Let me start by saying I have never Fashed,Rooted, or anything else but use a cell. I hooked up with sprint for 4 S3's and realize now that the service is horrible. There is only two places I go, home and Yuma Arizona and both have zero service. radioshack wants to sell me two signal boosters at a wapping $500.00 and I say BS. I found the PRL numbers but my phone has the update that hides the PRL buttom on the ##3282# screen. I have searched all around and found one post that touched on the subject about needing to flash an app but after that this is all greek to me. I someone can explain the process i would be very appreciative. remember this would have to be very detailed as I am clueless to even begin to flash.
Well first of all, PRLs have absolutely nothing to do with signal. You will get no speed boost unless 800smr is added to the prl AND enabled in your area. Read through the "What is a PRL" article in the first of the two links below
Every Sprint PRL (read through this carefully, and find out what a PRL is and is NOT)
As for the PRL write function, go to xda-university, user section, read up on what a recovery is and how to flash zips
Next, go to the following thread and download the latest one, it works for MB1 as well even though it doesnt say it
To flash that zip and add the PRL write function, you need to be rooted
If you dont wanna root, Digiblur has a guide on how to put on a specific PRL through a computer in the link^ above
Flashable zip to enable PRL writing on MA4 and up:

Did you not look at the coverage maps before signing up?
If your service sucks at home, you can call sprints customer service and probably get a free airwave. It's like a mini cell tower that piggy backs off a broadband internet connect which you would have to have.
You can try updating your profile. Last but not least i believe you have 15 day period to return everything.

Before I ask my question let me address the trolls that might mess up this thread and end up getting it locked.....
1. I'm not trying to ask for a guide
2. I'm not trying to debate whether is illegal or legal to have a flash evo on boost
3. I'm just asking a question, nothing more...nothing less
OK with that said, I wanted to know if anyone on Boost Mobile using the original EVO has successfully got 4G to work using Clear and if you did, how are your speeds?
The reason I'm asking is because I saw this video about a week or two ago and was like "OK, this is a joke and the guy is just full of it" BUT as I started to do my own research on it, I found that it might be possible. NOT as easy as the guy below makes it seem BUT it MIGHT be possible....

K, I'm not sure about Boost Mobile as I am not on their network, BUT, as I am on a different network myself. In my case, MobiPCS, which is basically the same type of carrier anyway. However, I'm guessing that it should apply with ye too.
I'm in the process of tying my 4G to Clear too. In fact, I've already made the modifications on my e4g to enable clearwire service on it and I've already confirmed that it works. I've as yet to actually activate my service (meaning unrestricted access to the internet) on it tho.
The reason why I think it should apply to you is that all the modifications are in the basic settings of the phone which has nothing to do with what rom you are using.
Before I start, I should mention that to cover xda and mine ass:
"You are responsible for any modifications done to your phone, the information provided are for educational and informational purposes. Any modifications done to your phone may result in an unuseable (bricked) phone which will be your responsibility to deal with. Under no circumstances will xda nor I will be held responsible for any damages or problems arising from any modifications done by you on your phone."
Ok, now that the legalese are out of the way...
Go to Phone and enter "##3282#" on the dial pad.
The phone will then initialize the EPST (don't ask me what epst means, I dunno ...yet).
It will then ask you which Mode you want to be in. I suggest View first to familiarize yourself without chance of screwing up something in there. Be aware a incorrect setting could result in a bricked phone, so be careful. When you are ready, select Edit Mode. Then phone will ask you for the MSL code. There are ways of finding out that code, but I won't get into that now, you can find that information by searching the forums.
Hit WiMAX > Realm
It probably will still be the default "sprintpcs.com." Change that string to "clearwire-wmx.net"
Hit the menu button and select "Commit Modifications." Be patient, it can take up to a few minutes for the phone to do the modifications.
You will know if the modifications took if the NAI string changes from
"[email protected]" to "[email protected]" Remember, "device_MAC_address" is the actual 12-digit MAC address of your phone. This is important: make SURE your listed mac address MATCHES the actual mac address printed on the back of the phone under the battery. If it's incorrect, I'm sure you can fix that, but you'll have to search these forums for that information as I did'nt have that problem with my e4g, but I DO have that problem with my e3D, but haven't gotten around to dealing with that (have other problems on my e3D that requires more immediate attention).
Back out of EPST and go to Setting > Wireless & networks > 4G settings. Click on 4G to turn on the antenna. It should then start saying it's connecting to network. Once connected it probably will say "Connected to Sprint" when you're actually connected to clearwire. I understand you can change the above string to "Connected to Clearwire" but I don't know how ...yet. I wanna do this myself too. Probably have to use Root Explorer (or similar software and edit something).
Go to your favorite browser and try connect to a website. Instead it should be automatically redirected to clear.com's page. This is normal when you don't have an account/service associated with the connecting device mac address. It should ask you somewhere whether you want to add this device. Click on it and it should then go to a page where it will ask you whether you want to use the connecting device. Check the bottom and make sure the mac address given there matches your device. If it is the same, you're good to go and activate service or associate that device to an existing service. Be aware that you can only have up to 3 devices associated to a given service, pending on the plan you choose. I currently have the Pick-2 plan and will soon upgrade to the Pick-3 plan which allows 3 different devices on the same account.
Once you activate new or associate an existing service to your device, Clearwire will add your mac address to it's server's list of devices authorized to connect to the clear service. And voila! your online with clear!
Hope this helps. I don't see any reason why you shouldn't be cleared to connect your boosted e4g (sorry, couldnt resist the pun).

