Hey guys, make sure you don't have antivirus turned on on your computers. When I first tried installing HTC sync it failed continually until I disabled my antivirus. If that doesn't work, you'll have to search for it in the one x forums, but there is a download of just the drivers floating around, don't remember where I saw them, sorry. You actually don't need HTC sync itself for your phone to connect to your computer, just the drivers. Hope this helps.

Hi
Really hoping that someone can help as I've read all over the net and not been able to get an answer.
Basically I can't get my Desire to connect to HTC sync which is a massive issue as I need to get my contacts from Outlook.
I have installed the latest version of HTC Sync and the disk drive function works fine but the phone simply won't connect to HTC sync.
I've tried all usb ports, reinstalled the software, restarted phone and computer, tried updating drivers.....
All I get is a message on the phone saying "Unable to find HTC sync on your PC. Please make sure that HTC is installed and open on your computer".
Anyone got any ideas at all how to fix this?!
Any help would be really appreciated.
Thanks
I would check your firewall.
I have just setup HTC Sync and it works fine windows 7 x64
only problem i had is that outlook has to be close for the sync to work.
did u install the HTC sync version from the memory card that came with the desire? it newer than the latest release on the HTC website.
I have Win 7 and it works fine for me with new version, couldn't get it to work with the old one though.

For me work normaly on Win7 x64 ultimate...
Im install it from SD card when notify me about AV(NOD) Im disable it and continue with installation. After installation Im enable AV, setup some sync settings and normaly sync contacts and calendar.
I don't need close Outlook to sync items.
try disabling your anti virus/ firewall
Works fine on my W7 x64 Ultimate rig syncing with Outlook 2007
I have the same problems...firewall is off, the newest winmobilecenter 64bit software is installed but i can´t sync with outlook 2007.. can you help me??
I had a similar problem and now I have a Google account (contacts, email, calendar etc) and am much happier than trying to get MS products to work...
I'm having the same problem with a thunderbolt, can anyone
help? Indeed when I connect the win7 box can see the phone.
It sees the drv and img dirs etc..
HT Sync (from the phone) can't see HT sync on the other side. Win7 also sees the device as a CD Drive. Funny old business innit?
Try uninstall HTC Sync and all other HTC* drivers in system. Then connect your phone and install HTC Sync. Worked for me.
I had big problems with this too. Later i gave up trying to fix it and found an old CD with Windows XP x86 and installed it on a VM. Works perfect.
As someone else has touched on, how about exporting contacts to a Google account and syncing that way?

Try running the install of HTC Sync and the program itself as Administrator.
Right click>Run as Administrator

I have the same problem. I think it is because i use custom ROM.
HTC Synch fails on Windows 7
Navigate to the exe and right click. Select proporties and choose 'run in compatibility mode'. Worked for me
Yes, don't think its custom ROM related - I use Runnymede AIO adn RSK 6, both sunc with Win7 Ultimate x64 fine.
I can recommend MyPhoneExplorer as an alternative to HTC Sync. It is free and in my experience more reliable and has lots of extra features.
Hey guys
I specialy registered to this forum for my next question/problem.
First of all, I'm using Wildfire s, 2.3.7, CyanogenMod-7.2.0-RC1-marvel.KANG + i'm using Windows 8 Consumer Preview.
I was trying to install
"[Tool] Android Screencast 0.4 (open-source)"
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=557717
But when i connect my htc to pc with usb debugging it fails to install the driver. I've downloaded many usb_drivers from all over internet and tried to install them manually using device manager but it doesn't seem to work.
Finly i found the "HTCDriver3.0.0.007.exe and it worked on other computer (Win7). when i tried to install it in win 8 it gives an error telling that Driver installer in not supported for this OS. tried to run in capatibility mod but no luck.
Also tried to modify the usb_driver files "android_winusb" my adding lines in end etc.. still didn't work.
usually i don't ask help from any forum rather i google things and read other ppl posts. which worked.... until now So now i'm asking for help at this topic, i've been through almost every post in xda telling about Device not found, without any luck there eith.
If needed it's possible to remote controll my pc with teamviewer.
Help is really appreciated.
ps. device manager shows that yellow attention mark.
TEMP FILES / Extract .msi~
I got it work myself after all.
If you need help to install the device, mail me.

why not just post the answer?
had trouble getting drivers for windows 8 64 to work when trying to flash ruu update. could not find drivers online or a thread on xda, eventually downloaded the google drivers from sdk, and they worked perfectly after manually installing them for the android phone and then again for the android 1.0 device when it boots to hboot.
Hi.. My Greets to Everyone on this Forum.

Anyone had any luck? I have been trying for avery long time but no success. Tried uninstalling the MS C related files. If i remove, it tells me MS VC Redist 2005 missing. When it is installed, it still gives the same error,

This issue seems to come up again and again. I ran into this myself and discovered that in my case Threatfire was causing the problem. I had to uninstall Threatfire in order to succesfully install HTC Sync Manager. Stopping Threatfire was not enough!
Similiar issues seem to occur when using personal firewalls, in some cases deactivating the software is not enough.
