Good morning,
I am about to trade my GS3 for a note 2. But the owner says the phone won't read the sim card. Can this be fixed

Get the IMEI number and make sure it's not being blocked or blacklisted, make sure it's not attached to EIP plan. Get the original sales receipt to verify it was purchased outright. Meet at a T Mobile store and have him remove it from his account and transfer to yours so it can't be reported stolen or lost and blacklisted down the line. Also, have the owner write out a bill of sale in the store. Anyone not willing to do this is no bueno.
As far as the SIM not being read try a different SIM while at T Mobile, that being said be careful buying these phones used, a lot of people bought them used and then the phone was blacklisted, protect yourself.

Besides the good advice from the above poster, I had a Sim tray break and since it is connected to the board, it was more expensive to fix than by a new phone. Just be very careful as said in the post above! Good luck.

My phone is new and shows correct IMEI number. I have not loaded any new ROMs.
But the phone will not recognize the sim card. I have tried T Mobile and AT&T but neither will
show up. What would you advise?
Could be that sim card tray is broken.

Purchased from a retailer? Take it back. Purchased from eBay? Claim for a refund. Purchased from individual? Make sure imei is not black listed. Look at the simple tray. Does it look broken, loose? Is it something that you could see or reseat?
These are the basic guidelines. Good luck

Just thought I'd share this since most companies nowadays don't give a cap about the customer...
I had an issue with my sd card mounting and dismounting on its own and being unusable and I went to SanDisk support and let them know and they sent me a brand new one free! If you have had any issues, do not hesitate to contact them because they will actually do something about it! They have a lifelong customer now.
I've had same experience with them as well, I've had Kingston do the same with ram that went bad I'll never buy anything else again

Thanks. I know what my new one will be!

Sandisk has always replaced my bad micro sd cards. All I had to do was give them the serial number off the back (get out your microscope), and then ship it in using their ups label. Week later I would get a new one.
I've done some considerable searching and can't locate a vendor that sells the sim card tray for the M8. Does anyone know of a vendor? I lost my sim card tray so my phone is basically useless right now.

I woke up this morning and noticed apps in my app tray showed signs of my SD card being disconnected. I opened Spotify and it could not locate the cache SD location. Going to try to swap my card and see if that's the issue
That is the reson to:
1.use Backup Cloud (dropbox/box with lg you should get 50GB for free only download app that sync auto and upload the pic&clips....)
2.buy a good SD (older ver of sandisk isn't working good with andoirnd) - I wish there is a list in XDA...
The SD card is most likely a bootleg or fake one and is not an actual 64GB card.
I had purchased two 64GB Samsung Pro cards off eBay (I know...) for my G3 and my wife's G3 and copied my files over and the G3 would show some of them as broken or corrupt, just like in that pic. If I had taken any pics or saved anything to the card, more files would become corrupted or just disappear.
I tried this several times and finally ran a SD read/write test on my PC and both cards came up as having only 7GB of space and not 64GB, with numerous errors. Cards were bootlegs.
So, got my money back and purchased two 64GB Samsung Pro EVO cards from Amazon and ran tests on them, no errors, no loss, actual 64GB cards and all that nice stuff.
Have had no problems as before, no stalls or delays recording 4K vids or taking pics or anything else for that matter.
I bought a unbranded 64 go SD card of eBay for 6 dollars. Tested just fine. Labeled as class 20 but I figure it is more like 6 or 4 lol.

Thats sounds better. If your card passes 39gb its real. You dont have to test all 64gb read and write takes a while. Can you post a link to the card?

fake cards are hacked to read that amount..the real ones would read 59.45..if u dont believe us try to max out the card..it would probably max out with 8gb
So far at 38 gb. For 14 dollars I would be happy with that lol.
I don't care what it reads if it writes 60gb

I concur too, that card is most likely fake. They're programmed to read at whatever the card wants to be marked as. And you can copy all the files you want onto it, but when you go to access them or other, they're either corrupt or just disappear.
To be sure of what size SD card that you have, use H2TestW to read and write to the whole card. It'll report back on what the ACTUAL memory size of the card is, if there were any errors, defects or other to it.
I had bought two Samsung Pro 64GB micro SD cards just this month on eBay (I know...) and I was able to copy over 20GB of files onto them. But when I put it in my G3, over 3/4 of the files kept saying they were corrupted or would just be empty folders. Looked around online, found H2TestW, ran the tests on both cards and they both came back as being only 7GB cards with numerous errors and defects. I was only getting 1.5MBps write speeds. Bootleg cards.
I bought Samsung Pro EVO 64GB from Amazon, ran same tests, actual 64GB cards with not a single error or defect.
