Broke my sim tray - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note II

Well long story short my girlfriend stuck her nano sim from her iPhone 5 into my phone because her battery was dead and needed to call someone or something... and then in her attempts to get it back out she was shoving pieces of paper up into it. And then she just took the little metal piece off that goes over the top. It broke a few of the little pins off but I bent what was left of them up and the taped my sim in, but I am wanting to have a permanent fix for it so I can switch my sim out at any time if need be without having to tape it on there. Plus if I were to want to trade phones with someone on craigslist I wouldn't want to scam them and say everything was working.. HOW DO I FIX IT?

So your girlfriend broke your phone and you're not making her pay to fix it? Wow, you're a hell of a lot nicer than I would have been in that situation. Definitely let us know how it goes.

Temp lock while I read through this
Thread cleaned. Reopen.

Yes, let us know how it goes and post pics of the process, if you can.
I also broke my SIM slot (within a few minutes of unboxing the phone) trying to remove a self-cut SIM card. That didn't go so well, so I had to get it repaired.
Sent it to Samsung and got it fixed for free. They did a pretty good job and it was super fast. Took them under a week.
But yeah, I sure wish I had a good tutorial to guide me through it. I could have done it myself and not wait.
If it doesn't go well, now you know you have the Samsung repair option.

I broke my sim tray on my galaxy Nexus by using a sim adapter. I sent it in to Samsung and they labled it as BER (beyond economic repair), they wouldn't even fix it with me footing the bill. I ended up buying a new phone (GN2). Hopefully you have better luck then I did! That sucks, hope you are able to fix it!
Sent from my SGH-T889 using xda premium

Wow that really sucks.... I'd be beyond furious but you can take the back a loose if you have the proper tools. Get a replacement tray on ebay or Amazon and watch a how to video on YouTube. A tear down and rebuild video to be more specific.

I am surprised an Apple user, would think that their sim card would work on anything other than their overload SKyne...Apple told them it work on.

One thing I noticed is that if you cut your sim card, you don't have to pay the $36 upgrade fee for AT&T to change your active sim card. (Or at least they haven't hit me up for it yet. I ordererd my phone through amazon).

Bought a Galaxy S III off Craigslist - Stuck in Demo Mode - Fixed it.

So, some n00b tried to pull a fast one on me and sell me a S3 that was stuck in demo mode. Didn't notice when I first got it because I was in a rush. Phone is absolutely in MINT condition, looks like it's been in a box forever. I'm thinking it was owned by a store to display in a transparent cube box thing? I don't know. I know it isn't stolen, though. It has all the paperwork and whatnot.
Anyway, it kept booting into demo mode, and it wasn't just an app, it was a bunch, it didn't allow USB Debugging or mounting, etc.
So, I tried to ODIN, same thing.. it formatted everything, but demo mode was still there.
I researched, seems no one has had this problem.
So, me not trying to panic, I thought logically. I thought it may be written in the NAND.
Therefore, a simple tick with ODIN 'NAND Erase All' did the trick.
Just wanted to share my story with you guys. This S3 will be my mom's phone as I have a white one.
Happy flashing!

It really sounds stolen, I can't think of why a device intended for purchase would ever have demo mode on, and paperwork is easy enough to fake. Although hopefully for your sake it's not! It's possible an employee stole it, so it's possible it won't ever be reported as stolen.
craigslist bs
Just recently had issues with few people on craigslist, in the past month two issue. Never once have I had an issue before with any trade or purchase before.
Issue one: traded my galaxy s2 for a galaxy nexus, everything looked to be in working order. Well it has never crossed my mine to check the "usb port" to ensure it charges properly. Ended up sending it in to samsung for repair, that was a nightmare its been nearly a month and I've had no updates on my phone plus it was suppose to be shipped out twice already yet it wasn't. Total debacle! Complaint has been issued and working to resolve it.
Issue 2: Purchased a galaxy note for $260 box and everything with it. I had planned to purchase and trade it for a galaxy s3, set up times to meet both people. Purchased the note that morning at 8:00am and then met up with the seller of the galaxy s3 by about 9am. We exchange phones and check them out the, note excellent condition and gs3 was as well. Seller was unable to test it on t-mobile since he didn't have sim coming from the gs3. Galaxy s3 was unlocked which I need since I'm on local carrier. Few days go buy and I am contacted by the person who I traded the note to. Well it has been blocked by t-mobile, (fraud).
I never worried about this since I'm on a local carrier and once the phone is unlocked I'm good to go. First time ever for this to happen, I have always been honest and open about my transactions I do on ebay & craigslist. Its buyer beware as usual,

It was most likely stolen by an associate from the store. Demo phones come with all the paperwork it just states demo on the box somewhere (usually but not always). So definitely stolen, there isn't any other way to get a demo.

Most likely a store demo that was stolen. 50/50 shot of it being blacklisted or not. Depends on if the store it was stolen from was lazy and just deactivated the sim that was in it and called it good or took it further and sent in the imei to get blocked.

Serious Problem! Gnex

Hi Everybody I have a white gnex and I switch between my note 2 and this daily. I use a mini Sim to regular Sim adapter with the nexus. Well about 2 days ago I went to use my nexus and I went to take the adapter out the phone. Well it didn't come out. So I applied a little force and it can out. Now it won't read any Sim. Agreed with previous poster.
Also it is not recommended that you mess with the sim slot this often, those are not constructed with high use swapping in mind as a sd card (bad example) slot is.

What Should I Do?

