Did this happen after you dropped the phone or it was immersed in water? If it happened out of the blue, then probably a software malfunction that you can fix by yourself with factory reset or flashing new firmware. If it's a hardware issue then you need to call Samsung service centre in your country.

yes, MY beloved Note 2, was for about 3 seconds in a WC.....and, it turned a light red...After, I removed the battery, the pen, the sim and memory card,did cleaned it, I used a vacum cleaner, it stayed for 30 hours into dry rice, and,when a boot it, it worked very fine...I perhaps made a mistake, I put the phone for 3 nights, into a plastic bag full of silicate salt, to be sure, no more humidity stayed inside...Then, this morning, I received a phone call, and,my finger was useless, but...not the Pen. it worked very OK, but, no more keyboard.....What I do not understand, is, how the glass do not react anymore to the touch of a finger but react to the touch of the pen? I know, we deliver some small amount of electricite, then ? a S pen, how it work anyway?
Anyway, did try hard reset, and it would not do it....Called Samsung, in Budapest, and, this is very often the case in Hungary..they told me my invoice was from internet shop, and the warranty, would not be OK in Hungary..of course, it was from an internet link, we cannot still buy, in Hungary any Note 2.....What I was very upset, is not that, if I made a mistake I am willing to pay for it, but, when a Samsung representative, tell you first, you bought your phone by internet, in Hungary we do not cover warranty , because, it is not written in Hungarian....and,it is going to cost you about 60'000 hungarian forints, and telling you it could take about 2 weeks to be fixed,, OR, they told me also, in Budapest, Samsung has in another part of town, a repair shop...I went there, and, this is mad, because, I told the same story, and they asked me my bill, and, they told me my bill was fine, even the phone was shipped from France, and the warranty could work...That is not the same answer...We will see next week, if I have to pay for the repair or not...
BUT, I am very disapointed, because, if a Note 2, who stayed a mere 3 seconds into water, and, when I opened it, sorry, but the back case where you can remove the battery, was full of water, then..If I would use my phone when rain would drop, I suspect, the phone would stop working...this is no good for Samsung, sorry, after an Iphone4 where I never had any troubles for 2 years of use...I also think, the cover of an Iphone is way better build, but not the screen, it is to delicat...

and, sorry, but women have more trouble with phone dropping into a WC, then men..When that happened, my phone was in a back pocket....
The phone recognizes the touch from your finger and the touch from the s-pen as two different entities. I think this video explains it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQpC3oRdR0c. In short, the phone uses different technology to detect your finger than it does to detect s-pen.
About the water thing. I'm really sorry that happened to you. You can see from this video (Skip to 7:05): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h2xnWH724Ho .. that note 2 does ok in water after it spends 24hr in dry bag, which should work similarly to rice. You are unlucky I guess. I hope you get it fixed without much expense.

For the water, I am clueless, because mine, stayed for the approximative same lengh into (water) and I feel the stuff in the bag must be a kind of silicate salt...
I, perhaps used too much and too long the salt, but, on that video, we have, no idea, what really happened to the note 2 a fews days later....or, hiw the phone reacted after a fews days...

My Dash recently got wet (it was my 21st birthday), and now I have some (major) issues.
For a while it wouldn't turn on, at all. Then, after taking everything out (battery and sim card) and letting it sit for a few days, then recharging the batteries, my Dash turns on as soon as I put the battery in (rather than waiting for me to push the on/off button).
Then all my alarms from the past 2 weeks start to go off. As soon as I push ANY button, the Dash shuts down. End of story.
Is my beloved Dash completely FUBAR?

