The 28 days is a cooling off period, where you can send the phone back if you are not happy with it.
If there is a fault with the phone, take it back to a three shop .you have a manufacturer's guarantee, standard consumer rights, they must repair if it's faulty.....

Hi all .. i had iphone 4s which i exchanged with someone via gumtree with one x. the phone was locked to three and was new. so i unlocked it today via unlocksaver.com
i entered the code they gave me and it searched for something then it said successful but when it restarted it is saying IMEI locked in the place where it shows carrier in notification tray. what does that mean? i dont understand is it blacklisted? or is it not unlocked properly? i noticed i tried to restart it 2 or three times and it did got a signal once then again it says imei locked
The only way a phone will get blocked is if the owner reports it being stolen/lost
You could be a victim of crime if bought on second hand market as the owner is probably doing insurance scam.
are u from denmark then post eng and danish
Not had the same issue but saw something in the forum. Try this:
Go to menu settings then power and untick fast boot. Restart phone and see what that does if it works tick fast boot back

Sometimes it just says no service but sometimes it says imei locked .. i am worried my phone has no signal does it has anything to do with that unlock code i purchased?
If the phone is blocked (the imei) from the carrier for being stolen or lost, your sim should work for like 5 minutes before it gets locked, this meens you can make phone calls or send sms in the first 5 minutes before it gets locked.it is how much time your phone needs to send the imei number to your carrier so they can check if it is ok or if it is been stolen/lost. You can go at this website http://www.amta.org.au/pages/amta/Check.the.Status.of.your.Handset and check the status of your imei, it is for Australia but try to find the service/website for your country.

My brand new sim free One X did this when I first tried to use it - called retailer to exchange it - they suggested a hard reset (keep power button held for 10 secs +) and that fixed the problem for me. Worth a try?

tbh if you have been stung by this person with a stolen handset i would return the favor and report the iphone stolen, but dont do it until you have comfermed that he has done this.
sounds like the typical insurance scam to me.

thanks for replies people... i did manged to get in contact with that person and realy tried to help me alot but the wiered thing is when i got home and tried to turn on phone after 12 hours or soething the phone was working and i felt embarresed taht i bloked iphone and that guy had no intention of that but there was realy something wrong with my phone. its fine now :/
My One X had the exact same problem, took it back to the store i got it from and they changed it for a new one which worked fine.
Seems it may be a problem with the phone rather than a dodgy seller as mine came from Carphone Warehouse
What a cruel joke...after a week I get mine from expansys and I am getting IMEI locked contact customer care!!!! Aghhhh...
Please tell me there is another solution to resolve this aside from RMA and more waiting?
Damn...
Moderator Information,
I have closed this thread as we do not allow the discussion of changing or editing IMEI numbers. I am afraid the best thing you can do is try to find the person who sold you the phone and report the issue to them.
Many thanks,
Stephen
This is weird. When I woke up I restarted my HOX and suddenly signal kept dropping. Keeps saying preparing sim card. What could be causing this? I don't want to keep factory resetting. Seems to be a really great phone but now I don't know if I should return it. Please if anyone can help.

had really great signal before upgrade... havent tried restoring fabric settings, but am searching for custom rom, and will try that out
Already happened to me three times where suddenly "preparing sim card" appears and I lose signal. Had to hard reset all the time. Unfortunately, htc shops here in the Philippines are crap. They say they have to send it to service center even if the phone is a week old. For what? So they open it up? I don't want to have a week old phone opened and fixed. I want a replacement.
Have the phone for 2 week now, and today i also faced this problem for the first time T_T (running stock 1.28)
Just great, first the yellow spots that didn't went away and now this problem on top of it ?
I hope it was a coincidence and hope i won't get worse.
I had my microSIM replaced and so far, crossing my fingers, signal has been full almost all the time. I just had the original SIM cut before, so I hope that was just the problem.
I've read about sim cards been cut to micro sim been a possible cause.

In Slovenia one carrier has this problem. Only SIM cards older than 2 years work so it is a SIM problem. When I asked them about when they will solve this they told me it's HTC's problem and that HTC is working on the problem. Maybe the next update will fix it. SIM cards of other carriers work ok. So if you can, try cards from other carriers. If anyone knows how to fix this I'd be grateful. I don't want to switch my carrier because other two's 3G network is [email protected]
i Got my One X from UK in April 2012. I am resident of India. the phone is great and was performing perfectly until yesterday i started experiencing Wifi Connectivity issues . wifi signal is perfect when im in my room and as soon as i go in another room, the signal weakens and reduces to zero. it never happened until yesterday. the question i want to ask is from where can i avail the warranty of my phone in India? i have the stickers/bill of the phone . will i face any issues while availing the warranty in India or will they Charge me with any cost? Or is there a way to solve my Wifi Issue. Mods kindly guide me if i made a duplicate thread. I am really worried here
no answer
Definitely under warranty, you shouldn't be charged any costs for fixing this problem.