Thanks dude!!
Unfortunately, I called Clear today before doing all this editing and stuff AND found out that service isn't provided in the Pensacola area
I WILL keep this mind for when I'm in Jacksonville, FL which service is provided and try it out....THANKS again Lanaka!

Dude, chill. If you READ before posting, you MAY note that there is no phone cloning nor any subscriber fraud involved here. All we are doing is to tell the phone where to go connect for 4G service. No fraud involved when youre hooking up YOUR own phone to YOUR own phone and/or 4G service.
Oh another thing, ...lay off on the excessive abuse of red text. That is as tasteless as writing an entire post in ALL-CAPS.
Jeez, the immaturity of peoples nowdays....

Ahh, thats a bummers! I know the feeling bro! I dont have clear Clear coverage (pardon the pun, its NOT intentional, hehe) at home. However i have pretty good signal at most of the other places where i'd connect. I already have both mobpcs and clear services, separately tho, and generally hapy with both.

P.S.: before any other jacks start flaming away, please note the above is MY opinion only. If you aint got nothing to contribute but negativity, id rather you NOT post a reply AND keep it to yerself. Thank you very much!
For some reason when i did this. i put the clear-wmx.net in EPST and commited. after that i turned 4g on and it didnt connect to clears website it just started working but its slow and btw i dont have any type of clear account

Aloha Alienx.
Based on what you wrote it appears that you re not actually connecting to Clear's 4G service. You first must make sure that you are actually in the service coverage area. You can check by hitting their coverage map page:
http://www.clear.com/coverage
Next, check your notification bar, which service icon is on? 4G, 3G, 2X or 1X? Or is wifi on (the rainbow-like symbol)? I suspect you are either not in a service area and using 3G/2X/1X or using a slow wifi.
The reason why I think so is because if you try access Clear, their servers will first check your connecting device's mac address against their list of authorized devices. If it is not on their list your connection will auto directed to their web pages to be given an opportunity to sign up to their services. At this point you can then let them save your device's mac addy to the server's list of authorized accessing devices (assuming you signed up and paid for their services).
-Lance
PS: a final thing, make sure the EPST has the correct mac addy as your device's id. It has been know to happen where the phone's id number in the software side did NOT match what was in the hardware.

I have been at this for several days now. i have a sprint evo 4g that i am "flashing" to virgin mobile.
i havnt got talk and txt going yet, i get the error 16, buit i dont get the error 16 on the doner phone.
how do i fix this,
i have double, triple, checked the settings (this is the frist time i have done this so i am no professional).
i have looked and read everything i can find. i have read that you need to call sprint customer service. i wasnt sure if that is true (because the doner phone dosnt get the error)
i have not done the data part yet (AAA) just because i havent got talk and txt working yet.
any help would be trully appreciated!
thanks
Have you flashed the virgin mobile firmware for it? Do you have the appropriate radios and prl flashed onto the phone? You will need to activate your virgin mobile esn number by calling them if you have everthing else flashed to work with your phone. However I and others are not allowed to give you step by step instructions because doing the esn thing is illegal and xda is a law abiding organization. I hope some of this information has shed some light to your predicement. You will have to search google for the rest.

