okay. so I know this is possible as I have seen my boss's galaxy note 2. he loaded up windows 8 on the phone and was able to run star wars the old republic on it.
Now before you say so, yes I am sure it was actual Windows 8. It wasn't a splashtop stream, it was legitimately real windows 8.
SO I must ask, has anyone here figured it out? he wouldn't fully explain the process out to me, basically only telling me that everythings essentially linux, and that he had to rewrite some drivers, but mostly broke the phones system down to the core, deleted everything involving android, and loaded the os through a standard iso. I'm trying to learn and figure this out so I can work it out with my galaxy note. the home button worked, so did all the buttons and the spen.
I know there will be many naysayers saying it's impossible, I thought so too. But I definitely know what i saw and held.
Think your boss might just be pulling your chain

There's a reason why your boss wouldn't fully explain the process to you, and the common term for it is called being a bull****ter!
Call me a naysayer if you will, but I know for absolute certain that there's no way on God's clean earth you would ever get Windows 8 and SWTOR running natively on a Note 2.

It can run win 8 but only RT version what is made for SoC chips, and win 8 rt cant run windows applications. End of story

for windows 8 RT to work, he would also need a 32gb note, as windows 8 RT takes up nearly 18gb on its own.
but yeah, would have to see to believe. its probably splashtop.
All of you may be naysaying but I know exactly what I saw. How else would pressing the home button launch into the start screen? how else would pressing the sleep button then pressing it again bring up the lockscreen? I know exactly what I saw and I know without a doubt it wasn't a fake.

Windows 8 is not available on ARM, only Windows RT is, and will need at LEAST 32gb of storage.
SW:TOR is not available on ARM and cannot run on Windows RT. Period.
Note II has an ARM processor; it cannot run code written for Intel architecture processors.

Clockwork Mod Recovery still can't, and never has been able to clear the Dalvik cache. Why are some ROM developers still telling me to do this? I came from the Evo where Amon-Ra recovery could actually do this, but Clockwork can't/doesn't. And before you comment about going into Advanced settings in Clockwork, I know the option is there...
Did you bring your proof?
Maybe wipe it in recovry then reboot recovery, pull dalvik file via adb and look inside...

Agreed, just saying that it doesnt clear dalvik without proof doesn't make it true statement friend...
In Amon-Ra with my Evo, it took 10-15 seconds to clear Dalvik. In CMR with the E4GT, it's instant, which is the same as it was with CMR on the EVO. Also I read when I was still with the EVO that CMR didn't clear Dalvik, only Amon-Ra would..

now i agree with the second part as long as there is a slash, but i think he even meant that when comparing ios to android that ios wins in a landslide, which is garbage (lets not even begin to talk about how apples copies things from other os years later and THEN market it as if its a new invention/idea/technique,like the pull down notifications)
but what you mean windows days are limited? you talking about windows pc? windows is on more than 85% of computers, with apple at the bottom of the barrel, so how can that be that windows days are numbered?

I'm talking about microsoft windows pc/desktop/laptops:
With quadcore phones releasing next year, heavy applications making their way onto our phones, why buy a desktop? Just buy a wireless mouse/keyboard and hdmi cable, connect to your 100inch HDTV and get your work done, unplug and carry your "computer" in your pocket... By limited days I mean the future won't be stuck on a desk somewhere rather in your pocket dominated by Android and iOS... Yeah? No?
You cant compare a smartphone CPU to a desktop CPU by cores or clockspeed. ARM chips use a completely different architecture and intstruction set than Intel/AMD cpus. If you tried to benchmark a kal-el chip against a similarly clocked Intel chip you will see massive differences. We are years from smartphones being comparable in power to todays desktops.

Works great... html5 on windows phone rocks!
Thx for the info for some reason it seems to lag like hell on my Omnia tho...
Locked up at the loading screen at 71% on my phone.
However, on my desktop I PLAYED AND CAN'T STOP, MAN this game is addicting.
On my HTC titan it seemed locked up. I just refreshed it and it came up. has worked ever since although it pauses while loading at around 73 then moves to the game. I think it may time out if your load time takes to long (maybe cellphone internet related). Very fun game.
If you guys like the game so much, you should take a look at the XBL game Spider Jack. It's basically the same like cut the rope.

Actually it's one of disadvantages of pocket IE. Interactive HTML5 become more and more popular; would be great to have a special "play" mode in IE: kinda fixed zoom, and all screen gestures translated directly to html5.

with a tiny marketshare like we currently have: yes. Companies are not interested to take the risk and effort to port a game to our platform. I don't really blame them.