My opinion.
Remove the battery from it for 3 days.
Open it up (the phone)
Air dry the whole phone for the same amount of days.
proceed to assemble the phone back, insert the battery back.
Clear Storage command and hopefully it will set everything back to normal.
Cross your fingers.
Most likely its dead if that is happening. Probably fried some of the circuits on the board. If it is still under warrenty, you can try calling customer service and just tell them it stopped working. Don't offer up any information as to the cause.. This worked when i broke my screen.
"Customer service? Yes. My screen no longer works... Ok, we will replace it"
However, you may get dinged with a replacement fee of $100 (t-mobile) if they find that it was not the fault of the actual hardware. However, this is usually far cheaper then buying the phone again.
Interesting tho, my dash survived being fully emursed in a bucket of water. Never turned off, and still have never had any further issues. I still laff at it, i wish I coulda seen my face as I watched it sink to the bottom.
I would just call customer service and see what they say from there.
If you tell customer service what actually happened, you will have to buy a new phone. That is something I know they won't cover. Be vague and unsure of why its doing what it is doing and most likely you will be taken care of.

alright so i was driving, someone cut me off, my tilt2 fell off the center console into a cup of soda.
when i pulled it out i had the screen with the red, blue, green, yellow or whatever.
so i updated my driver on my computer cause im using vista, then i did a hard spl flash to put it back to the stock version. i left it plugged into my computer with it on the att world phone screen and it stays on that for about 10 minutes and then finally starts up, everything comes up fine including my previously loaded background but i get the apparently popular microp wrong version 0 message saying it needs to be updated. btw once it loads everything has extreme lag. i keep seeing that its a hardware problem but some people seem to fix it doing another hard spl flash (which ive tried and didnt work). now if it is a hardware issue, usually its from people dropping their phone on the ground hard or whatever, but would it be that from falling 8" into a drink (also heard htc makes their stuff waterproof???)
bottom line is the phone is still under warranty, but under my friends name who i bought it off of, do you think ill still be able to get it repaired under warranty or am i just screwed and have to buy another phone? or does someone have a solution to this problem?
Waterproof? Not even close! Whoever told you that is dead wrong. I think Motorola has a new phone that is very moisture resistant, that you can submerge it. But that phone is very unique in that regard. Cell phones are not typically waterproof, or even water resistant in any way. Dropping the phone in soda is absolutely the cause of your issue, and its a hardware problem.
Warranty will do you no good, unless your friend paid extra for the type of insurance that covers damage that you caused. There are moisture sensing stickers inside the phone (change color when they come into contact with moisture). Warranty service will know from these that you have water damage (in addition to soda being inside the phone!). They will charge you for the repair or a new phone.
Your best bet is to turn off the phone, take the battery out, and dry the phone out as much as possible. Some people put their moisture exposed phones in a plastic bag with rice, which is supposed to help dry it. Or put in a warm place (some say on top of the refrigerator). Dry it out for a few days, then try to power up again. Since you dropped it in soda, it may be a goner, since there is other gunk inside your phone now besides just water.

