glass you bought from ebay. Used to change cracked glasses on several phones and all of them still works perfectly.

Cracked mine too. But I already bought a new glass on ebay and changed it. Works as good as stock glass.

Mine dropped from two feet and hairline cracked across the whole screen. I bought the full assembly LCD/digitizer. Did the repair per LE55ONS. AOK now. afterwards, I tried to pry apart the digitizer glass. In my Note II it is bonded with transparent gum covering the entire LCD. No way to replace only the digitizer on my version of the Note II
Why do you keep reposting your comments about your dropped from a height...
One post is enough.

Just had someone bring me a Galaxy Note 2 to repair and they bought the replacement part off ebay. However all they have got is just a front piece of glass with no digitizer attached, is this correct? Normally im used to front screens having the digitizer attached or is it easy to detach from the broken old screen
Is there a guide anywhere for this?
There's a few threads on this around, but as far as I know, you need to use a heat gun to remove the glue on the digitizer.

no way mate. don't bother to anything with that cheapo. glass is always attached to the digitizer. they bought the cheapest thing they found.
i have found over the years that saving some money is not the best choice in comparison to user experience or other arising problems.

this is cheaper than ebay which they ask for 166 pounds
Yeah, heat gun will melt the adhesive enough to separate the lcd. But its a very, very difficult process that will more likely than not end up with a damaged lcd or poor reseal.

mariosraptor is right. Glass is always sold with digitizer (it is one item). I haven't heard about clean glass without capacitive layer. You can buy either digitizer glass or complete digitizer glass with factory glued LCD module. This one's more expensive, but you have less work with replacing.
Anyway: buying only digitizer glass for this kind of phones (Note 2, S3, iPhone 4<, newer HTCs...) is waste of time and nerves. It is nearly impossible to separate LCD from digitizer. Buying complete set of digitizer & LCD is the best what you can do for your phone.
Yeah i didn't think the glass came seperate from the digitizer, i have repaired over 400 iphones and have done about 20 galaxy s2 and s3's and never have i seen just the piece of glass without a digitizer on it, i will tell the woman she needs a whole new screen, i think she did go for the cheapest option
This is actually what she ordered:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-Gray-...s=63&clkid=5413496726471672632&_qi=RTM1319883
It obviously doesn't have flex, so it is only pure glass. I don't understand, why would any serious seller offer this kind of items.
So I dropped my phone and it cracked. The sprint repair center said they didn't have extra screens and I had to pay to get a replacment.
So I'm going to try and fix this myself. My question is, does anyone know if there is like 2 separate screens on the epic? I'm guessing something like the gorilla screen and then the actual inner screen? Because what cracked is only the outside and mostly by the capitive buttons. Could I order a replacement screen and just fix this my self? Would it be hard to do it?

May just be easier to replace the entire top sliding section, including screen.

The glass layer and the LCD is sealed together professionally by Samsung for better display effects, so you have to replace them together. I've done the change a year ago and it cost me ~$70. I'm in China though.

How much do you think that would cost? And can you show me where to find that because I'm searching on ebay and can't find just the top screen part.

I'm going to T-Mobile and probably getting a S4 so I'm not trying to pay that much for the Epic, it's going to be my game and music phone only.
I found this,
http://www.ebay.com/itm/for-Sprint-...e_Replacement_Parts_Tools&hash=item43ae84d53f
not sure if that's what I need though. Never mind, that's just the screen I wouldn't be able to put that on my phone. So, where can I find the whole top sliding part?
If i were you, i would get a bricked or water damaged or broken USB port epic off ebay for like $20 (i got one with broken usb for $14) and just switch out the motherboards. That is the easiest method and cheapest

Ya I've seen a few epics that were up for sale for parts and repair. Ill probably do that because the crack gets worse everyday and it started going to the top. I was first planing on just putting black electric tape on the capitive lights (that's the worst part of the crack) and just putting a screen protector over it and use the nav bar so I won't need the buttons on the bottom lol.

Friend of mine broke his screen on his note 2 and I was wondering if I bought a dummy phone and took all the guts and put it in the dummy phone will it work or tske the screen and digitizer and replace it on the broken phone with theone from the dummy phone. Does the digitizer Eben work in the dummy phones?
Sent from my SGH-T889 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
By dummy phone like the one in display at cell stores that don't work? I don't think they even use real glass for the screen. If you want to replace screen, go in ebay or craigslist and look for a blacklisted or broken note 2

I just repaired mine. I bought the whole display assembly and backing plate for $200 off ebay. The only hard part was taking off the back housing. After removing all the screws and going around the inside of the chrome border with a guitar pick, there is a pastic clip at the top of the battery tray and you need to separate the housing from the speaker assembly before the housing comes off. The unnerving parts are removing the glued down ribbon cables for the vibrator motor and the power button. Use a pastic knife or the dull side of an exacto and slowly and patiently work the ribbon cables free. On a 10 scale where 10 is most difficult, I rate the job a 6 or 7.
The Youtube disassembly videos help a lot.
Doesnt Samsung charge 200 for screen fix including shipping and handling? Lolll you must like to live dangerously

I have replaced cracked Galaxy SIII glass at home with new gorilla glass, bought from all4cellular store . I have replaced the glass using the toolkit which i bought with this and hair dryer.
In this process, i happend to tear the 'return key' cable near home button(right button cable inside the glass), so i have not affixed the new glass with the existing adhesive tightly.
Now what i have is my S3 screen does not turn on even my could hear some sound and feel vibrations.
Is this ('tearing of return key' cable near home button) cause of my phone screen not turning on.
I will post images of my phone.
Can any one help me with my situation, any suggestion or comments?
Let me know if you can not understand the situation.
Sounds like you did more the damage the glass and back button. Take it apart again and make sure everything is connected correctly. It sounds like your going to have to buy a replacement (glass and digitizer as one or just try to buy the digitizer alone) which will not be cheap compared to what I've seen used S3's sell for lately, you might as well buy a used S3 if the display on yours is damaged.

its still in warranty-can this help me
Thank you for very quick reply to my post.
its still in Samsung warranty, can this help me to fix this, by sending them this phone and explain them what i have done.
thanks,
Rajesh.
Samsung might say no, because you have tampered with the device (taking it apart and replacing the glass). You can try though, they might not even notice the phone has been taken apart.