Not many features revealed in that post, but looks like they got hands on some low-end devices too!
6GB storage for those who don't need to spend a lot of money on phone storages - I think it's a good idea to target feature phone market users with cheaper smart phones.
The sending of video & sound recordings will be nice. Just having a built in sound recorder separate from onenote will be a welcome addition for many.
Assuming this is true. I don't doubt those functions are coming in the near future even if the leak is "fake".
I spotted an option to create a new APN. I hope it will be as fully fledged as it is on Android so that I could use WP7 on Straight Talk.

I could not agree more. Any WP7 device should come with at least 32gb today, nevermind 64gb. Crap even the music I want to carry at all times is around 30gb, never mind a few movies or podcasts... Even 32gb is limited for me.
I love the one "Export Contacts to SIM"
They are bringing SD card support officially so the newer generation will have card slots and if a some good minds at XDA get together all the previous Gens can get bigger cards also without a issue. Plus how many Android phones have more than 8 or 16gb storage built in storage right now hardly none and that is the more popular platform right now. You need a external to actually have memory on your android.
Besides the iPhone 4S and the Nokia N9 there are no other 64gb built-in smartphones and don't look for known either unless its from Apple or Nokia. Samsung already canceled there 32gb Nexus
Can anyone confirm tht this is not a fake?

you're complaining in a thread for tango which has devices for low end users. What does that make you look like?
If MSFT were to enter the WP8 game with Windows Surface Phone or MSFT Surface Phones range would you buy it?
Just a wild wild dream.. because:
a) The launch of surface range has created a buzz on even iForums and DroidForums.
b) The tech guys generally have liked it
c) It has met the hype
d) It looks sexy and we know it will perform much better than we think
e) Windows branding might be the reason for no traction, Surface branding seems to be taken positively
so.. could Windows Phone 8 be the Microsoft Surface Phones? or just Surface Phones?
PS: I love the Surfaces (will get one on the release day!) and whole heartedly hope the new new new iPad doesn't copy Surface and come up with the same and better pad.

Don't get me wrong... I'm thrilled about Surface
I would just prefer a Nokia... I like the aesthetics they design.
I'm definately tempted by the RT version of Surface especially if it gets priced correctly
There is one important difference between "Surface" Devices by Microsoft and "Nexus" Devices by Google. The Nexus devices have the benefit of being updated more regularly and earlier than competitors devices. It is highly unlikely that Microsoft will push update to their devices earlier. For Windows 8 it is a given that those will get Updates the same time everyone else does (second tuesday every month) and WinRT is likely to do it the same way.
And as Microsoft succeeded at least with Mango to push it worldwide around the same time I guess they would not stray from that path with new Windows Phones.
Given the partnership between Microsoft and Nokia I believe they will be relying on Nokia for their lead devices, given that Nokia has an All In Approach to the OS.
So I don't see it happening and if it were it would be a really good question why I would go with the Surface Phone instead of a Nokia (unless they build something that blows a PureView Nokia out of the water).
they gonna charge $600 and $800 for the thing... i think it is a way better deal than an iPad.

I am looking at Samsung Slate Series also. They had some quite "wow" device at the Windows 8 Release Preview Launch.
keynote
watch the keynote from 13:30 to 14:30.
either the hardware is underperforming or the software is still beta.
neat concept. too bad about the bootloader.
Its still Beta, even the consumer preview has some major quirks.
One big issue is gaming and swiping, swipe anywhere near the top of the screen and you'll bring up the multi tasking window, thus ruining your game.
Sent from my Nexus S using Tapatalk 2
I am looking it in a way what Steve said "Harmony of software with hardware". Can Nokia really know better hardware for MSFT software than MSFT itself? They are only partners after all. Also, am I the only one who thinks Surface devices are going to stand out in the sea of Lumias? However, Nokia do come up with plenty of classy designs from time to time.

