Any AOSP 4.2.X kernels? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note II

Planning on upgrading to a Note2 in a couple of weeks. Of course, I'll be rooting it ASAP to CarbondevROM. But, looking thru the original dev forum, I'm not seeing a lot of kernel love happening. Can anybody point me in the right direction?

Kernel Opinions N Options

Hey guys N gals... Have had my. Sprint Gnex for about three weeks now and getting the hang of this bootloader and other stuff. Currently running some codename, so here's the Q. What kernel you running and why? What options do I have? Any feedback is appreciated.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Xparent ICS Tapatalk 2
Trinity. I like the color and its given me great performance with great battery so I haven't seen the need to try anything else.

Franco Kernel. I started using it because I had that is was amazing... I have to reckon that I'm not completely happy with it...
Next one I want to try is trinity, although I have already try it, but I didn't like the color so much, so it just last 5 minutes, but I want to give it another try.

Thanks for the replys people. Much appreciated, are there any battery saver specific kernels that you know of?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Xparent ICS Tapatalk 2
All kernels are pretty much the same. Just pick one and calibrate it. Change the governor. Undervolt it. Turn sync off if you don't need it underclock if necessary. My personal favorite is the samurai kernel as it is"specifically" made for the Sprint nexus. Although you can use them across all variants. There's is no one size fits all kernel no matter what they tell you.

Just tried flashing the samurai kernel and I was in a boot loop. Wiped cache and dalvik cache as well. What did i do wrong? Maybe bad download....?

Which one? What Rom. If you flashed the one in the very first post you flashed the wrong one. You need the one I posted at the last page or the second to last page. Sorry Earthbound had been MIA for a while.

This one works... no the other one was for stock android. But this one is for modded roms like cm 10. I will PM you the control app. But when the new one comes out it will be a paid app and you will have to purchase it.

Compile the stock tuna kernel from AOSP for maguro, toro, and toroplus, then diff them. I did this, and they were all exactly the same. Given this info, I don't see how one kernel can be built specifically for one of the three tuna devices. Granted, it may only be used and tested on one, but if all three kernels are the same, then built specifically for one means it should work on all of them.
any way you can pm me the control app, want to try out the kernel

I'm no kernel developer by any means. But this is what I was told by Earthbound who happens to be such. He tends to be right almost all of the time so I'm just reiterating. Was also why other kernels were on Linux 3.08 instead of the latest 3.31 (I think it was).

Cm10 ....

Questions
1. Does it have Multi screen apps
2. Is Google Wallet working?
3. Does the screen record function work?
lol. Kinda asking for real...but I'm sure they haven't got these working yet..
I can't wait til we get a PA port!
Sent from the second version of a hefty "Note" pad.
Me neither!
The Note 2 seriously needs a dpi bump to utilize that huge screen. The status bar would be so much better on the bottom. PA did this easily.

Aosp vs cm 10

Can someone tell me what the difference between these are

AOSP is the original "android open source project" http://source.android.com/
this is the original project developed by Google. Its lightweight and pure android. Then vendors take this and make it to suit their needs.
all android is based off of this source then have features, tweaks, etc added to the rom.
CM and AOKP are the larger dev groups.
But when its all broken down, its all the same thing just wrapped up in a different package. some of the bigger changes come with a different launcher while features can be similar even though implemented differently...
I saw you had made something with a kitchen. that is a really small start to development and good luck with your work!
Thanks for the clarification

Tweaked ROM, port possible to Note 8?

I love this ROM, my favorite ROM ever. Not sure if anyone here has tried it for their Note 2, but it is TW based with lots of end user customizations, and some AOSP flavoring. Would anyone know if this ROM could be ported to the Note 8? I'd be willing to be a guinea pig and help in anyway possible.
I am going to attempt it myself but I've never done anything like that, so I am sure it would be a huge project.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=40502323
I highly recommend trying this ROM for anyone with a Note 2, it's well worth your time. Thanks in advance.

Yep, as always, I'm sure it will be worth the wait. I'm going to see if I can port it, I'm dying to learn how to do more... Maybe if I am forced, I will finally do it. Just hard when I worked 60+ hours per week.

[ROM][4.3] OmniROM [PRE-ALPHA][UNOFFICIAL]

This is the pre-alpha thread of OmniROM for the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 (l900). More information can be found here.
This build is very bare bones at the moment. Don't let flashing this now turn you down from trying it again in the future, a lot of changes are coming soon. I would still consider this much more of a tester than a daily driver unless bare bones is your style. The rom is very smooth and fast though probably for that very same reason.
Source:

https://gerrit.omnirom.org/#/q/status:open,n,z
https://github.com/omnirom-slickrick
What doesn't work:
You tell me!
Installation method:
Wipe all if coming from another rom
Flash OmniROM
Flash GApps
Reboot
This rom does not come with root by default. Flash SuperSU in recovery if you want root!
Flash at your own risk! No one else is responsible if your device bursts into flames
To try out multiwindow, go to recents and long press an app. Click add to split view and repeat to add another app. Keep in mind its still buggy at the moment
Have fun and enjoy!
First
And I just flashed this. Liking it so far. I have been on TW for a while. May have to switch.

4.3 stock deodexed available for SPH-L900?
I am sorry if I am in the wrong spot. Found ROMS for the unlocked versions, but can not find one for SPH-L900 - can anyone point me in the right direction or slap me down and tell me there is not one available yet? Thank you so much for any help - appreciate everyone here for their work and input.

You can always use the xposted framework to add that back.
And the rom is cool right now but pretty lacking in settings.
Will this be moving to the development thread? Where should we watch for updates and report bugs?

How do you flash an AT&T rom on a sprint phone? I'm assuming there are differences between the same rom on different devices
Just found this ROM and I'm going to try it out but I wanted to ask if it's still being develop on.
What it do Slick Rick going try this I've seen other omni roms well into development not asking for an update just curious of the progression of the rom. So far so good looking forward to more to come.