I just purchased a GSM Galaxy Nexus From Google last monday. Got it on wednesday the first thing i did was put a screen Protector on it before booting the phone up.(ArmorSuit MilitaryShield) The phone work great on Thursday no issues what so ever. Then i Friday i went to the gym. Kept the thing in my pocket and wiped my hands before touching anything on the phone. (Waiting for otterbox to arrive)
I as soon as i get out i notice Condensation in the front camera. I soon as i received a text my phone hung up and reboot itself. After loading again to the home screen it hung up again as soon as text pop up again. I after 8 tries i final was frustrated. Took the SIM card out and swipe to the right with my finger to try to see if i could unlock it to the home screen.
I was finally able to get into the phone and turn on airplane mode before it hung up again. After i did that i Sut down phone and put the SIM card back in. Repeated the the same steps. As i turn airplane mode off the phone hung up again! (Seems everyone in the mother had to text me at that moment) I was able to make two phone call's before it lock up, but i couldn't hear them and they couldn't hear me. Called 611 then i was able to hear at&t computer but sound like the speaker was dieing. Then the phone lock up and reboot itself.
So i go into the boot loader. The phone was functioning perfected in the boot loader. Play with it for about 10mins. No hangs up. I found that weird. So i reboot the phone was able to get myself into the Factory reset. After that i did a hard factory reset.
So i call Google and they sent me over to Samsung. Samsung wants to do a replacement. I don't mind doing that i just don't like the fact they need a CC number just in case they have to Charge if the phone was abuseded which it wasn't. Baby the hell out of it. They asking me if the phone came into any touch with liquid. The the only thing i could think of was the solution the screen Protector Company sent. I didn't spray the solution directly on the phone but the direction told me to spray couple of sprays on the side of the SP that was going on the screen. (2 Sprays).
The Samsung rep told me the systoms don't sound like water damage. So after getting off the phone (About 1 hr) i notice the condensation was disappearing from the lens. So i took a quick blow dryer to it for about 30 secs. Turn the phone back on and everything been rock solid (Expect for wifi cutting in and out for some reason) for about 2 days.
So tomorrow Samsung fiance department will be calling me for my CC info. My question do you think i should send it in ? Do you think they will find water damage? Was this water damage ? Does the GSM galaxy nexus have Water Sticker ? I'm not able to find one. (Every where i googled no one had a direct answer)
I'm not trying to rip Samsung off i just don't want this to happen down the road again. If it was water damage ill just deal with it i guess.
I wonder if i don't open the new phone tey send me and just use my old 3gs in till i hear back from them... will i be able to send the Replacement phone back if it was water damage ? Just pay the shipping costs? First time dealing with something like this

Look at the water contact indicator under the battery and see if it is red. A wet apply screen protector should not have caused this, but be careful to not let water get in the speaker and crevices when applying. In the future if your phone does come in contact with water or condensation remove the battery and sim Immediately and place in dry rice for 24 hours, do not try to power it on. Many others are reporting wifi instability, check the threads for solutions.

Do you think Samsung will find anything ? Sorry for all the questions. The lens on the front camera was white. Is there stickers inside the phone where the CPU is
I heard there was like 3 water indicators in the phone.
That I couldn't tell you, I've never taken the phone apart so I would only be guessing. You might could find out by looking for a "tear down" of the phone, there should be several online if you do a Google search. Is the phone continuing to function well for you? Besides the wifi?
Yeah its been running great. Just got off the phone with Samsung. I think i just keep this phone. I don't want to pay for repair cost's. If the phone dies in month then i guess it was water damage. I hope there's no corrosion on PCB. I would love to take it apart but i don't want to void the warranty to check. Is there warranty Sticker in there ?
The wifi thing might be my fault. My laptop does that sometimes too. I'm just freaking out. I love the phone. I don't want it too die. Just ran a CPU stability test for about 15mins. I reached home and saw what had happened, immediately took out my battery, cleaned my phone with a dry cloth and used hair dryer for about 30 mins. I knew the damage had already been done, coz the phone flashed a red led light indicating water damage.
I opened up the phone, saw the water marker stickers were in a perfect condition no change in color whatsoever, kept my phone in rice for about 12 hours and next morning i plugged in battery to see if it works, no result. PHONE WAS DEAD.
I took it to local repair shop, gave me an estimate, the phone worked for a min and then bam display was flashing on and off. Decided to take it to samsung svc, at first they denied repairing it since GNEX isnt available officially in India. So, gave them my phone and today got an estimate. Costs almost 200$ to replace the mobo! I was shocked! Anyway, my question is should i get my phone repaired? Can i get the parts from outside and get it repaired(not in samsung svc, it took them 4 days just to tell me estimate!)
Any idea which place in mumbai is good for repairing cell phones?

Did you use hot air? because that might be what have killed it. Plastic and hot hair don't always mix well, just like electronics and water.

So went ahead and gave it in samsung. Estimate is around 8k! I used hair dryer in normal/mode for about 30 mins and then in hot mode for 5 mins. When i tried to start the phone, the phone just flashed red led notification light and since then never turned on!
I dont know how much time it will take, even i know spending 8k on repairs is not a good idea, but this is my second phone in a year so had no option to buy nexus 4! Well will wait for the next nexus till then.

