Hey guys N gals... Have had my. Sprint Gnex for about three weeks now and getting the hang of this bootloader and other stuff. Currently running some codename, so here's the Q. What kernel you running and why? What options do I have? Any feedback is appreciated.

Trinity. I like the color and its given me great performance with great battery so I haven't seen the need to try anything else.

Franco Kernel. I started using it because I had that is was amazing... I have to reckon that I'm not completely happy with it...
Next one I want to try is trinity, although I have already try it, but I didn't like the color so much, so it just last 5 minutes, but I want to give it another try.

Thanks for the replys people. Much appreciated, are there any battery saver specific kernels that you know of?

All kernels are pretty much the same. Just pick one and calibrate it. Change the governor. Undervolt it. Turn sync off if you don't need it underclock if necessary. My personal favorite is the samurai kernel as it is"specifically" made for the Sprint nexus. Although you can use them across all variants. There's is no one size fits all kernel no matter what they tell you.

Just tried flashing the samurai kernel and I was in a boot loop. Wiped cache and dalvik cache as well. What did i do wrong? Maybe bad download....?

Which one? What Rom. If you flashed the one in the very first post you flashed the wrong one. You need the one I posted at the last page or the second to last page. Sorry Earthbound had been MIA for a while.

This one works... no the other one was for stock android. But this one is for modded roms like cm 10. I will PM you the control app. But when the new one comes out it will be a paid app and you will have to purchase it.

Yes. Heads up. Pegasusq is the best governor. And vr is the preferred io.
Sent From My Toro+ via RED Tapatalk
Damn....just finished installing the kernel. And wow what a HUGE difference!
Lol...this thing is flying now. And the colors are amazing now!

Compile the stock tuna kernel from AOSP for maguro, toro, and toroplus, then diff them. I did this, and they were all exactly the same. Given this info, I don't see how one kernel can be built specifically for one of the three tuna devices. Granted, it may only be used and tested on one, but if all three kernels are the same, then built specifically for one means it should work on all of them.
any way you can pm me the control app, want to try out the kernel

I'm no kernel developer by any means. But this is what I was told by Earthbound who happens to be such. He tends to be right almost all of the time so I'm just reiterating. Was also why other kernels were on Linux 3.08 instead of the latest 3.31 (I think it was).

Latest stock kernel is 3.0.31
This should help some of the devs to get aosp going ....international note 2 just got first build of cm10 .

Questions
1. Does it have Multi screen apps
2. Is Google Wallet working?
3. Does the screen record function work?
lol. Kinda asking for real...but I'm sure they haven't got these working yet..
I can't wait til we get a PA port!
Sent from the second version of a hefty "Note" pad.
Me neither!
The Note 2 seriously needs a dpi bump to utilize that huge screen. The status bar would be so much better on the bottom. PA did this easily.
What's up ppl? I read somewhere, can't remember where exactly, that there's a mod that can transform our aosp roms into a GN4 look a like, anybody know anything about it and where it can be found? Tia
Edit: Lol, after I got to a decent data area, I tried to Google it, and guess what? My thread here was at the top of the search results..gotta love Google lol..anyway, I've found some info about it. Anyone using it and got some feedback to offer?

What do you mean? We can have the launcher the camera (kind of) gmail and suck but nothing with the notification pull down even though it isn't that crazy of a difference... those kind of things?
Here it is..it seems to work on cm10, so I'm gonna try it and see how it looks..

I tried it on touchwiz and the changes were minimal with the addition of the trebuchet launcher..I'll try it for cm10 in a day or so and report back

Can someone recommend a TouchWiz based ROM that is Jellybean base? I assume this means it is based on stock, but looking for something tweaked/modded.
Thanks!
Try touched by a Samsung galaxy s3. Great touchwiz based ROM with great tweaks!

You could try going to the development section to find a decent ROM. There is a ton of them.
These threads are really frowned upon because people get into flame wars because one person likes one ROM better than another.
Inb4 the lock.

Try This, Its ASOP but with Touchwiz look
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2170942
Go read in development, when your done reading - read some more.
Then you can ask pertinent questions for whatever appeals to you in the Rom thread.
Then read some more.

Just curious, what does ASOP stand for?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Xparent Cyan Tapatalk 2
Its actually AOSP and it stands for Android Open Source Project, ie pure google android
I like to break stuff!
Thanks. I knew what AOSP is, I thought ASOP might be something new.

Planning on upgrading to a Note2 in a couple of weeks. Of course, I'll be rooting it ASAP to CarbondevROM. But, looking thru the original dev forum, I'm not seeing a lot of kernel love happening. Can anybody point me in the right direction?
