y phone fell into a pail with water it was in there about 5 to 10 seconds. i pulled the battery out and used a blow dryer and put the battery back in and the flash came on. is that a good sign? dont know what else to do. did i screw things up by trying to turn it on without letting it dry out all night? i had this happen once before but never saw the flash come on as soon as the battery was put back in. im hoping for some good news because im not paying assurion 100 bucks, ill just upgrade but i still love my epic. thanks guys
I would've left the phone off for a day or so. I dropped mine in the sink once and after a day of waiting and blow drying I powered it up and the soft buttons were blinking and not responding but it eventually cleared itself up. It was weird.

thanks guys. i woke up this morning and it is still doing the same thing. i can go get a loaner but if ive ttied it a few times have i done alot of damage by putting the battery back in a few times? thats my concern that every time i put the battery in im short circuiting it more and now its toast
You'd be surprised how durable these phones are. I witnessed my friend drop his in a 10 foot swimming pool. It was in there for atleast 15-20 seconds and it works perfect still. We need someone in the community to conduct water testing along with .... "will it blend?"

Confusious is right.. Remove battery and any protective shell, fill a mayo jar or large McDonalds cup or whatever you have that is larger than your phone with dry rice, then stick your phone in then fill the rest of the way with rice. Let set for like 24 hrs. The rice will absorb ALL the moisture. And then you should be golden.
FYI... You should never turn on an electric devise before it is completely dried out first. And never use hot air on an electronic device. I just assumed those were common sense.
My 1.5 year old stuck my epic in the aquarium it was completely under for at least 1 full min. Before I saw it. And the rice trick worked for mine. Left it in the rice for like 2 days though for good measure.
Hope this helps others in the future.

Put your phone inside rice leave it there for a couple hours the rice helps to absorb the excess liquid it worked for me couple times good luck with your phone

I used silica gel cat litter on my daughter's phone after it spent a few seconds in a warm bubble bath.
Three days later, it worked a ok. Silica gel is that dessicant inside little white bags labelled 'DO NOT EAT'.
Same idea as rice. We had some of the silica gel cat litter on hand, unused of course, so it seemed like a good option.

Recently my red LED has been staying on. Even when the phone is turned off it will be on so this is not a software bug. For some reason it isn't always at full brightness and sometimes fades in and out, but doesn't blink.
This is definitely hurting my battery usage, and just plain annoying so I'd really appreciate some help.
Thanks!
Never heard if this problem. Try throwing your phone out a window no but seriously how long has it been doing this?

Might need a little more information. Are you running a custom rom? I could recommend removing the checkmark for pulse notification light in display settings if available. Might help.

It's been doing it for a day or two.
Hmm well the red light comes on when the phone is charging. Is there any type of debris in your USB port? Just throwing out ideas. You could also try flashing a different rom and see if it does the same thing.

Perhaps. I dropped it in the sink under running water the other day and I don't think it got very wet but I put it in rice just to be safe. I'll flash a ROM if nothing else works.

That sounds like the reason why honestly. Even a couple drops can mess things up and cause issues. Right now it might just be that red notification light but more serious issues down the road. At least from my experience with water damage so YMMV.

You shouldn't have left that out! I was about to go research for you because I thought there's a possibility it could happen to me,until you mentioned water, lol. Sometimes rice is not enough specially when it got wet while it was on. Something must've short circuited.

Don't bother, eventually it will go away not if you have a back up phone leave it in the rice a bit longer if not just let it be for now....unless you wanna take it apart
Cleaning the usb port may fix this problem

I don't think there's a point in opening it up to solder anything as nothing is cracked or lose solder joints, like AJC9000 said maybe leave it on rice a little longer or maybe it will eventually go away. Good luck I hope nothing is permanently damaged.

What's the scariest thing that has happened to your Galaxy Nexus?
For me it would be when I fell asleep with mx player running videos on repeat for 9 hours. When I woke up it was so hot I could have fried an egg on it . I put it on top of an AC vent to cool off.
Inb4 noobs bricking their phones
When I turned it off for the night at 85% and went to turn it on in the morning and it was dead.
Luckily hasn't done it since.
It literally just slipped out of my hands and onto the kitchen floor. Thankfully nothing happened. Battery popped out, i simply popped it back in. All good! Im trying to preserve mine as i have a white one with a perfect screen! No weird dark splotches or color shifting.

