IMEI locked - HTC One X

Hi all .. i had iphone 4s which i exchanged with someone via gumtree with one x. the phone was locked to three and was new. so i unlocked it today via unlocksaver.com
i entered the code they gave me and it searched for something then it said successful but when it restarted it is saying IMEI locked in the place where it shows carrier in notification tray. what does that mean? i dont understand is it blacklisted? or is it not unlocked properly? i noticed i tried to restart it 2 or three times and it did got a signal once then again it says imei locked

The only way a phone will get blocked is if the owner reports it being stolen/lost
You could be a victim of crime if bought on second hand market as the owner is probably doing insurance scam.
are u from denmark then post eng and danish

Not had the same issue but saw something in the forum. Try this:
Go to menu settings then power and untick fast boot. Restart phone and see what that does if it works tick fast boot back

Sometimes it just says no service but sometimes it says imei locked .. i am worried my phone has no signal does it has anything to do with that unlock code i purchased?

If the phone is blocked (the imei) from the carrier for being stolen or lost, your sim should work for like 5 minutes before it gets locked, this meens you can make phone calls or send sms in the first 5 minutes before it gets locked.it is how much time your phone needs to send the imei number to your carrier so they can check if it is ok or if it is been stolen/lost. You can go at this website http://www.amta.org.au/pages/amta/Check.the.Status.of.your.Handset and check the status of your imei, it is for Australia but try to find the service/website for your country.

My brand new sim free One X did this when I first tried to use it - called retailer to exchange it - they suggested a hard reset (keep power button held for 10 secs +) and that fixed the problem for me. Worth a try?

tbh if you have been stung by this person with a stolen handset i would return the favor and report the iphone stolen, but dont do it until you have comfermed that he has done this.
sounds like the typical insurance scam to me.

thanks for replies people... i did manged to get in contact with that person and realy tried to help me alot but the wiered thing is when i got home and tried to turn on phone after 12 hours or soething the phone was working and i felt embarresed taht i bloked iphone and that guy had no intention of that but there was realy something wrong with my phone. its fine now :/

My One X had the exact same problem, took it back to the store i got it from and they changed it for a new one which worked fine.
Seems it may be a problem with the phone rather than a dodgy seller as mine came from Carphone Warehouse

What a cruel joke...after a week I get mine from expansys and I am getting IMEI locked contact customer care!!!! Aghhhh...
Please tell me there is another solution to resolve this aside from RMA and more waiting?
Damn...

Moderator Information,
I have closed this thread as we do not allow the discussion of changing or editing IMEI numbers. I am afraid the best thing you can do is try to find the person who sold you the phone and report the issue to them.
Many thanks,
Stephen

Unlocked Desire not connecting to any mobile networks

Hi, I got an HTC Desire for my 21st birthday from my (awesome) family. They bought it unlocked off ebay. It was previously Orange-locked, and contains their logo branding on the back case.
When I first put my 3/4 year-old Vodaphone sim from my old Sony Ericsson P990i in it, it said the SIM card wouldn't allow a connection to the Vodaphone network (this was using both automatic and manual network selection). I looked up on the internet, and read somewhere that it was the age of the SIM meant it wasn't compatible with a 3G phone. Alright, I thought.
So I ordered a brand new pay-as-you-go Orange sim (Dolphin) off the Orange website. Stuck it in my phone, and it threw the same error back at me: "Your SIM does not allow a connection to this network". I tried it in my P990i just in case, and it seemed to work perfectly fine. Turns out I didn't want to be with Orange anyway, so I ordered TWO new 3 SIMs.
Now this is where I am today. Neither of those SIMs work in this phone either. I want to stay with 3 so I can switch my number over and get £10, along with the extra data and texts. Unfortunately, it gave me the same error. I spent all day today rooting my phone and installing the latest radio (from here showthread.php?t=687464) -- 32.42.00.32U_5.09.00.08 -- and still no luck. I have the cyanogen mod installed also, but even on the stock HTC ROM it was giving me the errors. I've got a little further, and it's now also giving me an error "Unable to connect to this network at this time. Please try again later." which I've googled, to no avail.
With the CyanogenMod-6.0.0 RC1, according to the network strength indicator I get full bars (that fluctuate). Which network these are signifying I have no idea, since it's not letting me connect to anything.
I've got to the point where I've had years shaved off my life. My hair is now grey and falling out in clumps, and I swear I'm now sterile. Any help would be appreciated before I brick this phone, and not in the usual way.
As its an ebay purchase, it COULD be an insurance jobby and now reported stolen so the imei blacklisted.
Check it HERE
Damn socktug, thanks. I just filed the report and it came back that "this item has been blocked during its lifetime by one or more UK networks", and that "This item is currently blocked on one or more networks. It may still work on some networks." It wasn't listed as stolen or anything though.
I wonder how I can get my money back now. I don't deal with e-bay often (at all) for this very reason. Sigh.
Thanks for your help socktug! hopefully I can get a replacement device/my money back and get a Desire that actually works.

