My phone is new and shows correct IMEI number. I have not loaded any new ROMs.
But the phone will not recognize the sim card. I have tried T Mobile and AT&T but neither will
show up. What would you advise?
Could be that sim card tray is broken.

Purchased from a retailer? Take it back. Purchased from eBay? Claim for a refund. Purchased from individual? Make sure imei is not black listed. Look at the simple tray. Does it look broken, loose? Is it something that you could see or reseat?
These are the basic guidelines. Good luck

Hello, I recently bought a T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 2 off of ebay, I put in my sim card and it doesn't read it. Originally i thought it was a hardware problem but when i typed *#06# It said IMEI Null/Null. Is there anyway i can possibly get this removed so I can use the phone? It is not rooted but I am willing to root it if it is needed to fix the problem, Thanks
This is what your post looks like while using the xda app's dark theme. I can't read it nor do I care to, just thought I'd point this out to you.

I think it's possible, but illegal to alter the imei.

Well XDA is worried about the legality, and won't allow it to be discussed here.

Well long story short my girlfriend stuck her nano sim from her iPhone 5 into my phone because her battery was dead and needed to call someone or something... and then in her attempts to get it back out she was shoving pieces of paper up into it. And then she just took the little metal piece off that goes over the top. It broke a few of the little pins off but I bent what was left of them up and the taped my sim in, but I am wanting to have a permanent fix for it so I can switch my sim out at any time if need be without having to tape it on there. Plus if I were to want to trade phones with someone on craigslist I wouldn't want to scam them and say everything was working.. HOW DO I FIX IT?

So your girlfriend broke your phone and you're not making her pay to fix it? Wow, you're a hell of a lot nicer than I would have been in that situation. Definitely let us know how it goes.
Temp lock while I read through this
Thread cleaned. Reopen.
Yes, let us know how it goes and post pics of the process, if you can.
I also broke my SIM slot (within a few minutes of unboxing the phone) trying to remove a self-cut SIM card. That didn't go so well, so I had to get it repaired.
Sent it to Samsung and got it fixed for free. They did a pretty good job and it was super fast. Took them under a week.
But yeah, I sure wish I had a good tutorial to guide me through it. I could have done it myself and not wait.
If it doesn't go well, now you know you have the Samsung repair option.
I broke my sim tray on my galaxy Nexus by using a sim adapter. I sent it in to Samsung and they labled it as BER (beyond economic repair), they wouldn't even fix it with me footing the bill. I ended up buying a new phone (GN2). Hopefully you have better luck then I did! That sucks, hope you are able to fix it!

Wow that really sucks.... I'd be beyond furious but you can take the back a loose if you have the proper tools. Get a replacement tray on ebay or Amazon and watch a how to video on YouTube. A tear down and rebuild video to be more specific.

I may get it repairs from Samsung.. What ballpark should I expect to pay for the repair from Samsung?
I am surprised an Apple user, would think that their sim card would work on anything other than their overload SKyne...Apple told them it work on.
Good morning,
I am about to trade my GS3 for a note 2. But the owner says the phone won't read the sim card. Can this be fixed

Get the IMEI number and make sure it's not being blocked or blacklisted, make sure it's not attached to EIP plan. Get the original sales receipt to verify it was purchased outright. Meet at a T Mobile store and have him remove it from his account and transfer to yours so it can't be reported stolen or lost and blacklisted down the line. Also, have the owner write out a bill of sale in the store. Anyone not willing to do this is no bueno.
As far as the SIM not being read try a different SIM while at T Mobile, that being said be careful buying these phones used, a lot of people bought them used and then the phone was blacklisted, protect yourself.

Besides the good advice from the above poster, I had a Sim tray break and since it is connected to the board, it was more expensive to fix than by a new phone. Just be very careful as said in the post above! Good luck.

i even asked a technician from my carrier to register my imei too but so far not working..
imei is still intact btw.
mm6 = phone is reported as lost or stolen
it can also mean that network was locked by carrier

If he got it in any store, even his credit card statement should suffice.

Hi.
I just recieved my new Lg g3 (D855) phone.
And even if my SIM card is insterted, I got an issue saying it's not inside.
I tried with 2 différent SIMs, and it's still the same.
Do you have any similar experiences ?
My phone is EU imported, and I use french sim cards.
Thanks for your help !
Did you buy it new or used? Sounds like sim reader is screwed.
The sim card reader are very fragile in this phone

Aw, I bought it on Amazon, sold as an occasion, Amazon said it was returned because the box was damaged.
But the phone really looked great and doesn't seem to have anything wrong.
Did you try talkin to Amazon? Or try talking to lg for warranty replacement
Sent from my LG-D852 using XDA Free mobile app
Not yet, I wanted to ask 1st if it was normal (as it is imported)
I took a closer look to the pins, and I saw that 2 of 4 are broken (the middle ones).
I hope Amazon won't act like it was my fault...
Well, they can refund me, or I can see with LG, but I've no idea what are the delays.
Lg turnaround times are like 3weeks. Plus minus shipping times , since they vary from country to country.