You shouldn't have any problem to access the services under warranty. Having said so, I guess you were sold the device by a mobile network or retailers, in that case you may be asked to contact the seller; just a possibility.
Hey everyone, so since i got my One X in July last year, i've had to send it for repair twice.
I'm with Virgin here in Australia, but Virgin's repair handsets get sent to Optus' repair centres, so this post will apply to both Virgin and Optus users as well as any other carrier that uses Optus' network (eg. TPG).
Anyway, on to the point now!
The first time i sent my phone for repair, it had the infamous Wi-Fi antenna fault. I sent my phone in with an Ordroid ICS ROM. Much to my surprise, i was not charged for repairs and they replace the motherboard, battery and battery copper foil for me for free - all under warranty. However, it was reverted to stock and the bootloader was locked when i got it back.
The second time i sent my phone for repair, it simply stopped charging or being recognised via a USB cable on any PC, so i couldn't charge it at all (i don't have a dock to charge it with). Anyway, this time, i sent my phone for repair with Renovate Final 3 on it. I didn't get to revert to stock before sending it because i ran out of battery completely! Anyway, i got my phone back today (it's fixed) and funnily enough, they didn't charge me for repairs AND it still has Renovate ROM on it hahahaha! To make the matter even more amusing, the bootloader is still unlocked and CWM is still there too! So they didn't even touch the software this time other than to wipe my data haha!
So for those who are afraid of sending their Optus or Virgin phones in for repair because you have an unlocked bootloader, it seems that you don't have any reason for concern.
For those who are specifically interested in what store i went to and where, please PM me.
I hope this helps some of you!
Edit: Here's what Virgin handed back to me (see attachment). The part about the discharge level is interesting (besides the stupid typo they made).
I also laughed at "Found after market software installed in this handset", no sh*t, i sent it in with Renovate ROM on it lol, though they could be referring to apps still.
What state are you in ?
I'm in Victoria. I really thought it was a fluke that I got away without having to pay for repairs the first time but after my phone came back a second time (while still under warranty) without me having to pay for repairs, it showed that Optus' repair centres don't care if people have voided their warranties.
Has anyone else here who is with Virgin or Optus had a similar or different experience?

Check your PM (Y). It tends to vary it seems. Depends what the repair is for. What's wrong with your handset?
had mine repaired in vic through optus around october last year, the sensors stopped working think it had viper rom ,they didnt say anything ,5 weeks later i recieved a brand new phone not a refurb was happy, still working perfect ,
I'm with Virgin, they don't use Optus repair centres for the One X. The Virgin HOX also has a different CID. But yes, Virgin doesn't care if you have voided your warranty, my bootloader was relocked.

That's so lucky that they gave you a new one!!!! They still gave me the same worn out HOX that i've had since last year after both repairs which was slightly disappointing (even though it was ambitious to expect more still).

The Virgin HOX definitely has a different CID, in fact its CID is not branded. I spoke to someone on HTC's support chat about my phone's CID and IMEI and they said that mine was a modified Vodafone handset (i don't know how they could have made that more confusing).
Anyway, as far as my experience goes, the Virgin store that i've given my HOX in to for repair has sent it to an Optus repair centre both times (check the photo i added to the first post). Either way though, it seems like neither Virgin or Optus care about voided warranties which is awesome.
Okay, so here's the story. Fed up with my One V and needed to upgrade. Found a faulty One X on ebay, bought it for £110 or so thinking I could fix it. I couldn't. Rooting didn't help, was a hardware issue. Came on here and apparently only option is to send it back. Turns out the phone is still under warranty (well, if it wasn't rooted). Reflash to stock, send it to HTC (no proof of purchase!) and today I received it back! Good as new, and they even chucked in a free pair of headphones because it took them so long! So yeah, HTC rock.
Only issue is it's locked to a network because the ebay seller was a moron and listed it wrong/incorrectly. I tried 2 unlocking sites already but no luck, anyone have a link to one that they've used that worked? Ideally I'd like to do it via internet but I guess I'll take it to a shop and see if they can if its required.
Glad to hear that someone (else than myself) has good experience with the HTC Support!

As far as I know, it doesn't. On some mobile phones you can pretty easily network unlock your device when having root acces (by looking for some kind of code in a file that's in your root folder), but rooting doesn't do this automatically.
What's your carrier? From what I have read here on xda, if I'm not wrong, orange and Vodafone have changed the unlock codes and the codes from internet don't work. I'm on tmobike and I unlocked my phone to any network from online site without any problem.
Sent from my HTC One X
To what network is your phone locked and will let you know for sure if it can be unlocked by code or not. As an alternative one x now can be unlock by cable ,so probably some unlock shops can do that for you also
