I cannot download anything from Market, either new or updates - just stays on 'Starting Download'. No problem with connection or browsing Market. On stock 2.51 ROM. I removed the following apps (but don't see how they would affect the Market)

Are you downloading using wifi , new owners are told to do the initial market setup first download using 3G, and then wifi download should work ok, also make sure your using @gmail.com and not @googlemail.com for your email address.
Also i have heard that clearing the market cache in the built in android task manger can help if the above does not work.

Removing the ones I highlighted was your mistake. Never remove core Google apps.
@ccav2000
Thanks. Found and reinstalled the 2 apk's and all back to normal.
I had backed up with Titanium, but for some reason it only (seemed) backed up the data not the app. I can't work out how to back up the apk.

Hi, I also did the same mistake and now I cannot download or update anything on the market, could you tell me where to download the 2 apk's?
Everytime I start a download it says 'downloading' for a few seconds and then says 'download paused' and remains there.
This issue is on wifi only, and happened out of the blue yesterday. On my 3g data connection the apps download just fine.
I tried a lot of methods like clearing cache and all but nothing worked.
What can I do?
1. Goto Settings -> Application -> Managed application
Set filter: All (default is Downloaded)
Select Download Manager and Clear data
2.Disable (uncheck) Settings -> Data manager -> Data saver
3. Logout and login Google Talk
I did all that but it still didn't work

Maybe ur settings are set where it disconnects wifi when the light go off... try changing battery profile to performance... in the battery manager...
Sent from my MB525 using XDA App
wow setting the battery to performance mode worked! thanks a lot!
strange though, my battery had always been on battery saver mode and apps used to download, i wonder what happened
the apps did not download even when the wifi was still connected, it said 'download paused' after a few seconds itself
Market downloads paused again on wifi since yesterday! What is happening?!

Not sure if this is the right place to put this. Mods please move if necessary.
On my GS3, when select some text and tap copy, the app I am in crashes. It happens in every single time Plume and Chrome. I get the "Unfortunately, Chrome has stopped" dialog. Sometimes I can copy text in Google Talk but when I try to paste in Chrome, it crashes.
Any ideas? Thanks.
There is not a simple answer to your question but first you need to see if there are others in the play store complaining about the same things. Its more than likely just gonna be different issues with those apps. But... also depending on the kernal and from you are using you can get the same problems with different apps. Like with this XDA app it always force closes tried different rooms kernels same issue. After the process of elimination I found out it was the XDA app that wasn't working correctly. If that is you case contact the developer they can fix it. Google maybe not so fast though

It's a major bug that hasn't been fixed yet.

From dr3do on that forum:
1. boot recovery (CWM) > advanced > wipe cache
2. reboot phone > Root Explorer > delete /data/clipbord/*
3. reboot recovery again > advanved > fix permissions
4. reboot phone > it's fine
I'd start with just clearing the clipboard
ROOT your device, install ROOT Explorer, navigate to / > data > clipboard, select ALL and delete all, than go into your Settings > Applications Manager > All, look for TestServices, than remove updates/clear data. Reboot and everything should be fine.
I was unable to get root explorer to work if that doesn't work get root browser lite it worked perfectly for me

I had this problem as well. Not sure if it will be the same for you but I determined it only occurred with certain keyboards. I tested out a bunch of different keyboards from the Market and found the problem occurred with a lot of different keyboards. I ended up going with Smart Keyboard Pro. Haven't had the problem since I switched keyboards.
For some reason I keep getting a warning from watchdog lite that Android Media process is using 20.3% cpu and Android keyboard is using 20% cpu. Please help.
Bump
This is generally caused by media becoming corrupted. Browse through any photos or videos you have and see if anything appears that way. Might be pixelated or picture may be all black. Delete any corrupted pictures and see if that corrects the problem.
Also, if possible post a logcat. This well help better to determine the cause of the keyboard as well as if the above doesn't correct the first part of your problem.