Number one, you have to finish the flashing completely. Follow all the steps until your done.
After all of you info has taken into the evo, (esn, meid, etc) then you can move forward.
The error code 16 is a security feature from Sprint. Its telling them you tried activation of a phone that "may" not be correct.
When your completely done, make your first call and it should route to the error message. Stay on the line, it will be answered by a Sprint rep.
They will ask questions about your phone model, etc. OBVIOUSLY they need to know about your donor
It will take about 3 minutes, then your all set.

So I did some reading and watching of youtube videos on how to get an EVO 4G to work on Boost and I went ahead and decided to go ahead and do a phone for myself and my uncle. I got everything working (voice, data, and messaging) and I'm 99% sure that all of the settings are right, but for some reason I keep getting a "random" error 16 switch 394. I've checked over my settings on both phones over 10 times. I've matched up what was on the donor phones with what are on the EVOs multiple times in the software programs that I used to program the phones (dunno if I can say the names of the programs here or not, in my search there were many forums who had very strict rules about these kinds of things). I'm at a complete loss which is why I registered and decided to post. Hopefully I posted in the correct section...
I'll try to give you all as much information as possible. The Error 16 Switch 394 error comes up normally after I unlock the phone and make a call, HOWEVER if I hang up and try to make a call right after that, it'll go through just fine. Additionally, the phone doesn't ring more than 1-3 times. It seems like the signal is getting cut off, but is so quick that it isn't displaying it on the signal strength indicator. Also, texts come in VERY late sometimes. I had a text come in 5 hours late last night...
I updated PRL, profile, firmware; pretty much anything you can update, I did. Nothing is helping. I called Sprint and had them walk me through turning off the phone, taking the battery out, they send something to the phone, and I turn it back on. Obviously that didn't help the issue either. They then tell me that all I can do from there on out is to take the phone in...which I...obviously can't do. I've also tried ##spc# and putting both fields to 0000001234 so that when I restart the phone OTA will start. Yes, OTA starts and goes through, PRL starts and completes, and firmware update starts and completes. Still, nothing to do with fixing my problem.
The model number of my phone is PC36100
The Android version is Gingerbread 2.3.5
The baseband version is 2.15.0.12.19
The kernel version is 2.5.35.10-g94d0005, under that it says [email protected] #1, and under that it says Mon Mar 12 19:29:30 CST 2012

The PRI version is 2.33_003

When I pick recovery from that menu (I thought I had a custom recovery...guess not from the looks of it) it just comes up with Android system recovery <3e>
If anyone has any guidance that'll help me enjoy my flashed phone instead of wanting to throw it against the wall, I'd appreciate it.

Well next time you might want to place your question in Q & A where it belongs. But moving on, check out THIS THREAD. I think where you may have gone wrong is calling Sprint to help you. You may want to contact Boost Mobile instead.

I apologize. Hopefully a mod/admin can move this for me. I've checked out all of the EVO 4G/EVO3D guides on here. I've checked my settings for everything multiple times and I can't see an error anywhere. I'm not too sure if I even have the option to talk to boost. If I make a call and let it go past the error code 16, switch 394 message; it forwards me to a Sprint technician who knows that I'm on the Boost network using a (ahem) "Prevail".
All good. The fact that Sprint can tell your on the Boost Network is good. Try calling Boost Mobile from a different device, and have them walk you through device activation.

I'm an idiot. I went through it in my head and although I had the donor phones in airplane mode while flashing, I didn't have the HTC phones in airplane mode (hence Sprint was able to see everything I was doing while programming...). God...I feel so dumb. No wonder why my account was probably flagged. After turning on airplane mode, reprogramming everything, and letting the call go through after error 16 to speak to a rep to have them do the CHLS refresh, everything works. 3G is kinda slow though. I'll figure it out. Just thanking GOD that the ******* error 16 is gone! Woohoo! Hopefully this will help someone else so that they don't need to spend hours on end trying to figure out a problem that shouldn't have existed in the first place.
Moral of the story: AIRPLANE MODE IS YOUR FRIEND.
Glad your sorted. You may want to try the 3G fix for the slow internet speeds. If you do a search it should be one of the first two hits.
EDIT: Check out the link below. Just make sure to write down your info before you change anything.

