Water in Cameras and USB port!!! - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 4

Left phone outside last night and woke up with it pouring rain. Needless to say water got in the phone. Both camera are water logged now and the usb port is acting up saying its on charger when its not. Anybody have any ideas to maybe get the water out quicker besides rice in a bowl trick. Thanks

Ouch dude. I'm sorry that happened...I would be crying if that happened to me. It sounds like a lot of water is inside the phone and would take quiet a while for the rice to do its job. Make sure to not keep the device powered on. Remove the battery ASAP and then toss the phone in a bag of rice and let it sit for a few days. You could try setting it in front of a fan too for a few hours/days. I'm surprised the phone didn't short out yet.

Front camera is still shot and usb port damaged i guess it charges but even when i unplug it it still says its charging but battery level keeps going lower not higher. I guess i will give it a few more days then get it repaired if needed. Tried to open the phone myself and got every screw out but the one on the side and just my luck it stripped so needless to say I couldn't get the back off without breaking it...go figure!!!!

Sounds good but my backup phone is even worse because my little boy slammed it. So it only works half the time and cuts off by itself

Keeping the phone powered on and trying to charge it was by far the worst thing to do. You should have removed the battery right when you got it from outside and put it into rice or let it air-dry for a long time. Obviously it's too late now but for the future just remember that for any of your electronics.
Sucks about the stripped screw. Been there done that lots of times. Those kinds of screws require a really good screwdriver.

Moist Epic, Power button broken

Epic got a little drizzle lastnight. Noticed this am that power button is unresponsive. Moisture indicator on Batt is def red.
Everything else works fine. Think it will come around soon? It has worked a few times today.
I did get insurance last time around. Is that a pretty easy swap?
Stick with Epic or go for something newer? Thanks...

You might get lucky if you take out the battery and let it dry out overnight. How long ago did you add the insurance? Has it been 30 days? I am not sure if the $100 deductable applies to moisture damage or not.

Keep it in a bowl of rice to dry it out. Try it again after a few hours. If not, you will have to pay the $100 if they can't fix it.

Tried that initially, then worried I couldn't turn it on! After a wait I did get it to turn on.
Tried quick boot and still no work. But that will give me a chance to reboot recovery for nandroid.
Also using screen off and lock from market to turn off (remap long press search to power off). Sliding open keyboard to turn on.
Yeah... it's been a long time since I got insurance.

Update...
Seems to be working better than half the time now. Wasn't looking forward to the $100 water fee. Also noticed a hairline crack on lower right side of display housing...looks like maybe a stress area from the underside hinge slots.
So is there another water detector? I only see the one on battery. Seems like maybe I could get an extra batt b4 this thing gets swapped out.... is behold comming?!

Oh man, the plastic around your screen is your accelerometer according to what a Sprint tech told me. I have had insurance since day 1. My touchscreen went bad and at first they weren't going to fix mine at all because I had a crack in that plastic around my screen. I had to do some smooth talking and finally he replaced my screen and some other things as well

Battery looks like it expanded inside..

Quick question, I've got a bricked evo that I have'nt touched in months. The battery has been useless inside the phone's box since then but a couple of days ago I noticed the battery looks like it expanded or exploded from the inside. Any idea of what could of caused this?
Very curious.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
If it was never charged for a while and left on a cool environment I would say that the battery was just bad, if you had it on a hot place like on the glove compartment inside your car then it overheated. Either way I hope you discard it.
Any lump on a battery means you need to dispose of it..I've heard of some crazy stuff lol.
Sent from my PC36100 using xda premium
Dispose of it immediately. If you try to use it or charge it, it will likely explode.
Oh I would never attempt to use it again, I was just a little curious as to why this would happen. Thanks all!

Ruined phone?

y phone fell into a pail with water it was in there about 5 to 10 seconds. i pulled the battery out and used a blow dryer and put the battery back in and the flash came on. is that a good sign? dont know what else to do. did i screw things up by trying to turn it on without letting it dry out all night? i had this happen once before but never saw the flash come on as soon as the battery was put back in. im hoping for some good news because im not paying assurion 100 bucks, ill just upgrade but i still love my epic. thanks guys
I would've left the phone off for a day or so. I dropped mine in the sink once and after a day of waiting and blow drying I powered it up and the soft buttons were blinking and not responding but it eventually cleared itself up. It was weird.

You'd be surprised how durable these phones are. I witnessed my friend drop his in a 10 foot swimming pool. It was in there for atleast 15-20 seconds and it works perfect still. We need someone in the community to conduct water testing along with .... "will it blend?"

Confusious is right.. Remove battery and any protective shell, fill a mayo jar or large McDonalds cup or whatever you have that is larger than your phone with dry rice, then stick your phone in then fill the rest of the way with rice. Let set for like 24 hrs. The rice will absorb ALL the moisture. And then you should be golden.
FYI... You should never turn on an electric devise before it is completely dried out first. And never use hot air on an electronic device. I just assumed those were common sense.
My 1.5 year old stuck my epic in the aquarium it was completely under for at least 1 full min. Before I saw it. And the rice trick worked for mine. Left it in the rice for like 2 days though for good measure.
Hope this helps others in the future.

Put your phone inside rice leave it there for a couple hours the rice helps to absorb the excess liquid it worked for me couple times good luck with your phone

I used silica gel cat litter on my daughter's phone after it spent a few seconds in a warm bubble bath.
Three days later, it worked a ok. Silica gel is that dessicant inside little white bags labelled 'DO NOT EAT'.
Same idea as rice. We had some of the silica gel cat litter on hand, unused of course, so it seemed like a good option.

I already tried they wont let me. but something else that's weird, I thought maybe restoring back to stock might work if its something software related to I tried restoring to zv7 with the link in the IRC using lgnpst and lgnpst is not flashing the bootloader or anything for that matter. any ideas why? I can get the phone in download mode and lgnpst does its regular thing, the phone reboots at 67% like normal, then it sits at the 4g LTE logo on the boot animation until it overheats and shuts off. I tried getting into the bootloader and it will not show it. if I hold vol up+vol down+power, it just goes straight to the boot animation from a cold start.

OK what kind of phone is it and what battery cover is on it. It definitely not gonna charge by itself
TWEAKED 2.0 ELEMENT V3.0 NOTE 3
My phone has done that if I pull it off the charger too fast....drains the battery like crazy
though it IS an ancient phone compared to 2012-2013 gear (Xperia Play R800x)
Is it one of those fake display apps? My brother had one that would show screen being used as solar panel, more light would show more charging current, all fake to amuse others. Or really strong electromagnetic field capable of inducing electricity even from larger distance.
My battery has a habit of charging on it's own.. To an extent. When I reset my phone when the battery is full. It'll boot up with 15% battery, then it'll slowly creep itself up to 20%-25% then it stops. Then again, my battery is going bad.

You must be talking about a different video because the video in the link posted in op does NOT show the back of the phone. He never once flipped the phone over to show the actual back of the phone, so no it does not show the front and back (I have no clue how you landed on that conclusion)! Just for a brief second he tilted his hand (with the phone still lying flat on it's back in his hand) at an angle where you can see the very bottom part of the battery cover, and you can tell it's 2-3 times thicker than the stock S3 battery and door cover so it's obviously a battery case! Sorry to burst your bubble but unfortunately there's no such thing as a magical self charging phone lol