I work in IT and use them all the time. Actually fixing one right now. And from an IT stand point Macs are no good for buis. And you can run multiple OS's on any PC. That is not a Mac thing they just advertise it because they know you will need windows for something
Once you go MAC you don't go back to "PC"
been in IT since 1982.. been on MAC at my home office for 4 years now. I have 6 laptops of my own and 4 MACS also. 2 mbp, 1 macro, and 1 new while unibody for daughter at college.. I have serviced all pc's from Southern Cali to Washington DC. I have yet to fully need to break down a mac any place ... only hard drives if that. When I repair PC'S laptops at Colleges its always a windows' machine. The reason I switched over was the virus issues with PCs and the constant WTF i need to update today before I start working on my PC. Sure they both have trojans and mail ware. But PC's have viruses and MAC's do not. Meaning PC's can be made inoperable by malicious software a lot more often were as MAC will be used as pons in a greater hacking plan with implanted trojans.... but still operate. Many times without the user ever knowing. Last reason .. economics... take a look at the income scale of MAC user's .. usually a lot higher than your typical PC user. By no means am I saying PC users don't make more money than MAC users.. just are usually in my field experience in a more lucrative high paying career position than a trade "job". Granted you defiantly have infinite more options of software and best of breed hardware options building PC's. If you want to do what you want how you want .. build your own PC box. If you want to power up and get to work on the reason you power'd up every time you power up with out having to restart our machine after using it for extended periods of time opening and closing apps.. going in and out of hibernation/sleep mode for days on end..... MAC is the way to go. .................... on last note.. the pc are great .. mac's are great... the internet is bases off UNIX not DOS. MAC is based off UNIX. If dos went away.. PC would rule hands down. truly its not the hardware man.. its the software that's the issue. I for all OS's merging closely into one within the next 20 years... each upgrade of windows it becomes more MAC. its just how it goes. even Ubuntu with its unity desktop is following suite as well. out of all the computers in my home only one 2 year old Sony has Windows 7 Ultimate on it to flash my GPS and Pimped out Epizzal 4G's Touch.. LOL.. everything else Runs on OS-X and UBUNTU... .. http://forum.xda-developers.com/images/icons/icon6.gif
Did you guys know that in a few years windoze will be releasing Microsux X ... I had to contribute!
Switched in 2010 and haven't looked back since. 2010 MBP upgraded to 8Gb of RAM and a 256Gb Crucial SSD, its been plenty fast, and loaded Win7 on it, but recently pulled that off and put XP on instead.
I was so impressed with it when my PC bit the dust I replaced it with a 27" iMac.
Lol just do Hackintosh. I have one and it beats the crap out of my friend's mac. Go for SB-E and then buy an IB-E cpu.

same here... neVAAAAA going back to PC........ have the same 15 MBP did the same upgrade...also insalled Lion.. it just plain flies............
tried to bog it down by 1. dowloading 25 gigs torrent 2. burn 8.5 dvd 3. streaming music 4. streaming hd video 5 running AI to edit newspaper add 6. surfen web news sites 7. 3 machines RDP 8. backing up data to NAS 9. apple checking for updates.. ALL AT SAME TIME. AND THE MACHINE JUST KEEP SAYING "BRING IT!! BRING IT!" no lag what so ever!.
Sorry PC's.. since I'm not a big PC gamer.... My switch has been a long time coming.. I wish they would start the IM A MAC / PC commercials again too funny.. but all of them true. LMAO.:highfive:
No it's not true because you're comparing computers with intel processors that are far superior to all its predecessors. I can do the exact things you stated with my Core i7-920 machine with no hiccups as well because the jump from Core 2 duo/quad to first gen i7s was 20% increase in performance on average. 2nd generation and 3rd generation are 10-20% better than the first gen nehelams (depending on task).
It does not matter if it's a PC or a Mac. You'll be hard pressed to make any modern CPU from Intel or AMD choke in any way unless you're doing the most demanding of tasks where intel completely dominates.
An updated windows 7 machine from a QUALITY manufacturer (not the cheap hp/dell stuff in retail stores) will last as long as any MBP. There is a reason the commercials stopped. It just didn't work anymore against the improvements in Win 7.
Also i live in the state capital of CA and have family with seniority positions within the gov't and let me tell you. Even though literally everyone has an Ipad...
Out of the thousands of computers, I did not ever encounter mac's in huge quantities. Only windows or custom OS's.
Side note #1 - MBP's use SSD's which allow for insanely fast response times.
#2 - They do get viruses / malware and are usually the fastest to be hacked in any hacking competition due to extensive security vulnerabilities that they take forever to patch which is also one of the main reasons the PCvMac commercials stopped when MS got its act together.

Mac desktops are PCs... You know a personal computer. Just like Dells, HPs, Sony and the like. OSX is pretty but I'm not paying an arm and leg for a name brand. It's like Air Jordan sneakers. Every year its the same hing different colour higher price. Sometimes add some need giltz and glam.

Just bought both an MBA 13" 2012 edition and the Asus Zenbook UX31A. It's my first time using a Mac and I've been a pro-PC person all my life, but I can honestly say that the Air is better than the UX31A, which is the top Ultrabook out right now. The specs are pretty identical, but this is a lot more intuitive and they are basically the same price.
But since this thread is about Android phones, I'll say that I usually just run Parallels to Windows 7 for my Android stuff because I CBA figuring out how Heimdall works instead of Odin haha. Otherwise, I think it's basically the same. Macs are pretty good with automatically finding drivers.