I saw that earlier when searching for a solution. I KNEW that my 3G speeds were blazing while I was having error 16 problems, but I merely remembered it had to do something with one of the updates (PRL or profile). I saw a post with someone saying that they updated the PRL, THEN updated the profile. I thought he was crazy since this shouldn't have any kind of effect, but this did it. I went from timing out when trying to browse the market/google play to downloading apps within split seconds. Browsing went from unbearable to pages loading nearly instantly. Gotta love the easy fixes.
Hi, guys. I am trying to flash my Sprint GS3 to Pageplus. By using CDMA WS demo version, the voice and sms work fine right now. However, for the data, I cannot figure it out, even for the 1x speed.
I used DFS to write info into my phone by following a link on Youtube.
However, since I don't have the donor phone and only need 1x, maybe something wrong with my setting. Attached for the setting I used. I tried several times. But none of them works. After I open the mobile network, nothing happens. No icon of 1x or 3G. If I open the browser, only the error message pop up with " no signal of network" balabala.
Then, I used QPST to do that. However, when I read from the phone, error pop up with “Phone stops responding to read/write". Seems I still can write info using QPST. However, I don't know the original setting. The instruction I found only gave me the place I need to modify.
Hope something one can give me some hint to do that.
Thank you very much.

Hello, I am new here but have intermediate experience with devices.
Alright time to throw everyone for a loop lol, hopefully someone can help me out.
Here is my problem:
My phone is not connected to a network.
Here is what I have:
Samsung Galaxy S III with Metro PCS (NOT rooted, and with latest PRL and software updates)
What happened:
I woke up yesterday to find my phone not on Metros network, and not on a partner network. My 4G still works though, I can access internet but just can not call/txt or receive either.
In Settings > About Device > Status, here are some of the satus'...
Network: Searching for Service
Signal Strength: -93dBm 47asu
Mobile Network Type: LTE:14
Service State: Out of Service
Roaming: Not Roaming
My Phone Number: Unknown
Min: Unknown
PRL Version: 0
Things I've Done So Far:
Contacted Metro through phone support and Facebook support, neither could help fix the problem.
Took my phone into a Metro store and they wont honor a repair since my screen has a hairline crack in the screen. (which I will also say, they noted that already on my account...)
I've already went to *#22745927 and enabled the hidden menu multiple times (cause it disables with each restart) and I've went to **772 to view my MDN and MSID (MIN) and the MDN shows nothing and MSID has a 10 digit number (that's not the right number for my account), so I tried to edit them to the numbers that I know are correct and after I hit done, the phone restarts but then when it comes back on, nothings changed, and when viewing **772 again, the numbers don't save in the fields.
I know *#197328640# lets you access the service menu, but I don't really feel like touching any of that and making things worse (unless someone knows how to fix this issue through the service menu then ill do it)
Now that my long winded speech is done, its your turn to try and solve this dilemma and help me out please
I hope this is the right section to post in, sorry if it is not.
Thanks in advance to any help ^^ if anyone's got any other questions, ill try to answer them best as I can.

Did you IMEI change? Check if it's 004999010640000
1.) Wrong forum. You have a US Version of the S3. Not the international... Ask a mod to move it.
2.) Don't quote the WHOLE OP. Especially if you're the first flipping person to reply!

The IMEI question is still relevant, is it intact? But from what your saying it sounds like you have the old metro s3 model, meaning it's a cdma device not gsm like ours. You probably need to be in Sprints forum as their fixes for this kind of problem will likely be different than ours. I can already tell your dialer codes are different....

First of all thanks for posting
and the IMEI is fine and is there.
I got the GS3 from Metro the first day it came out.
Ok, it's probably the SCH-R530? model. Since T-Mobile bought metro they now have the SGH-T999N. The original one for them was a variant of Sprints if I remember right.
I'd just copy your OP here into a new thread there. They'll probably be better able to help than most people here.