What a bummer, sorry to hear that. Sellers like that need to have their knees done!
You will need to open a dispute via paypal. I'd also contact the police with a print out of the listing and your check mend report.

Well luckily, I called Orange (the original retailer) and they unlocked the IMEI straight away for me. Took about 5 minutes to get all the networks, and now I'm just setting up my 3 account.
thanks for your help sock. Without it, I probably would have gone mental.

Hey Dekstar,
When u called Orange, what explanation did they have for the IMEI lock? Iv'e never experienced an IMEI lock in Denmark, except with stolen phones, and in some cases where companys bhought a lot of phones, and didnt pay...

I think it was something to do with a £10 debt or something from the previous owner, but I just said I got it second-hand, and they unlocked it.

[Q] Need advice about buying HTC One X

Hello,
I have found various ads on ebay.co.uk with users selling htcs that are not functional to UK (It's shows no service when inserting a sim card in UK) but are functional to the rest of the world, or so they claim. How can this be true? Anybody knows anything about this? Please follow these links and have a look if you wanna help. Should I bid on them in order to use them in europe (not uk)? Can they be stolen or ?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/HTC-One-X-3...=487860465136872654&pid=100015&prg=1006&rk=1&
and
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140793541131&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:GB:1123
I strongly recommend that you do not buy one of these. They are likely to be phones that have been lost or reported stolen and the IMEI has been blocked by the network operator. Network operators share the block between all carriers here in the UK and most of Europe I believe. I would steer well clear personally.
Those phones are either stolen or written off by an insurance company.
If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is.
Stay away.

Thank you for the replies. I will stay away.
For the record this is the reply I got "as i have stated on the listening i had bought this for me to use, and is open to all network, some how the network has been locked in for uk use, but it dose work other part of the world with any Sim card you put in.
many thanks"

Anyone with half a brain that had had their phone locked for no reason would be straight on the phone to their network operator and going berserk! I would never just accept that "Oh, my network's barred my phone, oh well guess I'll just sell it then". Yeah right, pull the other one!

agreed... stay away from it OP...sure you can find a deal which does not mean you get ripped off.
As a general consensus, if a phone is barred in the UK it will work abroad, if a phone is barred in Turkey it'll work in the UK.
All barred phones emit a signal and when you enter a UK sim it checks it against the database and it will know it's barred.
2 main reasons why a phone could be barred, 1) It's stolen 2) It's been insurance scammed. Either way if you are the legit holder of a barred phone the only way it would have been barred is if you insurance scammed it yourself, or you bought the phone privately and it was stolen/scammed and it got barred whilst in your possession without realising it was either.
This happened to my sister, the SGS2 she bought privately was listed due to an insurance scam, although it wasn't blocked the IMEI had been listed which was odd!
Stay away, these days phones are smuggled out of the country for illegal purposes.
STAY AWAY. It will do you more harm than good.

No ROM flashing will sort that out, unfortunately. It's barred in the country you're in. It should work in other countries, but I reckon you've been fleeced with that one, I'm afraid.