Hi! Im also facing a similar situation. Water entered in my phone on 9th June, I tried to turn on the phone but it wont start. I removed the battery and kept my phone in a bag of rice for almost 10 days. charged my battery using an external charger but the phone wont turn on
I would like to know what exactly the repair guy told u in indraprasth and which service center did u give ur phone. I don't want my nexus to die. I stay in borivali and any info from ur side will be really helpful.

The guy at indraprasth told me that water had entered the phone internals. Including earpiece,motherboard and display. My mobo worked fine for a sec or two and then the phone wud switch off again. After many tries the phone was dead. Then he said he can repair the phone(p.s smartphones cannot be repaired if mobo is damaged, only replaced) but there's no guarantee it will work. Then i went to samsung, they gave me an estimate of 8k +-1k. I will also get a warranty for a month, strange since this phone wasnt launched in India.
All the best, i would suggest go to authorised svc first and if you think the price is too high, then go to local.

Thanks for your reply. I went to Indraprasth and the guy said my phone is 'dead'. It cannot be repaired and it has to be replaced but he said it's better u don't do anything as its gonna cost u heaven and plus spares are not easily available. So now i have no option left but to go to an authorized service center. I would like to know what exactly the service center guy told you that's not working and needs a replacement and have u received your phone back from the center and is it working properly? I have sent u a direct message pls do check it and revert back when free. Thanks.

Ok, what happened here is my phone went to swim with me crying.
I tried to dry up the phone, but I still can't turn it on. Then, I send my phone via my carrier (Rogers Canada in my case) for repair. Of course, I am pretending to be innocent saying I don't know what happened to my phone, and I just can't turn it on. Then HTC (I suppose it is some outsourced place, but should be licensed under HTC) told me that there are COLLISION on the mother board and somewhere else, which is ridiculous. There is one much more ridiculous thing: the repair is going to cost

Of course, I am not asking them to repair for me. I just want to share how ridiculous it is, and if you guys can gimme some hints on how I can have it repaired, that will be great.

If you're lucky the phone might magically just turn on, on any given day. I've seen that happen

I will agree with you there, 1000 bucks to fix a phone is way overboard. Unless theres some conversion were missing. like 400 USD = 1000 what ever lol

It's 1000 CAD, which equals around 930 USD.
This doesn't even sound right. How can the repair cost more than the actual cost of the device. I'd look for another repair option.

Diagnostics, manual assembly, etc. Very little can be reliably salvaged from a water damaged phone. Assume everything but the case needs replacing. It's what's known as a write-off.

I've washed them full cycle several times. Each time when I found my phone i soaked them in alcohol and agitated them for about 20 minutes fully submerged. Then I use a toaster oven and dried them out with gentle heat and by sucking air into the phone about 20 times. All of them worked again. Even an iPhone once. Yes, I said full cycle. I found my phone in the when I was loading the dryer. Have I been lucky? I dunno. Many find this hard to believe, but it's true. I put a charging port in my girlfriends note 2. It came from a water damaged Note 2. It was sitting in parts for 2 months. I figured it was dry because it was sitting in open air. Well I put it in and it worked. A week later she lost data and voice. Long story short, that chargign port wrecked everything in the Note 2. When they opened it up, it has white fungus looking corrosion working halfway up the phone in three spots. It absolutely ruined the Note 2 and an insurance claim had to be made. It can go ether way, saved or junked. Just depends on the conditions.

Wow, I guess you don't learn fast.
Water damaged vs got wet.
If you're quick enough and use the correct method and lucky, you may get the thing working again, but I'd hardly say reliably. HTC or any repair centre are hardly going to want to provide a 3 month warranty on a repair of a phone that's got wet without replacing everything that can be damaged by water.
The sum of the parts is greater then the price of the item.
Thats why we have chop shops. Some cars are worth more when parted out and the pieces are sold individually.
So if each component was being sold to him at retail pricing, add labor and whola, higher price.