I have deleted all photos in the gallery yet it still uses a lot of CPU. How do you post a logcat?
As far as the media problem try this:
1. Go to Settings > Apps > All
2. Locate and select "Media Storage"
3. Select Force Close
4. Select Clear Data
5. Repeat Steps 1-4 for the app: Android Keyboard (AOSP)
6. Reboot your phone
Note: The above clears settings for the keyboard. If you have modified these settings, go back to Settings > Language and Input to re-modify those settings back to how you like after performing the above steps.
You'll notice some high CPU for these processes while they rebuild their databases, but after a while you should see them go down to normal usage.
What this does is clears the database for your media. When Media Storage encounters something corrupt it tries to endlessly rebuild the database. Since you cleared your media, let it rebuild the database from scratch and hopefully it won't encounter any issues.
how to install and save logcats:
---------------------------------
Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.jtb.alogcat&feature=nav_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDNd
Installing this is a little tricky. You will need a root explorer or you won't be able to see logs. Steps below:
1. Install from play store
2. Open root explorer and browse to your system root (not ur SD card, but actual system root.)
3.) go to /data/app and cut org.jtb.alogcat-1.apk
4.) go back to system root and now browse to: /system/app
5.) paste the file.
6.) set permissions to 0644 (-rw-r--r--)
7.) restart your phone.
Note: make sure you move or cut the file so that you don't have duplicate apps. If you do happen to copy, go back to /data/app after you have it copied and delete the original.
This app has to be a system app to function in 4.2.x android systems. The above process converts it to a system app.
Open alogcat from your appdrawer and press menu.
Select save. should save to your internal storage under alogcat/whateveryourlognameis.txt
Upload your logcat here and I'll review it.

any app installed in your device is in the all section unless you uninstalled something..
You may have disabled it in error. Scroll all the way down to the bottom of the "all" list and if its there, click on it and select enable. (also clear cache and data) and reboot the device.

No. The problem is probably that you have some files your media scanner doesn't like and it hangs. Usually a format fixes this, unless you can find the file causing the issue.
I'm sure bwolf is probably correct but I've used rescan media when using certain ROMs ported from Verizon and it worked for me. It stops the media scanner and quickly scans. I don't believe I have any bad files so it may be a different problem altogether but maybe it is worth a try. I can't remember but I think its free.

Wasn't suggesting not to try it. Actually, the OP should definitely give it a try before formatting.
Sorry bwolf didn't mean to imply anything. Actually a full wipe of the internal SD cleared up other issues I've had with some ports and could've helped with the media scanner too but I never checked that part specifically.. If you decide to try a wipe, OP, don't forget to back up all your pics and vids if they are on internal SD and also copy any nandroid backups you want and titanium back up folder to external SD. You can then restore apps using TB from there. Just change folder location in prefrences. If you restore a nandroid backup it could also restore any issues.

Did not work. I pressed "Disable media scanner" and 3 minutes after that watchdog lite warns me that android media process is hogging CPU.
Remove all files from your sd card and then format it. It's also completely normal for media scanner service to run anytime you use it, especially during initial boot. I always stop the process after a boot, otherwise it'll run for 5-10 minutes nonstop and keep my cpu at max. It is suppose to stop eventually though.

I installed CyanogenMod and when I try to download a paid app on google play, it shows an "110 unknown error". Do you know how to fix it? I read some threads about it and nothing worked (clear cache, log out - login gmail...). Thanks.
You can download play store file and install over the one you have or try to make a clean Rom install this might solve your problem......
OR First try to clear all your data of play store and Google service and reboot the phone if it doesn't work then try the above thing...

Most likely the app you are trying to install has some files already in your system folder, therefore its not able to install correctly. Get a file explorer with root rights and try to clean up yourself. At least that solved my problem.

No. The method I mentioned will only wipe the Files App data and cache (Hence from Settings > Apps > Files > Storage). This is not a global wiping of data and cache of your entire device (this would be the last resort).
I had the same annoying problem. I finally tracked the issue to another app called 'Box' which is a cloud storage app. Once I uninstalled "Box" the Files app worked again. I located an earlier version of the Box app (v.3.7.5) and it seems to work properly now.
The was incredibly annoying to track this problem down. I hope this helps my fellow OP3 owners...