Might be worth ringing 3 to see if they can do anything, but potentially the block will be the police block that permanently kills the phone.

Sadly this is the danger of buying phones via eBay and other online auction sites.
My advice is to file a dispute with PayPal (please tell us you paid via PayPal) to recover you money. Take the handset to your local police station and inform them of the situation and ask for a reference number, use this as your PayPal proof.
You will get your money back via PayPal and if the police cannot trace the original owner you should also be entitled to the handset if it was reported as lost, not stolen.
AFAIK IMEI bans cannot be reversed normally.
Always ask the seller of handsets on eBay for the IMEI so you can check that against blacklists. If the seller will not provide it, its stolen.
You can verify the info sellers provide using this service --> http://www.checkmend.com/uk/
Sadly thats all the advice we can offer. Talk and discussions on how to circumvent IMEI bans and changing of IMEI's is strictly prohibited and illegal in many countries.

Yes this is the best option for you, ebay will refund you and they will be held responsible about the fraudulent seller. (especially if it was covered by ebay buyer protection)

[Q] htc one blacklisted imei

Hello all
I am brought here because of some1 who sold me the blacklisted imei of htc one when I bought this phone was working and never thought of this issue untill it happened after few days it stopped working then I checked with different simcards but it was same problem so the person in the mall told me it could be a blocked imei so I checked online he was right now I am screwed lost my.money wondering if some 1 can help me here to fix this issue please help.
Depending on why it was blacklisted you may or may not be out of luck... you're going to have to contact Verizon and ask to have it restored. Odds aren't very good on that though.

Thanks for reply reason it is blacklisted coz it was reported as stolen
More than likley yes. So your saying when you got the phone it already had service? If that was the case, its either stolen, or cloned.
So is there anything can be done to work or its useless now?
Yeah pretty much. Verizon is never going to unblacklist a stolen phone, unless you were the one it was stolen from and you got it back, and you can proove it. You pretty much got your self a wifi only device now.

lolipop update then phone was blocked/blacklisted

So about 8 months ago I bought a used car. 6 months ago I found a Tmobile Note 3 lodged in the backseat of my car when I was runing some speaker wires. I didnt have the previous owners info anymore so I just put the phone in my dresser in casde he would contact me.
Well he never did. I charged it, turned it on and it was already blacklisted. My friend told me about a imei repair service that could fix it. So I did that.
It worked fine for 3 months until today when i allowed it to update to lolipop. After that it gave me a message saying the phone had been blocked and that the software installed on it was bad.
So now the phone is blacklisted again.
My question is, if I get the imei repaired, and then root it and just install a lolipop rom from here, will it again be blacklisted?
Thanks in advance

The owner lost the phone. That means they do not know where it is so they do not know to call you to ask for it back. Clearly they do want it back which is why they reported it missing and the IMEI was blocked. You are trying to block the phone from being returned to its rightful owner by changing the IMEI . Hopefully the carrier noted that your account is connected to that phone and forwards the information to authorities. That would be really cool!!!
Unfortunately in the real world that is not likely to happen and you will go on using someone else's property.
Or you can do the right thing and return it to the carrier!
Realistically speaking what probably happened is that the Imei that was used on to repair your phone was probably a stolen IMEI and it was detected being used at two carriers at the same time or the same carrier twice. Or... Just your luck that you got a Imei that was harvested and was reported lost.
Anyways, realistically speaking again.. I find it hard that after 2 months you lost the original car owner information. ? but that aint my business.

Learn to read. It says 6 months. What was I supposed to do? Tmobile wouldnt give me the customers info. He was no longer a Tmobile customer. Yes 6 months later I didnt have a copy of the craigslist ad for the car, and His phone number wasn't working anymore. Neither was his wifes number which was the one he was using when we met up.

when you took it to t-mobile, you should have just said "i found this in a car i bought, could you make sure it gets back to the original owner" and they'd have said "sure, thank you!" and that would have been the end of it...but now you have stolen property...so good luck with that