I've done that before, it's terrifying lol. In the first few days when I hadn't gotten my case or screen protector yet and had a naked Gnex.....it fell screen down onto the floor. I braced myself for the worse as I picked it up....but luckily there were no cracks
I saw a picture of Sarah Palin on mine.

This has happened to me too!!! On 3 occasions on different roms!! Glad I am not the only one... Hasn't happened in awhile though!:fingers-crossed:
Getting water and soap in while applying a wet screen protector, it started to reboot as soon as the enter-pin screen appeared. I put it in a bag of rice for 1 day, after that it returned to normal.

Once in a party some pig left an iDevice on my Gnex, right on top of it! Poor GNex spent about three hours like that
When it turned off during a phone call and became unresponsive. Pulling and reinserting the battery multiple times did nothing. However, oddly enough after like 5 minutes it returned to normal

Is this even possible or are you joking? I've done that tons of times in an Otterbox defender clipped to my pillow. it never got that hot.
But I was using screen filter app at 20% with lowest display brightness BC its not good for your circadian rhythm to sleep by bright lights.
Scariest thing I've done was got out of the car and have the phone hit the pavement. luckily a 3 way nail file smoothed and buffed everything out perfectly!

The scariest thing that happened to my GNex is when I screwed up the 4.1 update and the phone got stuck on the boot screen.
The boot animation was distorted, EVEN WHEN I UNPLUGGED MY BATTERY. The screen was literally on when the battery is out. Then everything started to flash for about 5 seconds before it finally turned itself off.

I just purchased my galaxy note 2. After the 4.1.2 update my touchscreen is acting crazy. It's like its registering touches that aren't there. Like I will open spotify and it will select a song and start playing when I just open the app and my fingers are nowhere near where my fingers are. Anyone else having this issue? It's kinda like this video I found of the first note on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HAAWDwPVYmk&feature=youtube_gdata_player. Any feedback is appreciated. UPDATE here is the video of my doing it that is posted in the the thread below http://youtu.be/ROTcp-fvBNw

Yes I have done nothing to it except for the update from AT&T.

Try a factory reset. Good etiquette after an update.
Yeah I should, I was hoping to avoid that due to my authenticators on my phone. Pain in the butt to set them up again. I will try and see if it stops.

Well I just did a reset. All seemed well as my apps were updating. When they were done I slid down the notification menu and touched clear all button. After I did that it registered 3 touches (I know because of the reset the annoying water sound for touches is back on). It opened 2 apps just by touching the clear button. I must have a faulty screen. Strange it didn't happen until the 4.1.2 update.

This may sound crazy but I do it once a week... I put a little squirt of Hand sanitizer on my screen.. rub it onto the screen and then wipe off with a paper towel. The glass looks perfect afterwards. maybe your glass is just dirty.
I actually do that as well. Not only to keep it nice but to keep the germ filled touchscreen from getting me sick since I deal with the public then touch my phone then take a call. Gross when you think about it. I am going to exchange this phone this morning I have had it for a week,
I had this problem in my last phone, it was due to a fault digitizer
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using xda premium
Yeah, I would call it the digitizer as well - - not fun to buy/replace.
Good thing it's still fairly new.
Pretty wild though.. I thought it was your Palm at first, then you moved it.
Serious question, do you have a black note 2? Or is that a colored glass screen protector?
Maybe my eyes deceive me.. Lol
It's a titanium note 2. The lighting sucked because I had to catch it in action.
I did get a new phone and I am not having the issue anymore. I think it had a short in it. I am glad to get it on here though, so if others have the issue it may provide some help.

Ouch dude. I'm sorry that happened...I would be crying if that happened to me. It sounds like a lot of water is inside the phone and would take quiet a while for the rice to do its job. Make sure to not keep the device powered on. Remove the battery ASAP and then toss the phone in a bag of rice and let it sit for a few days. You could try setting it in front of a fan too for a few hours/days. I'm surprised the phone didn't short out yet.

Keeping the phone powered on and trying to charge it was by far the worst thing to do. You should have removed the battery right when you got it from outside and put it into rice or let it air-dry for a long time. Obviously it's too late now but for the future just remember that for any of your electronics.
Sucks about the stripped screw. Been there done that lots of times. Those kinds of screws require a really good screwdriver.