On Nov 6th I met up with someone at Starbucks from Craigslist to purchase the Galaxy Note 2 for $450 with box charger and instructions. I checked the esn number and it was clean. I inserted my sim card and was able to use the phone. On Friday Dec 28th, my phone all of sudden couldn't go on the web using 4g and I couldn't make and receive incoming calls. I called T-Mobile using a landline and they said my imei has been blocked. I went to the T-Mobile store and paid $50+ tax to use a loaner phone because I can't be without a phone. Today T-Mobile told me that this phone can't be activated due to equipment installment program. What should I do? Should I sell this phone on eBay and specify that this imei is blacklisted? Maybe someone from around the world could use this phone unlocked. Right now the phone is LOCKED. Should unlocking be my expense or should it be the buyers expense to unlock this phone? Should I use the money I get from selling this device to buy a brand new galaxy note 2?
Sent from my SGH-T889 using xda premium
Track down the creep who sold it to you and get your money back. Call him and let him know you have contacted the police and they are reviewing the tape from Starbucks and you fully expect to get your money back. Have him meet you at the police station for the refund.
Hey, may not work but worth a try. I'd rattle the hell out of him and would not leave him alone. He knew what he was up to and essentially stole your money. That's not ok.
Outside of saber rattling, it's now your problem. If you like the device enough, just pay whatever T-Mo needs to get it turned back on. You got a good price so whatever they need should still be cheaper than buying a new one.
Edit: well, who knows what T-Mobile needs paid. It may be worth it to just sell as blacklisted and call it a day.
The person who sold me the phone is the only one could make payments toward the phone. Its a lady that sold me the phone.

This is the second time I am hearing of this. I blame tmobile. If you call them to ask if the phone is clean to purchase and they tell you yes then it's their fault for not making sure it doesn't have any outstanding balance. To the Op you have yet to explain why you haven't contacted the seller. The other poster didn't try to contact the seller either. So either you are both idiots or maybe you are trying to figure out how to unlock a stolen phone. And please don't say you can't find the owner because tmobile had there information and with a push from the police they have to give it up.

So instead of dealing with the person that sold you the phone you are going to unlock it? Once again I am calling BS on this and now you have people helping you unlock a phone that is not legally yours.
....... But unlocking won't unblock the IMEI o.0 Unless you're planning to use it on another carrier than Tmo, unlocking won't allow you to use the phone.

I have to agree with this. Tmo wouldn't just tell you the phone was clear & then turn around & say "Oops, we meant to say it's blocked!" If they actually made a mistake when the OP first called in, he needs to escalate until they either unblock him or credit him for a comparable new phone. This whole story just smells funny. I know that if I had just dropped hundreds of dollars on a phone that I couldn't even use thanks to the seller's negligence/fraudulence, I'd be sitting in the police station filing a report within minutes of finding out it was blocked. I can't even imagine just saying "oh well, guess I got scammed!" about something like this. The OP is either incredibly rich & $450 is just pocket change, or else something is fishy here.

I agree with those who say you should hold the lady responsible. Contact her and see if she will make it good. If not, small claims courts is the way to go. I've done two small claims cases. Its easy and not expensive. Sounds like you have a solid case. Of course once you get a judgement you may have a problem collecting if she's a deadbeat. But if she's got an income you can force her to pay up. My 2 cents. Good luck.
Could this phone be activated on Straight Talk? Might be able to get most of your money back via CL if someone wants to use it on prepaid.

[Q] Brightspot Samsung GS-3 on T-Mobile network

Brightspot just launched a couple of days ago, and I see a good price for S3 off-contract - the full name of this phone is "Brightspot Samsung Galaxy SIII Cell Phone - White (T999L)". I'm thinking about buying this device and use it with my T-Mobile sim, but was curious to find out if anyone did the same thing and was successful? Do I have to unlock it... would the data work with my T-Mobile sim...? The reps at Target don't seem to know, or they are not willing to tell me the truth

If it's a t999l it should work straight out the box. If not just unlock
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
It's just a guess, but if it's a T999L, it should be identical to T-Mobile's in every way, including its firmware. Anytime a carrier wants different firmware, they usually give it a different model number.
For example, Metro PCS has the T999N. It is a T999L, only the firmware is different, and doesn't have T-Mobile apps/bloat, but this got it its own model number.
Basically I'm saying it should work with T-Mobile's SIM with nothing done. But, like I said, I am guessing here. If you do need to unlock there are online services as little as $5 out there.

Those are both deal breakers for me. It's just another way the manufacturers can try to dictate how you use hardware you purchased. And to ensure you'll be back to spend more money when the battery dies or you run out of storage.
Anyway, those were both at the top of my list when deciding if I should ditch HTC for this S3.

It is nice to have expandable storage and the option to change batteries. I had the option of the S3 or nexus 4, its obvious which phone I chose. The back of the nexus 4 being glass (fragile glass) was the deal breaker.
The S3 is nice and I've learned quite a few things since I've had it and its a tough phone, I've dropped it a few times and it doesn't have a single mark on it (guess I'm somewhat lucky).
Op if you decide to go with the S3, backup the imei before you start flashing ROMs. There's a few methods on how to do it, you should be able to find them easily.

yes i am aware of that but i want my phone to have removable battery and microSD card. that means no nexus or apple for me or until they come to their senses... if that would ever happen.

$399.99? I would reconsider buying it, especially with the nexus 5 coming out soon. Only downside is no removable battery and no micro SD card slot.

Wee bit OT, but if you wanted any further push towards S3, Watch Cnet's Torture Test Video. Priceless.

Amazing! Thanks for sharing.
hahaha don't think i'll ever do that to my phone... i just want a good price on a good/decent phone (battery life, storage, and some official OS future upgrades). S3 comes closest to what i need, so right now i'm only looking for the right price

Cool. Congrats on your new toy! Verify its actually a T999L before you do anything to it though. If it's different, let me know and I can try to help.
